I took my car to this pep boys location today about 10am today First of all We were in line waiting for 20 minutes when just one person was front of us and then the guy (vartan) called on us when my boyfriend was talking to him I started talking to my boyfriend in my language and he suddenly changed his attitude and was so rude, impolite and what ever I asking him about my car he was so rude and talked to me like shut up and finally we decided to not to change tires and fixed my engine and other stuff cause he said 2 hours and I just told him to fix Windshield's wiper and check the car that why check engine's light is on And like after 4 hours hearing nothing from him, We went over there and even my car didn't get moved in shop and I asked him he said 1 hour more with bad attitude and all the time I was talking to him outside next to my car just rude and ignored me I told him give my key back after 4 hours and still on hour more? People don't go to this guy (VARTAN) he is racist and prejudice and don't talk front of him in your language with your friends and family just don't let him find out where are you from, cause he is going to be so rude ignorant and unprofessional and messed up your day off without getting your car fixed I never ever go back to this pep Boys shop again and I hope nothing is not going to happen to my tires and me until next week and my next day off that I take my car to another place It was very bad experience and very unprofessional place read more

F*** these assholes! While out driving my back right tire pressure was low. I pulled up and two guys looked at me then totally ignored me! They went inside the building then came back out looked at me again, and ignored me. I even waved to the guy for help, still ignored me. I drive over to Costco. Dan came right up to me and gladly checked all tires and replaced air immediately, no waiting. I'll never give these guys any business, and to make sure none of my friends do either!!!! Service & Tire department manager is never here. I was tossed back and forth for the last week over a simple Michelin tire warranty claim that any employee should be able to perform. Their response is always, "Yeah only the manager knows how to do it she'll be in tomorrow." Well here I am, 3 days later and the "manager" never showed up to work any of those days. Ill try to keep it short and sweet. Went in to have 2 rear tires installed. They were delivered here from TireRack. -Long wait time to check in. Incompetent staff at the counter. (Took 10min to find my tires that were sitting on the rack behind him) -Acceptable service time. -One of the directional tires was put on backwards. This was noticed later when I went to prep my car for the race track. -scratched wheel, but I understand since I have painted wheels and they have cheap equipment. -30min of refusal to fix their mistake because it was almost closing time and they'd get in trouble for keeping anyone late. (I had a track day the next morning, this needed to be done that day) -one employee finally stepped up and switched the tire. - that $200 tire now has multiple damage bubbles in the sidewall and will need to be replaced. Long story short. They're not even worth going to them to have them fix their own mistakes. read more

I had issues with my car making a terribly loud squeaking sound. I brought it to ANOTHER Pep Boys for them to fix it. I changed my front/rear brakes and still had the issue. I was told it's my axle. I changed that and still the sound persisted. I went back and they shaved something down and still had the sound. I had enough. I was going to go to the dealership but instead I said let me try my luck at another Pep Boys. I went in prior to speak to someone and Kaitlyn kindly took my questions and reassured me they can find the issue. I brought my car in a week later, it was quickly assessed and the problem was found instantly. I no longer have a squeaking sound. Pep Boys - Maintenance needed after maintenance. Lol - Auto Repair Near Me - Van Nuys, California

I saw the TWO STAR rating and still I called to make an "appointment" for a simple oil change and free tire rotation. When I originally called to make my appointment time, I was told that there weren't many other appointments and my car should be in and out within an hour. I arrived 20 min early hoping that I could get in a few min early, and after waiting another 30 min past my appointment time my car is still parked in the lot. I've now been waiting almost an hour, and when I inquired when they would be starting, they tell me it's going to be another 30 min till my car is called up and another 45 minutes till it would be serviced and completed. No no no. I can roll my car into SEVERAL auto shops in the valley that will do it on the spot and for the same rates. Probably lower. I now know that their appointments are just forecasting lists so management knows how many oil changes, etc they will be doing. Nobody had any intention of keeping to a schedule. If I could give this shop a Half Star I would. Never again. read more

