Unfortunately the service manager at this location is misleading and has anger management issues. While employed under Mr. Dwayne I was instructed several times to put the wrong oil into certain vehicles, or to laugh at customers with him when they ask a question. I would avoid this location at all costs and take your business somewhere that deserves it. The older service writer Kevin also has severe anger management issues and has been known as a narcissistic person. They don't treat their techs well here and unfortunately it reflects on the company. read more

I purchased two wiper blades in Pep Boys store 0270 in Colorado Springs. I left my receipt behind because in the 50 times I have bought wipers I install them and discard the boxes without issue. I ended up with a wiper that looked like a return and went to the store in Denver to exchange it and ran into an excuse of a human being named assistant manager Travis who treated me poorly and refused to assist. Hubs have been to this place several time. I went here for the first time last weekend, Saturday January 17 2009 with Hubs since we are in the neighborhood. Needed to get several things for "my new baby"....err... though some people think it should be named as "our new baby". If only I can have more time, since we have other appointments that Saturday to browse all the accessories needed for "our new baby". They have many more accessories items as compared to SuperWalmart and SuperTarget, I cant deny that. I SO wish, if they have more variety and the things I want for the accessories for "our new baby". Imagine your worst car supply retail nightmare. Every time you go in there, the cheap-ass wheel covers and silver naked lady decorations are where you used to go for wiper blades. The employees are trained well. No one on the floor could learn to avoid customers on their own without being trained, nor can the perpetually, almost callously indifferent checkout person move any slower. I've been to this place a couple of dozen times, and at no time (unless there was a customer in front of me) did I ever have to wait less than 2 minutes for a cognitively impaired clerk, often after my going over to the "service" side to ask if there even *was* a clerk. News flash - your periodic corporate mandated product rearrangement isn't going to make me buy a neon lighting system for underneath middle-aged Honda. Nice try. I get my car back at 4pm after paying over $150 (my car takes 8 5 quarts of synthetic so this is pretty standard). I drive 3 miles and the front base of my car drops to the cement and begins scraping the ground on the highway. First, when they changed out our seasonal tires they gave us back someone else's broken one. Fortunately our all weathers were still new so we only had to buy one. I took my tuck here because I was hearing a noise coming from my rear end. I have car shield it's insurance company that deals with automotive repairs. so long story short, the mechanic Kyle lie to me telling me that a technician came out and denied my claim. I called my insurance company and they're telling me that they want them to send them more information and that a technician wasn't even sent out to look at the car. And they're telling me that my insurance company denied the claim when they didn't and they're telling me they want to charge me $4067 for a ring and pinion and an axle for the truck all I did was get the runaround and then they kept insisting that CarShield is a pain to deal with and that most Pep Boys don't work with them anymore so I told them to give me back my truck and I'll take it somewhere else that's willing to work with my insurance company and that's exactly what I did so I will never recommend anybody to the shop they had my truck for a week and I never got any answers. Just kept getting the runaround and kept getting lie to!!! The Mechanics are unprofessional and the mechanic literally told me that no one service the differential when I literally watched the guy do it three weeks ago I have receipts and everything to prove it!! They were really busy today (Sunday) but still got me in to get a nail out of my tire and patched it up. $12 total which I appreciate, but they never took the time to explain what they found and what type of repair they did until I had to come back in looking for the cap to my tire air valve. I just want to let people know that despite having some issues with two different stores and the employees there, I contacted the district manager, Rick. He was very apologetic and professional with what happened with me. He apologized profusely to me. He also is refunding me my entire amount paid to fix my air-conditioning in my vehicle. I greatly appreciate the fact that he owned up to the mistakes of his employees and tried to make it right for me as a first time customer. And let me just add that my air-conditioning in my car is working. Rick did tell me if there was a problem and it stopped working, do not hesitate to call him. Horrible, lying business. I had an oil change here. They supposedly did their fantastic "free" inspection. To which my vehicle passed everything with flying colors!! Too bad all of my fluids are low, my brakes are grinding and my tires are bald and one needs air. I was actually very interested and somewhat relying on this report to see what maintenance needed to be done to my car. I asked specifically if they refilled my fluids. They replied (to my face). Yes we checked them all but we can only fill up the wiper fluid. So I clarified and asked if they filled up my wiper fluid. I asked if they actually performed the inspection and I was quite surprised I didn't need anything done or even an air filter. I called the manager the next day. His reply to all of this was I can come in again, for another 1.5 hours again - apparently that's how long an oil change takes. I find this extremely pathetic, since I am able to do one in about 15-20 minutes. They put the oil change sticker on my windshield, with the wrong mileage and a check mark next to oil filter and rotate tires. Which I have no clue what that means. These things should have been done now. What a pathetic business. Go anywhere else. read more

