What a beautiful restaurant right on the Coronado Bay. There is not a bad seat in the house. With every table placed to perfection to see the Bay, with seating inside and out you will have breathtaking views. I would recommend to make reservations because they do get busy. Wonderful dinner! Husband and I took the ferry over to Coronado and got to our reservation in time. We enjoyed the ambiance and food. Our server, Justin, was great and really friendly. I watched him take care of a table of older women, and he was so kind and seemed so genuine. Nothing was forced at all- as even after they Had paid and were walking out, he was bantering with them and they were just laughing and laughing. Our meal was beautiful. This restaurant is not what she used to be. Have been going here since the early 1990's. Today was not good. My Prime Rib was cold and so were the mashed potatoes. My wife's steak was also cold and very fatty. Our guest from Ohio also found her food to be cold, steak also with some shrimp. Also, I specifically ordered a Lobster Tail add on to my Prime Rib! When I complained about my food being cold they took everything away. They brought me a new piece of prime rib, but, it was not very good and my lobster tail dissappeared forever! They said I never ordered it, which is BS because I changed my order of Lobster Bisque to a very sad pitiful Caesar salad because I did not want all richness of Lobster tail and lobster bisque. This meal sucked! There were 9 of us. I wound up not eating even though they replaced the prime rib! I tried to go to In-n-Out but they are closed.. Not a good Easter dinner! Went out on a spontaneous date night. The hubs has been eyeing this place for a while and I'm glad to report it did not disappoint. We went on a Friday night and expected it to be packed so went online and reserved for 7:15. We got to the area early and walked around and was super hungry. We asked if we could get seated earlier (it was around 6:45) and they said for outdoors it would be closer to our reservation time. Luckily..... As we were walking out, a table opened up and the hostess came and got us. So brownie points for sure for quick response and attentiveness. I didn't get her name, but I'm so grateful, because I was soooooooo hangry. Aways, got seated at the middle front with such a beautiful view ( see picture), the air was not too cold but a chill summer breeze and our server Teagan served us some bomb house bread and butter ( could use a bit more, but Imma buttah lova). We ordered straight away (looked at menu before we left) and Teagan gave great suggestions for vegetarian items and how the swordfish would be. Her recommendation was fantastic and we truly enjoyed our first time dining at Peohe's. The salad was well dresses and the candied walnuts were amazing! They definitely were generous with the walnuts as well which I loved. I artichoke was absolutely amazing as it's been years since I've had it and I definitely now know where to go for delicious artichoke. So for the swordfish and lobster tail dish, that was my husband and he said the swordfish has a wonderful burst of flavor and was prepared well. The lobster was good - that's all he said, lol. What an adventure yesterday was! I had made reservations for 2 pm for restaurant week not realizing the menu was only for dinner! Silly me! When we arrived, the hostesses were not very friendly or welcoming, which seems to be a common theme recently. We hoped they would have a restaurant week menu for lunch, which they did not, but I was still happy to get my ultimate fave salad, their chopped spinach salad with warm bacon dressing! I also tried their Peach Palmer, which was amazing! Our server, Kyle, was awesome and very friendly! Food came out quickly, which oddly came out before our drinks arrived! We liked our food so much we decided to come back for dinner so we could get restaurant week like we originally planned. Fast forward a few hours later, we came back for dinner and the hostesses were more welcoming. We were seated and waited a bit before our server and water showed up, but overall it was smooth after that! Mosic was a great server, super fun and helpful with his jokes and recommendations! He memorized all of our orders without writing it down! From the restaurant week menu, I got the clam chowder to start, added on the ahi tuna stack and coconut shrimp, then ordered the shrimp and lobster pasta as my main entree and lava cake for dessert. Clam chowder was delicious, I could do without the ahi tuna stack, the coconut shrimp was okay, shrimp and lobster had great flavor and good protein to noodle ratio, but lava cake was a little dry for my liking (and no lava inside.. *insert sad face). No bread ever showed up but I was full anyways! Not sure what's been going on with staffing, but I imagine that's why service has been a little slow or lacking. Peohe's has a great location at the Landing on the north side of Coronado. We had great patio seats overlooking the harbor towards the Embarcadero. After we sat and enjoyed the view, everything went downhill from there. The server initially was timely, and we gave our full order at one time. Our wine came out promptly. It wasn't until 45 minutes later that we saw our server again, fortunately with our lunch orders. Half of our hot food was stone cold, the rest was warm. We had the fish tacos and sweet potato fries ($1 surcharge). The