I've never had a chance to stop at this location before, but I was in search of some tire mats for my garage. These stores are a little hard to find since there are only a few in Dallas. I walked in and it was pretty slow. I told the saleswoman at the front what I was looking for and she led me exactly to what I needed. I had been striking out at the other places I tried. I know I said it was slow when I walked in, but the second I was ready to check out, all 7 people in the store headed to the cashier all at once. Unfortunately, there was only one person with an open check-out because someone else was doing a product return on the other open lane. It would have been nice to open a third lane since the one guy's return was taking a while. In any case, the saleswomen offered to sign me up for their free reward card. I would have passed but she showed me the brochure that said the program offered free tire rotations, flat repair, break checks and "check engine light" evaluations. I don't know that I'll drive all the way out here for that stuff, but it can't hurt to have it (free...why not?). I can't speak to the experience of using their service department, but I'll definitely write a follow-up if I ever do. read more

Husband went here for an oil change cause they accept his Hundai maintenance certificates. Next morning we wake up, there's oil all over the garage floor. I suspect they didn't tighten something properly, because it isn't enough oil to be the whole job. So we call them up, they complain about how busy they are, but agree to let us come by. Sure enough, they find something wasn't tightened. They give my husband a hard time about how he should have just done it himself. As if we have the equipment to raise up a car at home?! They didn't re-top off the car to replace the leaked oil, very bad for the engine. read more

An appointment was set Thursday night for Sunday afternoon online for tires the location noted as available. Walked in and waited 5 min or so to an unmanned front station. Informed man that I had a 3 o'clock appointment and he (pleasant but notably already determined he wasn't going to accept my appointment) immediately said I can't do anything today because I have four in front of you. I said but I have and he cut me off and said even with an appointment because the system doesn't take into consideration that we are busy. He went on to say especially online the system doesn't let us know. Then he offered an appointment for tomorrow but then said I don't even have the tires you need, those have been discontinued. So I said forget it and walked out. Pep boys Lewisville, which is our usual place to go, is either closed or being remodeled, but we've never had this issue. It appears to be a local store issue that is not managed and is disorganized, living in the stone ages not utilizing a component of technology that is useful to those who plan ahead. I see great reviews and poor reviews for this business. Please allow me to relate my experience. First, I know a lot about cars, or more specifically most parts of cars. I just don't have the time, tools or facilities to do my own repairs anymore. Now, while I know engines, transmissions... Etc... I don't know suspensions and steering. Apparently these guys do. My 10 year old car needed an inspection which I was pretty sure was going to require new tires. Through research I found the best price on the tires I wanted at this location. During the service setup at the counter a front end alignment was offered. Not pushy salesmanship, just an offer. I decided to do it. To get to the point of this review, the expected work was performed on time with no surprises and when I drove the car away I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it drove. This is the third front end alignment I've had on this car. First two helped but this one is different. As I said, I don't know steering so I don't know what they did to make this one better but it is better. Is this better work by Pep Boys or illuminating shoddy work by the previous two shops? Can't answer that... I can say this... Fair prices, treated well, service performed as expected and on time. I'll be back. read more

Avoid at ALL costs! Pep Boys now has capability to make online appointment. Unfortunately, It means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I arrived for my oil change 10 minutes early and asked how long it would take and they said 30 minutes. 45 minutes later they hadn't started, and they had the nerve to tell me that someone came in, without an appointment, and it was taking longer than they thought. Appointments and even their word mean nothing! It was funny too since two mechanics were just standing around the service desk just shooting the breeze with the three service advisors who had no customers. (One was playing with cell phone.). Terrible, spent 1000.00 over two weeks and had truck towed in by them 3 times. Finally they called me and said they could not find the problem. I took the truck home and popped the hood. In less then 30 minutes I found the short. Interesting. It was front top wire harness Holder. I am note experienced with this stuff. Next trip. They charged me 270.00 to install 2 front rotors. 195.00 for 2 front rotors. They where replacing the front brake pads!!! And working on the front end at this time. 1,085.00 I still had to take the truck elsewhere to Have the upper control arm bushing replaced. (They replaced the control arm)!!! And mentioned it took 3 guys to do it. Over priced and incompetent. read more

