I needed new tires for my Honda CRV and went to Pep boys after walking out of Firestone. I paid about $350 less at Pep Boys than I would have paid for a set of comparable quality 65K mile tires at Firestone or my Honda dealer. There was a glitch with their system, but I'm giving them 5 stars anyway. My tires had been accidentally sold to another customer after I scheduled an appointment to have them installed. Jason scrambled to get the tires quickly from a nearby Pep Boys location. There was an older lady on line in front of me. She was tight on cash and Jason made an extraordinary effort to help her find ways to reduce the repair cost and give her options. This is an honest repair shop that will treat you fairly. read more

My s.o. came in on Friday and asked how long it'd be for an oil change. The person at the counter said it'd be at least an hour and a half and was super rude so she walked out. We scheduled an oil change online for both our cars for Saturday afternoon. Also found a good deal through the pep boys website (expired at the end of that day). When we arrived (a half hour early) we were told that it'd be at least an hour and a half wait. Sensing a theme? They said they could fit us both in Sunday morning right away and they'd honor the online deal. We showed up Sunday morning right on time for her and a half hour early for me and they said there are four people ahead of us and that it'd be an hour and a half for her and two hours for me. I'm sorry I don't want to drop my car off for half a day because I have a lot of things to get done. I could've done my oil myself for how long I spent waiting----usually I go in because it's a lot quicker, but this was nuts. After waiting a half hour (spent making our grocery list for the week) we left since they hadn't touched our cars. I wouldn't trust someone with a car who can't handle making a schedule. read more

Incompetent front desk help. Brought my car in on a Tuesday, was told parts needed to be ordered. Scheduled me for a Sunday morning because they said it would be in by then. Drove through a horrible ice storm to get there on time. An hour after my spot was scheduled my car was still not brought back. They called me to the front desk only to tell me they forgot to order the parts. I asked when they could get them in... A month later - I'm still waiting. (Actually, took my business elsewhere). Sales help looked like an unmade bed, should know better than to trust disorganization with organizing.... "Eggie" was incompetent, and his manager, did nothing to correct the situation or apologize. You have tons of options for car care, go someplace that cares - stay far away from here. read more

Made an appointment for my '77 Chevy Van. Got there, was told that the parts in to tune up my engine were not in their computer - . I'm short on tools and have no where to work on this van at the time- but it's a 350 - one of the most common engines ever. I was told to come back tomorrow and see if anyone was "willing to work on it". In bad need of a tune up, I went to NAPA and got the parts, borrowed tools from a friend and did it myself, saving a few hundred dollars. If these mechanics balk at a Chevy small block then they're just not qualified, in my opinion, to be trusted to work on something a bit more complex. I will not shop at Pep Boys and will not use their services ever again. read more

100% satisfied !!!! Showed up Friday AM WITHOUT an appointment . Need a clutch for my truck installed. I was told they probably could do it till MONDAY . WELL SUNDAY AM THE TRUCK WAS DONE and $40 CHEEPER THAN quoted TOLD $630 only charged $590!!!!! Jeffrey Tippett was the mechanic and he did a great job. Local transmission repair shops wanted twice the price I payed . Pepboys does do great work . Don't let a few poor reviews from others that were obviously upset before they even got to the shop keep you from giving these guys a chance . Wonderful experience getting new tires for my car. I originally used the online chat feature on Pep Boys website to find tires that would work for my car, and made an appointment. Then I found tires cheaper elsewhere, so called the shop to cancel my appointment. I spoke to Tina, who helped me find comparable tires at a great price that included install and roadside hazard protection too! When I got to the shop everyone was super friendly, and my tires were done in 1hour! Great service, great products. Thanks Tina! read more

First off! I have an appointment at 8am for an oil change which takes about 30min. Now I've been waiting for 20mins already and they've seen 3 people who didn't even have appointments before my car has even been touched. This place is a joke. They have 4 people here and 3 of those people are working on 1 car. Like this is bullshit! Don't ever come to this shop it's a waste of time and service. read more

I scheduled an appointment at 11am to have 4 new tires put on my van and have my brakes inspected. When I arrived everything seemed to be smooth, except they would not give me any sort of indication on a time frame whatsoever "until they looked at the brakes. Fair enough I guess. I brought them 6 wheels total (4 on the van and 2 spares in the back that were flat) and made a very clear point that i wanted my two best tires to be saved as spares, and the flats and the two worst worn tires repaired. We all agreed that that made sense and was good thinking. I called them at 3pm to see how things were going from across the street, and they told me that i needed new front pads and everything should be ready to go around 5pm. A full 6 hours after my scheduled appointment started. Informed them that that would not suffice as I had to be at work at 4:30. "Okay we'll rush to get it done" was the response i got. They took my van of the lift at 4:12 and I drove off with out them testing the brake job because it wasn't worth getting in trouble at work over only to see the two flats still in the back of the van!!! I called them on the way into work and explained how unfortunate it was that they failed at completing both of the services i had just paid for in a timely matter, or in fact at all. They offered to give me back my good tires if i could come in the following day. When i returned the following morning at 9am explained that with out an appointment the soonest they would be able to get to me was noon, so as anyone would i escalated to a manager and my tires were mounted and balanced in 20 mins. When I asked why it took over 5 hours the previous day I was given a coupon for a free oil change. Thank goodness I can use it at another location, because I value my time far to much to return to this Pep Boys again. read more

