I wish you could give no stars. This place is ridiculous. I called to make an appointment for a smog check, which mind you, takes 20min or less everywhere else. The guy said it would take 30-45minutes. Regardless I made an appointment because they are the cheapest I could find and they are close. I made the earliest appointment they had: 8am. If it takes 45min I'd be done before 9 right? Wrong. As soon as I got there the kid at the front notified me that they needed to "warm up the machine." If they have appointments starting at 8am shouldn't they have the machine warmed up before then? Otherwise don't make appointments until 830. I proceeded to watch the mechanics in the monitors screw around and walk around the garage for 20 minutes. When I asked the kid why after 20minutes it hadn't been started he said "the machines are warming up." When I stated that I made the appointment for 8am sharp because I need to get to work and asked how much longer it would be the kids reply was "I told you it takes 30-45min." They hadn't even gone to my car to pull it into the garage yet! Zero sympathy from him, but he then went out to "check." I then watched them pull up my car, open the hood and walk away. They didn't hook it up to anything or even pull a machine over. They just pulled up my car and left it. At this point it's 840 and FINALLY someone went over to hook a machine up, however 4 guys just stood over my car shooting the sh*t. Finally they hooked it up. Then I watched them finish and stand around just talking for another 20minutes, even after I had expressed to the guy I needed to get to work. Not only that they said multiple times it was 29.99... Ended up costing 38 because of sound BS fee they don't tell you about. I wish I'd paid the extra $3 and for somewhere else. read more

I was under the impression that Pepboys where reliable.I was wrong. I got four new tires for my car and after three weeks my front right tire went out. It was jot installed correctly.I went back and they replaced the tire. A month later I smelled burning rubber coming from the back tires. I took it back then replaced all the four tires. I had to pay for labor and ailment. I have yet to see anything wrong yet but this whole deal was a big hassle. How annoying. read more

Really disappointing! We were new to the neighborhood and I wanted a 15,000 mile service. The young woman who checked me in was great. Then it took much longer than I was told. Oh well. The next day my Check Engine light came on. After them telling me to take it to the dealer cause 'their guy' was out sick, it turns out they had forgotten to reconnect a hose. I really tried to be reasonable but they wasted a lot of my time, by telling me to just come back the next day, which I did for several days before having to go to the dealer. They have a lot of what you need, and it's the closes to me, but drive a little farther to autozone on van Nuys and magnolia. Seems like most of the guys working at pep boys are unhappy, I hate going places were the workers are trying to show you how much they hate their job! After the reviews, Ill never take my car in for service. I've worked customer service for 10 years, leave your problems at home and if you hate your job, do everybody a favor and quit! [10/18/2011] I happened to pay a visit to the Pepboys in Torrance for a squeaky rear tire on my Honda 2007 civic. I had to wait for almost 2 hours to get a brake inspection, and the sad part was that I had to wait even after an appointment. The brake inspection from the "super genius pepboy technician" revealed the following: - front rotors were "damaged" and need to be replaced - front brake pads need to be replaced - there is a nail lodged in one of the tires - and that all the tires are worn out and need to be replaced. All the above services for a price of $900 for a car that is just about 5 years old with 26k miles. Things definitely did not add up for me, especially when I heard totally worn out tires for a car that has run for only 26k miles. The guys in the counter was not at all helpful, wouldn't give straight answers, and kept trying to sell their crappy bundled packages. And yes, the whole work according to pepboys would take about 24 hours. I went to a smaller non-branded auto repair shop in torrance and got the car re-inspected; the inspection revealed that the rotors and tire were absolutely fine and had a long life ahead. And, yes the tires were absolutely fine and had no nail lodged within any of them. The only problem revealed was that the rear brake pad pair was worn out (hence the screetching metallics noise from the sensors). The entire service would cost me just under $140 and about an hour. Compare a pep-boys "full of lies" inspection and quote of $900 V/S a smaller auto shop that quoted a service of $140. The Pepboys, according to me, are just mindless in their work and also in their price quotes. I wouldn't hesitate in also noting the complete LACK OF WORK ETHICS in PepBoys. read more

