This used to be a good store years ago but now it's really bad! I've been there twice and online said they had it and when I got there they told me we don't have that. They blamed it on the online system and I must of made of mistake. When I looked at my email it said available for pick up today!! They didn't offer to get one from another store or anything. They just brushed it off. Then I tried to use my debit/ credit card twice and it wouldn't let me do it without using my pin. I don't use my pin. I use it as credit. Brought my car in for a state inspection and a couple of repairs and it ended up taking all day so I had to pick my car up in the morning. Upon returning home with my car I found that my Cadillac CTS tire pump that comes with the car instead of a spare tire was missing. After many calls to this location and a face to face discussion. The workers of pep boys hid behind the you signed the paper saying they aren't responsible for anything crap. After spending almost $700 on my visit to pep boys they either have an employee that's a thief and gets away with it or they leave peoples car out in an open lot with no security and with let anyone come steal from people vehicles. With how much I spent I would've thought they would actually look into if their employee had stolen my stuff but instead they only looked at very bad quality video footage that had no angle on the side of the car. Will never return to this location even if my car is going to explode and I encourage anyone who sees this review to do the same. Wish it would let me give 0 stars but oh well read more

We go further to help you go further is a joke! I walked into this Pep Boys with a strap the exact length of the direct drive belt I needed. Upon entering, there was an employee at the counter who greeted me and I approached. I informed him that I needed a direct drive belt this length. He began murmuring information about belts clearly not wanting to go look. I interrupted the man and simply asked, are you going to sell me a belt? He replied, no, it's not cost effective for me to go compare your ribbon to all of my belts. I could understand this excuse if the store were busy, but being the only customer inside...Do better! I'm well aware that these belts can't be returned so in my head, I just gave you the opportunity to sell multiple belts... I wonder how long this Pep Boys will last once the new, and much larger, Advance Auto opens up next door. read more

Came here because it was Sunday and I needed a state inspection ASAP. Other places I went to didn't do inspections on Sunday so I was in a bind. Thankfully they weren't terribly busy and was able to take care of my car with no problems. They were courteous and answered any questions I had. I asked for a $40 oil change and was charged $80. Person behind the desk was very. I will not be coming back.

First of all I'm not the type of person that would normally complain. So for me to take the time to write this review it has to be pretty bad.I order two tires online and scheduled the install for 6pm 8/9 at the North Military Hwy location. Tire tires were ordered and install scheduled online the day before. I received a call from the service associate, Terri, at 4:30 on 8/9 telling me my tires would not be in until two days later. When I asked for a better explanation of the issue, she just hung up the phone on me. I proceeded to call back and asked to speak to the service manager. I was placed the phone with Michael Anderson. He proceeded to tell me that he could get the tires in the next day but I had to bring the car in and leave it first. Instead of going back and forth over the phone I proceeded to drive to the location. Once I arrived Mr. Anderson at first told me he did not see any file in the computer of me ordering tires online the day before as well as no record of the two tires I purchased from "him" on 7/9. I explained to him that he was the one that sold me the first two tires and recommended them to me. After about 10 mins he was able to find my record in the computer and stated for some reason it was not there earlier. He never apologized and kept blaming the computer. After that debacle he stated that the tires I purchased online are not the correct tires for my vehicle. This is after he sold me the exact same tires, size and all, two weeks prior. Finally he said that he would order them from another location and get them in Wednesday morning and for me to leave the vehicle overnight. I agreed I would and asked if I could get the vehicle soon after he received the tires. Mr. Anderson proceeded to tell me that I had to go to the back of the line of the work orders he already had for Wednesday. I explained that I had a 6pm appointment for Tuesday and its not my fault they don't have the tires. He says "It doesn't matter that you had an appointment for Tuesday". At this point I was so frustrated with the customer service at this location I would've left if I could've gotten a matching set of tires somewhere else in the area. Mr. Anderson refused to address the rudeness of both his employ, Terri, as well as himself. I asked for a # to reach his supervisor and he refused to give it to me. He stated that anything I had to say was going to come right back to him. This after he refused to address any issues. I am a first responder in the city of Norfolk and never had a business frustrate me this much. I've spent $1,020 at this location over the past two weeks and will never return. I guess that is the price for horrible customer service and rudeness. You can't convince me this business values customers. read more

