I have been coming to this Pep Boys for two years now -- and have never had a bad experience (except for a few long waits). The staff is very friendly, and the services have always been on-time for me. My car always comes here for oil changes, and my old road trip van was saved by these fellas after a tire exploded and snapped a brake line last year. Currently, my hatchback is in the garage getting brakes inspected and tires rotated. The new lounge is a huge upgrade for this location. Plenty of comfy seating, a desk area with plugs, free wi-fi, and complimentary Keurig machine. (Bonus points for the water bottle refill station!) read more

I had an oil change in late May 2019 and recently had to take it in to another mechanic because my oil lamp light kept flashing. I was not due for another oil change for about 1,200 miles so I was confused about why this light was flashing. The other mechanic discovered that there were only 2 liters of oil in my Jeep when in fact jeeps require 5 liters of oil. Not only did I waste my time and money taking it in to another mechanic, but I had to stop working because the light came on so I lost income as well. Additionally, this could have cause incredible damage to my engine. I do not understand how a simple oil change could go so wrong, I also paid full price for a incomplete job. I will never support another Pep Boys again. I also never write reviews but this mistake on their part caused a domino effect of issues that I had to deal with. read more

The commercial sales department here is great. I work for a shop not far from this place and we use them all the time. They are quick with the delivery and willing to go further to get us what we need than any other part supplier we use. I highly recommend you add this crew at Pep Boys to your parts source call list. If you used them before, but were disappointed, try them again. The department is run so much better now than in years past. It would be nice if they carried some better brake parts. A good selection of Akebono would be ideal. read more

Buyer beware!!!! My husband took his car here because he needed his brakes flushed. He was told that they do a free brake inspection so he figured why not? He was told that he needed new brake pads and routers. Totaling $750. Obviously these guys weren't aware at the time that my husband is a car dealer and buys and sells cars from the auctions for a living. We took the car to our normal mechanic at that point who told us that the brake pads still had a ton of life yet and hadn't even touched the routers. Thank goodness my husband was in town, because had I been told I needed new brakes and routers while he was away I would have been out $750. Take your car somewhere else, unless you like paying for unnecessary parts and services. read more

I don't recall ever being told by a tire shop that I didn't need to rotate my tires, despite it being on the work order. I went for an oil change, and asked them to rotate the tires while they were working on it. I got the truck back and immediately knew they did not do the tire rotation. When I brought it to their attention, they had to go talk with the tech, and came back and said it wasn't necessary. These tires have 15,000 miles on them in the same location on the truck, and, besides, it's my damn truck and I asked them to do it. Instead, I got a lecture on tread depth and tire inflation (from a guy who didn't bother looking up the recommended PSI of the tires before telling me where they should be), and more assurances that they didn't need to be rotated. It makes me wonder if they changed the oil at all. I won't be back. *EDIT* - after filing out this review, I got a call from a manager in the service department. He was apologetic, and agreed that the experience I had was not up to their standards. He reviewed the notes from my service, and agreed that the tech had skipped steps in the safety check and was out of line. He refunded me the cost of my oil change, and so I think he did about all he could to remedy the situation considering I would not allow them to touch my truck again. read more

Worst experience I've ever had with any company. My wife dropped her car off to have an O2 sensor replaced (which I already knew, I have my own ODB scanner). While scanning the code, they also noticed one of her belts was cracking. The grand total for these two small items? $1000.00!!! As if I can't go on their OWN DAMN WEBSITE TO SEE THAT THE PARTS COST $60 for the sensor and $20 for the belt? That is some crazy labor charges you got there PepBoys, very competitive! But it doesn't end there. Immediately after I call them to complain, all of the sudden they can knock $200.00 off the price, magic! Couldn't possibly be that they thought they could rip-off my wife because she's a woman or anything..... I tell them not to proceed with any repairs, my local mechanic can do the same job for $300. Wife goes in to pickup the car, and before she can have the key back, they make her pay $100 for "diagnostic fees"?!? This is practically criminal, especially considering at absolutely no point in this process was this fee disclosed. All they did was open the hood and plug in an ODB scanner, they should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Make sure to check for your wheel lock key when leaving after getting new tires. I unfortunately got a flat a week after getting new tires with no key for my wheel locks to put a spare on. Pep boys worker told me, that is a personal problem, and there was no way it was their fault it's missing. Terrible customer service read more