grilled fish was flavored okay with the Cajun spice, but the Creole Aioli added the real flavor. The greens and pico de gallo were fresh. The sweet potato fries were stone cold - it was hard to tell how good they were. I'm not sure they're worth the up charge. We also had the seafood salad. Fortunately, the crab was cold but the 3 shrimp were cool. The shell fish was moderately good and the greens were fresh, the blue cheese dressing was watery and had very few blue cheese crumbles, which I had to fish from the bottom of the dressing boat. Indicative of the slow table attention, a pigeon enjoyed some leftovers at the adjacent table. After we finished, I had to chase down our server to request our bill. Hostess provided excellent customer service! She realized I was pregnant so she brought my partner and I a menu with mocktails which was so sweet. I was blown away with how kind she was. We didn't know what a treat we were in for at Peohe's. It was chosen for us by some friends because it was near the Marriott and we'd just arrived and checked in. Husband and I have a long tradition of dining at Chart House restaurants wherever we find them, and it was clear from the walking in the door that this was once a Chart House and clearly is still totally affiliated. Our meal was delicious and beautifully presented, but the service was a bit haphazard, leading to a few mixed up things delivered incorrectly. They were quickly corrected, though. The view is spectacular and it is a high-end, white table cloth style place. It is more than we normally spend but it was a very special occasion and well worth the expense. read more

We decided to order to-go mainly because it's nice to have a 10% discount that they are currently offering and it was a beautiful day out so we wanted to eat outside it! It was a good thing that was our mindset going in to it though because they were booked up and could not seat us unless we had a reservation. We ordered at the bar and the bartender was super friendly; he needed to get the manager to get the discount applied to our bill as well as run the gift card we had! The manager was very friendly from start to finish of our entire interaction! The food took about 20 minutes to be ready so we went around the corner in front of the patio and found a spot in the grass to claim as our own, we got our food and had our little picnic with an amazing view and live music being played right on the sidewalk. We had bento boxes: one chicken teriyaki, one salmon. The chicken was pretty dry. The salmon was tasty, but the portion was pretty small. The rice was really dry. The lobster rolls tasted good, but visually they were not great, they were falling apart. The two salads were good: cucumber and slaw. The sourdough rolls were probably my favorite part of the meal - they were warm and fresh. Beautiful views, I'd come again, but I'd definitely order something else... They dropped water right away. We waited 15 minutes for the waitress to come over & take our drink order. I ordered a Lemon Drop with Kettle One. When another 15 went by, we tracked her down & she said they ran out of Kettle One & they had someone go out to get more!! What ⁉ When she finally brought the drinks , she gave my friend & I the same drink, I ordered a Lemon Drop, remember!! We ordered 4 appetizer's to share, they came out in good time and were very good! After eating, we ordered another round of drinks and it took another 15 minutes and we were sitting in the bar!!! Note: it was not busy! I asked the bartender why it was taking so long & asked him if he could make us our drinks, he said he needed the order to come from our waitress I am not kidding here! After my dining experience, I was not impressed at all and would not consider Peohe's an upscale or fine dining restaurant. Parking - Parking was okay for a weekday, but I can imagine the lot filling up for weekends. Dress - Dress is casual!!! I dressed a little nicer for this restaurant because I thought it was fancy but I saw women in yoga pants, men in flip flops and tank tops, very beach-like. Wait Time - I had made a reservation and was asked to wait to be seated, no more than 5 minutes. This is fine. However, another guest went up to the hostess stand, removed his mask to speak to the hostess and then proceeded to sneeze, with his mask off 3 times on the hostess in the direction of other guests. This is disgusting, even not in COVID times, and the hostess was clearly shocked to say anything. Definitely unsettling to begin my dining experience here. Atmosphere - With COVID, I am aware it's best to keep doors open for airflow but with that, I noticed a couple flies in the area near me. I also noticed that the floor had not been vacuumed before we sat there, with obvious trash and crumbs still under/around the table Food - Bread and butter: Was fine, they provide 3 rolls and butter with salt. - The Pupu Platter appetizer ($28): I enjoyed the Thai chicken spring rolls the most and the lobster CA roll and shrimp cocktail the least. The seafood seemed day old, definitely not fresh. - Chilean Sea Bass Pinot Noir ($48): The piece of fish was very modest, but the pinot noir sauce was very good. Food: I ate the Artichoke and Shrimp linguini, it was good, shrimp had good flavor and I felt it was "healthy-ish" because of the vegetables. The only downside is that one of the artichokes had one of the hard leaves