I have amazing experiences at this location and with other locations, until today. Upon entering today I was greeted by sales associate and went over to drop my keys at the service desk for a couple services to be performed. The Service Manager was on the phone so I waited patiently. Before he hung up with that call the phone was ringing again. Again I waited patiently and observed the look of annoyance on his face, not sure if it was because the phone kept ringing or because I was standing there or both. Once he completed the second the call he just looked at me. Never said a word, just looked. I approached the counter and was greeted with "What can I do for you?" in an annoyed tone. After telling him what I was there for, I handed over the keys, asked for a call when it was completed and left. My appointment was scheduled for the morning and by the afternoon I hadn't heard anything from them so I called and was greeted by a different, much more pleasant employee who told me what they found and gave me an estimate. I declined the estimate, and good thing I did, because it wasn't something pressing that absolutely needed to be done and the price tag was, in my opinion, outrageous. I am currently writing this because I've been price comparing parts with different stores and with Pep Boys online. I looked up all of the parts they quoted after noticing a huge price difference in the first part. The 6 parts quoted were almost $300 more than if I just bought the parts online before the online discount. That's not even including the labor that is 1/3 more than the price of the parts. read more

We went in for a state inspection and the guy Michael told us that the inspector came in at 9 and we would be in and out. Long story short we made some friends with some of the other people waiting forever as well. Waited all that time to be told we needed things to pass. Not to mention if anyone has an 11 month old and your wife breadtfeeds, its not really easy when your child begans to get restless. I wont be going there again. read more

If you don't have anything better to do than sit and watch a TV that's signal cuts in and out, come on down. Dont EVER go here for an inspection. Crooks!! I was given a bill for over $1000 to pass inspection. The guy acted like he was shocked when i refused the work. I had both a mobile mechanic and local dealership look at it. Total work done was $300. Pep Boys integrated several things into the bill that weren't even necessary to pass inspection. read more

I set up an appointment a day prior and I received a call later that day that I can't make appointments for state inspections. Understandable. The shop opens at 0800 and I walk in at 0806, the man behind the counter says it will be a three hour wait, long but I need the car to get inspected. We are now on hour five (5) and all I'm getting is that "the car is next". This wasn't supposed to be an all day affair. I've seen cars come in and out but granted they aren't all here for inspections but since I did show up early and there were only two people ahead of me I should not be here for FIVE HOURS and counting.. maybe I should wait five and a half hours to pay.... read more

She was loud and it was awful to watch. What kind of company lets a person, I'm guessing the manager, work for their company with that type of attitude. The man working the desk today was so unbelievably cruel to me, I have never in my life been treated like this. I used to work in customer service myself and i'm absolutely floored at how I was treated here for a simple visit. I made an appointment online for a state inspection and a conventional oil change (I was able to select both when making the appointment). I got there and he confidently said he was done doing inspections for the day. I was in a rush, having moved here recently. I told him I couldn't put my plates on my car until I had the inspection done, he said that was not true. I said yes it is, I will get pulled over if I don't have an inspection sticker, reciting what the DMV told me earlier this week. He told me I was lied to. Why would I believe a pep boys employee over a government employee for legal issue? Then, I asked if I could still get my oil change done. When the amount appeared on the credit card machine, it was almost $85. I asked if that was the amount for conventional oil, and he said no. He said it was for synthetic. He didn't even confirm with me what type of oil I wanted. I told him I had asked for conventional per the appointment I booked online. He then tells me that my car won't take conventional, only synthetic. I drive a 2018 Honda Civic, nothing fancy. I've owned my car for three years and never had an issue putting conventional oil in it. I've never heard of this in my life. He then argues with me, said he'll try and do conventional, and suddenly "the computer won't let me do it". I had to leave. I've never had so many things go wrong and be treated like this for something so simple. To make it worse, there were two men behind me watching this all go down. Took my truck to Pep boys recently on a Sunday for an Oil change and TPMS system calibration. They said no problem but you need to go to AutoZone to pickup the oil and filter. They said they could do the work in 1.5 hours. So I waited. 3 hours later I asked how much longer and they said very soon, 45 minutes later the guy tells me its done. I paid with a debit and went to my truck and the TPMS system has not been touched. I went back into the store and they wanted me to drive the truck back to their shop and the mechanic will take care of it. Another hour goes by and the guy tells me they will have to return my money as they were not able to fix my TPMS system. He then told me they have no cash and I would have to return the next day when the manager was there. I went the next day and the woman behind the counter became irritated which made me irritated and she said I would have to come back again in 3 days to get the money that they stole from me for the work they could not do. Made phone calls to their corporate office and no-one returned my call. Worst operation I have ever seen. Stay away from this place, looks like I will have to go to small claims court to get my money back. They are not even worth the 1 star I gave them!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