Upon arrival, I was shocked to find it was no longer a Regular Pep Boys. No products or aftermarket parts in lobby, no service desk, and no employees in sight. Looks like Hertz/ Lyft took over the store. "Only doing tires and oil changes now", a customer said. A revalation I was not ready for; however since I only needed a oil change and a courtesy check that was ok. I was perplexed at the snail's pace the employees moved at, as I watched them work. Obviously, the pay scale has dropped, pride in service vanished and incentive to work quickly had faded. Sad. I was underwhelmed at the type of service, speed of service, and customer service attitude of employees. They did not even check the air pressure in all 4 tires. This is not the old Pep Boys. Went in for a simple alignment and they tried to charge me 2800 for some issues with my suspension before they could even align it, told them no and took it to my mechanic and he fixed the issue for 500. I have to be honest I'm very upset with my experience. I brought my car by on Sunday because my AC is out in summer. They never called me Sunday to pick up my vehicle. I came by on Monday during my lunch break - they never looked at my AC and gave me an oil change instead. I spoke with the manager to have my AC checked and they weren't going to check it for another week. I was able to get them to see me Thursday instead bc their technician is busy. But that is an unacceptable resolution. I should not be delayed any further bc of your error. They should've fixed the issue today and figured out how to make it happen. I'm so disappointed by this. I understand if you have a busy day- but when you screw up - you make it happen. Vs putting on me to just deal with it. Horrible customer service. No effort was made to check or fix my AC. And they want to charge me for another inspection. I'm so upset by this. Update - I came in Thursday as the manager told me to - and the entire staff said they did not know why he scheduled this as they cannot help me until Saturday. Coming to this Pep Boys used to actually be a fairly enjoyable experience. This morning as I walk up to the store is a sign on the door that says 20,000 more items... The part I came in for today I have to replace fairly often and I knew exactly where it was located in the old store set up. After erroneously being directed to numerous locations around the store I was told simply, 'we must not have it'. Don't know if this is an improvement, but I can say with certainty, it just made an O'Reilly shopper out of me. Additionally the customer service lady that assisted me - gave off a vibe that I was disturbing her from what looked like playing on her cell phone. So to this young lady I extend a most humble and sincere apology, it was my impression that being on payroll meant you're here to help clients but I will modify my expectation and adjust accordingly. Forgot to add this on my original post but I came here with tires I bought private party to have them mounted. The assistant shop manager told me that while mounting the tires one of the TPMS sensors had broke. I know this is very common and he assured me they replaced it. Unfortunately I could not return Same day because I picked it up at the end of the day and they had already closed. The next day I drove my vehicle to the dealership where they confirmed the TPMS sensor had not been replaced as promised. I don't think that's a good method of building customer relations. ok so I had two tire bolt or stem sheer off with the lug nuts on the same wheel. I got quoted $100 bucks by Midas and $200 from the dealer. Pepboys charges $50 per bolt, but since it was on the same wheel the labor cost was less because they didn't have to do it to two different tires. So they only charged me $5 extra dollars for the 2nd bolt. I don't understand why the labor cost would double at Midas and from the dealer. Pep Boys thanks for making sense and not just following what the computer says. I went in and asked about the quote and then scheduled online since it was busy at the desk. When I went in to take the car in I was able to check it in, but I also dropped it off since I didn't need the car for the day. Took them about 3 hours to complete the job, which seemed long, but I wasn't sitting there waiting so I'm assuming they just pushed mine to lower priority which I expected since I left it there. Shady does not begin to describe the level of service I received here. The biggest problem: they performed roughly $750+ of UNAPPROVED repairs to the AC in my vehicle. I approved $450 worth of repairs ($218 in parts, $232 in labor). They had the audacity to actually call ME (the customer) a liar! Many issues, poor communication, no follow through on two complaints to the "corporate" department I filed with the Area Director. Specifically - Rick Molaskey (Area Director), Travis (Assistant Store Manager), Ted Smith (Store Manager). First - I did an online scheduling for the FREE AC CHECK (it is a scam). I scheduled my appointment for Thursday, June 13th at 6PM. I was not so pleasantly greeted by the shady character Travis (Assistant Store Manager). I went through my SELF ENTERED NOTES for my vehicle, which is where all the problems started. Travis, instead of doing his job, briefly ran through the note. Travis not ONCE mentioned what the "FREE AC CHECK" entailed, had he had read my note, he would have recommended the AC EVAL SERVICE (extra charge, might I add) which actually diagnosed the cause of the AC problem. I mentioned to him, multiple times over, that I NEEDED to fix the AC in my vehicle that was blowing hot air. In the same conversation, I told Travis that if it was under $100 for any of the repairs he has my authorization to perform them. Anything OVER $100 would require my express authorization. I explained to Travis that my vehicle would be left with Pep Boys for 4 days and that I was picking it up on Monday, June 17th (four whole days to complete an AC Check). No voicemails, missed calls from Travis or any member of the Pep Boys team. I expect things are going well - AC should be running cold on picking the vehicle up? WRONG. I asked Travis if the AC problem was fixed - YES was the response. He said they even put "freon" in it and everything was A - OK. 1st Problem - THE OIL CHANGE STICKER FROM MY PREVIOUS OIL CHANGE FROM JIFFY LUBE WAS STILL ON THE WINDOW! 