I came in looking for food with a large appetite.. I ordered the Jalapeño Poppers and a Shredded Chicken Chimichanga made it street and garbage. The jalapeño poppers were crispy and somewhat spicy, however they weren't hot in temperature. Out of 10 I give them a 6, I've definitely had better jalapeño poppers. I was, at first, disappointed that my beans got mixed in with my rice because I do not eat beans. But after salvaging what I could, I realized I wasn't missing out on anything. The rice was dry and bland, I'm not all that down about it anymore. The chimichanga I wanted smothered in cheese instead of the green or red sauce so I had to order 2 sides of queso. It was just okay really nothing special. I don't see myself coming back here. I paid extra for spice and there was NO spice. The food is not bad but it could be better. If I pay $36 for a chimichanga that's supposed to be spicy and jalapeño poppers I expect quality that's above subpar. read more

We were near the Walmart and saw this place around lunch time and decided to give it a try. They had colorful decor and the staff seemed helpful and friendly. We had several people engage with us for different reasons during our visit. We had a host seat us, a waitress to take our order, a drink server, a food server, and a table bus person. I ordered the "famous" flat enchilada. I chose pork for my meat choice. My husband ordered the Chile Verde burrito which appeared to be the same shredded pork with I had on my enchilada. There wasn't a ton of flavor in the meat so we added some salsa to our meals. They had both a regular salsa and a hot salsa option, but my husband didn't think the hot was very hot. The meals came with rice and beans. There was fun wall decor and the concrete floor had a splash paint treatment that was colorful as well. If you are looking for a ton of flavor, this may not be your place, but if you want a good meal, they do provide that. read more

Last stop on our way home from a trip. We have been coming here for years. It was 8:00 and there were over 8 tables full with the Sunday Night Football game on. We tried to open the door and it was locked. Yelp says they are open until 9:00, but the girl at the front would not recognize that we were knocking on the door. Literally 2 feet away. We started to walk away and an older guy knocked and the girl at the front let him in immediately and he picked up an order. Kind of sad, it's a fun place with "ok" food, but the service is horrible. Been going their for years but tonight valentine day they where off their game cook mess up order twice order extra garbage toppings their were no topping had to ask for them extra on the side also order a 3 item combination only recived 2 item had to ask waitress were my 3rd item was then , I heard yelling from them kitchen then 3rd item was bought out it seem the employees attitude was hurry up and chase customers out we arrived at 745pm. So I called to make a pick up order, first off they don't offer salsa to go with ur entree the guy on the phone said I had to order a 16oz/32oz I was like I'm not gonna drink the salsa, so no salsa for my food then I order a side of guacamole which I'm very disappointed at that (I got mashed avocado for $5) no lime, no salt, no flavor, manager said I had to order it differently after I complained about the flavorless guac. Food portions extremely small for the price and no flavor at all! Also when I got there my food wasn't ready because they needed a payment first which they should of said that on the phone to begin with. Just wow don't know how they stay in business honestly. Due to Covid I wish I Could add more stars because service was good but NOT the food! SO My husband ordered The combo plate and it was horrible, the tamale tasted just like the enchiladas BUT the rice was good but they only served about 3 tablespoons full and the same on the refried beans just not enough. I ordered a taco salad with grilled chicken.. And it was served on a shallow plate because the fryer was down so they brought it to me on a soft burrito tortilla (really) BUT they apologized for their fryer being down like that was gonna make my tortilla taste crispy and golden fried.. but they never gave me an option to switch my order. (Tisk tisk tisk ) So because it was on the shallow plate all nice and "flat" there was not enough food in there and the lettuce pieces were so large it look like they just took it out of a salad bag. We had to drive down to St. George for a business meeting and knowing the restaurants were closing because of Covid and it was late in the day we didn't have high expectations. We were in the mood for Mexican and just took a chance on this place. I have to say the food was authentic, and it was excellent even though they were close to closing, the food was so