If I could give zero I would!! This is the most horrendous place to go and get your car serviced, I had my car towed here on 8/13/2020 and I was treated in the worst way possible. Staff was indifferent to my needs , didn't want to be bothered and virtually was just wanting us to go elsewhere, I was additionally inconvenienced since I had to have car re-towed. What a shame that my first review on Yelp has to be a negative one. I made an appointment with Israel for a tire rotation at the physical location for the following day. When I showed up at 10:45 for an 11:00 appointment - a full fifteen minutes early - I was told they had no record of my appointment, despite me making it in person. I was told it was no problem, that they were finishing up with some other cars, and that it would be about 30-40 minutes. No worries, I said, and I wandered around the neighborhood for a while. At 11:20 I returned and proceeded to wait until NOON, whereupon I checked in the parking lot and THEY HADN'T EVEN MOVED MY CAR OUT OF THE SPOT. I asked George when they would start, he said they were finishing up a patch and would start on my car momentarily. I then had to wait nearly another TWENTY FIVE MINUTES for them to finish. And when George handed me back my keys was there any sense of contrition or remorse? Any, "Hey man, I'm really sorry about the wait"? No, of course not! No apology, not even a real acknowledgment that I had just waited AN HOUR AND FORTY FIVE MINUTES for a damn tire rotation. And look, I get that it's free. It's nice that Pep Boys offers a free service like this to get people in the door to buy tires. But guess what location I'm never returning to because they couldn't do something as simple as entering information into a computer and then following through with it? If you guessed this Pep Boys, you'd be right! So listen to the other reviews. Avoid this place like the plague. Avoid it like it's your creepy uncle at a family reunion. I visited this store to find a headlight for my car. I was quoted $75 to $240 for the light plus service depending on the type of headlight bulb. The price seemed high to me so I asked and was told that the bulb alone cost $100. I left the store, went to another store and bought the bulb that I needed for $35 dollars. It took me ten minutes to change and no tools were required. Check YouTube before you get any service from this store. read more

My first time as a Pep Boys customer and the experience was terrific. I needed a replacement for my failing Prius battery on a busy Saturday. Paulette quickly located a battery (since one was not in stock), called me to bring my car in when the battery arrived at their location, and the entire job was completed faster than the time estimate given. Paulette's customer service skills, follow-through, and diligence get an A+! I am very happy with my experience here and would happily return again. The service guy came up w all sort of excuses and even told me to go to another pepboys to get them installed. Quick advise to management: if installing smaller items and accessories is not worth your time, then maybe you should remove "free installation" for these parts from your site. Absolutely an unprofessional, unorganized and unethical corporate and business model. This review is not just for this location, it's also for their online website. I had couple of bad experience with this specific location and their unethical approach to the customers. whatever they advertise for services is false. The cost of services is not what they quoted you online. They won't honor their coupons and eventually will find a way to rip you off. Last week I was looking for a air filter for one of my car and as always they have a deceptive offer in their website. I went to the store and after waiting for a long time to find someone to get help, they told me that this is a online deal and it must be ordering online. Well, I did and received a confirmation that they got my order and they items will be ready for pick up the next day, and they will send me an ready to pick up email. I waited for 3 days and I haven't received notifications. I went to the store and a clerk who was really friendly and helpful, told me the item never shipped out because they were out of stock! Just had a great experience with Alfonso of the parts department here. Went to drive my Jeep over the weekend and the battery died. Finally got it jumped today, and gave Pep Boys a call. Alfonso answered immediately, found the battery I needed, and helped (by doing it all) install it in the parking lot! I was in and out in 20-ish minutes, and couldn't have had a better experience!! What an awful experience. I came as an emergency with a torn tire. The manager sal Rodriguez helped me out. He was ok in attitude but the price is outrageous for the service they provide. I waited over 2 hours to fix one tire that takes 10 minutes to put. Not only that 3 people came after me and left before me. No courtesy of nothing of anything not an apology nothing. I wish I would've been told it was gonna take over 2 hours to go get me something to eat. How stressful this was an irritating. I work in the business industry and will absolutely make sure all my customers and employees know how awful and expensive pep boys is. I will never ever return nor go to any pep boys. Got a text while waiting in line to be helped by Michael that my appointment had be deleted and had to be rescheduled because they were full already. Charged me 61 dollars to remove two 10 year old, easily removed wheel locks with a 15 dollar tool they have on hand in 2 minutes . On the good side they gave me two chrome lug nuts for the two they removed free ( would have cost a couple dollars) . Do yourself a favor and get the 15 dollar tool and remove it yourself. read more