2nd Problem- 15 minutes later - AC was blowing as hot as the summer day. Frustrated - I called Travis to ask him to explain to me what they had actually done. I know enough to know freon does not leak out in 15 minutes. Now this is where the REAL problem started. Travis, realizing they had done ZERO with my car (who knows still if I got an oil change or not) for FOUR DAYS, promptly said he would speak with the Store Manager (Ted) to see when they could get me in to do ANOTHER AC EVAL, at an additional cost to me. Excuse me? Travis scheduled me for 8 AM on Tue, June 18th. What is the problem with that? Upon my arrival - no Travis. I meet another friendlier gentlemen, who explains there is ONE AC technician on staff (Aaron B.) who is completely BOOKED for the day. WHAT? TRAVIS LIED RIGHT TO MY FACE? NO APPOINTMENT WAS EVER CREATED? The shop tech does what he can and says Aaron will be able to do an AC EVAL later on my car that afternoon, but not really much else. Flash forward to roughly about 2 PM ish, I get a call from Travis (might I add, in the 5 days prior, this was actually the first call I EVER received from him or any Pep Boys staff). Travis explained they needed to order two parts (inflow valve for AC and outflow pipe for AC) - it would cost about $450. I approved and say I'd like to be notified immediately if this solution does not work and if additional parts needed to be ordered. Again, why is this something a customer should dictate as a process, might I add? Travis called me again to say those parts did not work, and if I wanted to pick my vehicle up I could, as his Tech (Aaron B.) was now gone for the day. I told him I'd be by around 6 PM ish to discuss further repairs and also get some belongings from my car. I arrive at the shop - quite empty. No AARON B (AC Tech). Travis explains the first two parts I approved did not work and that it might be the AC compressor. I told him VERY IMPLICITLY AND DIRECTLY TO CALL ME IN THE MORNING SINCE HE DID NOT HAVE A PRICE QUOTE READY FOR THE COMPRESSOR. I had a witness with me (my girlfriend) who was present for this very conversation in the Pep Boys garage/work area where my vehicle was still sitting 5 days later and no AC fixed. I told Travis in the same conversation that I needed to approve any further repairs or costs associated since I was already $450 into the repair, which he agreed to do. I also told him that I would not need the car for another two days and could pick it up on Friday, June 21st (this would be exactly 8 days since I dropped my car off the FIRST time at that particular shop location). Wednesday - June 19th - No/Zero call from Travis. Thursday - June 20th - No/Zero call from Travis Friday, June 21st - I arrive back in town, head directly to Pep Boys. Sure ENOUGH, no sign of Travis, but I do meet with Ted (shop mgr.) Ted has been informed of the issues with my vehicle. Take your car anywhere else!!! I had a scheduled oil change at 1 pm. My oil change was not finished until nearly 3 pm. I took a look today to look for the cause of why I might be getting such poor gas mileage after my oil change, and behold, the top of my air filter compartment was unhinged and banging around, and the inlet hose to the air filter compartment was off! Essentially, my air filter was just sitting there doing nothing! At the end of my service the technician told me "you should clean your air filter". Took my car in for breaks and struts and then went out of town for a period of time. I heard noises for quite some time, but had put less than 1K miles on the car since the repair. I took the car in for a check-up, and even though 90 days had since past they made the repairs, they fixed the problem free of charge. It turns out the strut and mount were bad. Took WAY TOO LONG to change tires and perform a balance. Seriously. Bottom Line: Would go back to Big O Tires or look for service elsewhere. Man I was feeling bitter last night; that's why you write these things the next day though. Every year I get my summer and winter tires changed out and I usually get that work done at Big O Tires. Unfortunately Big O Tires has less than flexible hours of business (closing at 6pm doesn't help most of the people who work 9-5). I called up Pep Boys and asked how much they charge for winter tire removal. They quoted me $80. That's *double* the price at Big O Tires. I told them that if they price matched I'd drive there right then so I could get this semi-annual headache out of the way. One of their service reps AJ told me that if I brought in the price on paper I was good to go. I had a signed business card from the Big O Tires with the work and cost on it. I show up and AJ tells me that he needs a work estimate in order to price match. Dude, it's a tire swap. It's a commodity service, hence why I felt comfortable going over to your shop. After explaining this to him and with a little more headache he agrees to honor his word. I actually have to leave and bring my car in the following day. I ask AJ if this is OK. He says it's fine since he'll be there all day. I show up the next day and of course AJ isn't there. Brandon however, is up front and I explain to him why I'm there and what I need. He's agreeable and seems eager to help. I ask him how long swapping tires would take them. He says an hour. I'm not sure how tire removal and balancing takes them an hour, since it's typically a 30 min deal. Whatever. It ends up taking them an hour and a half; making me further late for another engagement. Great. As much as I wanted to like them, they failed pretty miserably. read more

