The manager stated that they had about twenty appoints scheduled for that day but told me that sometimes those appointments don't show up so I decided to wait. This store took a nose dive into don't waste your time here town. I wait times are outrageous had an Appointment for an oil change at 2 pm my truck was not touched until 7 I paid for full service includes a bunch of fluid check and filter change, and literally all they did was change the oil and said nothing about it to me. When I figured about 30 minutes later I was told "sir you know we are clearly backed up you've been complaining about it all afternoon. The That's a we have time for you used a coupon for for full at a change only price you got what you paid for" the And that was it. They then sold me drivers side mirror less then 5 minutes later I walked to my truck I realized that it was broken and useless. This review is for the Budget Truck Rental inside Pep Boys: I would like to share about our terrible and very scary moving experience using a Budget truck and trailer our of the Pep Boys location in Austin, TX . We spoke with the Budget customer service department via phone about a week ago, and the woman only refunded us a very small amount for the equipment malfunctions we had on our trip. After 2 shredded tires on 2 different days and a crack in the actuator of the trailer (making it unsafe to drive, and I was following the trailer the entire time), we spent an extra day on the road, paid for an extra hotel stay, an extra day of meals, an emergency pet visit for my dog due to being out in the heat waiting for maintenance, 7 hours total waiting for the truck maintenance guys (we waited the first time for over 2 hours and the next time for over 4 1/2 hours in the heat of the day!!), rescheduling twice with our movers, paying an extra day of rent and utilities, and my husband missing his work orientation. Talk about frustrating and terrifying! We both had a mental breakdown on this trip, and our previous call to customer service resulted in the representative saying there was nothing she could do besides refund the cost of the trailer. We are usually loyal customers to a single brand if their customer service is unbeatable. We would have expected the company to go above and beyond to make up for the poor equipment and the poor service during this trip. Given this experience, we are unhappy with the service and with Budget's lack of rectifying the situation following our trip. A refund for the trailer does not even begin to make up for the frustrations we experienced. We had a horrifying experience, and we feel compelled to tell all of our friends and family never to use Budget again. read more

I arrived last week on a cold rainy day before work with a simple request to replace the fluid in my radiator. I was received courteously and punctually. There was a concern that there may be a larger issue in light of just having spent $1,000 the previous week for a new radiatior and hoses on my older model BMW. Manager George McCann offered to drop me off at work close by while they ran a block test to assess the damage. Upon returning for my car, Mr. McCann and his mechanic described in detail that the head gasket had blown prior to the recent radiator replacement,and that if I wanted to keep the car, I would need a new motor. The generosity of expertise and excellent service eased the sting of the bad report about my car. I walked away savvier about car maintenance and feeling blessed with uncommon service!...I will definitely come back! read more

They denied service since, 1. full booking 2. lift problem 3. full booking What I wanted was engine oil change, state inspection. This Pepboys location has helped me out NUMEROUS times this year keeping my old car on the road. They are often pretty busy at this location, but I have had SO much help from David, Gill, and especially the mechanic Roland who have gone out of their way time and time again to make sure my car is safe and still going strong. There is a Pep Boys by my house and I have been going there for probably 8 years. The batteries they sell there always seem to die in about 2-3 years and each time I go in to have a battery replaced they never have any record of me purchasing a battery there so I always have to pay full price. I have always suspected that they were purposefully deleting my warranty information from their system so that they would not have to honor my warranty but I could never be sure since 2.5 years is about the time that my memory fades. Well I bought a battery 7 months ago and made a mental note that this time would be different b/c I am sick of spending $90 every 2-3 years on a battery. Well my girlfriend's battery died today and we bought that at Pep Boys as well. So I went in with the battery and gave her phone number so that they could pull up the warranty.....surprise surprise no information. Out of curiosity I asked them to pull my name up to see if my recent purchase was on there.....nothing. This time I was 110% sure I bought the battery there. My girlfriend had to spend 20 minutes looking over old credit card statements but we eventually found the receipt. Turns out they also claimed that the battery was much older than it was so that they could pro rate it for less. I ended up having to pay more than half of the cost of the battery despite the 72 month pro rated warranty after the initial 2 year replacement. I don't know what kind of depreciation schedule that reduces trade-in value by over half in 7 months into a 72 month warranty. Anyway moral of the story is: POOR QUALITY PRODUCTS, AWFUL WARRANTIES, AND DISHONEST PEOPLE....oh and keep your receipts too. If this is how they do batteries I can't even imagine how bad they screw you if you take your car to get repaired there. If you have repairs that need to be done go to Don's Automotive on South 1st....cheap, high quality and honest. I will say that the staff is pretty nice but so are most con men....so you decide. read more

