I went in here to get a diagnostic for my car I was going to sell to a friend. They told me it would be $80 for them to check out my car, and they were busy that day so it would take them a few hours. About 4 hours later I get a call from them telling me all that's wrong with my car. It was a pretty expansive list, and my car wasn't worth very much to begin with. Knowing I was just going to take the car to a junk yard or something, and not have anything fixed, they gave me the diagnostic for free. Dishonest, lying thieves! Had my battery checked and was told it was bad and that I needed a new one. Had it checked at AutoZone and the battery was near prefect - 94% charged. Pep Boys are a bunch of lowly crooks. Avoid at all costs! read more

Second Chances are not always Wise!!! I had this location change a radiator out for me last year. They were priced in the same area as several other businesses and I went with Pep Boys because they are a national chain and in case i had a problem while traveling, they would be somewhat close. I left there and when I hit the highway a couple days later, my transmission would not shift into overdrive. I pulled over and checked it, no transmission fluid on the dipstick. I got to the nearest parts store and 3 quarts later, all was ok. 9 months later, not a drop low. So i know when they changed the radiator, the trans lines had to be dripping nonstop and they never checked that when they reconnected to the new radiator. I work nights, so I price service online alot. I saw a coupon for 1/2 off shock installation. I looked up the shocks for my van and did the math. The cost should have been just under $300 for shocks, installation and tax. I go there to get the work done and am quoted almost $600. I was told the online price was for carry out and instead of 2 for $98, they were $98 each and that it was because the online price was for like a warehouse delivery and not for the store. I bought all 4 shocks at OReillys for $191 plus tax and my mechanic will install for $130. I understand a business needs profits to survive, but I also know when I am being violated. I have used other Pep Boy locations with no issues, but this store will never see me again. Service your car here at your own risk!!!! read more

Went to get a battery. Had a $20 coupon from their web page. Manager Chris scanned and input sku but system rejected it. He would not override and give the coupon. Claimed the battery was a service. I pointed out the $16.99 installation fee was the "service". The web page actually showed a photo of their battery On the coupon widget! Had to call corporate (who were very nice, but 6 minutes on hold to get a human to talk to). Even after corporate said Chris had the power to honor the coupon, when he called back, he first offered $20 off a future service. After me again arguing the $20 off was already owed, he abruptly said, "come get $20" and hung up. I will gladly pay more elsewhere to avoid hassle and poor customer service. The friend with me said she had to file a complaint against them for not performing the work she went in for, yet they charged her for. Avoid this place like the plague! read more

When the battery on my 2009 Honda Fit died, I was able to find a replacement at Pep Boys (several other places did not stock them) and they were able to install it the same morning within an hour. They were pleasant on the phone when I inquired about a quote and got me back on the road as quickly as possible. read more

I come to this pep boys anytime I need service done and always ask for Chris. They are very friendly and always work with me to get the best price. He SHOWS and explains to me what the problem is and when the work is done shows me that it's fixed. read more

I had an appointment and I arrived only for them to tell me that the guy who could diagnose my car's problem left early. their website says that they'll send you an email confirming your appointment and the guy told me you had to call to confirm it. that's pure bs go to another auto repair if you want good customer service. read more

First a bit a bit me I am old, 71 next month and I drive a 94 Chevy pickup with almost 131000 miles on it. Over the past three years I have had the pleasure of dealing with the Pep Boys service bays here in Plano. Small items, tune ups oil changes that come with a truck of that age and mileage. This last Monday things got serious the radiator was leaking and the valves needed a new gasket cover etc. the service desk personal Greg manager, JJ sr advisor , I have delt with for the past three years and they are great the jobs get done and on time as estimated. However a couple of months ago I started working with Amber as my service advisor, now there is a young woman that takes her job seriously ! She actually listens when you tell her what you think the problem is and after checking it out with the mechanic brings you into the decussion and lays out your options. More importantly she keeps you informed of progress. When the job is done goes over in detail the bill. Best of all I know the job is guaranteed these PepBoys I know because I found the leak returned. I drove back today and pulled into the drive, Amber came out asked if there was a problem I told her about fresh drips under the truck she asked me to take my usual seat in the waiting room, they do need some more comfortable chairs, I walked in and started to sit and she was there saying a hose wasn't clamped tight enough but it was now. Did I mention I was old and slow and Amber is young and fast on her feet? Fixed before I got seated. Five stars not enough for these people, maybe 4 1/2 for Greg and JJ each and 6 for Amber. These guys know what they are doing. Since moving to Plano a year ago, I've received top notch service. Specifically, Alex and Ignacio have been particularly helpful on a number of occasions with information and awesome pricing. Good mechanics can be hard to come by. And 90% of people writing any kind of review can be too critical. These guys deserve more positive feedback because they are doing a killer job. Bad service. When service checked my car. I told him my car door handle is not working well and your should open the door slowly,After Service man open the door and check my car. He informed me that the brakes needed to be fixed and it would cost $850. They informed me it would take three hours but it actually took three days for them to fixed. When they called me to pick up my car the drivers side door didn't work and I couldn't open the door. I pointed this out to them when I was at the repair shop and they told me it was already broken. I explained that my door was working when I dropped it off to them. But they still charged me $150 to fix the door which work when it was left there for repair. The repair shop told me they would fix it for free when I told them the handle was broken after repair work was done. When I come back to fix my car door handle the repair services guy told me it would cost $290 to fix my car door handle that was working when I dropped it off at the shop. I purchased the part for the car handle to put my car. They were going to charge me $290 to put part on my car ,but they give me 50% off labor charge because they broke the handle on my car. Which resulted in me paying $150 for repair job that was done wrong and only took them 30 minutes. read more

They explained everything I needed well and thoroughly. They showed me the problems (cracks on belts, loose wires, what sensors were setting off the check engine light) so I could see the damage with my own eyes. I felt like they went out of their way to save me money and were completely honest about the work my car needed. I had some major issues going on with my vehicle and took it to Pep Boys in Plano for a diagnosis. The desk staff there was very friendly, professional and helpful. The mechanic that looked at my vehicle was very thorough and took the time to show and explain to me what was causing the noise I was hearing coming from the engine area. After speaking with the Automotive Repair Manager he assured me they could complete the work needed using their best technician on site and he would make sure my vehicle repairs would be completed to my satisfication. He made me feel very secure in knowing he would be personally monitoring the work being done on my vehicle and would keep me updated on the progress of my repairs. My vehicle was at the shop a couple of days longer than I expected, but as promised the Manager called me and let me know what was going on. I was relieved to know they were taking the necessary time needed to make the repairs correctly and not rushing just to get the vehicle back to me. It was a stressful time as most vehicle repairs tend to be, but the staff at this Pep Boys was very helpful and professional. The Automotive Repair Manager was extremely courteous,professional and involved throughout the whole process. I appreciated the attention I was given and the knowledge he displayed of his profession.
