The food and service is great but the manager is horrible. I asked what his name is and was told it is Akron. I heard him talking horribly too his employees. SOOOOOO disrespectful!!! I don't know where he came from but he needs to go. I don't plan on coming back in there. I was very uncomfortable. If he will treat his employees that way who knows when he would go off on a customer and god forbid it would be me because I don't do rude very well. I plan to call the EEOC. This place gets all the ratings! Service is exceptional. We had the sampler appetizer and it was a huge portion. My husband had the shrimp and ribeye which was cooked to his liking. I had the spinach chicken and it was delicious. I ordered a Bahama Mama and wasn't a fan, however, the manager came to get my input and kindly replaced it with my next drink choice and took it off my bill. I never complained, the waitress just noticed that I wasn't drinking it. Nice atmosphere. I can't wait to bring the rest of the family here! read more

My wife and I re-discovered Pepper's a couple years ago and have been dining here just about weekly ever since. The service is FANTASTIC as is the food. We normally sit in the bar so we can visit with Cassie who always takes care of us, knows what we like to eat (even when do not) and makes the best martinis. She even keeps those weird little olives with the blue cheese filling that my wife loves, for some reason. Always friendly and intuitive, Cassie is our Go-To for weeknight dining. The food as I mentioned is excellent, with scratch dressings, an amazing redfish with crab butter that I would compare to any other seafood only restaurant in town, and a full-breast chicken fried chicken which is just ridiculously good. We will continue going to Pepper's and recommend this gem to anyone (and have done so many times). Overall just a great neighborhood place to go and relax and enjoy great food and great people. I just ate at peppers and the food SUCKED!!!!! My meal was 12.99 and I sent my food back because it was OVERCOOKED, how hard is it to cook shrimp? So they gave me a credit of 8.00 dollars for a 12.99 meal,,, WOW, how nice!!!! I really enjoyed my Ribeye from here. A lot of flavor and the sides were delicious. Friendly environment and affordable. Not used to Southern Hospitality, can't remember the servers' names. I do remember one being tall with long brown hair wrapped in a bun. And the dessert was delicious as well. read more

Well, I've always liked this restaurant. Before today would have given it 5 stars. I usually come for the chop steak which is very delicious. Probably the best I've ever had. However, the last two times I've ordered that I've been very disappointed. Apparently, Peppers has decided to save themselves a few cents by ordering premade chopped steaks. They are awful, smoke flavored, pre-shaped patties with artificial grill marks. The meat (if it is really meat) has an extruded type texture. It's disgusting. A hamburger patty from McDonald's tastes better. I guess I'll be driving over to Luby's (who's chopped steak used to be a distant second to Peppers). read more

I agree that Pasadena doesn't has a culinary tradition but this one definitely overcame my expectations. I ate the Beef Medallions with baked potato and seasoned vegetables. I'll describe it better: - I ordered it medium-well cooked. It came well-cooked, but the waiter was concerned about it and asked me to check if it was the way I liked. Besides I mentioned that in Brazil, usually the medallions comes wrapped with bacon. They promptly asked if I want them to do it in the same way (it was really good btw). - the baked potato could be baked a bit more AND with the cheese already on it (half way), because it was a bit cold. Good though, nothing that ruined it. - the vegetables were the way I expected, and buttered, which I love. The costumer service was just perfect! Really helpful and kind. Nothing to change on this. The meal total was U$37,00 for the two of us (including beverages). To sum up, the food was much better than I expected and the place (old 90s style) looks nice and the costumer service was great! Pasadena isn't exactly known for a vibrant culinary scene, so mediocrity in a restaurant is not unexpected. The decor looks left over from the 90s, and not in a kitschy, charming way. The lunch menu is very well-priced, however; a full meal with sides will run just about as much as a Chipotle burrito before tax and tip. I tried the chicken-fried steak, which was quite large and came with a generous serving of mashed potatoes with a choice of either white or brown gravy. The meal was prefaced with some ok rolls. The food wasn't bad: the breading on the steak was crisp, and the potatoes weren't dry or lumpy, but the grease to flavor ratio was definitely skewed a little too high. The food overall was probably around standard diner quality, but if I'm going to indulge in such calorically dense food, I'd much prefer that the calories be worth every bite. read more

