Last year when my wife and I were visiting Coronado, we went to Peohe's for a birthday dinner for me and had a five-star experience. We enjoyed it so much that we made a reservation even before we arrived to Coronado for a dinner at Peohe's on our last night in Coronado. While the food was delicious, we experienced a number of challenges before and after being seated. We created our reservation more than a week earlier through Open Table, and there were plenty of open tables for a weekday evening. We arrived two minutes early for our reservation and was told it would only be another two minutes before we would be seated. A large family arrived after us, and they were seated rather quickly. After ten minutes, I went back to the host stand where I inquired about our reservation. I really only wanted to know if we could be seated soon and confirm we weren't forgotten about. Rather, the host told us that there was a "miscommunication" and we should be seated shortly. We were finally seated a minute or so later. Upon being seated, we were told our server should be with us shortly. It took 8-10 minutes for a server to show up, greet us, and serve us water. It was not busy at that time, and more tables were empty than filled. During that time, we noticed that both of our bread plates were dirty. Once our server arrived, she was very kind and helpful answering many questions. While she did check on us throughout the meal, it wasn't until after our entrees that we finally were offered more water. The dishes we ordered did arrive in a reasonable amount of time. Otherwise, our server was very pleasant though it seemed that she may have been a bit overwhelmed. She did offer good recommendations and strived to make our experience positive. We were initially brought some warm dinner roles and butter for the two of us to share. As we knew our dishes would be filling and would come with sides, we decided that the bread was enough until our entrees arrived. My wife ordered the Aloha Catch Salmon, prepared sautéed and paired with chefs farm fresh harvest and topped with Leon shallot butter. The sides include coconut ginger rice and a vegetable medley. I ordered the Sous Vide Roasted Chicken, which was a half-chicken with garlic based potatoes and asparagus. Both dishes were delicious and filling. I thought the chicken was moist and very tasty. We then opted not to order a dessert but were brought a small red velvet cake with a chocolate Happy Birthday on it. It was small but perfect to wrap up the meal. Peohe's considers itself to be fine dining and is nestled on the water's edge in the Coronado Ferry Landing offering amazing views of the downtown skyline and San Diego Bay. They have a very similar restaurant to Chart House, of which they are considered part of the Chart House and Landry family of restaurants. They specialize in fresh tropical seafood dishes, is known for their sushi bar, and has an elegant seating area indoors as well as patio seating. You can access Peohe's by land or water. You can learn more about Peohe's at https://www.peohes.com. If you plan on going to Peohe's, you should join the Landry's Select Club by signing up at the restaurant or on the website and paying $25. In return, you'll receive $25 in credit to use at a Landry's restaurant (including Peohe's or Chart House) and then receive an additional $25 for your birthday every year. They also have promotions and giveaways, and you can earn points (and bitcoin) that you can redeem for additional $25 increments. While the service was certainly a significant drop from our past visit, the food was delicious and the views are great. We will certainly stop by again to see if the service has been improved. I also realized I hadn't posted pictures previously, so I will post a combination of photos from last year's and this year's visits.

We went here to celebrate our daughter's college graduation. We had a reservation but the graduation ended earlier than what we expected. The manager was very accommodating to let us dine before our reservation. We were seated inside with a beautiful view of the bay. We got appetizers and ordered from their lunch menu. All the food was delicious. This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to for birthday and anniversary celebrations. The staff and their service are incredible. Plus nothing can bet the view of the bay especially at night.

We recently hosted a work celebration lunch here for a party of 19 after an amazing month as a team. We made the reservation about two weeks in advance and I even stopped by a couple days beforehand to confirm everything was set. When we arrived, the staff and manager were very accommodating and moved us outside so we could enjoy the beautiful views of the San Diego Bay. The setting truly was amazing and several people in our group commented on how beautiful the restaurant was. Unfortunately, the service timing really impacted the experience. We had an 11:45 reservation, but our orders were not taken until around 12:30 despite appetizers and drinks beginning to arrive. Drinks alone took close to 40 minutes. We had also ordered oysters, and only after we followed up were we informed they had just arrived and had not yet been shucked. It left us wondering if we would have received the notice at all had we not asked. The servers themselves were kind and polite throughout, but service was very infrequent and the pacing of the meal became difficult for a large group with work schedules to maintain. Entrées did not begin arriving until around 1:00 PM, and they came out so spread apart that some team members had finished eating before others had even received their food. Eventually our leader had to ask about the remaining meals because many of us had meetings to return to. The manager did offer complimentary dessert, which was appreciated, but by that point we had already been there over two and a half hours and unfortunately needed to leave. Overall, the location and atmosphere were wonderful, and the staff was friendly, but the experience itself was disappointing given that this was meant to be a celebration lunch for our team.

