I am so frustrated with this Pep Boys. It's the closest one to my house so I always have to go here. I bought my tires with them a little less than a year ago and I have the misfortune of getting nails in my tires...because of that I purchased their tire protection plan or whatever and let me tell you it is ALWAYS SUCH A HASSLE trying to get them to check out my tires. They can never help me the same day they want me to make a next day appointment or leave my car there ALL day. Well I'm sorry I didn't make an appointment before driving over a nail! Today I was particularly annoyed going there because as I walked up to the tire counter the guy that was there was on his phone and didn't even look up or put his phone away I waited to speak until he looked up. They are NEVER HELPFUL. If you can I suggest saving yourself some trouble and going down the street to Huntington tire shop. read more

I live locally here in Monrovia and have been here several times for various car things. The store is clean and organized. The prices for goods inside are reasonable and the service is always prompt, friendly and professional. I've had to leave my cars here a couple times to get new batteries for them. Prices are the beat in the area and they'll install for like 8 bucks. Will keep coming back. That said though, the waiting area for service ain't the best. While the seats are comfy and they do have a Keurig, the tv they have up on the wall wasn't turned on which could have enhanced my experience. read more

This PepBoys reeks of bad businessmen. I wonder how they are still in business. They deserve a zero star review. I took my car in there for a battery terminal repair. They repaired the battery terminal just fine; but the windows would not roll up and the AIRBAG LIGHT was turned ON. I found out about the light as I drove off the lot (they didn't even care to check the car before handing it over to me); so I drove back in there. They fixed the windows issue the same night, but could not fix the airbag light issue and told me to come back after 2 days (what kind of auto shop lets you drive off the lot with AIRBAG light ON?? Thats a SAFETY HAZARD). I went back in two days and waited in the waiting area for 4 HOURS. Still not fixed. Eventually, the mechanic told me to take the car to dealer (saying they don't have the tools to reset the light/ read the error code). WHAT??? SO I just waited 3 days to find out that PEPBOYS is INCOMPETENT to fix the problem that they created in the first place. Instead of owning up to there mess, they just asked me to go see a dealer. Instead of being apologetic, the service manager named Che was arrogant about the situation. He also told me that he cannot help me and that it was my fault that I brought my car here to PepBoys (Yes he said that..really). I took the car to other local autoshop and they fixed the light within 30 minutes (they just had to reset and recal. it- simple). THESE GUYS WILL RIP YOU OFF. DO NOT GO HERE. I WILL NEVER GO HERE. I brought my car here after Jiffy Lube told me I needed a new alternator. Art was very helpful in quoting me and taking my car right in. A short while later Art called me to notify me that my alternator was fine, since I had just changed my battery the computer had to be reset. They reset it for me and checked my alternator which was fine and my car worked like new again. Ethical and honest, you can bring your car here and trust they know what they're doing and they will not trick you into buying parts or services you don't need. We usually come here for oil changes because it's so close to our house. It's always been OK. They get the job done, and we enjoy that they never seem overly pushy or like they are trying to up-sell. A few months back, we took our Prius in for an oil change and a rodent check (since we had signs of a mouse in the car). They found no rodents, so we started to leave. We barely got out of the parking space before the car displayed a hybrid warning light and died. Considering nothing was wrong with the car prior to us bringing it in, we figured they had done something to it. We walked back in, told them what happened, and they seemed completely unconcerned. They basically said, "sorry, we don't work on hybrid systems, can't help you." It seemed obvious to us at the time that Pep Boys had done something to the car, but they wouldn't listen at all. We had to wait for a tow, tow it to another lot, and wait overnight until the other place opened. We then paid $50 for the other place to tell us that a cord on the hybrid system had been unplugged during the rodent check. They plugged it back in, and everything was fine. I understand that Pep Boys cannot work on hybrid systems, but I did expect that they would at least look at the car to be sure they had not caused the problem. Because of the complete lack of customer service, we probably won't be back. read more

O Pep Boys how you disappoint me. I have been coming here for my oil changes and routine maintenance for about 4 years. What their prices are online is not necessarily what they are when you get there. Typical auto shop, there is always an up sale, always trying to tell me I need something when I know I don't. And then in the end, after complaining, they end up giving you a discount. It's just not worth the hassle. Fast forward to today, Wednesday, I made my appointment online on Monday, I get there 10 minutes early, no one at the desk. All the workers are chatting out in the work bay. There is a woman ahead of me and soon two waiting behind me. After waiting 20 minutes, I get to the front desk only to find out that not only will they not honor my appointment, it will take them 2 hours just to get to my car. I was told that the online appointment system is not connected to their in house appointment system. Then what's the point? And the appointments are booked for the rest of the week. Sorry Pep Boys, I drove over to the local Jiffy Lube, and in the time it's taken me to write this review. My car is almost done. Guess I won't be coming back to you. read more