For quick, no-hassle service, this is a decent place to get a lube. I've only been here once, but I was in and out in about 30 minutes. Price is decent, with a standard oil change being $19.99 AFTER the $10 mail-in rebate, however, if you look online, they have additional coupons and I was able to get a tire rotation included for FREE. My other test-- I just had a tune-up and other work done on my car 3 months ago, so I expected to NOT be confronted with any "necessary" additional work needed, and pleasantly, not a peep about a dirty filter or a worn-out belt. I hope that honesty keeps up. Not the best, most professional service available, and the mail-in rebate can be annoying, but overall a good experience. read more

I don't put a lot of miles on my car -- maybe 2,000 to 3,000 per year. But I've been pretty conscientious about getting the oil changed every five or six months. I used PEP Boys at Alameda & Broadway since moving to the 'hood, and found the staff there to be friendly and helpful. But it appears there's been major turnover in the past six-to-eight months, and my most recent experience was a nightmare. I was totally ignored for the first ten minutes although there were plenty of folks there who could have greeted me and told me "someone will be with you in a minute." When I was finally waited on, it was by someone "new" who seemed totally disinterested in finding out what I needed (an oil change). After being told it would take an hour to get the job done, I turned over my keys and scooted over to ACE Hardware and K-Mart for a little bit of shopping therapy. I returned for my car almost two hours later, and it still wasn't done. After waiting at the counter for another ten minutes, I finally got someone to tell me it would be another fifteen minutes before my car was ready. AN HOUR LATER I had my car. NO explanations, no apologies, no acknowledgement of how this might have impacted my day. I don't know what's happened there - how a once reliable business could have gone so far downhill in such a short time. I might have been willing to give it another try, however a neighbor says they experienced similar problems within the past couple weeks. So I'm - totally - over PEP Boys, and will now be taking my car to Astro Automotive for regularly scheduled maintenance. read more