Amazing views, but the food and presentation wasn't anything to rave about. I usually don't like dining out on holiday occasions, but we went for Mother's Day dinner. The menu was a 3 course prefix. I opted for the wedge salad, prime rib, and the chocolate mousse cake. The wedge salad was nothing like a traditional wedge salad from most restaurants. The plating was sloppy and the blue cheese dressing didn't taste like blue cheese. The prime rib was prepared well. The mashed potatoes came out hard, like they've been sitting for awhile. The au jus sauce was too salty. My bf opted for the lobster bisque, swordfish, and white chocolate cheesecake. The cup of bisque was watery and had no texture or substance. The swordfish was dry. It looked dry on arrival. My daughter got the kids cheese burger (came out full size) so not bad for $15. The dessert was probably the best part, but I don't even think it's made in house. Our white chocolate raspberry cheese cake had a piece of wax paper stuck to the plate decoration. Service was good, but the restaurant overall didn't meet my expectations. I probably wouldn't consider returning.

Peohe's in Coronado is the most reviewed restaurant so I had to see. The restaurant appears a bit dated but was clean and presented nicely. There's interior and exterior seating, but with sunny San Diego weather, seating outside umbrella shades and waterfront views is preferred. The staff were very accommodating, helpful and nice, special thanks to our server Elle who had a positive attitude. The food selections were excellent. We ordered the seafood pasta, sesame crusted salmon for entrees and both were delicious. The Peohe salad and the red velvet cake were also yummy. This restaurant is part of the Chart House collection of restaurants throughout the nation, so most of the menu selections will be similar. Despite the common thread, the service, food and ambience were all fantastic. Recommend

Completely satisfied with every aspect. We made reservations with a special request of a view and a birthday. Promptly greeted by name. Seated at a lovely table and had the pleasure of being served by Dilynn. Normally an evening served she worked the day we were in. Dilynn was extremely knowledgeable and attentive Sharing with honesty and professionalism her suggestions. Our food arrived promptly and was outstanding. I consider myself a connoisseur of fish and chips and I was not disappointed. My guest had the ahi salad and was delighted. Dilynn graciously treated us with a birthday dessert. We spoke with Susan the manager when she arrived at our table addressed me by name and noted we were celebrating a birthday. The entire experience was 5 stars. I highly recommended Peohe's in Coronado. As a footnote the covered patio is ideal or a booth inside!

Hubby wanted lobster but ended up ordering a prime rib end cut that came with garlic mashed potatoes. His drink ordered was a chocolate and bourbon drink that had a nice huge ice cube along with a skewered cherry and a solid chocolate ball. My mother in law had a blood orange and sage nonalcoholic beverage and she really enjoyed it. For dinner she had a wedge salad and lobster bisque soup. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and it was quite a generous portion with plenty of lobster chunks. I ordered the berry fauxhito which was quite refreshing. Sorry, we did share the pupu platter which had ahi poke, lobster sushi rolls, egg rolls, shrimp cocktail, and fried shrimp. We really enjoyed all of the elements on the platter. My favorites were the two different shrimp offerings. The restaurant had both indoor and outdoor dining options, a sushi bar, as well as a regular bar. The atmosphere could be considered romantic in their large curved booths or business casual and also family friendly. There is something for everyone here. Also, shoutout to Devin as they were a magnificent server and met all our questions and needs. We will definitely be back.

Celebrated 43 years of marriage at Peohe's on Coronado Island. Great window seat with a wonderful view of the bay and the San Diego skyline. Our server for the night was Christian. Christian provided outstanding service! Water to the table and we decided to order cocktails to start. My bride ordered a Tito's Dirty Martini and I opted for the recommended Chocolate Bourbon Cocktail that resembles an Old Fashioned. Next we order the Kim Chee Calamari, a favorite of ours. Cocktails and appetizer do not disappoint, we move on to the main course. My wife orders the Crab Stuffed Flounder and I the Chilean Sea Bass with Pinot Noir Sauce. These seafood dishes were outstanding and we did our best to clean both plates. For dessert we order the Mud Pie and with that Christian also brings us a complimentary slice of Red Velvet Cake. We brought a special bottle of wine to enjoy because corkage fee is only $25 per bottle. Our night at Peohe's was close to perfect. Can't wait to make a return visit.

I absolutely love Peohe's. The waterfront view is stunning. The poke is my fave...super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done. Happy Hour is also a great deal, with food specials around $6-$12 and solid drink prices...$5.50 beers, $6 well drinks, and $9-$10 signature cocktails. Amazing views, great poke, and one of my favorite Happy Hours in Coronado!

Came here on a Saturday for lunch and absolutely loved it. We shared quite a few dishes and everything was great. The salmon on the bento box was 10/10. I shared fish and chips with one of my friends and we both really enjoyed it. The drinks were pretty good, however I think the food is what really made the experience so great. And the view!