They don't deserve one star. After waiting almost 12 hours for an oil change, their rep told me to pick up my car and come back tomorrow. I called at 8am in the morning to ask if they will be able to do an oil change. The guy told me just bring the car as early as you can, and they will take care of it. I showed up with my car within 10 minutes, and he told me it will be done. I called a few hours later to check on the status, and a few hours after that. They haven't start with my car because they are busy. I called at 7pm to check because they close at 8pm, and I told the rep I have waited all day for a simple oil change. He kept saying it will be done by end of day. And according to him, his "end of day" is not 8pm, they may work late because they are "busy". He laughed at me when I said I waited 11 hours for an oil change. He told me "the person who helped me in the morning is Richard, and he is the manager. Richard usually don't tell customer an estimate time. He should have but I can't do anything about it because he is my manager. but I always tell customers it will be done by end of day". He continued, "you can pick up your car right now, and come back tomorrow morning." Not only he blamed his own manager for their inconsistent services, he laughed at me, but also, he did not attempt anything to resolve the issue. He just trying to kick me out of the store so he won't get blamed. I went ahead to pick up my car, it's not very convincing that they are so "busy" when only 2 of their 8 garages had cars in them, in which one of the car has been at the same spot since morning. On the service counter, the Store Manager of Service put a sign says, "if you are not completely satisfied with the service call my cell." I called and left a message last night. I still didn't get a callback. They didn't even have the curtesy to clean up after themselves, I found plastic and paper in my car that they are too busy to for. Store Manager, if you don't mean it, don't put it on your counter. It's just unprofessional to lie to your customers. I have gone to this store for several years now, it was never this bad. You probably don't really care to lose one customer because you are so "BUSY". read more

Came into this shop for a check engine light code retrieval, which on the company's webpage is listed as a FREE service. It took three associates to page someone to the service desk. Had this been less important, I would have left immediately, instead I waited to give them a chance. Several minutes later, one of their so-called technicians comes out, w/o the slightest bit of acknowledging my presence, makes it a priority to state the service being of charge. After bringing him up to speed with what's advertised online, he exclaims that in either event the technician assigned to the task is off. What a cheap way to blow off a potential customer. He was rude, to say the least. How difficult is connecting a device underneath the dashboard of a car to get a code? A monkey would be capable. Accordingly, I will not return and make it a point to inform corporate of these practices. Not giving a star was not an option. Otherwise, I wouldn't have. read more

I would give it 0 stars especially for the bad service from the manager "Rich" called Tuesday Nov 13 to set up an appointment for Saturday the 17th he said yeah thats fine we have the parts I got there 745am they already opened the doors I was the first person there simple brake inspection but hey they didnt call me until 3:37pm said I need all 4 rotors and all brakes pads...7 hours just for an inspection...I said fine let's do it. Called 5:47 PM to see If the car was ready I got the reply of "oh he is lubricating everything right now so almost" showed up about 620 PM car was still on the lift with no tires on I talked to the other guy DIMAS and he has no idea I told him everything since "RICH" wasnt there anymore so told him how I waited 7 hours for just the inspection didnt get to leave till 6:50pm or more called 11 hours for a brakes abs rotor job reminding you I was early as hell called at 7:01pm back and told DIMAS these whole brake pad and rotors squeel more than my worn out ones he said bring it back but he checked and brake guy was gone already so he said he cant do anything tomorrow because he only has 1 guy and he doesnt do brakes.. so he said come back Monday they need to switch them...came back today Monday the 19th and oh "RICH" is here now I told him parts are worse than my old worn out ones he said bring it some other day cuz heavy repairs are earlier in the days so I guess you cant bring a car after 230pm cuz they just do oil and simple stuff after Wtf? Really? So I said can you call Pepboys in Temple City he said they can take me now! As a "manager" that's what he should of said first! Wasting more of my time! Got to the Temple city one dropped it off after I left I got a call from them saying the Brake guy had an emergency so they cant look at my car so there I go getting my car back wasting more of my time not their fault. I arrived at the appointed time and no tires. No I'm sorry for the delay. No nothing! I ended up at a local independent business. Very grateful to this pepboys! I popped a tire getting coffee in downtown Monrovia headed into work. My tire immediately went flat and I had to get it towed by AAA to this pepboys. They were super busy because of the tire promotion (buy 3 get one free), but they still fit me in! They told me it would be done by end of day (5 or 6 pm), but it was done at lunch! By about 12:30 pm. Very grateful for their quick service and help! read more