The folks at pep boys are in no rush, so I hope you aren't either when you get there. Don is the only helpful person at the desk, but he's not the best multitasker. If you catch him in the middle of doing something on the computer or on the phone you will absolutely stand there until he's done, which may be a while. I went to Pep boys to repair a flat tire, which they did. However, the next day it was flat again. They finally diagnosed it as a bent wheel and sent me to Hub Cap Annie to fix it. Would have been nice to know that the first time, rather than trying to drive a car with a flat to Pep Boys TWICE. During one of my visits to the office, I was all checked out but the guy (not Don) couldn't locate my key. I sat through a 5 minute phone call that he took for no reason while I was about to get out the door. He ignored me the entire time while I was trying to point to my keys on the wall, why he didn't check their first or locate my keys before taking the caller off hold is beyond me. read more

These guys are great. They saved me over $400 over what the Nissan dealer was going to charge me to replace a sensor on my Rogue. Another time I had a slow leak on one of my tires...they patched the tire for free (and I didn't even buy the tires there)! Very nice workers & not condescending to women. 8/3/2009 I visited Pep-Boys because the front driver side tire was losing air that they repaired after removing a nail (I noticed the nail & took it to the shop, the tire barely lost air from the nail, so there wasn't much damage from the nail) 5 weeks ago! Service Manager 8917 Research Blvd. Austin TX 78758; said that he has no time today for a flat-repair (they close at 9pm). They have no time for any more work today (I noticed three empty bays outside & several mechanics roaming around; barely 2 or 3 work-order in the shop-folder that he pointed me to). I asked if they can put the spare on & he refused citing no resource. I asked for corporate head-office number (I purchased the tires from Pep-Boys with full road-hazard warranty & yearly alignment plan) & Service Manager gave me his shop's phone number. I pointed out that this is his shop & he said that he will answer the phone! Then he suggested another Pep-Boys is 7 miles ahead. So I asked if he can look at the tire to see if I can drive that far. Looking at the tire he said that they are bald & I need four new tires! Quoted me $372 - $64 mail-in rebate = $308 for four & promised 1.5 hour service if I buy. I asked how come this changed now; he said that he will put me ahead of waiting customers that are in the lounge! They won't know! 185 60 15 speed - radius - inch; I am 10,000 miles away from my 60,000 miles warranty on tires. Bought in 11/4/2006 2 years 10 months has passed (3 years/60k miles warranty) so, I am still under warranty. Pep-Boys policy is either get pro-rated price or buy three & get one free by mail-in rebate (another pain of paper works); not both. Anyway, I am amazed at his lying about having to wait for a day for a free flat-repair to 1.5 hours for 4 tire replacement (new stem cover, rotation, alignment everything in an hour & thirty minutes). It is totally understandable to wanting to generate revenue through sales but I found dishonesty & deception on the part of service provider! The next day (Tue, Aug 4, 2009) I sent the above note to corporate head office "CEO" via email. 3 hours later I received a call from Area General Manager. He asked what he can do to fix things & I said that I don't feel comfortable to go back to the store. He immediately wanted me to give half off on four tires. I asked him that I am not out to take discounts by making complains & he should at least first check the story with the service manager. The AGM said that he will call me back but never got back till this day in mid October 2009! He did mention that he is on his way from San Antonio to Austin to check things out. Immediately after the call from AGM, I got another call from Divisional VP; & I mentioned that AGM is already taking care of things for me! I also request him to read the store's review online! On 8/17/09 I got set of four Michelin - Harmony Item #: 195293 tires ($417.51 final price after $70 off any set of 4 Michelin brand tires, limited 80,000 mile manufacturer's warranty & Lasts up to 15,000 Miles longer Than the Competition) at Costco & 5 year $199 transferable alignment at NTB (transferable to anyone or any-car). I started writing this review with subject, "It could not have been worse than this!"; then I just called the store & asked for that specific Service Manager & I was told that he is no longer with them! I am sure HQ was aware of bad reviews & did what is best for the company! Now I changed this rating from "Poor!" to "Excellent!" & changed subject to: "All's well that ends well". I wish them all the very best. A friend just convinced me to change this to POOR: "If I were you I would have given them 1 star. Here's why: - You're just "assuming" that the service manager was let go. You have absolutely no proof. He could have left on his own will for a better paying job at an even more dishonest company. - Whatever outcome Pep-Boys decided on, the Area GM or someone had the obligation to inform you the decision as part of customer service. You have absolutely no feedback from the corporate office as to how your situation was handled. The most unbelievably bad service you can imagine! Daughter brings in stalled car to have estimate. I'm told the engine needs to be replaced. Call back to discuss what needs to be done, and am told the car has been towed from Pep Boys along