Terrible costumer service. Not only did they order the wrong tire for my truck and put it on, I had to come in 5 separate times to get a refund and still don't have the right tire. I had to go to a different tire shop to get that one taken off because even when I came in when they told me to they would say their too busy and to come in a different day. WOW! I reached out to their customer service CORPORATE office. The person that called me today was sooooo rude. It's remarkable. He was arguing with me!!!  I have been in marketing for 15 years and have never seen anything like this! I explained to him that my daughter did not have the understanding that looking at the door handle was NOT complimentary as it says on the invoice.  That person that called sounded like he was not sure what he was doing. After spending $3,000 for oil pan, oil changes (one they charged me for, but didn't do and that was found out through their Hemet store), radiator, anti-freeze container, hoses and Pep Boys telling me to fix everything except my engine (on top of running a diagnostic on my engine).. I'm now have to rebuild my engine for over $12,000. Pep Boys Temecula is rude and dishonest. Mechanics can be really dishonest and they're a scam... I haven't found one reliable and willing to take responsibility. yeah, yeah, yeah do it myself... but when I fork up that much money I expect my vehicle to run well. Pep Boys company should be investigated, just like Jiffy Lube went through. I will never use Pep Boys again and will advise against using them to anyone. Car feels great! I can't remember his name, but the guy I talked to in the lobby about all this was professional, cordial, and clear. I am always satisfied with Pep Boys help in checking the running condition, fluids, tire pressure but KEVIN at this Pep Boys was Outstanding. Kevin was very courteous, prompt and helpful. He checked all my fluids ( even using a flashlight to check the color of one of my fluids... a first ) Kevin checked my tire pressure and gave me a fair quote for a new pair of tires. He gave me helpful advice to avoid potholes with the older worn tires till I can get the new ones. If you want honest fair price quotes, fast and courteous service I highly recommend you visit this local small Pep Boys shop and I hope you are fortunate enough to get Kevin to help you. Needed an alternator so I went to the Temecula Pep Boys. I told the guy behind the parts counter that I needed an alternator for a 455 Oldsmobile. His reply, "What's that? Is that a car?" I explained to him that it is a car, with a 455 C.I.D. engine. He then asks, "Who makes it?" I explained the GM made the car. He replies, "Is that like GMC? How do you spell Oldsmobile?" Needless to say that I didn't get an alternator. Not even sure he knew what an alternator was. Brick and mortar stores are struggling and it's no wonder why. This was this guy's job. Best experience on a bad day! Lets start with the fact my car was totaled a few weeks back and was using a rental, on the way to work a tire went low and the sensor was on the dash. I called the rental company hoping to grab another car and dash of (slowly crawl ) to LA for a business meeting. I urge everyone reading this to not come to this Pep Boys in particular. The service is very slow and the staff in front are unreliable. They are overpriced, which is expected, but they are over priced from the dealership! That's ridiculous. They diagnosed my car, I disagreed with what was presented to me and took my car to the dealership, surely enough, Pep Boys was wrong and would have had me pay upwards of 2K to fix a problem that was never even there. The staff is friendly, but lack good costumer service when not in person. If you want to use them, try to stick with the basic services like oil changes. read more

Let me be up front about my contact with this Pep Boys: I had my battery checked because my wife's car was getting hard to start. They did no other service than that and it was at no charge. They tested the battery and gave me a printout of the condition. Since my wife's car was hard to start I wanted to know why and was told the starter was beginning to fail and should have it replaced soon. I drove the car a few more days and before a long trip when it almost didn't start at all I made an appointment at a shop I have done business before and have confidence in. So, Pep Boys was RIGHT. I DID need a new starter. They are "A-OK" because they gave me the straight dope. Can't say more because that was extent of my interaction with them. read more

I was in the market for a step side added to my truck. They ordered the wrong one after two week waiting. Then they reordered and tried to install the first one that didn't fit again. Finally their salesman figured out the service installers error and they got the right one to install. All in all it took four trips from the first time I ordered the steps to finally picking up my truck which they had to keep overnight the final install because they got "backed up" on work load. I would not recommend this Pep Boys on Winchester, Temecula, to anyone. The ordering and service was very amateur and timely. I have done business with Pep Boys since 1976. More often than not I buy my motor oil and filters from them. Since they sell oil to do-it-yourself mechanics, they collect used oil for recycling. This is a good program to help clean up the environment, and they get PR mileage out of that effort. So I went out of my way to take my used oil back to this Pep Boys on Jefferson today. The young lady at the checkout directed me to the parts counter in the rear of the store. However after walking back there, the parts guy pointed back to the front of the store and said "take it to service." Strike one. So he takes my oil from me and I think I'm done, but he says I have to "sign something," OK, so I follow him back to the front where the services desks are located. One of the individuals there informs part counter guy that they "are full" and therefore cannot accept my old oil. Some other employees says "when are they coming to empty it?" and someone replied "later today." So I said, OK, can you just take my used oil and then dump it in the tank after your tank is emptied? NO, was the answer, "that would be illegal." They did say you can take it to Autozone up the street. So I went to Autozone, they said "used oil?" I said "yes" and they said "just leave it on the counter, have a great day." No form to fill out, no wait, and no BS. And I was out of there. So I'm done with Pep Boys in Temecula. From now on I'm taking my business to Autozone or my favorite auto parts place, Orange Engine in Dana Point. read more
