Having relocated here from where Pep Boys has a huge presence, I made a point to continue using Pep Boys in Georgia. I know they are not as well known in Georgia as other parts of the Country, but I have purchased sets of 4 tires, lifetime wheel alignments, oil changes, etc. for my cars from them over the years and they always seemed competent . . . that is until 10965 Jones Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022. This particular store is horrible. Sloppy, dirty and disorganized staff. That photo they posted here on this site must be a stock photo from Corporate or one dropped in here from another store. I have been to this store several times, but this is / was my last time. First of all, I never really paid much attention to it, but the personnel is never the same on each appointment. I average 2 appointments per year for each of our vehicles and that's for all the usual stuff like oil changes, wheel alignments, tire rotations, etc. However, I just realized the employees turnover at least every 6 months. That should tell you a lot and it should have been something I paid attention to sooner. Plus, the employees never seem to smile. They are not friendly, do not make eye contact and they do not thank you for your business. Combine that with the overall changes: 1) Rewards program is terrible as your points expire in a few months rendering them useless. 2) Costs have all increased. I use full synthetic oil so their price is $110.00 for an oil change, whereas I can go to the manufacturer's authorized dealership where my cost is only $99.00 for the same. These are standard (not sale) prices at both. 3) Most people do not go to the dealer due to cost. But now with Pep Boys, you go to the dealer to save money over Pep Boys. Plus Pep Boys uses aftermarket supplies and parts whereas you will get OEM supplies and parts at the dealership . . . and for less money! 4) Combined with complimentary coffee, sodas, snacks, entertainment (television and wifi), shuttle service to work / home and back, etc. none of which this Pep Boys offers . . . . . . so if customer service is lower and prices are higher, why go to Pep Boys? read more

I dropped off my car on Friday, but it wasn't checked until Saturday evening. After getting a repair, my car was worse off than it was before. Despite being fixed, the car was subject to shaking and making a loud, whirring noise when being driven -- it seems like the car wasn't fixed at all. I made an appointment through their website and the day of my appointment went in and the guy at the desk said sorry we're booked the entire day. I told him I had made an appointment and he said "oh you made the appointment online it doesn't work through there you have to call to make the appointment." So I'm thinking to myself then why do they have it available to book appointments through their website if it doesn't even work and why don't they let you know on their website? I drive a car that requires synthetic oil which is not very cheap when it comes to an oil change. Pep boys was running a special on synthetic so I decided to call and inquire. Connor was very polite, answered all of my questions and was helpful. I made an appointment and went in for an oil change. The shop itself could use a cleaning obviously, but it is a mechanic shop so it's as expected. There's also a tv in the waiting area which is always nice when waiting. Staff seemed a little short when I visited, service was a little on the slow side maybe due to being short staffed. Upon check out, my total came to around $64 and some change due to my vehicle taking an extra quart of oil, which I think is sort of ridiculous but it is what it is. I will NEVER conduct business with this location again! The problems began when the location did not have the tires when I arrived for the appointment time, nor did they notify me of this. When they finally found the set and installed them, they did not complete the alignment that was ordered while making the appointment. They did not apply the discount for the free 4th tire. When I went back in after looking over the receipt and noticed this, I was told that I had not requested an alignment. After I showed them the online order, I was told the system sometimes leaves things off. In regards to the fourth tire that I paid $185 for, they said they gave me free installation instead which would come to $102 with tubes etc. I asked to be refunded the difference between the tire cost and installation and was refused. After pointing out the price difference, the person again tried to show me that I didn't pay for installation. Then he told me, "This is what I do for a living. I don't come into your place of business and tell you how to do your job, so don't tell me how to do mine." I was then told that he was trying to make it right and would do the alignment for me. However, I refuse to let them near my car again and told them I just wanted a refund of the difference of which I was again denied. read more

