I went to this pepboys 2 days ago to get my breaks replaced they up charged me quoting me $1600 and when I got there they wanted to charge me approximately $3000. Then when I got it back the breaks were worse than before and the wheel was out of alignment. I can't believe they charged 1600 for a horrible break job needless to say I had to take my car into another shop to get it repaired again. These mechanics are scammers and they will return your car in worse condition. I do not recommend them if I could I would give them 0 stars. read more

I had a brake repair done at Pep Boys, paying roughly around $2400, only to experience brake failure just a couple days later. While I was on the freeway with my toddler in the car. This was a serious safety risk. They only offered a $400 refund which is completely unreasonable given the danger involved. I repeatedly tried to contact corporate and they have failed to respond. My experience at the Pep Boys location on W Burbank Blvd was one of the worst automotive service experiences I've ever had. I brought my 2018 Jeep Wrangler in for a no-start issue. The store diagnosed it as a bad starter and proceeded to replace the starter seven separate times, each time using refurbished parts. After every repair, the vehicle failed again with the same exact symptoms and had to be towed back repeatedly, all at my expense. The issue was never fixed, and the symptoms never changed. Instead of performing proper diagnostics, this location kept replacing the same part over and over. I spent over $1,100, not including towing costs, and was left with a vehicle that still would not start. After days of failed repairs, they suddenly claimed that my engine was seized, which made no sense given that the vehicle previously ran and even showed a cylinder misfire code--something that cannot occur if an engine is seized. This felt like a deflection after repeated misdiagnosis and failure to repair the vehicle. The professionalism at this location was also extremely concerning. The service manager, Romik Petrosian, became so frustrated that he cursed out another Pep Boys service employee at a different location (Culver City) over the phone because he did not want to complete the service work. This incident was documented. Witnessing that level of unprofessional behavior only reinforced my lack of confidence in how this store operates. To make matters worse, I repeatedly attempted to escalate this issue to corporate management. I was told that Art Gonzalez (Corporate Area Director) would contact me. Despite requesting his contact information numerous times through customer service and through Romik Petrosian directly, I never received a call or response, even after waiting weeks. There was zero accountability or follow-through from corporate leadership. This experience cost me money, time, and unnecessary stress, and I ultimately had to remove my vehicle and take it elsewhere for a competent, independent diagnosis. Replacing the same part three times without resolving the issue is not repair--it is negligence. The lack of professionalism and the complete failure of management escalation make this experience even worse. I strongly recommend avoiding this Pep Boys location entirely. If you value your vehicle, your money, or basic professional treatment, take your business elsewhere. read more

Checked my tires, refilled back up with air to tire specs and did not charge me. I must have said thank you four times. Great care at first. They were more than happy to provide a higher quality battery than the one I currently had in my car. This was done a couple weeks ago. Fast forward to present I had problems with my car took it to our trusted mechanic to do the work. Upon finding out that the battery that Pepboys put in may have a drained cell. Well I contacted Pepboys wanting my battery replaced, definitely within warranty. I was given the run around. Decided to have my mechanic call and f**kin liars (Pepboys) they tried feeding this bullshit to my mechanic telling him that "They've replaced the battery twice within the last few months!" Nice try Pepboys, Pepboys only installed a battery once in my vehicle! So I've decided to file a small claims against them. Well they should have done the right thing and Honored their Warranty, now instead I'll be taking them to small claims for not replacing the battery time lost from work as well as whatever the court may provide me. This place over charged me and didn't explain the price of parts and labor separately, which is shady. I went in for a simple 10 minute job, (replacing 2 lightbulbs) and didn't want to make an appointment with my mechanic of 20 years for something so small. However, I called my mechanic afterwards to express my frustration about my Pep Boys experience. Seems they aren't what they used to be, they used to be happy to install a light bulb or windshield wipers at no extra charge. I'm mad at myself for not asking for separate labor price, I was charged $20 per $5 bulb, as I would have run away and done the job myself saving myself $40. Instructions on YouTube. Went there to have my driver's side blend door actuator fixed. Immediately when I got the car back, I noticed something was wrong, that's on me for deciding to just live with it instead of taking the car back and asking them to fix it right. But ever since I've taken it in, my AC/air takes 5-10 minutes to kick on, something that never happened before. Now just over a year later, the same part has broken again. I don't know if they used a crappy part or if it wasn't properly fixed. But of course now I'm past the limit of any kind of warranty. I'm now looking into fixing the issue myself, turns out it's actually pretty easy. I just have to pop a panel off and replace 1 part, it's just a matter of unscrewing it and plugging it in. They charged me just under $500 for that, and it broke again within a year. I will advise everyone to stay far away from this place. read more

