Went here for lunch on a Saturday. Not real busy, we got seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and our food was prepared quickly. I was the only one that didn't care for my food. I ordered the Gumbo it just didn't taste good to me. But everything else was delicious. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms (baked)--very good!! They discounted the Gumbo which they didn't need to do, I did eat the shrimp out of it. We will be going back here again, soon!! read more

First visit was not what I expected. To start, we were seated directly beside the only other party there. The service was polite and reaching for friendly but not quite there. The decor is confused. It clearly reflects the area in the same confused sentiment. There are neon fixtures that are light green and light pink which match nothing else in the restaurant. The menu is confused as well. This place is advertised as a steak restaurant but the menu also features food from the surrounding area; namely fried seafood, Mexican flavors like fried avocados. Steaks don't appear to the feature. That said, my wife did not enjoy her New York strip. While it was cooked decently (but over medium) and seasoned well, the texture was too chewy (think rubbery gum). The sides were well seasoned which was a pleasant surprise. No, I would not return. My family and I just recently moved to the Pasadena area. We came from Summerwood. Yesterday was my husband's birthday and I looked through yelp to find a local steak and shrimp restaurant. With that said, I noticed that peppers had lots of rave reviews and decided to try it out. I expected the place to be a little bit or somewhat fancy, which it was not,so I was a little disappointed. However once at peppers we received awesome service ,friendly staff and good food. And drinks (spirits). So from my experience I will definitely be revisiting peppers with my family and I would definitely recommend for anyone to try it out you will not be disappointed! read more

I've gotten takeout from the bar about four times, and the lunch waitresses and hostesses could not be nicer. I've gotten the chicken spinach salad a couple of the times, and they put the chicken in a separate takeout container so it doesn't get the salad all soggy on the drive home. They always open all the containers to make sure the order is right. The lunch specials are really reasonable, and if you're in the mood for home cooking kind of food, you really can't go wrong here. So disappointed! Our family brought my Mom here for her birthday. Everything was going great. Heard the staff sing "Happy Birthday" to another group so I was excited that they would do the same for my Mom. Everyone was happy with their food UNTIL my Mom found a produce label sticker in her prime rib! Told our waitress who brought over the manager. He explained it was likely from when they sautéed vegetables and it was left in the pan. Um, should I be more concerned they likely didn't clean the vegetables before cooking, or that they didn't properly clean their pan(s)? He offered to remove the label from the plate but my parents didn't want to make a big deal so my Mom told him to leave it. After dinner, the manager brought her a piece of cake and apologized again. About 1 minute later the waitress brought out the cake we brought to the restaurant and walked away. No one from the restaurant sang. Didn't even bring plates or a knife for us to cut the cake until 5 minutes later. Didn't bring forks so we had to reuse our dinner forks we ate steak with. Then the bill came. NO COMPENSATION FOR THE FOOD LABEL IN THE PRIME RIB!!! When I asked, I was told the piece of cake the manager brought out was our compensation! REALLY? Wasn't the piece of cake going to be free anyway since it was my Mom's birthday? Plus, we already had cake since we brought one! I am so sad this restaurant put a damper on this special event. I am especially sad that PEPPERS HAD THE CHANCE TO MAKE IT RIGHT BUT CHOSE NOT TO! EVEN WHEN I ASKED THEM TO MAKE IT RIGHT, THEY DID NOT!!! Ate there for the 1st time today at the Thanksgiving buffet. The food was amazing, hot, fresh & abundant, even though they were very busy. The GM introduced himself, was so genuinely nice & asked about the service. the owner was there & met him too. Staff was friendly, helpful & all working at top speed. The food was hot, the menu was ham, turkey, prime rib, fried catfish, chicken Florentine, chicken strips, all the fixings, yams, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, huge yeast rolls, stuffing, cajun corn, 2 salads, fresh fruits, boiled shrimp plus 6 different desserts. The ridiculous review who said "employees should look for another job as this restaurant will only be in business for 2 more years" is dead wrong. We already have plans to go back & we live an hour away! Homey atmosphere, attentive staff & the new GM made sure everyone was taken care of & had a great Thanksgiving. I ordered a shrimp cocktail for my appetizer, which is not on the menu but the waitress said that they were happy to serve one. When she placed it in front of me she said that "the reason it took so long was because they had to cook it." I thought that was odd, considering that usually shrimp cocktail is cold, but this shrimp was lukewarm and a yellowish-brown color and for some reason served on a bed of plain salad with cocktail sauce on the side. I tasted one and it was old and gritty. They were happy to remove it from my bill. The rolls were cold and old, and my water glass had a sticky orange substance on the outside of the rim. I was afraid to get anymore seafood so I ordered the spinach enchiladas for my entree, my husband ordered the chicken fried chicken, french fries and a side salad. The enchiladas arrived completely covered with cheese and it took a bit of effort to penetrate the melted cheese and unbaked enchiladas. I'm pretty sure the spinach was frozen not fresh and underneath the massive amount of cheese was a plain white tortilla, which obviously had never seen the inside of an oven. Surprisingly, my husband's food was delicious, as were the rice and charro beans that were served with my enchiladas. Pepper's boasts homemade salad dressing and the blue cheese dressing had no flavor whatsoever. For the first time in my life I had to salt and pepper my salad. I picked out the blue cheese to taste and it was bland also, causing me to wonder whether or not it was old cheese or just cheap blue cheese. It didn't help that I had to remind the waitress 15 minutes after receiving our entrees that we were missing our salad. Also, we sat next to a wall that had a giant hole in the wall paper and a layer of dust on the woodwork around the window. After the waitress took my entree away the (I'm assuming) chef came outside (at this time my husband and I were the only people in the restaurant) and began making small talk with the bus lady. He gestured towards my table while talking and the bus lady looked me directly in the eye while he was talking. I can only guess what they were speaking about, and it wasn't friendly. I'll never eat here again. Also, about a year ago I came here with my in laws and was served dirty, gritty oysters on the half shell, one of which tasted the way that baby poop smells. I hope they sell this restaurant to someone who cares soon, it seems as if it may be a historical restaurant in Pasadena Tx, or at least it used to be. read more