with other cars that had been sitting for a long time, even though mine had only been there for a few days. Call the tow service and am told they don't have it. So, where's my car? A year and six months later, that's right a year and a half after I was told it can't be located, it gets towed from Pep Boys to the impound lot with numerous fees attached. Don't ever go there!!! Trust me if you go here you will have one of the following or both which is normal to. Avoid this place at all cost!!! If I could give a big fat 0 I would!! Went in when my car overheated and was told it was the radiator and had to be completely replaced. So I did.Cost $1700! The very next day I heard the most awful sound I had ever heard from under my hood, took it back they said it was the clutch and a/c compressor and was told it also had to be completely replaced. so I did. Cost $662. The VERY next day woke up to hear a different louder noise and oil leaking all over my driveway! Unfortunately they couldn't find my purchase in the system, however the sales manager noticed my family and I were active customers at pep boys - and happily offered to replace my battery and clean my terminal cables for only $13 and some change! Never Again - I went in on October 4th for tires. I went on line the night prior and scheduled an appointment for 9AM. From past experience, I know I would still need to wait before being seen but made an appointment anyway. I was checked in at 9, chose tires and went into the waiting room. Two and half hours later, I check in at the service bay and see my car has finally been pulled in but nothing has been started so I continued to wait. Sitting around I discovered the garage was only operating with two people, one a new trainee and the other a senior employee. A few minutes later I'm informed the tires I ordered were not in stock but the store did upgrade me to the next tire up at no additional cost. My car was finally finished at about 12:15 or 12:30. While I do sympathize with the staff being shorthanded and appreciate the upgrade in the tires, it shouldn't take over two hours to complete a simple tire change. People value their time and the store should realize this and make changes to improve service. There are other places that cost a little more for tires and I'll be going there after this experience, low prices mean nothing if it costs you more in waiting time. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED COSTUMER! If I could not give them a STAR I would!! They do not deserve even half of one after the way I was treated for over two months! I purchased a scooter on November 21, 2011. I was told I would be able to pick the scooter up in a couple of days after some minor repairs were complete, or so I thought they were minor. I called four days later to check on the status of my scooter. The day after I purchased the scooter I bought insurance for it and had it registered. I was prepared to enjoy my new purchase, however it is January 19, 2012 and I still have no scooter. I visited the store, made several phone calls and was always given the run around. Fast forward a month and I visited the store because I was told that all we were waiting on was the inspection and that it would be complete on that day. I was given the run around again for over 2 hours. I waited and waited and was told they were waiting on their inspector to get there. Once the inspector arrived I was told that there were problems with the scooter and I was not going to be able to take my purchase home again. Very disappointed, I finally spoke with a kind man, Derrick. He gave me his personal cell number and told me to contact him with any questions or concerns. Although he was very kind, he to gave me the run around. He took over my "case" and said he would handle things from here on out. Hopeful, I waited another few days. I texted him on several occasions, called the store and was given the response that they were waiting on the part to arrive. Fast forward another month, I am told to come and pick up my scooter. The carburetor has been replaced, inspection is complete and bike is ready for pickup. I show up with a friend of mine that has the exact scooter. He jumped on it, tried all the signals, drove it around the parking lot and when he came to a stop said, "There are no front brakes!" What??? I was so angry and so disappointed once more. Come to find out they had never even opened the valve to put break fluid in. So how did it pass inspection???? There were other missing parts that were to be replaced and never were. I was done! I demanded a full refund. I was told that since it is a motor vehicle their would be no refund. I was dumbfounded. I could not believe the treatment I received. I left the store angry and very upset. The next day I called several times and finally decided to go and sit until someone would talk to me, I had also gone to the registration office to ask for paperwork to handle this matter. I was given the correct paperwork and took it to Pep Boys and sat and waited for 4 hours until I was eventually reimbursed the full amount of the scooter. I will NEVER recommend nor will I ever step foot in a Pep Boys store again and I recommend you do the same! read more

My 16 yr old son took the jeep in on a sunday to have a break job. He arrived at 12:30, they took off the tires, said all 4 breaks should be done and the rotors turned. They told him to have a seat. Four hours later and they had not even touched it yet. We told them to forget it and put the tires back on as he could not wait any longer. I will never do business there again. read more