Went here to get a bearing pressed out of my steering knuckle. There's some kid named Aldo or something that they call to evaluate the job. He starts throwing a fit about how they don't have the correct adapter and that the hub was going to break and I needed to buy a new one or he wouldn't attempt to press it. Ummmm ok. So after listening to this guy whine, like a 10 year old girl who didn't get a pony, I call up another Pep Boys and the guy, Steve, tells me his press isn't big enough but they have one in Dallas off of Lemmon. Reluctantly I take the 20 mile trip only to find out when I was initially told it would be $35 to press the bearing, they neglected to mention they also charge $100 in addition for 1 hour of labor. Hahahaha!!! Get the hell out of here! The guy apologized that he was sorry they didn't tell me before I came. That made it all better. If I had my own press it would take less than 5 mins to do this job. These guys are out to hustle you out of your hard earned $$$ and I wouldn't trust them to work on my lawnmower.Dishonest, misleading and generally condescending in nature, stay far, far away from these clowns. read more

This was the worst vehicle experience I've ever had. I had my vehicle towed in early this morning for some mechanical issues. They called three hours later and told me I had to get it towed again to a dealership because of the valves. No further explanation. When I arrived to get more information the kid that "helped" me said he didn't know anything about my car and had no idea what they did or what they found nor did he offer to get someone that may have known. Runs out they probably never even looked at the car. I got the car towed to Christian Brothers and they had 21 codes pulled in the first 5 minutes and noticed the oil was either burned or leaked out of the engine. I would think that any auto shop could tell me both of those things within minutes of arrival and check out. Pep Boys is completely worthless and wasted my entire day for nothing. They also did not provide any paperwork, further showing they wanted nothing to do with me or my likely thousands of dollars. Everyone I know will be made aware of this horrible experience. Dishonest store! bought 3 year alignment service for my wife. When I took her car in for alignment they told me Toyota design and built car to drift to the right so my car will still drift to the right after they performed the alignment service. Because of this they cannot help me on alignment in future suggest that I don't come back for alignment service. I also bought a 3 year alignment service for another truck last year but when I came in they insist that I don't have the 3 yr alignment package and suggest that I should buy the life time alignment package. I thought I got mix-up so i bought the lift time alignment package. but later I found the receipt of my 3 yr alignment package. I have been using this location since 2003 and I would give 5 stars but in the last few years, the service has been pushing higher cost solutions to simple problems. Only a few of the regular mechanics are still there and the only reason I still go there. They diagnose the problem and will discuss different remedies, instead of slapping you with dealership pricing. When I noted to the mechanic that alot of the old mechanics were gone, I was told that corporate had changed their pay scale for mechanics and that they now get a low scale + percentage on services rendered. Way to go corporate, great way to reward dishonest or unskilled newbies and lose customer loyalty. Take care of your Mechanics so they can take care of their customers. read more

Had an appointment for 1:30 to have nerf bar step rails installed on my truck. When I arrived at the specified time, I was told that the techs were busy and would have to wait for 3 or more hours to see if they would have time to make the installation. Today 5/6/15; Took in my car for repair(Passenger window (automatic) wasn't going up. Paid $47.43 diagnosis fee only to be told that parts and labor would cost me $457. I said not at all as I know the cost of it an estimate from anywhere between $180-280, so I told them I'd prefer to take it to the dealer. I take it to the Chrysler dealer for $457 they fixed the Window Master switch, Replaced my back right bulb & did Fuel Injection. I thought the Chryler Service Auto Dealer was going to be more expensive, I was totally wrong. Pepboys....highway robbery in broad daylight, style up otherwise you'll loose a lot of customers for over quoting. Women research this services these days before they are lied to. Had all four tires replaced - best price I found in town. When they went to align my car they discovered a damaged part in the steering linkage that was the cause to the heavy and uneven wear to my front tires. They explained everything is layman's terms and suggested ways I could save money on the repair. I did not feel like I was getting scammed. They were polite and genuine and even went to the extra effort to make sure I knew what to do to get my rebate on the tires. I will go to them for service in the future. read more