Had an accident, the staff picked up after hours and towed after hours on a Sunday no less. They worked on my car and had it ready within 2 days. I mean replaced the radiator, fuel pump and cleaned out some other system. Phi ( sorry for the spelling) was amazing, calm and really took time to explain the work and find more affordable solutions. There was also another man, I think his name was Steve I have since stopped going to the shop on 6th and Kalamath and now my sister and I both use this specific Pep Boy location. read more

brought my car in to get a set of new tires, a 1985 corvette. the techs began to strip the lugs, lug key, and lug locks on my car. left with 3 tires done and one less lugnut. paid for them to scratch the rims and ruin the lugs. read more

Worst customer service ever. Everything that you hope not to encounter with a mechanic. I visited first for a loud squeaking noise coming from the front left wheel area. I was told that I needed to replace my brakes. 2 months later, I had to return as the original problem persisted and was told I would have to replace my shock as well as my tires. On top of all that, my brakes would have to be replaced again, because as the master mechanic explained, I ride my brakes when I drive. This was clearly a case of faulty workmanship on top of an inability to troubleshoot the root problem and repair it. In order to challenge this position, I had to make a complaint with the corporate customer service department. That was a terrible experience as well. Bottom line- be prepared to be taken for a ride on the expense train as the mechanics create problems that your vehicle does not have while assuming that you will not understand and pay for whatever they tell you is needed. read more

I called at 8am this morning to see if they would be able to work me in for an oil change and tire rotation, which was overdue. Tom, who answered the phone was great and thought they would be able to fit me in around noon. I dropped my car off at 8:15 after checking it in with Faith. I let them know I had to pick up my kids from school so would need my car back by 2:30. My car was done and ready for pickup by 11:30. Super fast without an appt, they fixed my tire that had a nail in it for half price and had great communication.. which is why I always take my car to Pep boys. Now to get it detailed! read more

I found my car battery was dead after being out of town for awhile. The guy from AAA said my factory installed battery was probably on it's last legs and suggested I get a new battery. That's how I found myself at Pep Boys. The service was quick and the price was reasonable. The guy that helped me out was nice but he definitely seemed like he was just going through the motions, getting through another day. Running a marathon, a work shift, a nights sleep- Theses are all things that should take 5 hours-an oil change (with an appointment!) should not be one of them. If I was a better planner I would have never gone here because of the reviews, but before a road trip for Thanksgiving it was the only place I could get an appointment for an oil change. WARNING appointments mean nothing here. I showed up at my scheduled time. Asked how long it would take. "An hour and some change" I was told (apparently some change means 4 hours in Pep Boys speak). 1.25 hours later. "It will be at least another 1- 1.5 hours." Another 2 hours later- Pep Boys "We are going to have to break your oil cap to change the oil and that will be $50." Us-"You break it, you buy it." Pep Boys "Never-mind we got it." A total of 5 hours later my car was done. Get this- they forgot to fill the window washer fluid and check the tires (which we asked them to do). So I ran out of fluid and had to fill my tires on my trip. Poor customer service, bad work-do not go here!!!!! read more

Customer service is nothing to them. I asked about a problem on their end (apparently the only person who can do an oil change didn't come to work today) and asked why they hadn't called me (I scheduled the oil change online) to let me know in advance. They're response was, "well you're 25 minutes late we assumed you weren't coming." So if I'd been there earlier They would've had the guy show up? Not possible. Disappointed and won't go back. They'd sold me probably 10k of work/materials over the last ten years and talked to me like a jerk and mocked me as I walked out. I can find a new place for service. read more

Came here to get an oil change but left with a new axle as well... Thank God mechanics find all of the problems we've never even heard of. Anyway, TJ and Patrick were the two guys that helped me out. Their customer service was great! Patrick let me use multiple coupons which brought my total down by $70ish. Only compliant was that the wait was about 1.5 hours longer than expected. Went in and told them about the error message on my dashboard. The guy behind the counter walked out with me to take a look and said it was a burnt out tail light. Went inside and he looked up the part and went and got it then went back outside with me to show me exactly how to install it. He gave some helpful tips on how to best take out the entire casing without breaking anything. Super Service. 5 Stars if he would have actually installed the bulb but they probably do not want to do that for liability reasons. This will now be my go to for quick automotive questions and parts. read more

