Up until yesterday, 12/06/17, I was a loyal customer of the Riverview PEPBOYS. And up until them, I "Thought" they had done great work. Then came the change.. I dropped off my vehicle at the Riverview facility at 7:09am for an 11:00am scheduled oil change and tire rotation pursuant to the $49.99 Rewards Member Special. Prior to dropping off my vehicle, using a permanent marker, a dot was placed on the front passenger's side rim; 2 dots were placed on the rear passengers' side rim; 3 dots were made on the driver's side rear rim and 4 dots were placed on the driver's side front rim. At 5:40pm, (more than 10 hours later) I arrived and picked up my vehicle. After paying for my services, I proceeded to my vehicle in the parking lot and examined each rim. The markings on the rims were still the same markings which was undisputable proof that the tires had NOT been rotated per the services requested and paid for. A review of the invoice reflect that the tires were rotated, which there was undisputable evidence that this was false. I immediately returned to the lobby (without leaving the parking lot) and informed the representative, identified as Dave, of the issue. Dave examined the receipt and commented that the brakes were checked which too is very doubtful as the tires were still in the same position. I allowed for ample time for the service requested and paid for to be performed which it was not. Now I am forced to locate a shop to rotate the tires so that the tire rotation is in line with the oil change scheduled. This has caused an undue and unexpected time related upon me. On, 12/07/17, Dave, the same individual I reported the matter to called and said he spoke with the mechanic and the mechanic could not recall if he had rotated the tires. I was offered the opportunity to take my time, return to the shop so that they can rotate the tires.. WRONG. A manager has yet to contact me. I ALWAYS provided a tip for the mechanic that provides the service which goes to show that such a gratuitous gesture is ignored. This incident is unforgiveable as I now wonder what other services I have paid for that were not performed. Hence, use this facility at your own risk. Got an oil change from this location the beginning of September, charged $69. On January 1st my car broke down from having absolutely zero oil in it. I called to complain and was told there is no way that's their fault and was yelled at by a man named mike who claimed they have zero responsibility for my car having 0 oil three months after an oil change. Will never be back and will tell everyone i come in contact with about their awful customer service and shotty business. Did not even get an apology or any sort of solution. Just got yelled at and told they have nothing to do with my problems. read more

EXTREMELY disappointed with this pep boys. I took my car in in September of 2016 to have a lot of work done (700$ to be exact) to have a control arm changed and 4 brand new tires (THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE WARRANTY). I came two months later to have one of them replaced (was only charged labor) and an alignment done. (Another $115). My tire recently popped and now they want to charge me $250 to have two tires (that are supposed to have warranty) and an alignment done. The guy said the warranty doesn't cover my tires and I asked why don't they tell their customers that when they purchase the "warranty" and his excuse was that it's in the paper work and if they explained it to everyone they would only see a few customer a day. I'll make sure I won't be one of the customers they see in that day and I'll make sure to take my business elsewhere. read more

I called for a brake pad quote and they gave me quotes on several types of brake pads, the differences between them, and a pro/ con on each. I saved over $100 vs. going to the dealer. None of the other local service centers took the time to explain all these differences to me. I am very satisfied with the work and will be back for more. read more

I used their app to make an appointment, and when I got there they said that they saw the appointment come through, and that they were too busy to call me to tell me that they couldn't honor the appointment. So using their app to make an appointment does not assure that you have an appointment, and if they are too busy to call you, they will allow you to drive all the way out there just tell you you don't have an appointment. read more