I went into Pepboys for them to replace 2 of my tires. While doing so, they broke one of my tire sensors and replaced it, but the TPMS light kept going off. They didn't even inform me that they broke it until I called, and front desk Romik told me it'll go off on its own eventually. It did not; each time the light would be off when I started my car, but flash again after around 30 minutes of driving.  I returned and instead of fixing the problem, Romik told me that the TPMS light was on because my 3 other tire sensors were dead and needed replacing. Even though I asked him how could that be, because there was no issues before they messed with my tires, he kept insisting that my other 3 sensors were the problem. I made the mistake and paid over $400 to replace the other 3 sensors, like he advised.  After they replaced them, the TPMS light was STILL ON. I brought my car in a total of 4 different times to get it fixed, and each time after many hours of waiting, they couldn't fix the issue and would give me the run around. I finally called corporate, and they had the district manager Jabra Kidess speak with me. He was very rude and condescending and told me they're "not in the refund business," they are in the "car repair business." Ummm, how ironic because they are the reason why my car is even having issues, and they still can't fix the problem THEY created! In the end, after another round of failing to fix my car, Jabra finally reimbursed the charge and Romik told me I could go to Burbank Tire Pros to get it fixed. They told me I would get reimbursed for getting it fixed, but didn't specify that it HAD to be Burbank Tire Pros. I went to another shop near my work and Jabra refused to reimburse me, even though Romik told me on the phone that I would be fully reimbursed. I had to call the Bureau of Automotive Repair to get Jabra to reimburse partial (not even half) of what I paid at the other shop.  Avoid going to Pepboys, especially this location, at all costs! They are extremely incompetent, and district manager Jabra will not be of any help with any problems that arise! Not being a car person, I trusted their judgment and quickly realized that they do not care about what happens to you after they take your money. They will do anything they can to avoid giving you a refund, wasting hours and hours of your time and energy. They do not own up to their own mistakes and will always blame it on you! read more

Took my car in for an oil change and asked to have my brakes checked because I was driving to another state. When they called me they said I needed an oil change and all four of my brakes and rotors needed replacing, totaling $1,300. I was confident my brakes weren't that bad so I took my car home and inspected them myself, only to find that not a single brake or rotor needed replacing, confirmed by multiple other people. As a female, taking your car into a mechanic is always a cat and mouse game but they definitely take advantage of you here. I was charged for an alignment that was never performed. Shortly after getting new tires ($1600) with Pep Boys, I went out of town, so I didn't notice the issue at first. Upon my return, I went on a 200 mile trip and realized the tires were clearly not aligned. Since it was 30 days after the "service", they couldn't fix it without me paying for another alignment. Not once but several times these gentlemen at Pepboys in Burbank off N. Hollywood Way and Burbank Blvd. have been so gracious and helpful. Today I had a puncture light warning for my right rear tire thus I pulled into my pep here in Burbank as they are close and have given me in the past wonderful service (unlike the poor service I got from another local pep boys just off I5 and Alameda where they act as if customers should bring them gifts of appeasement prior to entering their establishment). At Pepboys of Burbank (2502 W. Burbank Blvd.) they take me right in, often little or no waiting, and like this morning looked at my tire, no puncture and filled all my tires back up with air at no charge. The manager says your tires were low from the drop in temperature (our mini hurricane that hit lastnight) yet no puncture. Here are your keys you and have a good day:) This is not the first time they have done this, thus why I continue to go to them and ever over my dealership as they are so nice, friendly, courteous and accommodating the likes of which we do not often get in the days of indignant un customer service providers:) I find it comforting if not inspiring that these gentlemen who run and work at Burbank Pepboys are so nice and really do provide that level of service and at times when clearly they are making no money and it is simply kind hearted help they offer. Not letting me know that there was other cars in front of me when I showed up at my time. About an hour and a half later, they haven't even started my car, so do not go here, do not make an appointment. They do not hold up to their appointment times. I do not recommend this place. I went several times for oil changes, and they incorrectly recorded the mileage on my car. During a visit to the dealership for some car repairs, they asked for my oil change records, and the records they provided were wrong. If I could zero stars I would. Don't do it!!!! Save your money and your time. I took my truck here to have a heater core replaced, which requires removing