My first impression is cool concept! Sizzling plates bring me back to Asian cafe days when I use to order sizzling beef udon and oh how I miss it so much. Now that everything they serve here comes out on a sizzling plate makes it that much sweeter. Presentation is great the food comes out quick. Ok bit confused at first. Didn't get why photos had raw meat it. Well I should have known! Served on a hot sizzling plate that continues to cook your meat. You select how you want it. Wanna know the secret to why people wan eat this place? It's just because of the sizzling sound! I came with my friend for lunch on a Friday afternoon right after it opened. We looked at the menu and ordered what we decided looked good. I ordered the Angus cut steak, which was 12.40 ish along with a fries. And my friend got the salmon pepper rice combo about 15 dollars. First of all, the menu was so confusing to see, and the menu outside was really small. Also if this was a crowded day it wouldve been worse since people had to stand and look at the menu with no assistance given. I ordered and me and my friend waited for the food. Everyone, especially some older adults that came in and wanted to eat had to ask for help, and they were also having trouble with the menu and the ordering on the tablet. This is probably the most complicated restaurant I have been to when it comes to ordering. Also, I thought my angus cut steak came with rice but it doesn't. The food is also pretty expensive and pricey too. Probably will never come back, but we'll see. NOT WORTH!! I'd rather go to a Hong Kong cafe to eat lunch!!! On the bright side, the only exciting part of my trip here was seeing the plate brought to you sizzlin hot. They gave very less meat to me, the plate was only half full like what!! I've had pepper lunch once in taiwan , and the bf and I agreed it was the worst meal we have had there . I wasn't too excited when they opened a pepper lunch in Alhambra , but was open to check out the hype . The Beef and kimchi is so bomb with cheese sprinkled on top. Don't forget to add a side order of egg . If you like spicy food, this is the perfect dish as it's super flavored. My only complaint is that sometimes the beef is way too fatty. Here on a Saturday night. My friends and I got lucky that there wasn't a huge line. The first time we came here we waited 1 hour. The Teppan Cream Pasta was delicious. I got the ribeye and some sides that you have to pay extra like Kim chi and garlic chips. This place is NOT cheap and the quality of the steak is mediocre. Let me explain how I came to a 3 star rating: I had the classic beef pepper rice, added a fried egg and mushrooms, and a side of sweet potato wedges. The dish overall was bland in flavor, did not have enough beef, and was too heavy in butter. I would give the class beef pepper rice a 2.5 star rating. My husband had the kimchi beef pepper rice and added onions. His dish was way more flavorful than mine -- cheese and kimchi made a huge difference! I should've known - you can rarely ever go wrong with cheese and kimchi! He gave his dish a solid 4 stars. I averaged out our two ratings. On another note, I think their sweet potato wedges and onion rings we're a solid 5 stars. read more

I like the concept of a fast casual restaurant but the ordering is confusing for people who are use to the normal sit down restaurant. I don't like the idea where you have to order first before you can sit down. If it has to be that way, get some chairs so people can sit and wait. They need to find a place with a bigger area. The steaks are tasty but a little overpriced for a fast casual. For the two of us, the bill was $55 not including tips. For the same quality of meat, i can get it half priced at cantonese cafes. They do everything right! It's really simple I guess, just go in and order your food at the tablets/ipads or whatever you want to call that thing that they provide on the wall. Young people should easily understand how to operate this thing, if you are older or not as tech-savvy as me you can order your food at the counter where one of the servers can help you there. Food is good, I ordered the beef pepper rice regular size with sweet potato fries on the side... Don't forget the sauce at your table, mix the sauces with the rice, super yummy! The place is clean and there is a self serving area where you can grab your own drinks or water and napkins. Their restroom has a baby changing pad as well, which is a plus for parents! It does smell like a small korean bbq place in there but If you're not there too long, it won't really get on your clothes. About 2 years ago, I had Pepper Lunch in Vancouver. I was quite excited to finally have a Pepper Lunch opening in my home town. I finally had the chance to try it, and gosh darn the line was line, even after 3 months. I got the jumbo classics beef, and it tasted just as good as I had it 2 years ago. The food was fine, nothing extraordinary but not bad. If the customer service was better, I would go back. The server was rude when we entered the establishment. She chastised my date and I for coming through the "wrong door". The door was open, it was on the Main Street side, so we went in. It's perfectly fine for a business to have an entrance and and exit that they prefer customers to use, what's not okay is to reprimand customers when the server has left the door open. I had been having Pepper Lunch in Hong Kong before I moved to the US. Pepper Lunch there is good, so when I heard they open one near my home, I couldn't wait to try it out. And it turns out Pepper Lunch here is waaaaaayyyyyy better than it is in HK. You can customize your food. And the fries(sweet potato and regular) are delicious! Only thing I would say is that it's a small store, so it will be difficult for big parties to be seated. read more