Just wanted to give the guys in the service dept. a nice review for helping us out with replacement tires. We bought some "rough terrain" tires from Pep Boys two years ago for my son's 4WD Tahoe, and these "falcon" tires barely lasted 20,000 miles (rated for 50k). No parent wants their kid driving around on bald tires with wire showing through! Although the tires were under pro-rated warranty, I didn't want that particular brand again. And, I wasn't thrilled with having to buy new tires again so soon. However, Paul, JJ and Kevin(?) were super helpful. They got us set up with some great replacement tires the very next day, at a price we could afford. And, they did a great job on the alignment, too. I had been having issues with my tires and had brought it to the VW dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong with them. But my low pressure light kept coming on. I brought my car here 45 min before they were about to close which I felt bad about. But within 20 min they had found a hole in my tire and patched it! Jesse and Robert at West Spring Creek are AWESOME! I'm from Columbus, OH and just recently relocated to Plano. Before I left, I got my car serviced by a family mechanic friend so my car was in top shape for my cross-country move. Just a few weeks after my move, my car's breaks/rotors were acting up and progressively getting louder. Just starting my new job in Plano, I didn't yet have the option to take time off of work to schedule an appointment early in the day, and other places like Firestone couldn't get me in after 5pm. Frantically, I went to the West Spring Creek Pep Boys an hour and a half before close and Jesse and Robert were extremely welcoming, patient, and promising that they could diagnose the problem that night. Their reassurance calmed my anxiety, and after checking my car out, they diagnosed warped rotors, a quick $125 fix that could be completed while I was there. Upon taking things apart, they found out that it wasn't warped rotors; that my breaks and rotors were acting up because of 2 missing bolts that could have been disastrous to my brake caliper. They came back and told me the news, and the actual problem was going to cost me the cost of the bolts, about $9. I couldn't believe it. It meant a lot to me, being a woman who has little knowledge about cars and in a new place without her dad and boyfriend's car expertise, that they were honest and fair. I always take my car to this location to get my oil changed; however, this time the service I received was absolutely the best. They changed my oil and rotated my tires quickly. It began to rain while I was waiting and when they finished they pulled my car out of the shop and backed it in a close as they could so I would not get wet getting into my car. I happened to have purchased from Pep Boys 4 Cooper touring tires. My son had a flat and I asked them to fix the tire or replace it. According to the bill they replaced the tire; but it went flat again. When I brought it back to them they plugged it and again at 2am in the morning I had to rescue him from a flat tire. All this in one month! I then took my car to my mechanic (Allison's Auto Care) where he found there were NO NEW TIRE installed since they all had the same wear tread. He told me because of the patch the tire sensor light was activated and the tire needed replacing and should have been replaced THE FIRST TIME! When I went back up to this Pep Boys to explain what had happened they told me they would get me another Cooper tire for another price; but I DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE ANYMORE AND WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM EVER AGAIN! You have to trust the people who take care of your tires or you will, like me, be caught twice with flats at ungodly hours. They have lost me as a customer and I warn others BEWARE! read more

The gentleman that helped me, Rashad, was extremely helpful and thanked me for my business after the nail was removed, even though I didn't buy anything. Stopped by because my tire pressure light was on and was just looking to help get it some air in it really quick. All of my other tires were fine so they offered to have it looked at really fast. Turns out I had a nail stuck in the tire and that was causing the air to leak pretty quick. I was wondering what was going on while they were working on the tire and it turns out they fixed the hole for me free of charge. I was given a quote of $749.99, when I balked at that to have my driver's side window repaired he said he'd work the numbers again and see what he could do. He came back with a $669.99 quote and that was the lowest he could go. He was, "Doing me a favor." So I called another place down the road and got a quote over the phone for the same work, $355. My wife was driving her car, 2004 Honda Civic, on the freeway at night when the lights started to go dim and it died. On my way to pick her up I called the roadside assistance that recommended this Pep Boys so I said for them to tow the car there and then called and said I needed a new alternator. There was no question about what the problem was. The next day I get a call that they can't start the car and that there is an alarm issue that can only be dealt with at the dealership. I told them that the problem with that is that there is no alarm in the car. They insisted so I went to pick it up, and it started right away. I walked into the shop and told them the battery was still good and they could start it, but they refused and said that they had already determined the problem and would not look at it again. I paid $100 to tow it to the dealership to have them tell me that it was the alternator. Can you call someone a mechanic when they can't even diagnose an alternator? read more

Pep Boys is just a great company, and they stand by their policies. This was my first time ever to deal with them as I was looking for new truck tires, since they had the best deal around for my size tires. I got the road hazard warranty because it gave me an even better discount off the tires, and I also opened a 0% financing CC all which was a smooth process. After the initial installation, I drove home and they seemed to be balanced very poorly. I came back in the next week for a free rebalance and they actually walked me to the back gave me some safety glasses and showed me a perfect balance on all 4 tires! Again, on the way home I noticed huge vibrations. I called back up there the next week and spoke to the store manager. Ruling out all other possible issues, the store manager was able to order me two new tires that week. My third time up there they got me in and out and this fixed all the vibration/balancing issues I had. I cant blame Pep Boys for poor tires, but what they did by giving me a new set was true customer service which seems to be lost in the car industry now a days. No matter who i dealt with when calling up there, they were always polite, courteous, and respectful always calling me sir. I highly recommend them and will go back when I need new tires again.