I stopped by on my way to automobile club , needed a smog check to complete transfer of vehicle I just purchased ( I was in a time crunch ) I was attended by ART GUTIERREZ , assistant manager. I was greeted upon entering the service department , was written up for the service and waited. My wife and I walked the store , then came to their waiting area and had a seat. Before I knew it ART was walking over the remote to their tv and was being offered refreshments. Best retail experience at an automobile establishment by far ! Imagine my surprise when I received a call barely an hour later that the tires were all checked and the nail found! Plus the cost was half of what they estimated it would have been. I came here yesterday 3:00pm with an appointment. I just need oil change and maintenance check and the guy who work there told me my car would be done by the end of the day, but they called me 15 minutes before they close I missed the call they left me voicemail and said that my car can't be done today they would do my car the first thing in next day morning. I tried to call back around 7:50pm but the call just immediately went to call us during store hours (they close at 8:00pm) They open the shop at 7:30am, I assume my car should be done by 9ish. So I came in next day morning around 9:45am and my car still not done yet. The guy told me cuz there are so many appointments yesterday, I was like if you guys can't handle that many appointments than you guys shouldn't take that many appointments also have the better communication and solution, not just tell the customer to wait forever. I still have to wait an hour or an hour and half now. I'm very disappointed with the service here. read more

Appointments are pointless. I should have known. Needed new brake pads and rotors thanks to some heat glazing. Turns out my rotor is an odd size so i had to wait about 3 extra hours to get the work done. Not having the parts is not a service problem, just annoying. The service guys were polite and did a good job. They even gave me a small discount to compensate for the long wait, which was nice, and smart on their part. They also rotated my tires for free. I only gave them three stars because the main reason I showed up (a loud tire like noise at speed over 70) is still there. I would have returned to the shop to have the sound investigated again, but I live pretty far away. read more

While I had a decent experience with new Cooper tires some time ago, one of the tires had a slow leak which was concerning to me since my son uses the car to drive to school. He texted me that the tire is low and the warning light came on. He doesn't get home from school until 7pm so I called this the service department to let them know I was coming in for a patch. They wouldn't fit me in. I explained to the service person that it was for my son to drive safely to school, that I bought the tires there some months ago, and a patch wouldn't take long. He wouldn't budge. I work in a service industry, so I thought Pep Boys would go above and beyond especially since I was a customer, my son needed to be safe to drive to school tomorrow, and they want my future business. While I would have stayed open, don't expect anything special or above and beyond from this Pep Boys. read more

Ok ladies (and gentlemen who have ladies they care about)! Che, (manager of the greatest mechanics and guys around) including Art, Carlos, Mario and all the others; are the most honest, caring, thoughtful, reasonable people that I've ever met in the car industry! I have 2 vehicles, low mileage, but almost 15 years old each. My husband drives a truck for a living, so is not home to keep them up. He began taking the vehicles to Pep Boys and insisted that I take them there for maintenance and upkeep. Well...when it rains, it pours and these old gals began have age problems. Thank goodness my husband had sent me to Pep Boys, Monrovia. I have had my vehicles in the shop, one after the other for 2 months! My cars were just suffering old "age-itis" and a belt or a bracket has worn out. However, EVERY time I have taken one of them in, I have been greeted with respect and above all honesty! I am never oversold on anything! Che always make sure that I am safe, but also gives me options so that I can budget. He explains and even shows me broken belts or parts so that I understand what is going on. I have, several times in the past, been treated like a dumb woman when dealing with guys from the auto industry and it is so refreshing to know that I am given complete respect! After a very disappointing experience at a dealership I decided to give Pep Boys a try. I needed my brakes done and was afraid it was going to be astronomical. I was pleasantly surprised when they quoted me a little under $400 and had my car done in 4 hours. They even called me to tell me the pparts they had to order turned out to be cheaper than expected so the quote was reduced. The service was quick, affordable, and pleasant. I have to say, they got it right this time. I had the car towed in Saturday, with an electrical short. They told me it would be ready Monday midday. Great service! I went in with a slow leak in my tire and had intended on purchasing 2 new ones. The staff checked the treads and said the tires were actually in good shape, so they'd try to repair the leak before just simply selling me a new one. That is true honesty!