I verified their appointment availability online and drove 20 minutes in the middle of a storm to get an oil change. When I got there, the service manager told me they were full for the rest of the day. I asked him why their website told me they had multiple appointments available and said the website didn't matter. I insisted that it was not adequate to treat a customer in such a way, specially considering the conditions under which I drove to the location. He angrily responded that he didn't give a damn if went and booked 10 appointments online and that he would not service my car, period. He then walked away into the service bay and left me standing at the service counter with my appointment in my hand. I always thought Pep Boys had a great reputation, and it is the reason why I chose to visit this store so far from home. They where vary helpfull and just didn't tell me what was wrong with my car, but showed me. So, I felt empowered on what was really wrong with my car. Will tell everyone about them!!! Ordered tires online, set appointment online. Order was processed, tires reserved for that store. Arrived with vehicle ten minutes early for appointment, turned over keys. That's where it all started to o south. Christian had issues with the online ticket once he found it. Spent 36 minutes watching the vehicle NOT move from where I left it in the parking lot. Christian got into driver's seat, got right back out. More issues with the ticket at the counter, asked if there was a problem- " we only have 1 tire." My issues- Order was for an installation of 4 tires and you failed to make sure the tires were onsite, you failed to inform customer of the delay once you found out you were missing 3 tires. I demanded my keys back and cancellation of the order. Christian, manager and service tech all failed to apologize for wasting my time. That's a $900 mistake on your part. Called PB customer care, young lady on other end apologized, offered to find the tires in my area in stock and ready to install. I declined. She said this is an ongoing problem for them. So often people dread going to a auto shop to talk with a salesman and mechanic. My brother was a mechanic for many years and one of guys people could trust. When I lost him to cancer 7 years ago I thought I would never find a shop or guys that would care again when working on my car or dealing with a tight budget. Well today that all changed for me. Evan in the office did a nice job but the person that impressed me the most was Jon the mechanic that took the time to show me things on the car and explain what was going on and let me know what needed to be done now and what could wait just a little while longer until my finances were not so tight. He worked with the sales guy to get me quality products to resolve my issues at a fair price and did all he could to shave off the cost including labor time. I know Pep Boys is a chain, but these guys treated me as if it was their own shop and really cared about the situation and doing what was right for me. I cannot thank Jon and Evan enough. Most reviews are complaints and I get that but today I had to take the time to write and let others know that at this shop, if you ask for Evan and Jon, they will treat you right and do seem to care! My experience with this location has been good. I have had basic services done to a Ford, such as shocks, struts, tire service, and oil changes. Prices were fair and service done in time promised. I don't know that I would take a complex problem to "retail" shop. My opinion is you are better off finding a mechanic who specializes or going to the dealer. In any case, I am pleased with Pep Boys so far. Most complaints about this location seem to be wait time related or just general rants. I have not had a problem with wait time and have had no rant worthy experiences. They have a courtesy shuttle, but I wouldn't expect a ride to the next county. Nobody does that, so why complain about it? read more

Tonight I must have hit a nail and it punctured my tire... I was losing air quickly with my daughter in the car. I quickly called this location and explained my situation and was urged to come in immediately. I got there and 15 minutes later I was being handed my key to a repaired tire! When I went to the counter to pay the gentleman behind the counter told me it was on them! I was having the worst night and this kind man turned it all around and got me home safely! I can't thank him enough and I am happy to say I will be returning this weekend for an oil change and in the future for all repairs on my vehicle! There's a lot of people out there that write negative reviews out of spite. I'm not one of them and this is my honest and sincere review. I've had this store location do Oil Changes/Tire Rotations before, never had an issue. Staff was always courteous and got me in and out in a reasonable manner. All that changed recently, when a mechanic told me about a bad Motor Mount on my vehicle. I asked how long would it take to replace. I was told between 5 - 10 minutes and its so easy that they wouldn't charge me for labor. I then asked how much is the part. Store clerk said he'd get back to me and when he does he told me he can only get the part from the dealer and that it is $195 after taxes, plus synthetic oil change come to a total of $256. I was shocked, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. A few minutes passed and the work was done. I still couldn't believe the price....so I woke up and searched the part online. $63. I called the dealer. Asked how much is the part. $75. When I raised my voice at him as to why did he inflate the price by so much....his answer was "I have to pay my mechanics". Think that's bad? Wait until you get a load of this. That was just the tip of the ice berg my friends. The mechanic twisted a main support to the suspension of my vehicle in order to be able to get a nut out that held the motor mount in place. He then twisted the piece back and in the process scratched up a huge area inside the motor area. It was hideous. They never bothered to tell me about this either. I discovered the metal carnage after I got home and popped the hood to see why was that part so expensive. Surely, hell was raised and there was a huge price to pay for it. They provided me with a rental while my vehicle was taken to a body shop at their expense to repair the damages done and I will be getting a full refund. Spare yourself from this nightmare. Unless you drive a beater that you could care less for...then sure, take it to PepBoys. read more