Took my car to free ac check with coupon with a possibility to fix it right away. Guess what? they never figured out what was wrong with AC and they just said that they can try to fix it, but there will be no guarantee and if AC will fail again come again and fix it (from my pocket expenses again). Third Pep Boys I've been to today and while they have the part I needed, when you walk in ALL of the sales people are just standing around in a group chatting. Worse was the fact that they wanted to charge me $25 to install a clip-in bulb for my headlight that cost $20! I started at the Pep Boys on Fallbrook where they sold me the wrong bulb but were going to install it free of charge. Then I went to the store on Reseda (the most helpful of the stores that I was at today) where they didn't have the part, but took the time to call the store on Sepulveda Blvd, where they tried to charge me the $25 to install a clip-in bulb for my headlight. In short, three stops at Pep Boys and I won't patronize their stores after the crap I went through with these three stores in th San Fernando Valley. Long time loyal customer . . GONE! read more

Came here recently for some chains for my car. The woman I spoke to said they had chains and showed me a wall of boxes. I had no idea what I needed and I had to ask for some help/clarification. She took me to the computer and when she looked up my car she said it looked like they didn't have chains for my car, but she wasn't sure. She offered no additional help. She wasn't very friendly and I was worried about where I was going to be able to find chains for my car because I needed to travel the next day. When she saw my distressed look she said I could talk to the manager and said he was in the back and wearing a blue shirt. She didn't take me to find him and she wasn't helping anyone else, so????!? I walked to the back of the store and found him. He was nice and helpful, but said I needed to know my tire size. He got an employee (very young guy/awkward/didn't talk to me) to come out to my car to check the size. So, I was able to find the chains I needed, but apparently you need to find a manager for help and service. And you need to be persistent. Updating this review after having my vehicle inspected by the dealership this morning: The tire that originally brought me back into pep boys on 6/1/17 that was "repaired" by Pep Boys NoHo after Pep Boys Sepulveda treated me like absolute shit, needs to be fully replaced. I have been losing air in this tire daily, and driving around on it unsafely because I was told by Pep Boys it was repaired and not leaking. Well...it IS leaking. And it has been leaking for almost three months. The patches that were done by Pep Boys on the tire effectively ruined the tire, and now the tire needs to be entirely replaced. I am irritated beyond belief and WILL NOT under any circumstances buy anything ever again from this company, regardless of store location. This tire should be replaced FOR FREE and I will report back again after going to yet another Pep Boys location and seeing how they treat me. What a nightmare. read more

Stay away from this service bay, they are the worst. they lie about appointment times, lie about the time it takes for service. there is no professional attitude from any of the staff. called before I came down on twoe separate occasions and was told they were totally open and would take no time. On both visits I was met with a option of 2 hour wait or make another appointment with no regard for my time or me as a customer. I walked outside and all the bays were empty with six mechanics just walking around joking with each other..no work getting done on anyones car ...and it was not lunch time.... I was told someone could put in the break lights I bought from them if I tipped the guy so I pulled my car around to the service area and he looked at me like I had four heads and said they didn't do that... They would need to fill out paper work and it would take a while! Hmmm sounds ridiculous to me so I went down the street to Firestone where I found out I was sold the wrong bulbs. DO NOT TAKE YOU CAR TO PEP BOYS. They lied, deliberately sabotaged my vehicle, failed to replace critical bolts, charged me for TWO serpentine belts (and labor for both, sneaky sneaks) and sent me out in an unsafe vehicle. Four times. The store manager tried to "handle" it by refunding me for some faulty part he'd installed, then basically snowed me and gave me a bunch of bs about corrosion. Which he'd never mentioned during the initial inspection. Same guy who thinks cars need 2 serpentine belts. After that I called customer service twice a day and refused to speak to anyone at a local level. After much ado, it took Pep Boys Corporate a few months, but they finally paid me back for all the damage they caused to my car and apologized for leaving me stranded on the side of the road (X4) immediately after Pep Boys Lankershim and Pep Boys Sepulveda claimed they "fixed" the problem. I still had to pay a real mechanic about $400 to repair my car, but at least my nightmare with these sheisters is finally over. The worst part is, anyone I shared my story with had an equally awful Pep Boys horror story. They are notoriously bad. Do your homework and find an honest mechanic rather than any Pep Boys. I'm grateful their customer service did the right thing, but at the store level, they are vultures. read more