I do not live in Pasadena but was visiting my parents and decided to look for a place I could meet them for dinner. I know there are not that many places in Pasadena and I found this restaurant through recent good reviews. I had an early dinner with my parents, niece and nephews. I had to write this review as we had a great dining experience. We had the manager come to our table a few times while we were dining and checked on us and the quality of our service and food. Our waiter was excellent and it was a very nice dining experience for our first time. The appetizers were great...we had fried green tomatoes and fried pickles. I had a fish dish and my parents had ribeye steaks and our food was wonderful. My father loves dinner rolls and he was in heaven with the fresh baked rolls too. The chicken tenders for the kids were awesome and tender. I know my parents will be back since they live in the area!! read more

My husband and I went last night. I remember when Peppers first opened. It was a higher end restaurant which was rare in Pasadena but the food was great. After we started having children our money was tight so we quit going. The other day we received a coupon in the mail and thought we would go for a treat. Wow far from it! There was 3 people serving tables which only 4 or 5 were occupied in the whole restaurant. Our main server always acted rushed and busy but there wasn't enough people to justify that. We ordered fried mushrooms for an app because of the pictures on here. They were good except it was mushroom pieces. Not pretty whole ones or caps. Also, the serving was about a palm full! There was 3 of us and we each got about 3 small pieces of mushrooms. My daughter got the kids spaghetti. It was basically pasta in ragu sauce. She was so disappointed! My husband got the seafood pasta primavera. There was minimal seafood, teeny tiny shrimp and the taste was just ok. I got a new dish the Chicken florentine - A chicken breast stuffed with roasted peppers, fresh spinach and herbs, pan-seared and topped with a white wine mushroom cream sauce. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THAT! It was a panko fried chicken breast with a canned spinach dip on top!!! Nothing was fresh, nothing was stuffed. Then, 2 bites into our meal our waiter brought over the dessert tray trying to talk to us about desserts!! Also, we noticed other tables getting baskets of bread or something...we never got that. Because our daughters food was so bad we got her dessert to make up for it. I forget the name but it was a HOT brownie with a scoop of ice cream, chocolate drizzle and whipped cream. We happened upon this place purely by chance, but we are so glad that we did. The food was really good and the service was even better. When we were there it was not overly busy, so perhaps that is the reason why this review contradicts some of the more negative ones. There were four of us. None of us had any issues with our appetizers, meals, or deserts. All were of good quality and properly prepared. Our drinks were refilled promptly and the wait staff was friendly and helpful. Our waitress even got our deserts discounted because she felt that they took longer to prepare than what they should have. We did not ask for this or even notice the delay. I cannot recommend any one dish over another as everything that we ordered was delicious. Steaks, seafood, and chicken dishes were all good. The fried pickles made for an interesting appetizer that you might want to try. We will definitely be coming back to Peppers. read more

We had heard from several folks from the Pasadena area including some top officials that Peppers was a great spot for dining in Pasadena. Coupled with a $40.00 groupon I asked some clients if they'd like to go on a Sunday evening. The food was outstanding as was the service. Kevin the manager stopped by our table on several occasions to make sure we were being taken care of. Our bill came to about $60.00 plus tip. That's when it began to fall apart. Our waitress originally said we should have shown her the groupon before we ordered. I said "what difference does it make, its just $40.00 going toward our bill". She said "let me check with the manager". After no more than 20 seconds she came back and said "we can't accept the groupon" . Why not? Well it clearly says that each individual has to order an entre and the two ladies split an entre. I was about to ask to speak to the manager when my wife said "just pay the bill and let's go." We paid and added about 18% for gratuity and left. Got home checked my groupon and it said "must order one food item". Did not mention each person or an entre, just a food item. Called the manager Kevin who was amazed that she didn't take the groupon and said that she never spoke to him about it. This server needs to serve the customer and let management handle the rest. She misspoke to us twice telling us that she had spoken to the manager and that the groupon said that each individual must order an entre. We'll go back but a different server please! read more