Have you ever had that week where numerous bombs get dropped into your lap including a dead battery when you need to be to work early? This would be that week and after "getting a jump" headed into the new job while calling the closest Pep Boys. I asked for a quote on a new battery then was told the one I had might still be covered under warranty? The person I spoke to that morning greeted me at the counter that afternoon he even remembered our conversation. This is a small Pep Boys with only three seats available in the waiting area one was taken by a man the other two taken by a sleeping woman. Not wanting to disturb her choose to stand. Connor M. sees this then without comment graciously brought the stool from behind his desk for me to sit on while waiting leaving him standing. Horrible... just horrible. Called this morning to see if they could repair a tire. (Tire has been losing about 1-2 psi over 5 days). Stated I didn't need an appointment, just to drop off because it could take a few hours. Dropped off before 9:00am this morning. Car still parked out front at 5:30pm. Decided to just pick up the car and take it to a more competent shop. They didn't apologize, said nothing. They could have cared less. Handed me the keys and that was it. I'm not sure if they just decided not to do it until the end of the day or if they're incompetent with repairs and taking too long on other vehicles. who knows. Either way, they should be up front with turn-around times. Reading some of the other reviews, this is not a place you want to take our vehicle. If you despise money, love having your time wasted, or enjoy subpar parts and experience for your vehicle, you'll love pep boys off of jones bridge. I have used a shop pretty close to this one and they do a stand up job. I thought because it was simply a tire, they would honor the time commitment they quoted me and wouldn't be a big deal. Last night I went to Pep Boys for the good deal on oil change and tire rotation. The level of friendliness and professionalism exceeded all of my expectations. For women, going to an auto repair business is a daunting task because of how we are often mistreated and tricked. I can say that last night was definitely an exception. Ross and Sean not only completed the work without over charging for extra services and supplies, but they were able to point out that my transmission was leaking. My previous maintenance provider failed to tell me. This is going to save me money since my car is still under warranty. OMGness! ! I went in to buy 4 new tires because everyone was telling me they were bad and going flat. They are low profile tires. I knew that they were not that old, but hey, someone wants to buy you new tires, what would you do? So I'm fixing myself a cup of coffee and they come in and ask me why I was getting new tires. So I told them. And was told I didn't need new tires. How many companies will turn down a sale like that? ! Needless to say, when I DO need tires, you know where I'm going! RON NEEDS TO BE FIRED! I had a 9 o'clock appointment this morning to get the oil changed on my 2017 Ford Explorer . Got there at 9 AM and there was one person in front of me. Ron took forever with them talking about unique email addresses while a line of people were forming behind them. He told them that since they got there at 9 o'clock he would put them in for a 9 o'clock appointment. I set my 9 o'clock appointment 10 days ago. When I got to the counter I asked if my car would be before there's since I set my appointment over a week in advance. Ron immediately became confrontational and told me that I was late for my appointment and that my car would be taken in the order it was received. I told him that I saw him make the appointment for them on the spot and that I would like my car to go in first for a simple oil change. Immediately became even more confrontational and told me not to tell him how to do his job. We have spent tens of thousands of dollars at this Pep Boys between four different cars and I've never received as poor of service and outright disrespect as we did this morning. Worst place to get your repair done if you aren't looking to pay maximum possible dollar. Every car part is doubled in price and Labor is extremely expensive. It was going to cost a total of $500 to replace 1 easy o2 sensor plus the $99 diagnostics fee. The o2 sensor wasn't even the problem. It was the catalytic converter. I'm sure the workers have skill, but it isn't worth the price. Much cheaper options available. read more

Awful Experience! I took both my Nissan Altima and my son's Hyundai Santa on the same day. My Nissan only needed a new headlight, but came back with a large scrape on the front bumper. I was initially told they would have to take the bumper off to get to the light, but when I questioned the scrape I was told they did not take the bumper off and the scrape was already there. My son's Hyundai was never diagnosed, but they called me with a quote of $400 in repairs. I told him I would just take it to the dealership for the repairs. When I returned to the shop and saw that the car had never been moved from the parking lot the manage Joseph told me he called his friend at the Hyundai dealership and explained the problem I described to him. This is the only tire shop in the area that is genuine and gives you great prices. I would not go anywhere else! I drive a BMW and I save a lot by coming here. OH YEAH, THEY SAVED THE DAY!! Imagine my shock when my husband announced that we would not have our van for Memorial Day. WHAT? I was stunned to say the least. I had already missed out on the Belk sale yesterday while waiting on him to finish a minor repair, now this. It seems that he ran into a problem while trying to change one of the rear brake pads. I never even considered that a repair shop would be open today but my husband looked up Pep Boys and to our surprise, they were open. My husband talked to them about the problem and found out that they were able to address the problem today. We took the van right away and realized that were not even officially open yet. No problem, we complete the paper work and leave the van. We received a call shortly before 11:30 and it's ready. YaaaaaaaaaaaY!. We leave immediately to pick up the van, and are good to go. They were able to use our part that was already purchased, (not everyone is willing to do this), and they returned the damaged part as well. Winning!!!! read more