One word: avoid. I got a flat tire at work one day, and by the time I got out this was the only place open to fix it. [I guess that's the only reason for the one star (other than the fact that I can't possibly give fewer)--they have long hours.] Anyway, I went there to have them fix my tire around 8 PM. They close at 9. I asked the guy at the desk if they could fix it, and he said yes. I signed the paperwork, they took the car in after about 15 minutes of waiting, and then they promptly returned after about 5 minutes to tell me that the tire couldn't be fixed. Fine. I know zero about cars, so if someone who looks like they know their way around a carburetor then what they say goes. I just bought 4 brand-new tires 4 months before this, so it seemed unfortunate to have to replace one so soon, but I needed to be a functional member of society in the morning, so new tire it was. I asked how much it would cost, and the guy pulled up the list. The cheapest was $59--pretty good! But then he did something weird and the $59 became $83. I asked about it, and he said "taxes". Now, I know California's taxes are higher than any other state I've lived in, but 59 to 83 is a 40% tax. Kinda fishy. But whatever. Now it was 8:25 and I needed a car with 4 tires to get me back to work in the morning, so I asked if I could just quickly call my significant other to warn him of the relatively large charge that was about to grace our credit card bill. The guy said "sure" in a I-hate-you-for-wasting-my-time-at-8:30-PM kind of way, and I ducked away for a second. I called, my SO said "sure" (possibly out of self-preservation, so I wouldn't steal his vehicle and leave him stranded in the morning), and I returned to the desk to find...no one. In fact, I waited 15 minutes to talk to the guy, who was around the desk, but apparently had decided to give me the silent treatment. After a few minutes of him ignoring me, I said, "excuse me, sir?" To which he replied, "you wait" very gruffly and left the desk--not to return for another 20 minutes. After standing around from 8:45-9:05 with everyone now gone and random employees starting to close down the store, I finally asked another person (who was also rude) if he knew where the guy had gone. He went to get him (another 5-10 minute wait) and finally the first man appeared again. He shoved paperwork at me, waiting for me to sign it before announcing that it was now $97 (when I asked why, he replied "taxes" again--and didn't respond when I told him that he's already included taxes before). But then it was 9:15 and I was exhausted from a 13-hour shift at work and this man's nonsense and I needed to get to work in 10 hours, so I said "fine" and let him do it. They sloppily threw my spare in the back of the car and practically kicked me out of the place after. When I looked over the bill, all the extra charges were for labor and resetting my tire pressure alarm (which should be free with a tire change)...and wouldn't you know it: a day later, my low tire pressure light came back on, along with a new light to indicate that the emergency brake is on every time I try to accelerate or coast. I've been here a bunch of times to get my tires rotated and had belts replaced once. They are straight forward with me and probably respect the fact that I do most maintenance on my car myself; I ask questions and if they're too busy to do your car while you wait they will tell you and tell you when to bring it back. Compared to most garages I've dealt with they are above average but not magicians and yes, they do have to make a profit. I found that if you treat the guys there respectfully, they will return the courtesy. Always a good idea-especially if you really don't know how to deal with the issues you have or at least the tools to try and figure it out. read more

Called ahead to make appt. for simple smog check. Guy told me, just come in at 2 and you'll go right in. Got there at 1:50. Alex told me it would take 20-30 min.. So I waited, and waited, and waited. I noticed after about 1/2 hour my car was right where I left it, so I asked Alex if it was done. He checked and said, no but it's going in now. So I waited, and waited, and waited. AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER(YES, TRIPLE THE TIME THAT WAS GIVEN ME!) I walked back up to counter and told a diff. guy that I'm getting irritated. Told him my story and he had the nerve to say, "Well, it usually takes about 30 min."...no "I'm so sorry about that", NOTHING. My kids where waiting for me at home to bring home lunch...luckily they weren't passed out by the time I got there! I should have been given a more realistic time frame and I def. should have at least been given the courtesy of an apology!!! read more

