Service Requested: Oil Change Value: Incredibly Low Listen to all the poor reviews! I assume they're being honest because they all align with my experience here. Had an appointment for 12pm. Arrived at 12, Jair stated it would be about 2 hours. Fair enough, we prepared for this situation by bringing two cars. Didn't get notification of the car STARTING to be serviced until 2:30. I can understand a short staffing or an irregularly busy day, but other reviews will validate these delays being normal. This location closes at 6pm on Sunday. By 5:45pm, we still received no word about the car being finished in the near future, so we just drove over. It's fortunate we live close, but if you live far, how can they guarantee they'll stay open for you to get your car? When we walked in, there was no waiting time. The car was evidently ready for a while. After the $25 oil change coupon, the total was $100. ONE HUNDRED for an OIL CHANGE. (More of a red flag of Pep Boys as a whole but) We WOULD NOT have scheduled any sort of service had Pep Boys been more transparent about their prices. Overall, not worth $20/hr. Save your money and save your sanity by taking your car literally anywhere else. They couldn't even be bothered to reset the oil change dash light. read more

do yourself a favor and GO TO JIFFY LUBE DOWN THE STREET INSTEAD. had an appointment for 12pm on sunday 6/21 for an oil change. was quoted for 2 hour wait. car didn't start getting worked on until 2:30pm per a text i FINALLY received. car was not ready until 5:30pm. ridiculous that it takes SO long when i had an appointment. maybe they should take less walk ins or even appointments if they're short staffed or... just slow. man at the front desk was ok at first, but when we went to pick up the car i would've appreciated an apology for the wait or delay because 5 hours for an oil change is ridiculous. i get that they check the car for other problems, but yeah rather than immediately hearing about all other problems that you want me to pay you for (which i won't be because i'm never coming back to this business), an apology for the wait would be a great courtesy/lovely customer service. also i got an oil change by juan and i'm sure he did a good job technically, but again service was insanely slow (2:30-5:30... does it take 3 hours??), and would it have hurt them to turn my oil maintenance light off on my dashboard? i'm going to you pros because i don't know anything about cars myself, so a little extra help would've gone a long way in my satisfaction. how am i even supposed to know if the oil change happened and that you guys didn't just charge me $105 for nothing? i doubt that's the case but again, it just would've been nice. also, seems pretty expensive when i've gotten great oil changes with great quick service for ~ $50 before, but that's on me for not asking any questions about price before dropping off my vehicle and keys. overall very unhappy with the experience. i know this review will do nothing to change how they operate and i'll probably just get an automatic response from the team, but hopefully this helps anyone like me who just wanted a quick and easy oil change but ended up just being unhappy with the entire situation. read more

I was in Anaheim visiting from San Diego when I ran over a piece of metal causing my tire to go flat. It was around 5pm when it happened and by the time I changed my tire out to the spare, it was about 5:30pm. I googled tire shops close to me and PepBoys came up as being the closets so I went there. They told me they couldn't patch it and wanted me to buy a new tire which I knew they were just lying to try and get me to purchase a new tire. When the tire technician first came out to inspect the tire, I already knew this by his verbal reaction I got as he was like, "Oh wow! That's a pretty big piece of metal, I don't think we can patch that. Plus, it looks like your tire tread is really low." I was like, "My tire's are only 14 month's old and are rated for 45k miles and I only drive about 15k miles per year and rotate my tires every oil change so what do you mean the tread is low?" Once I said that, his response was, "Well, we can only patch an area that is a quarter of an inch and that looks like it's going to be way bigger." I said, "Let's pull it out and see." So I did and it definitely was not bigger than a quarter of an inch. I will admit, it did look bad at first before pulling out the piece of metal but after doing so, I got the vibe they didn't want to patch it and just wanted to sell me a new tire which they confirmed after telling me this. So I googled another tire shop that was still open as most tire shops close at 6pm in the area and found G&G Tires that closed at 7pm. I pulled in at 5:50pm and was in and out in about 20 mins max. Tire was fixed and I was back on the road for $25. I was super impressed and grateful for their service and honesty as they could've said the same thing PepBoys did to try and sell me a new tire. I was first assured I would get my wheel replaced and refunded the original service, but that offer was withdrawn without any explanation. I have asked multiple times and have been reassured multiple times RON STOWE, the area manager, would reach out to me to resolve this matter and I haven't received a single call, text or email from him and it's been about 3.5 weeks now. Update: pep boys called me and had me come in and they made it right. Updated to 3 stars I brought my own oil and filter for pep boys to change. I usually change it myself but just moved and don't have all my equipment set up yet. Pep Boys poured all 5 quarts into my engine when it only takes 4.4. Quarts. When I asked the tech about it, there were no apologies. He just said "oh, I poured the whole thing". How does a place like Pep Boys not have in their checklist to check how much oil to pour into a specific car?! The booking and check in / check out process was great but that doesn't matter when they are overfilling your engine with oil. I called today and asked if I need to drain some of it out, and they just kept saying "you should be fine". And for only .6 quart over, the oil level is way over on the dipstick, makes me think they didn't want for the whole oil pan to drain. read more

