Before I even get there Jared yells "I can't take any more walk ins" and I tell him I just have a nail in my tire... He says he doesn't care ... WTF I said I'm willing to wait, I have a 2 hour drive through the desert to get home ... can u just squeeze me in, it's really an emergency. NOPE! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. Customer service is nonexistent at this location. I came to get my tire checked because it was leaking air. I purchased my tires at a different Pep Boys location but came here today since it's closer to where I live. ANYWAYSSSSS. The little guy with long hair (didn't catch his name) told me to pull my car around to this first garage and he would meet me outside. He didn't. So I parked my car and walked around back to the front of the store and waited. Then he came out from the back and told me to head back to the car so he could take a look. So I walked back around to the garage. He looked at my tire and sure enough there was a nail in it. He walked away and came back to spray it with Windex. Yup, the nail was still there. It didn't get washed away with the Windex. Then he walked away without telling me anything. He didn't say excuse me or I'll be right back or we'll get this fixed or anything at all. He just disappeared. So I stood next to my car for about 5 minutes before another employee passed by taking the trash out. It turns out the little guy went inside because he had to take a phone call because apparently there wasn't five other employees doing NOTHING in the empty store. RUUUUUDEEE. This is something that I should have spent about 10 minutes in and out to get fixed. I wasted 25 minutes and accomplished NOTHING except getting pissed off. read more

if I could give 0 stars I would. I took my car in to get engine repairs under my insurance. A week later they call me saying it was broken into and has a smashed window. The MANAGER RONALD claims he called me to inform me, I have 0 missed calls, no emails & neither did my father. When addressing the situation he cussed out my father saying things like "i don't give a fuck what happened to your vehicle, you can come and get your car the way it is, I don't have to deal with this shit" and said he was not responsible for the damages, then kicked my mother out of the store when she went in asking for information. The car should've been inside the garage to avoid this, they should've IMMEDIATELY took responsibility and never ever addressed a customer in that form. Then to top it off he gave my keys to my sister without asking ANY information, her name isn't even on the vehicle, for God's sake she could've been a stranger and there goes my car being given away. Eventually after 4 people arguing with them and threatening a law suit and getting police involved they agreed to pay for the damages. It should NEVER be this hard to get things done that was their fault to begin This is sad and this manager should be fired. No one in the position to deal with customer related requests should have this type of negative attitude. read more

I was at the pep boys in Lancaster to purchase car oil. Being that I'm a breast cancer survivor I notice they had these cute hats that said Fight like a girl...I really wanted to purchase a hat but. They all looked all faded and old. So I purchase some Pistachios and my oil. Talk about OLD...geez I just opened the bag of nuts and they tasted horrible, exp 12-13-14. Yuck!! All there stuff apparently is old and sitting on the shelf is old or out of date. So be careful what you buy there, make sure your product isn't old. Absolute worst service on not one but several occasions. We use to always take our vehicles to this location because we trusted the work. Over the last year everytime we attempt to have something done we are always told "the person who does that isn't here". This happened 4 different times 3 for a smog check and once for a diagnostic. Each time we had made an appointment and specified what it was for only to be told when we showed up that it couldn't be done. Clearly they didn't want our money so we went elsewhere. Don't ever have work done here. I had a small leak in a gasket where the oil filter adapter attaches to the block. This is a fairly simple job to replace a gasket they wanted $434.00. Went to an auto shop I had seen and asked them to confirm the diagnosis and what it would cost to fix. They confirmed the diag and fixed it for $178.00. I just made $256.' read more

Do not go to this store for alignment work. They have no documentation to show work done, they will misalign your steering wheel. Moreover, they will take over 5 hours performing the work. You will always be better off going anywhere else. I got a refund, but now I need to not only get an alignment, but I also need to straighten my steering wheel. I've been to my share of Pep Boys through the years but this is by far the worst. The other day my wife dropped off her truck for an oil change and they returned it a grimy, greasy mess. It took me about an hour of scrubbing to get it clean. To top it off, they treated her like crap and that's simply inexcusable. I've had other problems with them recently and this is the final straw. Terrible experience! I purchased 4 new tires and an alignment. I wsited from 4pm to closing just to have the work done. All because there "certified" mechanic could not figure out how to do the alignment. After all that the car did not feel right so I had it check by the dealer and the alignment pep boys did was waaaaay off. So the first time we went there because we didn't want to drive all the way to the dealership so we took it to Pep Boys. (You get what you pay for right? My mistake. Sighs.) While they serviced it, my husband sees them using their phone as reference instead of a manual. After they finished servicing it, and changing our tires, they didn't reset the computer and just left all the warnings there. Then they tell us we need to bring the car to the dealership ANYWAYS because they can't reset it for us, it's a dealership thing. So I'm sitting in the parking lot and I look at the manual and actually read the darn thing and guess what? I figured it out and reset our computer myself. The next time I went there because of low pressure in my tire. I took it to a Firestone and he said my tires look pretty new and I probably have a warranty, which I do. I take my car to Pep Boys and go inside prepared to show someone my paperwork. I walk up to the manager and he asks me what's wrong, I say I have low tire pressure, maybe a leak or hole. He then ROLLS his eyes and then proceeds to SIGH the biggest sigh. Then he talks to someone on his earpiece and tells me to pull my car up to the back. When I get there and tell the guy my tire has a leak, the guy ALSO sighs the biggest sigh. They are soo rude. Today, one of my tires was low again. I bring it in to the Lancaster Pep Boys, and they don't have the equipment to do tire patches. He tells me that I would need to drive to the Palmdale one 8-9 miles away for a tire patch. I ask him if it's safe to drive, he said I should leave the window down and listen to the tire for a whooshing sound. I told him I heard the sound when I drove into my garage. He said he didn't hear any sound at moment. He says if I can hear the air, then go to the gas station to fill it with air. So I start driving a block to the nearest gas station and immediately hear air. Some very nice guy helps me add air to my tire (he offered). And highly recommended I not drive on it. Because the tires was supposed to be at 36 psi, but it was at 20 psi, and he tried and tried, but couldn't get it pass 30. And air kept whooshing out as quickly as he filled it. The main point is the pep boys guy told me drive when I shouldn't have and didn't bother to check my air or anything. My husband called the Palmdale Pep Boys and they told him I shouldn't drive there with my tire like that. Rico then took my tire to the Palmdale pep boys. And now that I've purged my resentment and disappointment with the Lancaster Pep Boys, I feel a little better. But I still wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They are unprofessional, rude, and aren't reliable. read more