Aaron fixed the leaky radiator on the Jeep in no time flat! We called the night before, they were able to accept the Jeep at 7:30 the next morning. He called around lunch, explained the problems & possible fixes/ costs. He recommended a best course of action which we took. It was ready for pick up before school was out that same day. Great service, great price & fast! Will return to get the cruise control fixed next. read more

Honestly terrible customer service, maybe the worst i have ever experienced. I would avoid at all costs

I ordered four new tires. They said the would call me when it was done. Five hours later I show back up and they say they are just getting to it now. I was standing outside when the mechanic pulled it out of the garage, around the corner and into a parking space. As he rounded the corner, he jumped the curb and nearly hit a pylon. The van is rattling as they drive. They had filled the tires to half the correct pressure and not tightened the lug nuts. The rattling was my wheel-base clanging again the wheel cover. I took it back to the garage and a different tech filled the tires and tightens the lug nuts. By that time one lug nut had already fallen off and was lost to the universe. Then about a week later I took it on the highway and the whole vehicle started shaking. In the process of changing my tires they had completely thrown off the alignment. Worst possible experience on all levels. I thought about returning it and asking them to fix the alignment, but I fear they would give it back to the same technician, who would exact some additional damage out of spite. read more

It's no wonder this place has only 2 stars. I was told to come pick up my car without even asking because the parts had to be ordered and Silver Rock was paying for the repairs. After calling an Uber to get there I was told by Travis that the repairs that haven't been done had to be paid in full before I could pick it up. He was the rudest person I have ever dealt with and recommend if you do go in that you don't deal with him at all. The rest of the staff was great and I had no problem with them. Terrible experience. I had an appointment and dropped off my car early on a Thursday. I called later that night to get an update. I was told that they started working on the car but wouldn't be done until Friday. They had to order one of the parts but assured me it would be done Friday. I called back late Friday afternoon for an update. I was then told they hadn't even started working on it yet and it wouldn't be done until Saturday at the earliest. The man I spoke with the day before told me they were already working on the car. I brought the car to this location because it's listed as an in- network shop for the company that does the warranty on my car. I'm spending over $1500 at this shop. You'd think they'd at least treat you better and give you accurate and honest information. This will be the last time I use this shop and will be having a talk with the warranty company about the terrible service this shop provides. read more

PEP Boys at 487 S Broadway the WORST. Had 1pm oil change appt. Waited until 2pm to ask for keys back as no one had touched my car yet. They couldn't find them anywhere! I finally walked over to another desk where I found my keys unattended and not attached to any work order. So basically I was waiting for nothing as the work order & keys never made it to the back. They didn't seem to care that this happened. read more

My wife's battery died in the light rail parking lot. She went in so they could check it out and they told her she needed a new battery because her battery was fried... They tried selling my wife a new battery but she called me before doing the transaction so I called our dealership and had the car taken to VW Dealer but they just charged the battery and said the battery was still in good conditions! Employees shouldn't take advantage of girls or anyone like this! Horrible Service! Bad business! read more

This was Beyond bad! I was told that it would take a couple of hours to change my tires. So I went across the street and had something to eat just killing time I called about 4 hours later after not hearing anything about my car, to then be told it wouldn't be ready till tomorrow because they didn't have the correct tires. This is after asking and telling them that I would buy the tires that they had in stock instead of ordering he ones I really wanted. So I waited till the next day, 3:30 comes around 24 hours later still haven't even started on my car. This is the biggest lack of communication I've ever seen it's mind boggling. Do not ever use pep boys I'll save you the Frustration, they have no respect for others time. This ended up costing me hundreds of dollars at work because I had to reschedule and go somewhere else. read more

My service advisor, Travis, provided excellent customer service and was very personable. Really appreciate the one on one service. I'll definitely be back for any auto needs in the future. read more

The counter staff didn't know what a check engine light was. The wait for help was 30 min, at which time I gave up. The employees were literally doing the Nazi salute in plain site, multiple times. The manager was clearly displeased with his job. Never, ever go here. read more