Peppers was good, great service from Elaine ( (THANK YOU!!!) .... had T Bone and crab fingers since my buddy had never had them. A bit slack on the crab fingers and heavy on the fries, but still good. It was a weeknight, so got seated quick, did not expect Ruth Chris steaks for the low price so expectation was spot on.. The gumbo was really tasty and after dinner we went to the bar to finish up discussions. All in all, will be back as I am in DP quite often!!! Elaine made our night even better. Table for six, mid-day, only one other table in the entire restaurant... yet a single, simple appetizer took almost 20 minutes to get to our table. The entree's were average-but-good. Our family seems to love this restaurant for some reason, yet every time we go I'm reminded of why I hate this place. One of the first times we visited it was over a holiday weekend and despite having reservations were left waiting over an hour to be seated. I get it, you overbooked and it happens, but the food should at least be able to make up for it. On a regular day the food is okay. Not the best, but it's palatable when you're out with family and hungry. The holiday buffets, on the other hand, are bordering on awful. They never seem to be able to keep up with the demand for food so every time you walk up to the buffet half the items are missing. It would also help if they bothered to label any of the dishes so you know what you're eating. There aren't very many choices, which would be fine if they weren't so bland. The prices are also a bit high for what you receive. I don't mind paying for quality, but quality is something that is lacking at Peppers. On the plus side, the waitstaff is friendly and generally on top of things. We've always had good service even when our party is large. In short, I doubt we'll ever come back here by choice. There are definitely better restaurants in the area. read more

My first time dining at Peppers and I can say I'm a fan! Food AND service were outstanding. I had the peppercorn rib eye which was cooked perfectly, tender, and full of flavor. Baked potato was fresh from the oven, cooked perfectly, and loaded. I appreciated that a manager was on the floor, checking with tables and talking with guests. Wow wow wow... that is what I have to say when it comes to pepper's. First off I want to start by saying I have been to many restaurants, steak houses and burger joints from classy to trashy. Now to start my review... I bused them on Thursday evening around 530-600 me and my wife decided to try it out we live 3 mins away and I had been curious to try pepper's since we always pass it up. We were warmly greeted at the door by a lively hostess who promptly sat us. Then our waiter came by a tall,skinny gentleman with blonde hair he gave us our menus and took our drink orders. I chose raspberry iced tea my wife had the same. Browsing over the menu we decided to start with fried pickles as an appetizer. Fried pickles: A decent sized serving just enough not under not over in quantity. The pickles held a nice softer yet crunchy texture I'm guessing the breaking helped but what a treat the breading was thin enough to grab and retain its shape and form yet thick enough to provide a crunchy exterior. It was remarkably paired with a homemade ranch dressing that truly was the star in my opinion. But together they were both out of this world picture pippen and Jordan in 96. Yeah like that.. After our appetizer we were served our main course. I chose the Texas cut ribeye 16oz steak with rice pilaf and loaded baked potatoe. Ribeye: just incredible it was cooked medium well I'm not to much a fan of bleeding steak please forgive me....but it was cooked to perfection. The meat wasn't tough it was perfect the seasoning was enough to compliment to beautifully cooked steak. Some say that a good steak needs no sauce and let me tell you truer words have never been spoken before with regards to my ribeye. It was nice and thick as well. The baked potato was perfectly cooked not hard or to side just perfect. The rice pilaf was a yellow rice mixed with a vegetable medley wonderfully done. My wife chose the shrimp pasta. Shrimp pasta my wife enjoyed every bite savoring ever morsel. Shrimp pasta: noodles which were a fettuccine I presume we're amazingly cooked nice and tender yet still strong. The Alfredo sauce was awesome. Buttery and tasty. The shrimp were jumbo shrimp that made the dish splash. It was amazing. All in all for our first time it was fantastic. Our waiter was beyond great never let my cup get below half way, was constantly checking up but not to intrusive. It was his second day but great service. You are truly treated like you are a priority there. The chef came out to see how our food was. Other waiter came by to see how our service and food was as well. Truly remarkable experience. Today on the 13th we headed back. I had the stuffed chicken which was so amazing. The cream cheese spread that was used was insane. My wife order the stuffed avocado. I don't like avocados so I can't wait plain but she is an avid consumer of them she said of all the ones she had this was the best. The service once again was amazing. So it's the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The restaurant is about half full. We sit down and the hostess asks my wife and me if we would like a drink. We tell her we will start with a glass of water. Our waiter comes hands us the waters and asks of we would like something else to drink as well. I order a saint Arnold's and before my wife has a chance to order the waiter disappears. And so starts the night of bad service. All night the wait staff was acting as if it was Friday night and the place was full... Though it was far from it. The food was good border lining on great. I ordered a porkchop and it was excellent. The misses ordered the salmon and she expressed how wonderful it was. Maybe I will try this place again when they are at full staff. read more