I recently bought four new tires at this location and of course in order to qualify for the special they were advertising at the time (buy 3 get 1 free), I had to buy their premium installation package. This installation package itself was about the price of one of those tires, so in essence it didn't really save me all that much. With this premium installation package, I was to have lifetime road hazard warranty and rotations. Well just the other day, I noticed a slow leak in one of my tires. I looked and saw a nail that was embedded in the treads. So I took it to the Pep Boys location where I originally bought the tires from. I arrived at around 3PM and the Assistant Service Manager in the tire shop told me he had other cars in front of me and that it would be about 1-1.5 hours wait. I told him I could come back and he said okay. He said "come back between 4-4:30...closer to 4:30PM". Well I left and came back at 4:30PM and saw the same man at the counter...he obviously didn't recognize me when he asked "How may I help you?" and had a blank look in his eyes. I told him I had an appointment at 4:30 to service a tire that had a nail in it and to go ahead and rotate my tires since this is part of the premium installation package I had purchased from them previously. He wrote up the ticket and took my keys and said I was the next car in line. So I went to the waiting room and waited for an hour. Since no one came to get me, I went to see if my car was finished. This time another Assistant Service Manager was on duty and the original Assistant Service Manager was clocking out and left the premises. After standing at the desk for 5 minutes, the new Assistant Service Manager finally asked me how he could help. I asked him if my car was ready. He proceeded to start looking everywhere for my work order and couldn't seem to find it. I could hear him say that he can't find the hard copy. He looked in a drawer and pulled out my keys. They weren't in any sort of clear plastic envelope as all of the other cars' keys were. It was as if they were put there and forgotten. He then told me I was next in line. Really?? I was told that an hour ago. My car had not been moved and was still sitting in the parking lot. So I told the Assistant Service Manager this and he said they were "severely understaffed". I told him all I wanted was my tires rotated and a nail pulled out and that I had an appointment at 4:30PM and it was now 5:30 and my car hadn't even been pulled into the bays. He just shrugged his shoulders and offered no other remedies other than to say they were understaffed. So I took my keys and left. It seems as if though the original Assistant Service Manager just took my keys and stuck them in a random drawer with no intention of every servicing my car. Maybe he knew that he wouldn't be getting any money out of me since the work was covered under a premium installation package I had purchased previously. I really don't know why I was snubbed. At any rate, it looks like I'm going to have to pull the nail out/plug the tire and rotate them myself at home. What a waste of money that this installation package is. I'm never going back to this Pep Boys location again. read more

At first the experience seemed like it was going to be great. I arrived at PEPBOYs and got great deal on some new tires for my car. I decided to leave my car at PEPBOYS and I was quoted two hours it took four hours. While my car was in PEPBOYS care they called me to ask if I wanted to replace the air filters and the belts I said no I was there for tires and they shouldn't be under the hood of my car. When my car was finally done I picked it up and took it home. A few days later I went to get my inspection done come to find out while in PEPBOYS care the mechanic had gone under the hood of my car to "check" the radiator fluids and NEVER PUT THE CAP BACK ON the fluids were almost gone and I was incredibly lucky that my engine didn't burn up. PEPBOYS when a customer comes into your shop for tires stay just replace the tires. ALWAYS CHECK OVER YOUR VEHICLES CAREFULLY BEFORE LEAVING PEPBOYS! read more

I used to feel trapped having to come back here because of the warranty I bought, had to have a tire replaced and was pushed off multiple times over a 3week period. They hired a new service manager by the name of Gil Huron that went hand over foot to complete the job for me and even bought me a beverage for the wait out of his own pocket! I made arrangements with the South Austin Pep Boys to replace a window regular/motor after work (5:30p on a Friday), but when I called them to ensure they had the parts, I was told the parts were still at the North store. Since the window was stuck in the down position and I needed this repair made before the weekend, I offered to pick up the part myself. JR, at Pep Boys North, greeted me and assured me they had the part. When I asked if they could schedule the repair immediately to save me a trip back to the South store, he made arrangements and had me ready for cash-out in under 2 hours, which is the normal time required for these types of repairs. I saved $120 by going to Pep Boys as opposed to going to the dealership, not to mention the fact that Pep Boys has extended hours of service that worked perfectly with my schedule. I appreciate JR's friendly and professional customer service and will use this shop again. read more

This place is seriously by far the worst place to go to for any mechanical work. My battery died and took it in there to get a new battery and alternator. They informed me that I needed all 4 new tires as well. I spent over 2k on these things. When my car was returned to me my AC was no longer working. Confused since I had just bought a brand new compressor a couple of years ago I brought my car back. When they looked at it they said that it was not their fault and that I need to buy a new AC compressor every few years which is completely false. I just had another shop look at my compressor and discover pep boy DID in fact CUT a wire in my compressor and drained all the freon as well!!!! Livid and will NEVER by any means take my car there again. read more