Dealt with a flat on my way to the Pep Boys location. Called for a Pep Boys tow service at 1pm and received an ETA of 2:05pm. I call the tow company and found out that Pep Boys had accepted an ETA of 2:25pm without communicating it to me. I call Pep Boys at 2:30pm and the representative said that the national average delay was between 60 mins - 90 mins, as if to imply I should be grateful for a 30 mins delay. When I explained that the tow company wasn't responding nor provided an update, Sherry explained it was expected for them to not communicate. It's now 2:57pm. My tank has been on E but I can't turn off my car cause it's hot AF in LA right now. I'm still without a tow. So ... Yeah. Thanks? read more

I got my front brakes serviced and they came back making more noise than before they told me I need a brake hardware kit that I know comes included with the brake pads. I asked what this so called brake "kit" I need consists of and their response was its a kit and they don't have a picture to show me. The guy said it's not the retainer but showed me an image of something that he says is similar to the kit which guess what it was a retainer. The staff here is unprofessional and don't know their way around a car. Please hire a new service manager I see bad reviews about him besides mine. Too bad my car is leased and I can't perform the brake job myself because the dealership requires an ASE certified shop with a receipt. Avoid taking your car here. read more

I bought windshield wipers today and the guy at the register was extremely helpful (I would give him 5 stars). He took the time to help me find the ones I needed. It started sprinkling and he informed me they can install them for me in service. I went to service stood there waiting for help for 20 minutes outside while it started to sprinkle harder and harder into rain. 2 of the workers saw me and kept walking pass me even when I said "excuse me". My car engine light came on, and I brought it in this location yesterday. I have a 2013 VW Beetle with an extended warranty through Silver Rock. This was one of their preferred locations. They asked if it was Diesel while getting all the information for my car, and I said yes. They take the car back after telling me there was only one technician working, so it would likely be a while. Totally understandable. Finally, after 3 hours of sitting there, they tell me there is a recall on my car and gave me papers regarding this. I take it to the dealership right away, who tells me as a matter of fact there IS NO recall on the car. When looking at the papers PepBoys gave me, they showed that those were not even for my car. So, I call Pep Boys as I'm driving back, and the guy on the phone was incredibly rude and said it wasn't his problem, and if I wanted to bring it back there, that was my choice. When I get there, they tell me all of a sudden that they can't help with diesel cars. If you can't do something, say so before someone spends hours waiting for you to help them with an issue. Waste of my time, incredibly rude service, and I will absolutely be making sure to tell everyone I can about this experience. read more