left on the outside, so when I bit into that, it was not soft and chewy. So that kinda sucked. My wife got the salmon which was actually pretty well cooked and flavored. Plus, it was a decent portion. Calamari appetizer was good as well, shrimp cocktail was served on a fancy platter with dry ice which was cool, but still tasted like cold shrimp, haha... Atmosphere: Super cool inside and every table kind of has their own little "area" inside. It looks like you are in a giant fish tank. The ambiance is great as a date spot. Plus you can get a view of the bay from the east side of the restaurant. The surrounding area where Peohe's is has other shops and touristy things to do. Price: Not gonna lie, not a fan of the price tags. I was thinking prime rib but not for 40$. Most of the fish dinners were 30+ and outside of that, there really aren't many options. 19$ for 5 giant shrimp cocktail and 2.50$ for a drink refill... you can easily spend 120$ or more for a family of 4. Service: Our Server was nice, but we did have a large party and she did forget a few things. Au jus, extra drinks, little things like that. Was not a huge issue and we could see she was running around a lot, so we were generous with our tip anyway. Overall: Peohe's is not really my cup of tea (checkout other reviews). I mean, it's good but there was really nothing on the menu that I was thinking "Wow! That's unique! I want to try that!" So I end up spending 100$ for food that I probably could have made at home for a fraction of the price. Our waitress was Thuy, she was really nice and I kind of feel bad because my sister was a bit complicated (but you will see why). But the complaint isn't about her. We put in all our order from the lunch menu with Thuy while still waiting on 2 more people. A few minutes after that, someone came by and told us if we wanted to order from the lunch menu it has to be now, which we already did. But baffling to us because it wasn't even 3:00 yet for the dinner menu. A few minutes later the 2 from our party we were waiting for arrived. The same person came out and switched our menus and said we couldn't order the lunch menu anymore. Thuy came out and told us she only put our appetizers in but not the lunch order. After a little back and forth they made an exception since we had already order before the switch. I mean, really wasn't our fault that we "missed" lunch. I don't know if it's because of the large party, limited staff due to covid, or because of the lunch/dinner menu issue. The food took a while to come out. The pupu platter was ok. My wife and I made a reservation for our 33rd wedding anniversary. We had to wait 10 minutes beyond our reservation time and we were escorted past many wonderful open tables to seat next to a part of 20 or so people outside on the deck. Service was slow throughout though our waitress was nice. The food was very average for the price we paid. Our drinks took almost 20 minutes and the ice had pretty much melted in my drink by the time it arrived. Wait time made no sense as our waitress indicated that it wasn't that busy when we asked her. She checked in about every 20 minutes or so and never asked us how we like our meals - we didn't. For the time and effort we put in to make this a special occasion we were seriously let down. A week later we had dinner at Brigantine for less than half the price - food was much better and service was outstanding. You need to do better Peohe's! read more

Food is very pricey and not very good at all. Terrible service and the kitchen is super slow. Came here for dinner one night, it's on the island facing downtown so the night view of the skyline was super nice. We got a table outside on the patio with heat lamps to keep us warm. It can get windy and cold in the winter months. Ordered rolls to share and Mac and cheese for the kiddo. It took 30min and more to get our food. Not sure why sushi rolls were that hard to make?! And they didn't taste very good and still cost and arm and leg. Mac and cheese was not great either but kids don't care. Service was really bad. Drinks never refilled. Never saw our sever and by the time our food came out, we didn't have silverware or napkins or plates. And we had to ask for everything including the soy sauce for the rolls. The only thing that was good was the molten lava cake with macadamia ice cream which was a bit too sweet. Avoid! Not a good experience. read more

My daughter chose Peohe's to celebrate her 30th birthday. We drove down from Orange County to join her, her boyfriend, the boyfriend's parents (visiting from Philadelphia), and my son. Pros: Wonderful location, by the ferry landing, facing the downtown skyline. Inside, grotto-type feel as you enter. We had a perfect table where everyone had the view. We were seated less than 5 minutes after our 5:30 reservation. The rolls they serve are delicious. The two female servers were very nice. Cons: My wife and I felt the food was average. She had grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and clam chowder. I had grilled swordfish with coconut rice and sautéed squash. At $30-$50+ for an entree, salads and soups extra, the food doesn't justify the price. There were multiple mix ups with the drinks. I was served a second beer I didn't order, the wrong beer was brought for my daughter and her boyfriend (she just drank it), and the boyfriend had to wait too long for the right beer to