MAVIS TIRE AND BRAKE What a way to start the day. When I started my car to go get groceries, the dreaded light on the dash board indicated service was needed on the engine. Not knowing was service is needed we all trust this decision to the mechanic who will service our vehicle and hope for the best. I took my car to Mavis Tire and Brake located on 4961 State Road 674 in Wimauma, FL, and waited for what the inspection would reveal. What a great surprise. The call from the manager informed me that a loose gas cap was responsible for the warning light and there was no charge for tightening the cap. The shop has certified mechanics but Gabriel who inspected the car noticed the loose cap during his inspection. He is a professional who has proved his skills even on other occasions went He stated that with so many choices for car service, his manager, Carlos want's to insure that customers keep coming back. From time to time they run specials on oil changes and tires that are below most other locations. Free air is a nice touch if that's all you need.They can handle most car service and it is nice to know that their work, price and service are hard to beat. read more

Wouldn't recommend bringing any vehicle with a manual transmission, before even agreeing I specifically asked if anyone knew how to drive a manual. I returned to somebody attempting to drive my truck without disengaging the parking brake, after the parking brake was finally let loose he continued to dump the clutch and buck my truck across the parking lot like he was in a rodeo. I approached my truck and told the man not to rev the vehicle up and dump the clutch cause he was damaging my transmission and he continued to do the same thing. read more

I had a tire get ripped and made an appointment for 12pm the next day. When making the appointment, it showed 3 types of tires in stock at this store. I made the appointment and recieved 2 emails no later than 10 min after. The first email was saying that the store needs to confirm the appointment and the second email was stating that the store confirmed it. The next day, I drove my car to the shop and walked in to give them my key. I told the sales rep in the front my appointment time and where my car was parked and she then asked me what type of car I drove and confirmed the tire size. I had no issues signing in and then went next door to eat lunch and do some work while I waited. I get a call an hour and 20 min later from the sales rep stating that I needed to come get my car because they had no tires availiable in my size... I asked her how that was possible when the website stated that they had 3 different types availiable and she responddd with "ya, sometimes the website says that we do have them. But we really don't." I asked when they would and she said she can get some ordered to be delivered Sunday and that I can just "drop my car off anytime on Sunday". I told her I wanted to make an appointment so I don't get turned away and had her put me down for 2pm on Sunday and told her I would be there soon. When I got back to the shop, she was in the Bay Area unloading tires and they had some mechanics up front. I told them my name and car type and they were unable to locate my key. One of the mechanics went to the Bay Area to ask the sales rep and you could tell by her demeanor that she clearly did not know nor cared to help them find it (they asked her twice). They finally located my key and one of the reps tried to ring me up. I told him nothing was done on my car so I would not pay. Come Sunday and I dropped off my car once again. When I walked in, I told the sales rep (a different woman) my name and appt time. Upon first look, she stated that she could not find my reservation and asked if I was at the wrong store. I told her what happened Friday and she eventually found my reservation. I confirmed that they did have the tires and left with my husband. When I was called back to pick up my car I paid and went home. When I arrived home, I looked at my receipt and noticed that the tire price was not what was advertised online (online: $99, I paid: $109). I realize this was my fault and decided it was not worth dealing with. I will say is that I will never go to this store again. The staff is unorganized and does not take the time to update the site nor confirm that the tires are availiable before confirming the appointment. Even if they do not have the bandwidth tho do that, they could have confirmed upon my arrival and it would have not been an issue. Instead it took them over an hour to realize it. There is also 2 other stores very close that they could have gone to retrieve the tires if they were availiable since the appointment was already confirmed. Many of us do not have the time nor luxury of taking a day off to play these games. The staff had 2 chances to notice that they did not have tired in stock. I was lucky enough that I was able to telework for the day since I had no appointments. I would advise the store owners and managers to better inventory their stock to avoid things like this in the future. read more