Very Shady, employees are nice, but not reliable. I was told I could bring my car in to get looked at but they couldn't that day and said it would be done tomorrow. Took several days before it was looked at. After completing repairs they suggested, my car still didn't work. They suggested another repair but were over charging for parts and labor. This is a dangerous establishment unless you think loose lug nuts and being verbally harassed is part of getting your car serviced. This is the second time in one week the store has left me shaking. The first time was after a tire rotation. As I drove home I kept hearing a loud rattle and drove home very nervously since the Pep Boys was now closed and asked my husband to check the car out and he found 8 loose lug nuts. This is dangerous and he called the store for a refund. They had a trainee working on the car and didn't check over his work. We also missed out on leaving town since we needed the car and had to take it to another place to get the lug nuts tightened and have everything checked out AGAIN because we weren't sure what was done correctly. George at Pep Boys said I would have to come in for the refund so we drove over there when we got back into town and they offered me a complimentary service next time instead. I admitted I didn't feel comfortable coming back and would like the refund instead. Since it was my car and debit card I thought they wanted me to come in for the refund so my husband stayed in the car with our sleeping infant which was good because it took a long time to process the refund. On my way out the manager,David, ran out to our car and yelled at my husband that next time he should come inside himself and called him a pu$$y! How absurd! Woke up my infant and scared me to death- this was 100% wrong. I was very quiet and nice when I went in for the refund which I thought I had to be present for otherwise I would be doing something else with my time. I am horrified by this experience and saddened that people act this way. I understand mistakes happen, although I am worried about how many other people are driving around with loose lug nuts as I watched the same trainee working today, and we appreciated the refund- but since David chased us out to the parking lot I had to warn others about this place. A tire store that can't do alignments, and haven't been able to for several months. They dont have an alignment machine. Meanwhile they tell me it's my fault my wheels are out of alignment, and I should go to the store 7 miles away. I bought the tires there or I would gladly go to the tire store across the street from them, you know, 1 mile away. I like Pep Boys service in general and I used to drive all the way to Peachtree Industrial to service my Dodge with them. But when I had a stalling issue recently, I had the tow truck drop off my car at this new location on Jones Bridge rd, because it's much closer to my home. It's nice that they had the tools, equipment and experience to figure out my complex stalling issue. After less than a day of troubleshooting and repairs they have figured out the issue and had me back on the road. People at front desk were nice and they provided me the opportunity to talk to the actual mechanic working on the car, which is how I think it should be done. I purchased 4 tires and rear brake pads at this location. First of all, I would like to say that service is reflective of management. I dealt with Mr. John Lingerfelt, manager of this location. He was detailed, extremely knowledgeable, and ultimately courteous. He worked around my time schedule and tried to see that I was very comfortable, since I was waiting for my vehicle. He gave me regular updates on the progress of the service. All aspects of my transaction were explained. As is Pep Boy's policy, Mr. Lingerfelt beat the price for my auto repair. I took my mothers 2006 Altima here for service. Her car needed the camshaft replaced. We provided the part but were told by the manager that they would need to get the part from the dealer. No problem the car was running smoothly and it's very simple to replace a sensor. After several days and several excuses I was told by technician Mike Brady that they were unable to fix the car because their was another problem with the engine. I paid $650 and picked up the car which was barely running. I drove directly to the dealer and after they ran extensive diagnostics they found that pep boys had not only placed an aftermarket(non dealer) part but that they'd also placed it incorrectly causing damage to the car computer/wiring and engine. Manager Abdul Bell at pep boys solution when I contacted him regarding the issue was to call their 800 nber to complain. The dealer fixed the car for $1500 for a problem that I could have avoided by not going to pep boys in the first place. Do not go to this place! read more

Honestly, I should have known better than to take my car here. I have a trusted mechanic and do a lot of car upkeep myself. I'm a woman in her mid twenties and every time I went in this location for an oil change I was hassled for extra services. It's a convenient location for an oil change, so I have been several times. This past time, the mechanic told me I needed over 900 dollars worth of extra work done to my car, not just my oil changed. He told me my steering and coolant fluid were dirty or low and needed changing, and my engine was "seeping" among other things. After my oil change I got home I looked under the hood to see what actually needed to be done. My fluids were in great condition and It has been running great with no evidence of any "seeping". They did a great job on my oil change, but the I can't ignore the scare tactics the mechanic tried to use on me. The mansplaining about what coolant does was honestly a little rude. Next time I will take my car somewhere else or just change my oil myself. read more