the dash board. One of the reasons I decided to go with them was that they offered a 1 year warranty on the parts and labor(for a price). When I went to pick up the truck and pay they informed me that they no longer could offer that warranty as they had to bring in an outside mechanic to do the work so they could only offer the regular 90 day parts and labor. They did the work, I picked up my truck and immediately heard a rattling under the dash, took it back they had forgotten to tighten something. There were also extra parts(screws) left in my cup holder that they had no idea where they went. Went to the gas station filled up only to find that now my gas guage was not working correctly. Called them to discuss the issue and they told me that it had nothing to do with the work they did. I explained that the guage worked when I dropped it off and they told me that it must be a coincidence and that they would not even look at it. Several days later my door locks stopped working due to a short in the wiring in the dash. I again took it back to have them try to resolve the matter. They again said it was not their fault, dismissed me and handed me a business card to a auto electrical guy but said that they were not responsible. I have owned this vehicle for 9 years and have never had any issues with it until these guys touched it. read more

Pep Boys at 3514 Burbank Blvd cost me $550.00 for an Oil change! This is quite possibly the most important review I have ever written. I brought my car into this Pep Boys for an oil change. I have been using this one particular store in Burbank since before the pandemic. It may be important to note that my car is a 2014 Hyundai Veloster and I am just past the 30,000-mile mark. I don't put a lot of miles on my car. I am also very particular about who works on it. There used to be a manager at that store whose name escapes me. He was kind, communicative, & helpful. Because of him I purchased the Lifetime tire rotation package and continued to bring my car to Pep Boys. At the end of every service, he would tell me if there was anything that needed to be addressed before I left. Sept 29th, 2023 I brought my car in and there was new staff. They were less than friendly. More business than personable. Style is style. I dropped my car off to have my oil changed. I received the call that my car was done. I picked it up with the paperwork, was given an okay and I left. Only when I arrived home, I received a text from Pep Boys with a link to a report. There was an issue that needed my immediate attention. BIG, BOLD & RED. My Coolant was bone dry and needed my immediate attention. If that was the case, why didn't they tell me while my car was there so that they could have addressed it? I also found damage on the passenger side of my car. I called right away to address these two issues. The first one, I took care of, myself. I walked to Autoparts and got what I needed. The second one... Well, the manager appeared to be cooperative & suggested I come in, we can look at shop cameras. I felt this was a great idea & returned right away. Conveniently, all the cameras worked except the one pointing at the location where my car was damaged. The Manager had offered to have "His guy" fix the damage or corporate pay for the repair. I was going to accept his "guy" but as I said I am very particular about who works on my car. So I called my insurance company they said they would assess that damage for a fair estimate. I brought the Manager the estimate. He tells me the estimate is high and he has to check with corporate. I informed him that the estimate was from my insurance adjuster and the damage wasn't something that could just be bonded over and slapped with a coat of touch-up paint. This is my car, I want it done right. Pep Boys didn't agree. I left him with the estimate. He said he'd call me back. I am going to jump ahead and say that at no time in any of this has the manager EVER called me back when he said he would. This shows a serious lack of integrity. I called, and the manager now tells me his guy looked at the photo of the damage and claimed he saw "Glue, and that there may have been prior work." I asked to speak with his "Guy". I offered to present "his Guy" my Insurance company number and anything else he would need to confirm the work history on my ONE OWNER car. I never heard from his "Guy". At this point, I had a death in my family. I didn't have the patience to deal with a bad-faith manager. I have an issue with people who have no integrity. So I had my insurance company pay for the repair and suggested Pep Boys just pay the deductible, and in the interest of "Please just fix it and go away" I also said (taking into consideration the mysteriously convenient out-of-work camera), I'll eat $100.00. Win-Win. Right? Wrong. Pep Boys has a serious lack of integrity. I had to call again, a manager from a different Pep Boys filling in for the day, answered. I tell him the story. He suggested I try switching to a different Pep Boys, (His of course) and that he will have the store manager call me back. No one calls me back. When I spoke with the manager again he said "I was supposed to call you back?" then added "Corporate will have the check in the mail on Friday" Two Fridays, later... Still no check. The manager had told me every week for two months the check was being sent, and no check had been sent. 3 months later: Pep Boys still has not paid for the damage. I just spoke with the regional manager to find out that I was being fed a series of lies. No check was ever sent. They tried to claim the damage was $50.00. The bodywork alone was $ 603.50 without paint matching. No auto bodywork