Came in for an simple oil change and was refuse to get it service if I didn't get something fix which it didn't involve anything about changing my oil. They were trying to force me to fix other things which give them the right to refuse service. Poor customer service. I went to Jiffy Lube got my oil change and got my service done. Another incident that I had at this place, I had scheduled an appointment online for a tire rotation 9am. They didn't work on my car until one and an half hours later. A person came in to purchase a single tire and got service before I did. I know for a fact that person didn't schedule an appointment but got their service done quicker then mine. So I came in for alignment and 1 tire. I looked online and they were have a promotion for 15% off 2 tires and alignment was $90. When I got there after a quick check of my car Vinh advised there was 2 tires that possibly might need replacement. 1 that was balding and another that had a nail. And he showed me so I was fine with that. So we went to the register and he gives me the 1 tire and alignment estimate of $180. I asked him why. And he looked like he didn't expect me to ask. The tire was 62 and the alignment $90. He said the service fee and I again advised it was only $23 and then he said the warranty . Which I refused. So why do I have to ask more than 1 question to get a truthful answer. So he said they'd take it in and check all the tires before starting the service. So he came back after 10 min and said 3 tires needed to be replaced. He showed me the nails in 2 tires and the third was almost bald worthy. So I told him 2 tires bc I'm low on funds and then asked him about the promotion. I also showed it to him. He didn't want to accept the price and tried telling me a different one. I asked why and he said he'd do the math which I saw him do and it came out to the same price online. So finally he was like I'll give you the manager's discount if anything. So finally expecting the online price and after waiting for the car he came back to ring me up. He still charged me more than the online price by $8. Honestly by then I was just too done to argue. I paid and left. I'm not coming back here. They should be able to properly be able to explain charges for service without me playing 20 questions. They should also be honoring their online promotions if they say they do. I came here prior to calling them regarding pricing of a battery replacement for my Ford Mustang. They were super professional and very knowledgeable. I called a couple more places to compare price and they were a bit more pricey than the other place but they use a better battery brand. The whole process was very easy. We got there and they were ready for us. Everyone was masked and gloved, the technician was very careful and they did all payment remotely. They even gave me my keys back in a sanitized zip lock bag. Great location and Amazing service today at Pep Boys tire center and auto repairs. Vihn the sales associate was very friendly and professional service with accurate estimate of time needed to change two new tires. I arrived at 10:15 am on Saturday today and got two Kelly Edge tires with installation and roadside assistance. Everything was finished at 11:25 am when I received a follow up call from Vihn. I was still eating breakfast at IHOP International pancake next door to Pep Boys which is quite convenient for guests who have not had coffee or breakfast yet. Total cost of everything was $253 with 55,000 miles warranty and installation and roadside assistance program. They were very busy today but still managed everything on time as promised too. Disappointing! I'll have to change my review. I thought Thomas was honest. That's the reason I went to the Pep Boys store on Lincoln (Anaheim Town Square). Thomas stated that both oil change and rotation were done. The oil change was done but the tire rotation wasn't done. I only found out because I followed through with the proper receipt that I should have received. I was given the wrong receipt after that service. It's challenging to try to take off work and get car service done. Having to go back for tire rotation is very inconvenient due to my work demands. A few days ago, I got a nail in my tire. I hurried down to Pep Boys because it was nearest to my house. I got there at around 6:50 pm. I explained my situation to the to the person at the desk as he ate his sandwich. He said he was about to go home, and if I wanted, I could leave my car overnight. I decided to come back the next day a bit earlier. The same person was there and told me his mechanic left at 6:30 pm. But the place is open with no mechanic for another 30 mins?? Then he said that I could leave my car overnight. Again, I decided to wait one more day. I arrived Saturday morning right at the opening at 8 am. I walked