Ehhh.... nothing special about this location. I have been here 3 times, which was suppose to only be a one time deal. I came to get new tires for my car. The only reason I came to Pep Boys was because i had a blow out and was on my spare, and Costco was scheduled up for 3 days. The first experience was fine i called to see if they had any availability the guy said yeah, he scheduled an appointment for me later that day after I got off work. Cool. The only bad part of this experience was that after that they forgot about me. I waited the hour and and half they quoted. After that I got curious and walked outside to check on my car and I noticed my car was parked in a stall and not the garage. I went to the counter and asked the status of my car. The man checked behind him, and said my car is ready. Uggghhhh. So how long was it ready? How long was I sitting there wasting my time? 2 months go by, and I notice my tire is always in need of air. I keep filling it up to the recommended amount. I don't assume any foul play, because i trust people do their work well, and I'm working 6-7 days a week and dont really wanna schedule to have someone look at it, and wait another hour or soo. So finally i give in and schedule an appointment. I go in tell the guy I have an appointment at 1pm. He checks the computer and says did you make it online, I say yes. He tells me same day appointments are not valid, and thats a glitch with their website. I'm sorry what?! He says I can be a walk in, but I would have to wait at least an hour to get into the rotation. So I make an appointment for the next day. Show up 15 minutes early and thank God I did, cause I got up to the guy, and he disappeared. He went to go do paperwork, shred papers, go in and out the door. So I decided to give this place another try. I wanted to replace the fluid in my TRANSFER CASE and asked what they had with regard to transfer case fluid. The first idiot kept asking me what transmission I had. I asked if she knew the difference between a transmission and transfer case. She didn't so I asked for someone with a brainstem. A manager came to the phone and he (apparently) had no idea either. REALLY? You people work at an AUTO PARTS STORE and you can't decipher the difference? ALL four-wheel drive vehicles have transfer cases - it's what allows the vehicle to switch from 2-wheel drive to 4-wheel drive and back again. UGH!!!!! It requires a BLUE FLUID - NOT OIL. So I called Napa and handled my business. That was simple because they had a clue. read more