After a long wait 2 1/2 hours for AAA to come tow my Jeep for a tire repair I was stressed, annoyed, tired and probably not the most pleasant so I finally made it to Pep Boys on Military Highway. Moe was my sales assistant she was super kind and understanding of my frustration. I even got a discount which is a plus these days. Ok, so I made an appointment to have my oil changed at 9am this morning. My original appointment was 1pm, but Monique (WHO IS FABULOUS!) told me to come in earlier because the state inspection I needed as well is easier to get to in the morning. First off, this place is a MAD HOUSE. It was so incredibly busy and I ended up waiting about 3.75 hours total. To many this is absolutely ridiculous. Around the 2 hour mark, which is what I was told the timeframe would be, I noticed my car hadn't even budged from my parking spot. I asked why my car wasn't taken back and they said that the inspector is still working on cars that failed inspection. Apparently this includes cars from the night before, which I did not know. At the 3 hour mark I was getting aggravated because again, my car had not moved at all. So I stood in line and was visibly irritated. There was a huge line and the front desk customer service reps were running around busy as all heck. It was finally my turn and Monique, who is just the sweetest person, was like yes, I am working on your ticket. No one actually asked me what help I needed because they knew I was already waiting and probably didn't want to get yelled at, which isn't what I intended to do anyway. I was just DYING from waiting so long, so I wanted an update. The mechanic who does the inspections was sitting behind Monique and was like "Really, there is no good time to come for an inspection. It is always like this." Which is the truth and I understand. It was so busy and I am not the type of person to freak out because circumstances are the way they are. I asked Monique to please give me a timeframe so I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. She tried calling back to the mechanic but there was no answer (about 5 minutes). Then she walked to the back (took about 3-5 minutes) and came back and said they were taking my car back in 5 to 10 minutes. I was SO happy! I was out of there about 30 - 40 minutes later. I think establishments like this have really hard workers and the environment is stressful. I was so pleased with the customer service who remained helpful even in the face of SEVERAL angry customers. I know EXACTLY how that feels and had no interest AT ALL to make their lives worse. Honestly, they all deserve raises. Monique was wonderful on the phone and in person, and even though I had to wait I would definitely come back for car work. Next time, however, I'll just drop my car off. Also, I used a coupon for $49.99 for a synthetic oil change that included tire rotation. State inspection was $16. Total plus tax was $70 and some change. It was the cheapest I found. The wait, however, is atrocious! read more

I will never go to this place again. My truck needed a water pump. I didn't want to drive it until it was repaired. My wife took it to Pep Boys in Norfolk. They diagnosed the truck saying I needed a new Timing belt as well. They quoted me $1200. I told them this was too much. When my wife went to pick up the car they charged her $38 for the estimate. I have never been charged for an estimate ever. That did not sit well with us. I found a place to do the exact same repairs for $800. I can't comment on their ability to perform the repairs, only on their pricing. Way too high. read more

I went in to get my wheels fixed, along with a state inspection and tire rotation. All of that got done in just under 8 hours, yes...8 hours. And just as I was about to pay, one of their mechanics hands me my car key, which is snapped in 2. Another mechanic obliterated it, picked it up off the ground and left it on some desk. He was gone upon myself learning about it too. So after waiting ALL DAY, I now had another errand to run, but don't worry...Pep Boys "gladly" picked up the tab on that one from the dealership down the street, about $160. Hopefully it came out of that shitbag's paycheck. Not coming back to this one ever again. The fact that someone accidentally breaks a customers belongings, and doesn't say or do anything about it, is disturbing. Hopefully the wheels on my car don't fall off when I'm on the interstate. read more