Went in to inquire as to status after 2.5 hours as the vehicle had yet to be touched. We were told the service tech was at lunch for an hour, and it would take another 45 min after that. I took my car in a 2015 Scion XB on 9/11 for a simple oil change, I realized the service manager was writing my service order using Synthetic oil I told him that according to the Toyota Dealer my car takes regular oil. I was told by this guy that he didn't care what the dealer said his computer said synthetic mind you, I am retired from General Motors after 30 years so I pretty much know my cars and what kind of oil goes in them I probably have forgotten more than this guy knows. I know that Synthetic oil increases the life of my oil change but it's not worth the $25.00 increase in the price of an oil change since I change my oil on time. Newer cars do use synthetic oil but this is a scam don't fall for it call the dealership or read your manual and find out what kind of oil your car uses (it's free) I cannot recommend doing any kind of business with Pep Boys. Called about a check engine light on my truck. James and M went to pull the code.....And showed me that it wasn't a check engine light, but a maintenance required light! My last oil change, the shop didn't reset the light at the time of service. They checked my fluids, reset the light and sent me on my way. They even checked to see if any codes were being thrown by the truck! Didn't charge me at all. Professional and courteous. I had a 9am appointment for a brake job this morning. I left a 1pm. They took the car in right away and there it sat. For over an hour no one was in the service bay. The service manager was cleaning his windows and arguing with the cashier, I mean they were arguing like crazy. I asked another guy what's going on with my car? He went out and yelled at the mechanics and they got on it. He said it would be ready in half an hour. That turned into more than an hour. No apology was offered. On the way home there is a scrapping noise coming from the wheel. I will not go back but will see if Pep Boys in Palmdale can help me. This was a nightmare!!!! read more

I made an appointment at 6 p.m. when I arrived I was informed that they didn't have enough mechanics and I should reschedule so I just left.

I took my car in for an oil change and requested to have the tire pressure cheched too. The guy said "that is always done" The oil change did not take long, but the mechanic was doing something to my car for about 30 minutes (something that my car did not needed to have done) After 45 minutes I was asked to sign for the bill. The bill showed "tire pressure checked and tire rotation done", but none of those two things happened. I let the guy know that I observed all the time what the mechanic was doing and the tires were not rotated nor the tire pressure checked. The guy did not seemed to care. read more

Went in for a simple oil change. I only gave them one instruction please don't roll down the drivers side window. Low and behold the first thing this guy does is roll it down about 6-8 inches. Then he can't find reverse on my standard manual vehicle. Long story short my window is stuck partially down and I'm basically shit out of luck. Would not recommend coming here when they can't even follow the most simplistic instructions. read more

I was driving home from an oil change and I noticed the scent of oil inside my car, I payed little attention to it until I got home and noticed my car is smoking. I open the hood to find out that the person who did the oil change forgot to put the cap back on where the oil is being stored. Because of that screw up, there is oil literally everywhere. I'm only giving this post 1 star because there's nothing lower. Worst experience ever. No sense of customer service. No desire to help customers out. I will never come here (this store) or this chain again. Cheap is not always better. I received better customer service from the dealer to whom I had to go when this store refused to provide me any service. An appointment at this store means nothing. On Monday, I went on the internet placed an appointment for service, on Thursday. Thirty minutes before appointment I arrived at the store. I was met by a 15 minute wait at the counter with no service agent in sight. After finally being greeted. I was advised that I would have to leave my vehicle over night and they would get to it first thing in the morning. An unacceptable experience, why allow appointment scheduling over the internet if all your going to do is tell the customer, you don't have time to perform the service the customer needs. read more