This is easily one of the laziest garages I have ever seen. Everyone moves at their own pace. Took my car to have rim changed out, they wouldn't remove my TPS from my old rim because it was "seized." Took me less than 5 minutes to get it off when I got home. Also failed to inform me that it was illegal to drive my car like that. My tires were wearing unevenly also do to poor alignment; which they easily should have noticed while taking a tire off the rim and putting it on a new one. This was my second time there and both times there time estimates were way off; an hour turned into 2-3. Awful service! Do yourself a favor and skip this place! read more

I had been searching prices for tires and I found Walmart to have the best prices on there website but when called Walmart they didn't any tires of my choice and i would have to have them delivered to the store which could have taken a week or longer. I didn't have time to wait which brought me to my 2 nd best choice. I found a great all terrain tire at a great price. I had them installed but the store was busy that day so I had to wait a while. The guy at the counter was very helpful and even put in a coupon code off his cell phone to save me some money on a oil change. I was pleased over all with my experience and would come back to this location. I did have a bad experience at the Pep Boys on Concord Pike in Wilmington, DE. read more

Went to the store with a friend of mine for oil filters, and an employee was standing in the same department while we were looking around.. He did not say one word to us or even a greeting. We looked up the product information on our phones. While checking out, the same employee that did not assist us earlier, was the cashier. He continued to have a conversation with the other employee, while he was scanning the products. Again did not greet us, did not ask if we were pepboys members. And when he finished ringing up, he did not tell us the total balance due! Just looked at us for the payment. Horrible customer service ! Would never return to this location again. read more

I made an online appointment for 1pm on a Friday afternoon for an oil change. Arrived at 12:30pm. The front desk clerk said it would be about an hour...hahaha. I walked out at 2:10 with my van after they had just took another car. Why on God green earth do you have this option of online appointments when it means crap!!!! Please don't waist my time. Gave me an appointment for 12:45 for an oil change, didn't touch my car until 1:45. Technician couldn't find my car in a parking lot of ten cars after walking it twice. It was the only one out there with the year make and model I gave them, AND the lights blink when you use the key fob. Customer service was terrible. read more

Lazy, poor manners, and horrible customer service. I went in for a simple oil change, and was first off shocked at how much it cost ($59.99, my car uses synthetic oil, not sure if that was why, buy Jiffy Lube was only $40.00). As the gentleman who was assisting me took my information, other employees were carrying on a conversation over us, they were talking extremely loud, and I could tell the gentleman helping me was getting distracted. When it was finally time for me to check out, I stood at the desk while more employees carried on a conversation. The woman at the register actually stood with her back to me, and none of her coworkers bothered to tell her I needed assistance. I could continue, but you get the gist. Also, Jiffy Lube at least vacuums your floors, Pep Boys... nope! I will not be returning. read more

Please take your vehicle somewhere else if you value your time. I want to give less than 1 star but the computer won't let me. Okay, so I wrote a pretty negative review the other day, and I have to change it. I took my car in for a full synthetic oil change and a new air filter. It cost almost $90. The next day my check engine light came on, and the day after that it stalled out every time I stopped at a light or stop sign. I took it to my mechanic and it turned out that there were fittings left off of the breather box(?) during the air filter change. My mechanic had to charge me for a tow and diagnostics and very minimal labor, which amounted to $131. I was very upset and posted a bad review here as well as emailing the store. Well today I got a call from an Andy Day? I assume he must be a manager. He handled everything very well and was willing to work with me. He knows my mechanic and trusts what he says and is giving me my money back for the repairs I had to get at my mechanic. He was also willing to give me my money back for the oil change, which I said wasn't necessary as the service was done. I'm still a bit upset about the extra frustration, but I really appreciate how they are trying to do what they can to make it up to me. read more

Good repair. Bad service. I walked in and asked them to fix a flat..a simple patch. The garage wasn't that busy and it took them about 20 minutes to fix which isn't bad. But... It took an hour waiting for them to return my key. They saw me waiting and paperwork doesn't take that long for a tire patch. read more

Came in to make a appointment 3 wks ago to put on a hitch for direct fit on my vehicle for the following Sunday for it's my only day off. Came in that following Sunday and they said they didn't have time even tho I booked the appointment so I said that's fine let's do it again for the following Sunday. Well here I am again 10:30 am that was the scheduled date and guess what same bs again and apologize for the same inconvenience telling me it won't be done till 6 at night? So all I can say don't make a scheduled appointment cause you'd just be wasting time like I have. Took my truck in for tires and a battery. The only reason I let them work on my truck was for the buy 3 get 1 on tires needed to be installed by them. I am a master tech and do all my own work. Lets start with the tires, they not only put painted wheel weights on my chrome rims they put multiple weights on each tire. Lets count shall we LF 5 weights, RF 6 weights, LR 4 weights, RR 7 weights. This is completely outrageous. If one weight on each side does not balance the tire you dismount and spin the tire until it balance out. Next the battery, first the ONLY battery they had was of course the most expensive. When I walked back in from grabbing lunch their store manager was under my hood banging the battery terminals on with a mallet. When I said something he actually said that's how we get them on. Their store actually sells BATTERY TERMINAL SPREADERS which are the proper tool to install a battery. On top of that they cracked the heater box for the battery. SO my heater box is broken, my chrome rims are jacked because they used incorrect wheel weights, and they battery will likely start leaking around the terminals. But hey the service manager stated he has been selling tires for years and this is the way its done. Steer clear of this store, they do not employ properly trained mechanics read more