I called on Monday afternoon and asked them for 4 new tires for my truck. They said they could do that and I made an appointment for Wednesday at 11. Well it's Wednesday and I have now been here for 2 hours. My truck is finally up on a lift but no one is working on it. This is ridiculous! It doesn't take 2 hours to get 4 new tires! I could understand if I didn't call and make an appointment in advance. But no. They make me wait for over 2 hours even with an appointment. I will never come back here again. I wanna preface this review by saying that the customer service was mixed. If you are attempting to call this store, be prepared to call several times because they may just put you on hold and leave you there. In store, the service was either good or I was talking to someone who obviously didn't want to be there. As for specifics, I took my vehicle in for an inspection. After a day, and them not calling me back, I called them to see what happened. After about five attempts to reach the service desk, I spoke to someone whom obviously didn't feel that giving me the time of day was important (difficult to understand, obviously angry, etc.). Apparently my truck failed inspection because the tires were slightly oversize. Now, these tires were installed at Wal-mart and were practically new. I called them that day to see if putting smaller tires on the front would be enough (since staggering wheel size is a common practice with rear wheel drive vehicles), and they didn't know...they needed to wait for the guy to come that had completed the initial inspection (as in if I put these tires on, the inspection would be a pass). They told me 6:30 pm and they would give me a call. 7:00 pm comes around and I have to call them back for them to tell me that the guy hasn't shown up and it wont be until tomorrow morning for it to be done. So 11:00 am rolls around and I, of course, have to call them. For them to tell me that the work hadn't been done yet. I told them "I need this done today," and they have it done by 1:00 pm. All was fine and well and I was semi-satisfied just to have the work completed, until I received an e-mail back from the Safety Division of the Virginia Government in regards to my vehicle failing on terms of tire size. Here was this response: "While tire and rim size play a vital role in a vehicle's performance, this is not considered part of the inspections process." The guy I initially spoke to at Pep Boys told me I needed all four tires change. Then I, the inexperienced consumer, had to suggest a cheaper alternative. Then I find out that it's not even legal to fail an inspection based on tire size, which was my original suspicion and reason for contacting the police. tl;dr: Don't get an inspection done at a place that sales car parts for their source of profit. Find a non chain, someone you can trust. I will, unfortunately, never return to this Pep Boys and will likely not be going to another Pep Boys in the near future. My time is too valuable to be given the run-around for 3 days on a simple tire change and I have issues with dishonesty. read more

Terrible, terrible shop to go too. I had gotten my car inspected, fixed what they told me too, but when I went to get my car reinspected they somehow missed my broken mirror. Claim they need 50$ for a "custom" mirror...aka they slapped a tiny mirror inside the holder. When I went to speak to the manager he told me that unless I pay for it, I won't get my keys back. Took my vehicle at 1:30pm Saturday for an oil change. It's now 11am Easter Sunday and my truck is still there!! Nobody had the courtesy to call and say we are booked so we will have to keep it overnight!!?? They don't answer the phone when you try to call. So I went in to see what the hold up was, The guy was just pouring oil in my truck!! Nobody cared.. The service at the desk was horrible, the people obviously didn't care that we all had places to be and were not at all concerned that we had to wait that long, one of them even said "that's their problem they need to get over it" when it was mentioned to him that the wait times were obnoxiously long. I will never go to this or any other Pep Boys again, and I will spread the word that this one in particular is horrible and should be avoided at all costs!!! I've never allowed this shop to repair my cars (I always use a dealership), but the store product selection is way more impressive than any of the local Advantage, AutoZone, and O'Reilly locations I've been to. I'm not a motorsport or automotive bling-bling person, but they have shelves of equipment for those who are. Clean interior and the staff is very helpful. Whenever I'm in need of a random auto part, this place always seems to have something I can use. Once in awhile you can get a great deal on car wax or tire cleaner when they have a clearance sale. read more

I had call today to make an appointment to get my oil changed on Saturday. The person I had set an appointment with gave me an attitude since I didn't know what kind of engine my husband's car was or what type of oil change he needed. I KNOW IT WAS MY FAULT ABOUT NOT KNOWING IT, but she didn't have to give me attitude about it. My husband is unreachable due to his work and I needed to make the appointment. I could've just walked in but why would I do that? After I thanked her for helping and apologizing a complete number of times for not knowing the engine type or what type of oil it needed, she still just gave me attitude and when I got off the phone with her she just straight up and hung up on me! I called back to cancel my appointment and will be taking my service elsewhere judging from this etiquette. read more