Yea last time coming here. 1st time $250 for tire & now I came for oil change and they consistently try to up sale me for 2 new tires. After I said no the 1st time, leave it. It's not in my budget. It took me some time to write this review because I wanted to give Mavis the opportunity to correct the issue instead of brushing me off like I didn't matter. I brought two different vehicles to this location for brake repairs. * My Lexus 2010 ES350 was serviced with no issues. * My Lexus 2007 LS460, however, was a completely different experience. During the repair on my LS460, they broke my brake sensors and only mentioned it when I came to pick up the car. When I asked if the sensors had been replaced, I was first told they believed so, which is completely unacceptable. After more questioning, they then said the sensors were replaced. About 3 1/2 weeks later, my ABS warning light came on, flashing messages across the dashboard saying "Pull over - brake malfunction - take vehicle to dealership." I returned to Mavis, and they claimed there was no way they could have caused the issue. I asked whether they properly bled the brake system during the repair, and they said yes. However, that makes no sense because my brake pedal was extremely hard to press, which indicates a serious issue. I later found out that my brake actuator and brake booster system were completely destroyed. This place refused to take responsibility, and now my car is severely damaged. I was ripped off, and I will never recommend this location to anyone. read more

A little overdue. I visited this location (without an appointment) and asked for a minor issue - the transmission dust cover came loose under my truck. I knew it was a simple fix, but didn't expect them to do it right away. Before we could get the paperwork completed, the technician pulled my truck in the bay and completed the repair. As I was checking out, I asked if they had a military discount: He said "yes", handed me my keys and said "thanks for your service". Completely fucked me. I paid 109 dollars for a oil change and they did not put the cap for my oil filter housing back on and also used the wrong screws for my plastic cover when they put it back on and they put way too much oil into my car and now there is a oily sludge covering my plastic cover as well as all over under my car. Avoid this place at all cost. Brought my car here to have a damaged tire repaired. I also had to have a number of other things fixed. I picked up the car and go down the road and can't even control the car. It was swerving and weaving all over the place. Also there were idiot lights on all over the dash which means no one took the car out for a test ride and no one even look at the dash to make sure everything was correct. I brought the car back and explained what was going on and my concerns and how upset I was the manager at the place told me it was not his problem. I asked who worked on the car and he could even answer that question I'm like are you kidding me? You don't know who worked on my car I left it there for them to work on the car. They finally fixed it the correct way this time you would think that they would apologize offer some money back or something but no, they blew it off like it was no big deal. I have used Mavis before on a car and a van and love the tires I bought. So I went in for tires on my jeep grand Cherokee and decided to get the step down because it was a softer tire and I drive a lot. They were the worst tires for my vehicle. I would slide all over in any kind of wet weather and turns in dry conditions were scary. I delt with Linda for the sale and she said I should talk to Johnathan the manager. I only had the tires for 2 weeks, and he was very understanding, and upgraded to the tires I got on the other vehicles for a small difference in price. That is the kind of customer service that we should expect from a business. read more

The team and Mavis performed and very thorough inspection of my vehicle when I requested a break check. They let me know that I had many months worth of break pad available and didn't need to perform the maintenance just yet. Other shops would have pushed service where it wasn't needed. I would give them a 0 star if I could. I call on Saturday to see if I can make an appointment for Sunday and Linda told me that it's pretty slow on Sunday to just drop by. I went ahead and make an appointment anyway because I didn't want to wait. Our appointment was at 10am. We were told it's going to be a 2 hour wait because they were under staff. 2 hours went by. We walked back to the shop and just to be told. We haven't touch your car yet and I don't know when because we're behind. Thus is B S!!!! Wasted my Sunday!!!! I had high hopes of getting my brake pads replaced at a good rate so I made an appointment on a Wednesday for Friday morning. After looking at my vehicle, I was told that they didn't have brake pads that fit, and it would be a couple of hours before they could get them! So I requested a call when they arrived and went home extremely disappointed.... boy was I wrong. So HOURS passed and I had to call them back! They said they're in route, why not call me with a new time so I can already be waiting when they get there???? INCOMPETENCE. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE... BUT WAIT IT GETS WAY WORSE! So I get a call 30 minutes before they close saying they have my pads but NO TECH AVAILABLE TO PUT THEM ON! So they told me to come back Saturday, it's 1st come 1st served. I return Saturday after wasting my entire Friday morning and they get to my vehicle within 30 minutes.... what a relief... Finally right?....... WRONG!!! They tell me they were sent the wrong pads for my rear calipers!!!! So either they were negligent in giving the warehouse the RIGHT PART # or they ASSUMED they were the same!!!! So as of now I'M COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED, NO ONE HAS YET TO ISSUE ANY KIND OF APOLOGY AND I SEE YET ANOTHER MORNING WASTED AWAY ON A SIMPLE PAD REPLACEMENT!!! My wife and I took our car to the new Mavis Tire around the corner from us and we asked for a basic oil change. When we went to pay and pick it up the bill was nearly $100.00. When asked why, they said the "car" told them it needed a Full Synthetic oil change. The car has never had one, not even from the dealer. They took of a $10.00 coupon and offered $20.00 off another car we took them. We will never take a car to them. They were dismissive and not helpful. Don't understand why businesses try to take advantage of people, especially this time of year. We will NEVER go back. Be careful if you do! read more