in the world only costs $50.00. (As I said "Bonded with touch-up paint is not acceptable) They have lost my business, and if there is justice... They lost yours. My business alone won't hurt their bottom line, and that's too bad. The real crime is that PepBoys can damage a customer's vehicle and a $55.00 oil change costs $555.00 because I brought it to PepBoys. UPDATE January 5 2024. I will never give PepBoys my business again. A few months ago I had a flat tire and took my car in for a new one. I got a new tire, but upon leaving the shop I realized my tire pressure light was still on. I thought maybe the mechanic forgot to turn it off, or it was some sort of glitch. I got busy and couldn't go back in to have them take a look and turn off the tire pressure light. This past weekend I brought my car in for an oil change (tire pressure light still on) and told them about the light and if they could please turn it off, because it's been on since my last visit. Well, I got a call from PepBoys after leaving my car about how I should replace my front 2 tires, that they're in bad shape. And I went ahead and agreed. I got another call a few minutes later telling me that the reason the tire pressure light was on, is because the TPMS system (I drive a Honda Civic) in my car is missing, and was replaced by a rubber bell stem. The guy said (I believe this is the manager, Kevin) he didn't know why or how that happened, but said he would put the TPMS system free of charge. He figured maaaybe a mechanic of his broke it and didn't tell him, and hid it from him. Well, a few minutes after THAT he called me again to inform me that the TPMS system was missing from another tire, and that in fact it was missing from ALL the tires and replaced with the rubber bell stem. My first thought was, well did someone steal this from my car off the street one day? Is that possible? He said no. In other words, it would need to be done by someone who was working on my car. To give you more back story, I've only taken my car to the Honda dealership in Miami (where I bought the car), a Honda dealership in LA, and to this PepBoys location. And the last time it was handled, was by them. The man I was speaking with said his guys didn't do it, and he didn't see why they would, and therefore he won't cover the cost for one of them, or any of them. And that it's a mystery to him. He told me it would be about $400 for me to have him purchase the parts for my car. I was in SHOCK and very confused. He asked me if I bought the car used, which I replied no. I told him I would not be purchasing the parts. I was furious. Then, I went to go pick up my car... The man pulled up my Car Fax report, which shows, like I said, the only places I've ever taken my car to, and that the last place was PepBoys. I asked him if someone DID in fact remove my TPMS system from my car at another location, or even his location, would that mean the tire pressure light in my car would of had to have been on ever since it was removed? And he said yes. I told him, once again, as I had been telling him many times, that the light has been on ever since the last time I went to this PepBoys location. In the past when it has been on, Honda took care of it, and it never went on again until a few months ago, when like I said, I had a flat tire. And it has been on EVER SINCE I've been to PepBoys. So? What happened? Because as you can see on Car Fax, I haven't taken it anywhere else since then, yet the light is on and the sensors are clearly missing. The man told me he can't do anything about it. Because he has no reason to believe one of his guys would do that. What I do not understand, and what frustrates me, is that I've only been to PepBoys these last few months. And the tire pressure light has been on since THEY last worked on it. So, what does that tell you? Why wouldn't he help me, or at least try to further look into it? He said the guys who helped me last time I was there no longer work there. Which sounds a bit sketchy to me. Needless to say, I think they were trying to take more money from me. And I am furious and refuse to give them my service again. Now I'm left with no sensors, and my tire pressure light remains on ALL THE TIME. I left feeling like no one cared to help me. I brought my car for a routine tire pressure check and fill. I have a tire pressure sensor in my dash so I can see what each tire is individually at. Pep boys somehow found a nail in a tire that had perfectly normal PSI reading. After paying for them to fix my tire, which I had no issue with previously, it became deflated overnight. They left my car in a worse state than what I brought to them. Now I have to buy a new tire after just getting new ones last year and am wondering if that "nail" in my tire even existed, since the problems didn't start until after I visited this location. Horrible way to treat local people. Never again, pep boys. Wish I read the horrible reviews about pep boys before stopping in. Try Mike's Auto Repair down the street or Burbank Tire Shop instead of giving these swindlers your money. read more

I had my Honda Pilot service a few months ago and after taking a closer look at my paperwork I found out they sold me an intake air hose (not original) at a whopping $112.00 dollars which original from the dealer only costs $45!!!. I call them up and specifically ask if they used original parts and the guy that answer gave me a definitive no. DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE! Every time in the past the front desk clerks know exactly what oil I have used in the past. This guy just tried to quote me 102.00 oil change when I never have spent more the 50 dollars.