fresh ! I got a pork tostado, and my husband had the fish tacos. It was served with chips and salsa. The chips were warm and they gave us two types of salsa... It was excellent! I'm a soda kind a girl, the diet Coke they served was so good I think I got three refills... I would definitely go back just because the Diet Coke and ice was so tasty.... Hmm...on a weekend visiting family in St. George we dined at Peppers twice, both for lunch and dinner. Our first meal was quite good. I enjoyed a very tall Polygamy Porter along with the street tacos. I found the tacos quite tasty, well season chicken with a very thin flour tortilla. Along with a large plate of rice and bean, this was a very filling meal. Our second visit wasn't as great, although to be fair I did not suffer any ill effects from my meal, but three of my family members did. We went back a second time for lunch 2 days later and I tried a combo tamale and chicken enchilada platter smothered with green chile sauce. I really enjoyed the tamale as I thought they did a nice job preparing it. The texture was ideal, not too dense or too flaky and just the balance of pork and corn. As a tamale lover, I was in heaven. The enchilada wasn't quite as good, albeit it was stuffed to the breaking point with shredded chicken, which some patron would drool over, but I thought it was overload and prefer a much more balanced approach. That said, it was a quite enjoyable meal yet again. I must also add that I found the guacamole we ordered as an appetizer to be quite bland and need a lot more salt and lime. Now, for the bad part...later after our meal my wife and sister in law fell quite ill. A couple hours later after pulling the car over on the side to puke for my sister in law and my wife making repeated visits to the toilet, we identified it as food poisoning from Peppers. Now, we attributed it to the margarita of all things. They were the only two who ordered margarita's and to confirm, grandma took a sip of one and had a severe belly ache after the meal. This was quite shocking, but we are almost certain that something in the margarita made them sick. Anyway, I myself had two good meals here, so I had to knock my rating down a couple stars for my family suffering bouts of toilet trauma. We came in to St. George's on July 2nd and stayed next door at the Westgate by Wyndham, so we walked over and decided to give Family Owned Peppers Cantina a try, and am I glad we did!! They seriously have some if the best margaritas we have had since we moved from California last year... we talked to Rich, the owner about his recipe for his tasty margaritas and his philosophy of all fresh at the bar and in the kitchen.. the food was excellent, and the portions very generous ! We had the pulled chicken quesadilla and the pulled chicken taco salad. YUM! They are also practicing social distancing during this time and are very proud to keep their customers safe with limiting access inside until it's your turn to dine. This place is not good. I have eaten at my fair share of mediocre Mexican joints and this place is by far the worst. The restaurant has no Mexican ambiance and the food was bad. I tried the Beso Chimichangas. There are two chimichangas on the plate, so I had one shredded beef and one shredded pork. I thought the shredded beef was especially good. I had mine topped with their green tomatilla sauce. It is good. I just wish it had been served on the side because my chimichangas just became soggy by the end...not what you want with a chimichanga! The sides of beans and rice were very unremarkable, disappointing. The chimis come with a scoop of sour cream. It would be nice, for the price (and since this is one of their specialties) to have also added a dollop of guacamole to the plate. On a mini vacation this is the worst Mexican food we have ever ate. The beans were runny like soup. They used way to much cheese our 3yo almost choked. My chimichanga was not crisp it looked almost green from oil and not crisp at all. The chicken was good full of flavor. The chips were not left in the fryer long enough and were rubbery occasionally. Extremely americanized!!! However, I don't think you would go to Utah for authentic Mexican! The chips are not fresh, but their salsa is ok. You can choose from hot, medium or mild. I only tried the medium but it was on the hotter side. I ordered a chili rellano, shredded beef burrito with green sauce and my mom had a carnitas burrito with green sauce. The chili rellano was good, didn't seem super fresh though, not sure if it was store bought? The carnitas were super good and the shredded beef was tasty. Beans and rice very generic but the green sauce I am 100% positive came out of the Herdez bottle from the super market. Seriously. The burritos were not rolled more folded quite fat, it was odd.