Really bad service. I made an appointment to have a simple check engine light checked. Waited in line 10 minutes while the one guy at the counter repeated the same thing into the phone about a problem with on-line tire ordering (clearly he was talking to someone running the website). Finally in was directed to park in front of a bay... where I waited another 10 or 12 minutes until one guy asked what I needed. He was good and quick and very nice. He took care of what I needed. Meanwhile, I got an email that they were sorry I missed my appointment and would I like to reschedule. Went in for a guaranteed 30minute oil change- now 75 minutes later I'm still sitting here. Now 115 minutes later My old change is complete and I complained to the manager And he said set the appointment was made online he has no control over that - The online scheduling application set up four 9 o'clock appointments...I've never heard of someone in competent blaming a computer system for problems when technicians are strolling around coking and joking instead of doing their job... as of now, I will no longer do business with Pep Boys. read more

To get a replace rim would be a couple of hundred, so we decide to just buy a new set of rims from Pep Boys. Not only were they helpful in the transaction process, hours are convenient with my work schedule. Marvin and Brian were very helpful and pleasant, as well as Jolley made sure I was please right down to the lug nuts. I would refer anyone to this location. And believe me I will be returning. I had the WORST experience here and will never return to a Pep Boys again. First of all, they had one person working the desk when there were about six people waiting to be serviced. Other than that, everything seemed smooth with getting two tires replaced and having my car aligned. They called me TWO separate times to ask which tires I wanted replaced. I clearly stated the FRONT tires both times. Anyways, I picked up my car and it was basically undriveable due to the extreme pull to the left of my car. I had to turn around and come back. It was clear that the new tires were on the back and they had moved the tire that was warped to the front. What was the point in asking me multiple times where I wanted the tires?? Then they REFUSED to put the new tires on the front because it's "policy" to put tires with the most tread on the back. Last time I checked, that's not a law. Guess the customer is not right, and driving my highly dangerous car home is more acceptable. I then had to change all FOUR tires myself after paying over 200 dollars in 20 degree weather. We print out an online coupon for a battery, but the store refuses to honor it. They say we had to pay for it online to get that price, even though the website says nothing of the sort. So we go home and pay for it online, make an appointment to have it installed, and come back for the appointment. They have no record of the order, even though we got a confirmation email. They still refuse to give us the price. Whether they are trying to jack us out of the extra money or are just incompetent, I don't know. Either way, I'm fed up with the runaround and wasted time and am done with Pep Boys for good. There is an Auto Zone two blocks down the street. read more

I started my Saturday trying to find a place to get my state inspection done. I typically go to the Lynnhaven Pep Boys; however, after today's experience, I will drive the extra miles and have my car serviced at this Pep Boys. When I called the Pep Boys off Military Hwy, Mike answered the phone in a pleasant manner and told me to come on in! Dropped my car off quickly and received a call from Monique to let me know the inspection was complete and I just needed a light fixed. Not a problem, she gave me the price and then explained all the issues the mechanic felt I needed to get fixed. She stated he recommended I get some of the services completed at a Ford dealer which was honest and I felt fair. Next, I went to pick up my car and Monique was so awesome. She let me use the points I received from a tire purchase and she typed out every repair the mechanic recommended AND she noted the prices. It was just a great experience and I hate dealing with car stuff. They never made me feel like an idiot and answered all my questions so graciously. Monique Morris is awesome and I will def be back! I dropped my car off Saturday morning to have a gasket and brakes done ok get a call Sunday at 1 pm oh we have to order the gasket it will be here first thing Monday morning after thinking about it I called back and said I just wanted the brakes done as they were going to have to change my oil agin to do the gasket and I just had the oil done two weeks ago. It was almost 3pm and still nothing on if my car was done so I called only to be told I don't know if we have the brakes and the person who was working on my car has moved to another because the gasket would not be here till Monday umm no I told you no gasket just brakes get hung up on all because I told the butt that asked to speak to my husband that the car is mine not my husband and he will talk to me only to find out he is the so called manager I'll be finding someplace else to take my car. I was quoted one price and after them helping with Discounts, I saved a great deal of money and my car is fixed. They were so helpful and willing to aid me. I will definitely take my car again.