arrive. My son finally had to ask for the second drink he ordered. Bottom line: I think you're paying for the location and the view. Would I come back? Maybe for lunch, or drinks and appetizers. This place is not what I remembered it to be. The first time I ate here was probably over 15 years ago.. and it used to be a fancy and expensive place for special occasions. Now it's just expensive and the food is "meh" at best. Don't get me wrong.. the views are still spectacular.. especially during sunset or at night.. but I wish the food matched the view. The ahi tuna looked discolored and not fresh.. as I'd it was previously frozen and was thawed days prior. The egg rolls seemed like they were also previously frozen.. The rice on the sushi and tuna stack was dry and hard like it was old and refrigerated. The lobster and shrimp roll was mostly shrimp and maybe a sprinkle of lobster. The bacon on the Cobb salad was also hard and seemed old. The shrimp was also dry. Unfortunately, I will not be going back to this place.. We were greeted with a very bright genuine smile by the hostess and seated on a booth facing the bay. Then our server Brandon soon brought the menus, took our drink order, then he told us he will be back with the drinks while we perused the menu. Brandon returned with our drinks and took our orders. I was so pleased to see our appetizer come in ahead of our main dish (as it should be since it is the appetizer), because in my experience with some restaurants, the appetizer was served with the same time as the main dish. The main dishes followed right after our appetizer was consumed. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the price does not break the bank. We were particularly happy with Brandon since he kept coming back to check on us, refilling our drinks, and just having cordial conversations. I recommend this place to everyone to try! It's frustrating when a restaurant is in a good location with nice views but the food does not meet expectations. We came here for lunch and ordered the crab and spinach omelette, fish and chips, seafood salad, lobster and crab roll, and the French onion soup. All were less than average in taste. The omelette was dry and salty and the potatoes that came with it were very greasy. The salad was just okay as was the lobster roll. The fish and chips were extra greasy. And I've had better French onion soup. And we had the calamari too which wasn't worth it. The service was very good and parking was okay. We normally come here for special occasions so we came here for my father's birthday brunch. When we were seated, we waited for almost 30 minutes when we realized everyone who came before us were served beverages and bread except for us. We weren't even given water. We called the attention of another server who kindly took our beverage and entree orders even though they were busy helping other people. He apologized for the wait and gave us a free dessert. We recommend the chocolate lava cake. We tried to be patient because we know they are short staffed. I'm just glad they didn't mess up our order. The food was pretty good. The view was beautiful. Great location, but the food was not so good. We've eaten there a couple of times since they opened in the late 80's. Once upon a time, their food was really good. But they have become one more tourist restaurant living off their location but serving lousy food. (Tourists are one-time customers who aren't going to return anyway. So you can get away with lower quality and still survive.) It was a Valentine's Day dinner. Sort of special occasion. The restaurant was pushing their 3- course meal. They somehow managed to wreck everything. The martinis had no alcohol.. They figured out how to mimic the taste. A great profit center for them by selling colored ice water. The lobster bisque was actually pretty good, but unfortunately came in a cup not much bigger than a thimble. Pretty sad when you have to do portion control on a cup of soup. It kept going downhill from there. The bread seemed like they microwaved some supermarket doughy rolls. The steak and lobster main course was very disappointing - the steak was so dry, I had to drink water with every bite. The lobster tail was tasteless. Their 3rd course -Red Velvet cake- had a tiny scoop of ice cream in a cake literally oozing out red food dye. We left the cake, ate the lobster, and brought the leftover steak home for the dog though I probably won't give it to him since my wife had to be near the bathroom for the rest of the night. My 2-star review was generous since one of those stars was for the view. So sad to see how far this place has fallen in the 35 years they have been in business. What a waste of $200 and a night out. There are better choices nearby on Coronado who still care about their quality and having return customers - il Fornaio and Tartines. We've never been disappointed at either. ---------------- Follow-up: As an additional item of interest, someone named "Sawyer A." from Peohe's Business Customer Service placed a comment on my review. The comment provided a link to their parent company's website. Sawyer asked me to provide any additional feedback. Well, I am not sure what else can be said. My review was very detailed. A customer service person having disingenuous interest rather than paying attention to what was being said by a dissatisfied customer will not solve Peohe's problem.