This place sucks. Took my beloved oldsmobile Aurora in for a simple alignment. Well they did that. unfortunately it was all wrong so a new set of tires that I had them install were ruined. And I couldn't even get a deal on another set even though they acknowledged that they were at fault. OK so brought my car back for round 2 and it was even worse. I waited for my car for 5 hours just to be told they had to order a part, so they sent me home on the bus. They had my car for two days and it was a rig job not a factory replacement part. My car was not the same since. You just don't rig someone's car up to were no one else even knows what's going on. Just cause you lack the knowledge to fix it right. So two day's 2 new tires and on top of that they left my exhaust hanging, and my car doesn't drive the same. read more

It's too bad they have terrible customer service. I live across the street and I would definitely been a return customer and always recommended any shop I go to. I called and requested an appt for an oil change and was told I don't need one and that I could just come in. I then dropped my car off and they asked if I could leave it. I told them I would need to pick it up at 2pm. That gave them 5 hours to complete an oil change. I returned at 2:15 and my car hadn't been touched. The guy at the front desk was swamped and apologized for being so busy. I understand busy, but when my car has sat for 5 hours it doesn't help! I requested to speak with the service manager seeking a resolution. Maybe a coupon? Maybe he would recommend another visit with a confirmed appt? He could at least apologize for the inconvenience. He wouldn't come out and speak to me, the poor service desk guy was placed in an awkward position of relaying this information. A technician also came out to "supervise" like I was hostile or something. This is far from my behavior. I kept telling him it's not his fault and I see that he's busy. Bottom line. I will now drive 10 miles out of my way and pay twice as much for a simple oil change. read more

I have been here two times in a week. The first experience was fine but I saw a girl sit in there for 2 hours for an oil change. They didn't make her pay for it which was nice but definitely annoying. This week, I called on Wednesday to get my rear brakes replaced and rotors resurfaced after their advice from the brake inspection last week. I get in there and first, they don't have the brakes I want (the ones they quoted me last week and the ones I confirmed Wednesday). Second, their resurfacer broke yesterday (a phone call would have been nice to save me the time) so they tried to sell me new rotors even though last week they said we could probably resurface them and when I was getting my vehicle serviced at Nissan this week they also told me they only needed to be resurfaced. Last and final complaint is that if they quote you a time, add at least an hour to that. I sat there for 40 minutes today and my car was still sitting in the parking lot. I feel bad because in both my experiences there, they've had to offer discounts to people to make up for their overbooking and non-working machines. Save your money and go somewhere where you'll be taken care of and not taken advantage of. read more

Went in to get my break system flushed and tires rotated. During this process the associate who helped me was very nice and pointed out that I could save $ if I called Big O Tires and got their cost for the same service. And it did! Saved me about $25. That is the only reason it gets any stars. Following the service ALL my break / traction lights were on. I figured it would turn off over time, but it didn't. I disconnected the battery and reconnected to reset without luck. I took it back and that same very helpful guy told me there is nothing they could do and I needed to take it to my dealership. He offered nothing to make me feel like he even cared that I now have to spend a lot more $$ by going to the dealer. I will never go back to Pep Boys for services again because of this. read more

This was my 2nd visit to this location. First time was for a flat tire, with that experience being just OK as the customer service wasn't great at all. This time was for an oil change. As they are so close to my work, and took over the Just Brakes location I used to get my oil changes at, I reluctantly took my car here to give them another chance. The biggest gripe I have is that I asked them not once, not twice, BUT THREE times if they'd top off my windshield wiper fluid which I was assured they "would"...then was reassured when I picked up my car that they "did" do. Welp guess what, they didn't! Makes me wonder if they even changed my oil, which I'll be double checking today just for piece of mind. At this point I will not be returning because to me if you can't get the little things right how are you going to handle the bigger stuff correctly?!?! read more

They are unprofessional, inept, unorganized, immature and unfriendly. They tampered with my vehicle, denied it and did not give any documents to prove what they did. Replaced a major part of my engine and then said it had a leakage and wanted me to re pay for repair instead of it being covered as it should have been under warranty. They lie and I would not recommend them to do any work on your vehicle. read more

I set up an appointment for 11am and when I get there they say o.k. we will get you in. I wait for an hour and they have not touched my car. I ask the serviceman about it and he said it may be another hour or better before they get to my car. I ask him why have an appointment? He tells me that will get me seen before a walk-in. NO SHIT!