I've used this location about a handful of times for my vehicle and every time it's been a headache... The last time I needed brakes done, I locked in an appointment because they said they had them in stock, but when I show up on the day of, they no longer had them and I was told that I still had to wait for the parts to be delivered, so I offered to get the brakes from THEIR local distributor and they agreed. When I got back from picking up the parts, they tried to charge me MORE for "bringing my own parts." Same rep/cashier BTW. On top of the price haggling, I had to wait an extra 2.5 hours because I wasn't there when they called me because I was out getting said parts they claimed to have in stock but did not. Today I had an appointment for brakes (why didn't I learn my lesson the last time you ask? Location convenience and pricing) that I made last week and was given a quote for parts, labor and rotors in person by the heavier set older gentleman with some grey in his hair, a difficult time breathing and who was wearing a black shirt and appeared to be management, but after calling today to confirm the appointment and that said brakes were in stock, I was told that was the incorrect price and a final price wasn't settled because the rotors were no longer included in the price quote. I agreed to come in for the appointment anyway by the end of the call, even though a final price wasn't discussed. I called back one more time to get a solid price without rotors, but another rep answered the phone and had the previous rep/manager that I spoke with next to him (I could hear him in the background). After asking about the price again and holding for a couple minutes, the rest of the story story goes as follows: "We can't give you an estimate because we have to take a look at it first," manager mumbles in the background, "actually we can't take you today because we have computer problems, we are going to have to reschedule you for another time." I said no thank you and to have a great day. This is less than a half hour before my appointment, mind you. All that computer trouble within a matter of seconds of me calling? Why wasn't I called initially to say that they couldn't take my appointment because they had computer problems? Because they were annoyed with me for checking up again, so they were spiteful. You can still do service and take payments without your POS system. All of that can be settled by the manager when the computer is working again. I'm a manager in retail BTW, so I know. I get that a customer who calls multiple times for the same issue can be annoying, but when you're not consistent with customer service, pricing and reliability, forgive me for checking in multiple times to see if it's worth leaving my home in the middle of a global pandemic to be a patron at a business that is still poor in customer service, pricing and reliability. Don't let the remodeling of this location and possible new management fool you, they still don't have their crap together. Being spiteful during a global pandemic where most businesses are taking a hit is probably not the greatest business strategy. I strongly recommend new management, customer service training and better computers. read more

I came here w/ a car issue because I could hop the light rail to work & the hours were amenable to my somewhat long work schedule, but next time i'll definitely go to my neighborhood shop. They were all kinds of suggestive selling/upselling, didnt disclose all the charges up front even though i really pressed to make sure they were telling me ALL the charges, and then the problem they supposedly fixed came back a couple months later anyway. It was exactly the experience I always expect and dread when I need to get something fixed on my car. I was told to expect to wait 1 hour for a standard oil change & tire rotation. Two and a half hours later, I was still waiting, and no one had come to check in with me about the status of my vehicle. After 3 hours, I finally got my truck back. However, I could see no basic evidence that the oil change had been performed. For instance, there was no new sticker in the corner of my windshield noting the mileage at the time of service. My electronic dashboard also reflected that my oil still had 30% life, which is what it read prior to going into PepBoys. These little details were missing, which to me is a sign of poor service for something so routine. I will not be returning to this PepBoys location. I still wish I could get those 3 hours back. read more

I needed to get some work done on my windows, and as with any power window feature, it was a guaranteed costly repair no matter where I went. I generally go to Pep Boys because they are quick and in the neighborhood. So after having made an appointment, I took my car in where they finished one side and said they'd have to order the part for the passenger side, but it would be in over the weekend. Well, that comes and goes, but no call back. I called back several times in the following weeks, and play some phone tag. Hmph. Well, try, try again . . . finally was called back -- my part was in, hooray! Not so much. They set an appointment and everything was fine except the part didn't fit. No one's fault, just needed to be a dealer part which they were unable to obtain. However, the manager was extremely gracious and refunded all of my money, including what I spent to have the original work done, so I ended up with at least one working window for free! Can't complain about that. Have to only give four stars due to the weeks of waiting but I realize sometimes parts can take a while to come in. Otherwise I thought it was really generous of them to refund the total for the work done. Sure, you win some, you lose some with big auto repair chains, but in my experiences the people who work at this location have always been helpful and accommodating. read more

DONT go here for service! We ordered tires and had an appointment. It took them 5 hours to get around to our vehicle, and only after they took the old tires off did they check to see if they had the new tires in... they did not. I waited 5 hours for them to tell me that they don't have our tires and to give me back the vehicle the exact way I brought it in. Huge waste of time. Poorly run store. read more

I found Nate to be knowledgeable and efficient when I went in today to buy new all weather tires. He gave me a price that was $200 less, for Goodyear Assurance All Season tires, than what I was offered at a comparable tire chain. I had him on the phone the whole time with my father who owns an auto repair shop in another state and is not easily impressed. Looks like other people have had a tough time but my experience here was good. read more