Made an appointment for 9 am and put that I'd wait for my car to get done. Sit in Austin traffic and get there by 8:45. Was told it was truck day so they had one tech unloading and one in the bay and that my car was difinetely not going to get put in the bay any time close to 9. So I re-schedule for the next day at 9 am since they're supposed to be fully manned. He put in the system that I'd wait for my car. I sit in Austin traffic again. I'm one exit away and get a phone call from them. The guy tries to convince me to either drop my car off or re-schedule to a time when I can drop my car off. So now I'm going somewhere else. If your appointment system doesn't work then get rid of it. I could understand later in the day delays building up and pushing people back. But that early in the morning? Come on, don't make promises just trying to get people in the door, mechanics are busy enough that you could have a full work load without an appointment system or at least not giving the option to say you'll wait. read more

Do not go to this place! I called to set up an appointment to get service done on my vehicle and update my already made appointment to get more work done and the representative I spoke to was actually the District Manager Frank. This "District Manager" gave me a quote for getting all four of my wheels done (Rotors and Brake pads) quoted me around $250-300 with a coupon too and as soon as he gave me that quote I thought it sounded too good to be true so I questioned him and he told me that price is correct. I went in for my appointment and the representative on duty this morning said that there was no update to my order, and that the price i was given was incorrect and had no idea where Frank the "District Manager" got the numbers he gave me. They tried to charge me a $650-700 to get the service I needed done and was not going to honor what their boss gave me for a price. I was even told by Frank he was going to be there today and the person I spoke to this morning said he has no idea of him coming in the store today because he does not live in Texas, he is a district manager. I even asked if they record their phone calls and they do not, horrible customer service. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AND WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. I GOING TO FIRESTONE FOR NOW ON. read more

I went for an oil change at this Pep Boys (on 183 N. near Burnet Road). I use synthetic oil and the price is competitive or lower at Pep Boys than other businesses. Also I have a free Pep Boys Rewards membership which provides coupons. Brian helped me for the oil change. First he determined to save me time, I should make an appointment. I came in at that time and Brian had the car taken immediately to perform the oil change. It does take at least 45 minutes for an oil change at Pep Boys. They include a tire rotation and often they check the vehicle for minor maintenance this is needed soon (wiper blades, belts, hoses, air filters, fluids, etc.). Roanoke TX PepBoys: Called before I went in and was told they had the four tires I was looking for "IN STOCK" and it turns out they only had 3, which they did not bother to tell me, while they were performing an oil change and removing tires from my vehicle the store manager had gone to another location to pick up the 4th tire needed and only after he had gotten back did the mechanic, not the manager, notice he had picked up the wrong tire!! Was told since I had to wait or come back later while they went to get the correct tire that I would get the oil change for free for my trouble. After waiting for and hour the tire finally shows up and they put on. While checking out I am told the oil change would have on been free if I had gone and come back "not what I was told"!! After paying I go out to get into my car and notice all kinds of residue on my rims, the stuff they use when putting tires on the rims, they didn't bother cleaning off after installing, the guy from behind the counter came out with a rag and did a cursory wipe and still looked like you know what! Said the heck with it and left. I will just do it myself!! As the saying goes, if you want it done right do it yourself!! Will never go back to Pep Boys again..... read more

I am going to try and keep this as short as possible. I brought my car into the shop due to fact it wouldn't start. I had a master mechanic look at my car and tell me what was wrong with it. Turns out it was a part Pep Boys fixed a year ago and was still under warranty so I brought it to them. The car sat there for 1 week in their shop before anyone called. After calling them to check on it nothing was done. They decided it was the battery.... even though I know it wasn't. I talked to 4 different people and they all gave me different answers on the problem. I went to pick up my battery to return it since this was also under warranty with Chevy. I get there and surprise! they cut of the warranty sticker. They basically screwed me into having to buy a 200 battery from them but I had no choice. On the drive home my speedometer doesn't work,gas gauge doesn't work and the car is over heating. Stopped to pull over open my hood and two rags are stuck in the hood. Back to the master mechanic ... he said they must of messed with the ground that is the code showing up. Took it back expecting them to fix it.... 3 days later nothing done. They said they cant fix it ... So WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL ME???? or tell me that when I called you and told you the code I was getting? They completely screwed me twice! NEVER GO HERE! I am now taking my car out and paying for the issues that should have been free since they were the ones that messed it up from the beginning. I DO EXPECT PEP BOYS TO SOMEHOW CORRECT THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY FOR ME!!!! I have documented all this and have papers from the other mechanic stating they did in-fact damage my car more....