inside and explained my situation. I said I had a nail in my tire, and I needed it patched. The person told me it would be over two hours. He had one mechanic. Finally, he told me they don't do tire repairs and that I should go elsewhere. That they're a mechanic. Since when does Pep Boys not work on tires? Fixing a tire takes about 5 minutes. I made an appointment to come in at 10 and get an oil change and arrived 10 minutes early. I waiting in the lobby for 20 minutes without seeing any employees so I called their number and then someone came to take the call. They checked my car in, gave me a price and said they'd call soon when it was ready. I did some shopping next door and came back an hour later and my car still hadn't been touched. At that point I just asked for my keys back because they clearly had no intentions of working on cars today. i came here after work to get a tire patched and a warranty to replace a wrong size battery that another Pep Boys (Tujunga) had put in. I was there for over four hours. The reasons were 1)No one knew how to drive a stick shift 2) They had lost my key (but didn't tell me until the end.) I had to argue more than once (taking to the manager twice) to get them to replace my battery. Today, I went to Jiffy Lube in Burbank to get an oil change. My battery died in the port ! I just got a brand new alternator, so that's not the problem . I opted to spend money on a brand new battery with a two year warranty. Went in today to get oil change and wheel alignment on my car using my Pre-Paid Maintenance booklet that I got when I bought my car through Hertz. I was told that since Hertz had filed for bankruptcy, the coupons were not valid anymore. I explained that they were part of my car purchase, technically I had paid for them. They said they couldn't accept them and I would have to pay $80 for oil change and $90 for wheel alignment. I ended up going to Lucky 7 Tire Center down the street where I got both the oil change and wheel alignment for $110. The following is why I decided to leave a 1 star review. About 30 minutes ago I received a phone call from Pep Boys telling me that somebody else went with the coupons after I left and they tried using them and they worked!! This means they told me what they did without even checking first to see if they could use them or not!! They asked if I wanted to go in to have the services done, I told them no thank you, so unprofessional and now I'm out $110 I wouldn't have spent if they had done their job. read more

I would not recommend coming to this location at all! I ordered some new tires online (amazon) and amazon gives you the option to have them installed if you choose to do so. So I did choose this place to have them installed at. I had my appointment at 9:00 am, dropped off my car and they told me it was going to be a 2 hour installation! I was okay with it and left to the store, they called me 1 hour later saying they never received the tires from amazon and that the size was wrong. When I got back to the shop I literally saw the tires just sitting there (the ones I ordered from amazon) and when I pointed it out, the guy was dumbfounded that I pointed it out. He didn't know what to say and just said umm, okay let me change it in the system ..? After all this interactions, it took another 3 hours for the job to be complete, didn't get the car back till 2pm. Well the tire had to be replaced, they said they had one and made me wait for a delivery from another store. They further stranded me by taking off the wheel and removing the tire so now I'm forced to do the job wether I felt like waiting or not. Well the tire in the system wasn't actually available and they wasted at least 2 hours of my time to end up with a spare on the car AND the original rim now doesn't fit with the tire in place of the spare, so they have to throw the tire in the back. Usual price for a service like that is, what $25? Got charge $45 for EACH filter. I've had a check-engine light scanned, an oil change, and huge brake job done at this location. I can say that they are respectful to women (which is a big deal to me) and showed and explained everything that they needed to do. They are polite and very accommodating, and never seem to be super busy. They helped us figure out payment for my car repairs and were consistently great in person. The one thing I can say is that they seem to be difficult to get on the phone. I really don't have a sense that they do unncessary work or do a horrible job (as compared to Sears Auto Center....thanks Sears. The last time I got an oil change (at this Pep boys location), the person ringing me up told me that I had a dented oil pan and that I needed to replace it the next time I had to get an oil change. Fast forward 6 months, and it's time for me to get another oil change. I called ahead and they quoted me around $600 dollars to replace an oil pan for labor + parts. When I brought my car in person, the mechanic looked at the oil pan, told me yes it was dented, but it was in okay condition and that I didn't need to replace it. The mechanic and the kind lady (Angela I believe her name was) were honest people and said, they have to make money to run their business but they don't like to steal it. so THANK YOU to the kind gentleman and to Angela for their honesty and letting me know that I did not have to do unnecessary repairs. Great customer service and I cannot express how grateful I am!!! I will be bringing my car here for all future services. You have my business moving forward. read more