I went in here in need of new tires. First stopped by Costco, thinking they would have a better price. I drive a Honda Accord and Costco quoted me $560 for 4 tires with NO alignment (they don't offer that service, which will normally cost about $60). So I walked over to Pep Boys... 1. Paid $498 for 4 brand new tires 2. This price included alignment 3. I got a $70 mail in rebate, so my total is really ~$430. 4. Reyna, the sales rep, was very professional and friendly As a woman, I really like the fact that another woman was helping me and I trusted that she was honest - I wasn't sure if I needed to replace all 4, but she came and took a look at my car and explained to me why it would be best to get all of them changed. Knocked off 1 star becuase there is NO where to hang out while the car was being fixed..(unless you want to shop at costco), I could barely sit still inside the store from the smell of the tires. WORST customer service ever. I came here few months ago. I needed my brake light changed, so once I got to the service counter the guy said he would need to ask someone in the back for the price. So he went, and came back and told me it would cost me $40 to change the LIGHT. Obviously because I'm a woman the guy thought he would get away with it because he thinks woman don't know anything about cars. I decided to go to the Studio City location, once I got there the service guy changed my light immediately and told me the light was only $5.00. I couldn't believe it, so I decided to share my story with him about what happened in the other store, he was in shock and said you know what, don't worry about it. Return to pick up my car when ready, given a slip to take to the cashier--there was no cashier, had to shout "hello, hello, anybody here?" Finally she came--first rang up as $33.77. I said no it is supposed to be $19.99. She scanned the coupon and now it rang up as $21.97. I said no it's supposed to be $19.99. She called for the manager. He came, did something on the register, still $21.97 and said "I can't override it!" You made an appt. So what? What? This is bait and shift. Illegal and bad business. Not what I expect from Pep Boys! Meanwhile the checkout line is getting longer and I'm out of patience. Put it on my card to refute with credit card company. They couldn't find the tire lock, which was located exactly where I told them it was, so they let the car sit there all day without calling me until I came to pick up the car at 5p. Stay away of this place! Stay away of this place! I came here for my car's first oil change about a year ago. I made an online appointment and was in the store right on time. Berny and Claudia were at the service desks. Berny was chatting in Spanish with some guy who did not look like a customer and paid no attention to me arriving. Claudia was typing something on her computer and told me that she will be with me in a moment. Well, 15 minutes later the disposition did not change. I was so angry that was going to leave, and stayed just because of the fact that I would need to waste more time to find another shop. Finally, after 20 minutes, Claudia finished what she was doing and asked what did bring me in today (Bernie was still chatting with his friend). I had the Pep Boys $54.99 coupon (for the synthetic oil), but Claudia did not want to acknowledge it until I asked her to call her manager. Importantly, the coupon included "free tire rotation". Next, their "ready in 30 minutes" promise is a straight up lie. Claudia educated me that it actually means "30 minutes from the time the mechanic starts working on the car, and this may actually happen in an hour or more because they are so busy". When I reminded her that I had an appointment, she just gave me a sad look... I told myself that I will never again go to this place for the oil change. But when my next oil change was due, I decided to give them another chance because they offered the cheapest price and besides, I had to go shopping to the adjacent Costco. I made an appointment for Sunday afternoon, building my day around it. But when I came, the clerk told me that my appointment was cancelled because they were overbooked. They did try calling me about an hour before my appointment, but I was away from my phone. Later I found a barely legible message on my phone asking to call Pep Boys back and not explaining the reason for their call. Still, when I showed up for the canceled appointment, the associate talked me into making it for another day. So, I came back in a couple of days and was taken care of right away. However, they again didn't want to acknowledge their own written offer (a coupon) without an argument. This offer again included tire rotation. When I came to pick up my car, I asked the mechanic, and then the store clerk if tire rotation has been performed. Both said yes. When I got to my car, though, I noticed that all wheels were in the same positions as before. When I pressured the mechanic again, he admitted that he didn't rotate tires because he could not find a key to the wheel lock nut. I know that it was in the spare tire compartment, but when I looked into it, the key was gone. And the only time it was used before, was during the oil change 6 months at this same shop. So, they stole my wheel lock key! That was the last straw. Pep Boys broke my trust. Now I officially will never come close to this brand even if I have to pay more elsewhere and will advise everyone to stay away from this dishonest business. read more

First of all the guy in the front is extremely rude, he is the one with the glasses, he told me that they don't have form.! And he asked me to go to print it out very rudely.!! And I am helped by a gentleman named MARTIN, now I am young and I do not make much money to get every repair my car needs , but this guy was overall just a jackass. Telling me I have a lack of maintenance not allowing me to finish my sentences , just rude as hell. Maybe next time before he comes to work he should remove that stick up his ass. Great service! I had my running boards taken off by them on my Jeep and they did great job! However the visit was left off on a bad note when the girl who finished the transaction printed us out a quote for new tires and commented how I should be appreciative that I have someone paying for my car dues since my grandfather had offered. The comment was very unnecessary and none of her business. Both my grandfather and I were really shocked that she felt the need to say that to us as he was only be generous and wanted to help pay for it. Last week ( Wed ) my battery died and called AAA for a jump. Next day around 6 pm I came in to Pep Boys, in Van Nuys with my other car and got a quote for battery replacement. They quoted me $ 290.00. I made an appointment for Friday at 1.30pm to bring in the car. On Friday, when I turned on the ignition, the car started with no problem. When I came in to my appointment, Mr. Andredi ( Claimed to be the Manager ) told me that he will charge me an additional $ 90.00 to check if the battery is OK. He said that he will replace the battery for $ 380.00 not $ 290.00. I tried to explain that his own employee gave me a $ 290.00 quote, his reply was " why would anybody come at night to get a quote. The night people don't know anything.They are stupid." I tried to reason with him that, i got a quote from a Pep Boys employee, but he was unreasonable and rude. I purchased a new battery and the 3 year warranty. Couple of weeks later, my car lights begin flickering and the vehicle starts shaking. I take it back to pep boys and they claim it's not the battery, it's my car. So I took it to the dealership and guess what? It's the battery!!!! Pep boys sold me a bad battery and refused to admit it. Do not waste your money on this crooked, incompetent joke of shop. read more