I was calling all morning to get through to JOSE, THE MANAGER. He never took my call and HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I was left on hold for 20 minutes and no one ever got back to me. My wife went to this Pepboys location yesterday because our car belt snapped and needed to be replaced. The Pep Boy mechanic told her that there were other things that was wrong with the car so the original price will be to throw three times more then expected. we were told that the pulley and the pump was also damaged and need to be replaced and it will cause around 800 through $1,300. keep in mind we were only planning to get the belt replaced since that's the only thing that was WRONG WITH THE CAR. so apparently the mechanic was trying to take advantage of my wife because she was a female trying to get the car fixed we end up taking the car to another mechanic and the only thing that was wrong was the belt and nothing else. As soon as I walked in, they were very helpful. I told the one guy. "I have no idea what I need, but don't try to sell me the most expensive one just cuz I'm a skirt!" He laughed and I smiled and he then took my car's info and directed me to the blades where he gave me a choice of two kinds. I went with the more expensive one since we were only talkin' about $2 more and he even walked out with me IN THE RAIN and installed it for me. When we asked the mechanic he said "I have a lot of work to do before we close, I could definitely sell you the battery and let you borrow the tools to install it yourself, if you know how to do it." Never going back to this place again. Besides the usual over charging and wait times, the quality of the customer service and the competence level of the employees is astonishing. Went in for a simple battery replacement with my mom and first we had to deal with a girl who did not know how to use a computer. She pulled up batteries that were compatible with the car and when we said the cheapest one please, she said she needed to see which battery the car had first. Why would you need to do that if those batteries are considered compatible? The girl says it's because some might be wider or taller. Then when my mom asked for the dimensions of the batteries she goes "it doesn't tell me" so my mom said how about you click on "more" and sure enough there were the dimensions. The dimensions were literally one millimeter different. So we said give us the cheapest one. But this girl insisted on checking the battery we had in the car so my mom said "okay do you need help opening the hood, it's tricky?" And she said no. Then we watched her attempt to open the hood and have to ask for additional assistance. It took like 20 min. So finally we decide on a battery (the cheapest one) and she says it'll take an hour. My mom gave her a number to text because the phone on file was at home and the girl says "I don't think we can text." BUT IT WAS RIGHT THERE ON THE SCREEN it said call, email or text.. so my mom points this out and tells her to text. We leave for like an hour to eat dinner and when we go back my mom gets a call as we're walking in to "remind her that the car is done" turns out that girl didn't text the right number and the car had been ready for half an hour! As we go to pay the two guys there first ignore us and talk to this woman who barged in front of us. Finally we get things going and Ian says "oh I checked your oil and it looked pretty dirty you might wanna get that changed soon." The problem is, I had taken it there a week prior to get an oil change and they had forgotten to give me a new sticker and I had used my phone number not my mom's number so they didn't see the records. So they lied about actually checking the oil and even if they did, couldn't they tell it was new premium oil? We were pissed and when I told them I had just been there a week ago the guy got mad and shoved the screen towards me to show me the records. Basically called me a liar. (he was so mad he was shaking and slamming the keys, I'm not even exaggerating, he was really shaking) I gave him my phone number and sure enough there it was, the oil change record. We made them show us the "dirty oil" which looked brand new but Ian insisted because its a turbo he thinks it gets dirty faster. it was obvious this was just a sales tactic or possibly incompetence. I went there for a regular maintenance check-up. Cost me $100, They were not able to replace the engine air filter, 'coz they can't open it. the oil was replaced, but air filter was not changed. They never offered me anything at all. So I ended up going to a Toyota Dealer that has the equipment to open/change the filters.... Bad customer service......Too pricy as well.....If you don't have a knowledge of what you need, you will be given a high quote.....And you will regret it afterwards.............. My tire had a nail in it. Went to Pep Boys to see if they could remove and patch. They said yes, but it depended where the nail was. It would take an hour. I asked if someone could look at the tire and see if the job could be done and that I would an hour for the job. They said that it would take and hour to look at it. Just to look? Yes, one hour. And the sales person argued with me saying the one person working could not take time to look at my tire. Ridiculous! I left and went to my local gas station and had it done upon my request. They kept my friends car for 2 days, because some troubling metal clanging sound that would happen when he drove, and a possible leak. When we came to get it, they couldn't find the keys, couldn't remember the car. After 30 min, they found them, but hadn't actually touched the car, because the engine was too dirty. They scammed us!! So we bought a bunch of parts, only to get home and find out two spark plugs weren't in the bag, but we paid for them. Drove all the way back and they claimed we had them. Do you really think we would drive in rush hour traffic when I'm 9 months pregnant if we had the spark plugs???? Then they said they were going to go look at the security tapes lol are you kidding me? Over $2 spark plugs?? What kind of service is this? We had to purchase two more and it was a huge waste of time. I decided to go here to get my battery checked, and possibly replaced. Without any hassle, I got my battery checked and turned out to need a recharge and retest. Requesting a recharge and retest, I was referred to another mechanic and was then referred to the service desk. The service desk then referred me back to the service bay before telling me that it would take at least 2 hours for the battery to charge with a "take it or leave it" attitude. At this point, I was reluctant to go forward with any business since the claim of two hours seemed more like incentive to leave and the poor customer service interaction. So I accepted anyways because I didn't want to take any more chances with a dead battery but called Auto Zone on Sherman Oaks Blvd to find out how long it would take for a recharge and test. Ceasar, who spoke with a professional and welcoming tone, let me know that it would take 30 to 45 minutes to do a recharge and test. So after consideration, I west to the service desk and requested to have my vehicle disconnected, so I could take my business elsewhere. In response I was told to get my keys (already had my keys, actually) and leave, referring me to the service bay; as if he really cared, right? Having to find help on my own, I had my vehicle disconnected by a tech who seemed to actually seemed concerned about my decision to disconnect and leave. This is the person who should be up front handling customer service (smaller framed gentleman with sleeve tats, for any management who cares). Not somebody who seems completely unmotivated to help customers. To end my review, I found my way to Auto Zone and was greeted by the obviously busy Ceasar, who personally tested my battery and immediately found that it couldn't hold a charge and thoroughly presented options from me. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes with a reliable battery. So, thank you, Ceasar from Auto Zone, and no thank you, Pep Boys service desk agent. read more