As everyone else mentions, the views are stunning. We came here to celebrate a birthday. We hadn't been back since I was a kid. Check-in was smooth since we had reservations at 6:30pm. Unfortunately, our experience was started off on the wrong foot when the hostess looked at our ADA guest up and down with a rude facial expression. Our bread was served and had hair on it. Thankfully, our waitress was attentive and helpful the whole evening we were there. The sushi tower is a cool concept but I was disappointed. The rice was hard. The lobster mac made up for the sushi. I can't speak for everyone else's dishes in our party. They did provide a sweet birthday cake for the celebrant. The place is beautiful but I'm hesitant going back based on the impression from our check-in and food.

    Ask the Community - Peohe's

Has the in-house catering menu (not wedding related) been removed from the website? It was available 2 weeks ago.

Hello! We recommend contacting the restaurant for further assistance, they will be able to provide you with the current catering menu. The phone number is listed below, thank you!…

Does Peohe's honor military discount? If so, what is the percentage?

Unfortunately, they do not offer a Military discount. They do have various discount programs such as their Landry's Membership program, AARP, and AAA. I wished they offered a Military Discount because they definitely deserve it!

Can I stop at the bar and have a drink w/o eating there?

Hi Ruth. Absolutely! You can always visit our Bar for just drinks if you wish. We always have appetizers available to order as well, and if you decide to have dinner there after all, then you are welcome to order that as well. We have Happy Hour…

    Is there free parking?

Yes, there is a public lot adjacent to the restaurant

    Is there a children's menu?

Yes, but be aware the portions were massive! I believe my friends kids had chicken fingers and fries!

    Is this place kid friendly?

    Absolutely! Kids love us!

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

Interestingly two years ago they told us service dogs only but a couple of weeks ago we saw a dog on the patio and the owners of the dog said apparently now dogs are allowed patio only

Vegan options for food and drink? Thanks

The full menu is available online.

Do they no longer give or free bread?

Bread is served at dinner, and is served "on request" at lunch.

My first impression of the restaurant was, it was beautiful restaurant with a counter that seats 14. First off, Chef Maru and his entire staff was absolutely fantastic and professional. They were all attentive on refilling water and tea. Chef Maru himself was absolutely awesome, he explained each course that was served. Which was the right way to do it. Omakase: Omakase 20 pieces at $180. It's a great price, but in my head there had to be a catch to it. The starter and appetizer started out strong. Everything (fish) were all fresh, so when the nigiri course started that's when everything went south. The nigiri that chef served was really small and it's not your standard size nigiri .There's barley any shari ( sushi rice) and fish. If felt like I was sampling each nigiri. You can't really enjoy it when it's that small. The only highlight was the Uni from San Diego. That felt like a month full, other than that everything just felt like a tease. Don't let my photos fool you, it was all zoomed in. My wife and I had many omakase before and lelf happy and satisfied. This was the first time that we ever left after an omakase meal and was still hungry and a little disappointed. I would love to give Sushi Maru more stars but I just can't after this vist.

The quality of the fish here is absolutely exceptional easily some of the best sushi I've had anywhere!!! You can tell they take an incredible amount of pride in what they serve. The presentation, preparation, and quality of the ingredients truly feel like an art. The otoro is unreal. It literally melts in your mouth and is worth whatever the market price is that day. The richness, marbling, texture, and freshness are just perfection. The tuna overall is phenomenal, and the sweet shrimp is another favorite, the presentation alone is beautiful, and the flavor is even better. Honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything you order here. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. If you genuinely appreciate high-quality, traditional sushi and exceptional fish, Ikiru is an absolute must in San Diego.

An extra star for the thoughtful and child-friendly service…read more I brought my 6 year old here for sushi after trying to get into Sugarfish and then Azuki. There was no wait here but parking was a nightmare and there is almost no street parking right around the restaurant which is near the trolley tracks. I recalled coming here for a light dinner with my husband many years ago and thinking it was good, but expensive. I asked if they had Japanese soda for my daughter because it was not on the menu, and they said no, but after we came back from the bathroom the host had found one for us. They gave us chopstick helpers and were very nice. We ordered braised pork belly as an app and wagyu nigiri, albacore, hamachi, salmon belly, 2 salmons, and unagi. I think that was all. They nicely split the order so half had no wasabi for the kid. They were very considerate and I appreciated it. The food however took a while to come out. The braised pork belly was ok, but the fat had not rendered as well as at some other places so we ate around it. The flavor was good though. The hamachi was probably the best item-tender and tasty. The albacore was standard and a generous piece, but the salmon was a bit tough and my kid who usually inhales salmon tasted and then left the salmon. The wagyu had good flavor but was surprisingly chewy. For $26 I would expect it to melt in your mouth but it was not easy to bite through. The eel was very tender but had a weird taste, and was disappointing. I found myself chewing on a scale from maybe the salmon and was overall underwhelmed by the food. The bill for a soda and the sushi came to almost $150 after tax and tip for me and a 6-year old. Usually my husband and I and my kid go to places with better quality and pay the same price for the three of us. Will not be back.