One of the best priced and quality places around. Every dish I have tried has been great. The salad dressing is home made, chicken fried steak and ribeye are excellent, plus they have the best baked potatoes (cooked perfectly). This is a family diner with great service and food. This was my boyfriend's and my first time visiting Peppers and I have to say the service and food were absolutely FANTASTIC!! Tina was our waitress and she was so awesome! Very friendly, accommodating and cheerful! I will be asking for her EVERYTIME we come in!! (Although all of the staff seemed very welcoming and friendly!!) I got the shrimp platter and my boyfriend got the BBQ Bacon Burger. The food was so good and very filling! The portions were huge! I had to take half of it home. I've had previous problems with Peppers and had not been there in years. I decided to give them another chance to take my family out for Thanksgiving. The problems started from the moment we arrived. I called the previous day and secured a reservation for 4. When we walked in they could not find my reservation but told me they would fix it. We proceeded to have a seat to wait to be seated and about this time another party of 4 walks in with no reservation and is seated ahead if us. In fact the hostess girl is standing in front of me talking to the party of 4 seated behind me getting ready to take them in front of me. They only took care of me after I made an issue of this. The food for Thanksgiving was served in a buffet style and was very bland and unflavorful. The desserts were bad enough that every one in our party had different desserts and stopped eating them after one bite. This was all for a price of 29 dollars a person. The food quality was about a 6 out of 10 scale and I feel I was not given adequate value for the money. read more

Very friendly & courteous service. We ordered coconut shrimp which came with 8 jumbo shrimp, a pineapple coconut sauce, fries, and a hush puppy. The food was very good and the shrimp were large & tender. When the manager/owner heard this was our first time he brought out a small plate of shrimp creole for us to try. It's not on the menu yet! Yuck. My chicken was bland, so very bland. My baked potato tasted old and burned. The vegetables tasted like they were canned. Everything just seemed like it was fresh from the freezer or a can. Banana Foster was ordered and received a peace of pie. The Banana Foster I have ever had was with Bananas and prepared table side. We visited yesterday and two of the four who dinned did not eat their meal. The manager came around to ask if everything was good and I had to tell him my opinion. The manager kindly took one of the meals off of the ticket. However, the price was too expensive for the quality of food. I would not recommend this location. We visited this location again because we love the slowed down experience and the 1980's style of environment and service. I always order the salmon. It took me three to four times to get the grill guy to cook it correctly before it was to my liking. Great salmon ever since. Today I overheard a server mention the crab cake special with Romalaude Sauce. This is an instant like for me. I was ready to venture beyond my safety zone of delight. After getting confirmed information from my server I decided to order the crab cakes versus my salmon. When I received my dish I was somewhat not impressed. This dish deserves more respect than the sauce served in a plastic 2 oz souffle cup. Furthermore I asked the server if this was blue lump blue crab. She came back to the table and said it was blue crab. Turns out the crabmeat was back fin blue crab and not lump. I only ate one cake. What really made the dish poor was that the server said that the sauce was Romaluade Sauce. I received my plate and the cakes looked very pleasing and had a decent flavor even though the crabmeat was back fin and not lump. The sauce was disappointing and tasted like nothing more than spiced mayonnaise. I asked the Chef if this was a true Romaluade Sauce. He told me it was. He also told me that he made it fresh at the restaurant and that it was a classical recipe. He said that he was from the Cordon Bleau from Paris. Well...I am not from the Cordon Beau and this Chef knows nothing of this sauce. It was missing the capers, the tarragon, parsley and other spices. This sauce was created in New Orleans and not France. If this Chef can make a classical Bearnaise, Maltaise, or simply Francaise Sauce I will order a good steak, chicken or Veal dish if they offer Veal. Don't Lye to me or Yourself. You either know or do not know. If you are trying to cut the costs tell me up front. I will appreciate your establishment more and respect it. Get it right or do not even try... read more

Great steakhouse. Wait staff was very attentive. We had the prime rib special that was smothered in a shrimp cream sauce and the chicken fried chicken. Both were cooked to perfection. I chose the baked potato and salad as the sides; they are one of the main reasons as to why this review isn't one star. Consistently good food & good service. Went there this weekend and it had been a while since we had been there! The place got a little facelift and looks really nice. New awnings and sign and landscaping outside and new fish aquariums inside. I wanted a steak for dinner and there are not a whole lot places in the Pasadena area that you can get a decent one! But Peppers is one...I had the 12oz New York Strip (no fanciness...just meat well seasoned) and my BF had the Peppercorn Ribeye! You better be ready for a little heat if you order the ribeye...the entire steak had crushed black peppercorns. I tasted it...and it was good...just intense! I think I've tried just about everything on the menu. There burgers are nice. Fried seafood is well done and pastas are tasty! Their special of the day are always good. And don't forget dessert...we took a piece of carrot cake home and it was awesome (not too sweet)!! Dinner for 2...