I've never had an issue with this location. I made a reservation online for service. I received an email with confirmation and service order number. I arrived at the desk and inform the service rep I have an appt and show my reservation number. Then I'm told his system cancelled my reservation and that the service I needed completed probably wouldn't be completed that night. Might not be a big deal for them, but it was to me. Due to the error in their system, I'm SOL and left to find the service I needed last minute when most shops are closing up. Won't be back due to the fact I can't trust they'll honor my reservation. read more

Service nightmare. Avoid this place!!! If you don't want to waste your time or money, AVOID THIS PLACE! I made an appointment at 9 am this morning, and when I walk into the shop, the front desk man was cursing a customer over the phone. After listening to him cursing the customer, I am already a little scared. I told him I have an 9 AM appointment for a wheel alignment, and he said they could not do it because they are over booked now. WOW you turned down customers. Then I said I already have an appointment, and he said he doesn't care, and it's my fault to not call them in advance even I made an appointment online. HOW RUDE!!! I don't want to get yelled at, so I walked away. There is a big sign of "LABOR FEE IS $140 PER HOUR" behind the front desk. I guess that means they scammed a bunch people and people are not happy with them so they put that on to show they are not doing anything wrong. SCARY PLACE! Yeah, avoid this place. Well I am back again. I had the water pump and the serpentine go out on my 06 Dodge diesel. This Mavis location is one of the very few places that has a big enough lift rack for the diesel. Always get good service on 2 vehicles. Nice that I'm not spoken to like I don't know what I'm talking about. I was previously a service advisor for 16.5 years on high end cars. My expectation of service is quite high. Everyone that I've dealt with in the Riverview location has been professional and up front. Pricing is comparable to other facilities around here, except you get better service at Mavis than the rest around here. I went in today because my abs brake light was on and i just needed to know what my options were on this issue. They looked at it pretty quickly early in the AM. I was very happy with them helping me with this issue. I got a quick diagnosis and even though i have to go to the dealer for the issue... they helped me fast and courteously. My wife was struggling with her tire one day last month and she stopped and one of the men working on a car stopped and helped her fill up her tire and determine there was a slow leak... they didnt have to do that but they went out of their way. When my car needed some TLC I started my online research. I was dreading trying to find a reputable honest mechanic but was lucky enough to come across Mavis. They got me in quickly, had affordable pricing and detailed out all their suggestions letting me know which were imperative and why they were. I felt like I was getting an honest opinion and didn't hesitate to let them begin. After picking my car up it was making an odd noise the next day and they had me come right back in and just had to align something that had shifted. It quick, easy and most of all I felt like I found a needle in a haystack when it comes to a trustworthy mechanic. I highly recommend using them if you need anything done, even just an oil change. And it helps that there is plenty of shopping and food nearby should you have to wait a little bit. read more

Waited for two hours to get alignment done. After alignment the car drives the same as it did before. Had to schedule another appointment to have them redo the alignment. After another long wait and second alignment, car drives worse than it did before. I will never use Mavis ever again. read more
