such a cute coffee shop, i love the aesthetic. i've been meaning to check this place out for a while. i got three bags of beans (each bag of beans comes with a free small coffee and you can get them ground if you need to.) their merchandise was adorable, we got a hat and some stickers. they do have alternative milk options. the free small coffee that came with the beans was really good. it was nutty and not bitter at all. it doesn't need sugar even if you always drink your coffee that way! read more

This place knows their beans, Do you know what I mean? Their coffee just makes me feel so serene. Come down for a brew, Yes, I'm talking to you. Hot, iced, or nitro in a space that's mad coo'. Perkatory is my new favorite spot in Middletown. The place is amazing on so may different levels. The thing that I immediately noticed during my first visit was how nice and welcoming the employees were. Huge smiles, very passionate about their product, and big supporters of the local community. It also helps that the owners are Packers fans (GO PACK GO). Then I ordered an iced latte and my world was turned upside down. So good. The last few times I have gotten the monthly specialty drink. Last month's was made with pumpkin, and this month's is a latte made with maple syrup from the Durham Sugarhouse. All I can say is "holy smokes". They also partner with a local food truck to sell doughnuts on weekends, and from what I can tell on Instagram they hold live concerts and events from time to time. Plenty of private parking. Just go down the gravel road to the right of Eli Cannon's and it will be in the big warehouse-like building on the right. read more

What a gem of a place! Its got personality from top to bottom, and in every nook and cranny... including their staff. Joe and Johanna (the owners) are also the sweetest people ever. I love their overall mission and they welcome everyone in like family. They carry tons of different brews, lots of snack options for all dietary needs, occasionally have a donut truck stop by, and they make one of the best lattes I've ever had (which if you knew about my caffeine addiction - you'd trust me on that.) I wish I lived closer because I would definitely make this my regular hangout place. Amazing, beautifully smooth cofffee; great parking options; fantastic owners. First of all, I love the skeletons. Perkatory is definitely busting out heavy hipster vibes w/ cute afterlife novelties dispersed throughout the shop. Initially, I'm impressed to see 2 rooms: the entrance (equiped w/ dining tables & chairs) & the main dining area (located further back w/ checkout, baked goods, & amazing coffee). I appreciate that customer parking is available even if the parking lot is crowded & shared w/ other local businesses. read more

Coffee shop with serious character. Obsessed with the theme of the shop and skulls all around. Came here on a Sunday morning to get some work done. Space has plenty of seating and a lot of natural light. Large size lattes to drink in come in that xl mug that's almost like a bowl- my favorite. Staff was friendly and answered all the questions I had on on their special lattes. We tried the maple latte and a standard latte both were awesome. Selection of baked goods was small but they also had the rolling doughnut on site! Great addition to middletown! This coffee shop has some really good coffee. They have anything from specialties drinks to drip coffee. They have a good amount of tees for selection as well. The area has a punk rock grungy vibe to it. They don't have much to eat except a bagel or muffin so if you're looking for food I would walk across the street to the diner. Light roast is great and worth a try, but overall as a coffeehouse/chill out spot Needs some Tweaks to really work: Good: The light roast is very smooth, easily drinkable, and left me highly caffeinated. Caffeine is a drug and I truly felt that. Mixed: The location is almost industrial. It's tricky to find at first, the street looks like you are driving into the auto mechanic's driveway, reminds me of when I used to live in an illegal factory loft and I love this entrance. Feels special like finding a secret! The drawback is the high ceilinged space isn't cozy and warm. I had my coat on almost the whole time. Hopefully as time goes by and this place gets broken it it can get visually warmer. Heating the place might be quite a challenge though. Bad: my Brie and herb muffin was SO STALE. Even toasting/warming didn't help. It was also shockingly sugary not savory. Pricey too. Meh. read more

I drive from Windsor to their Middletown location just for a Killer Beez latte. They've been a refuge for getting out of the house during quarantine. They are offering walk up and drive up through the Cloosiv app so ordering is contactless. My friend and I social distance from our cars on our coffee dates. It great to get out of the house, support a local business but stay safe while doing so. The Killer Beez latte is my favorite but you can't go wrong with any flavor or none at all. This new funky themed coffee house and roaster gets an A for effort. But they get a C for execution of an Ethiopian pour over. Frankly I expected better. While I was told it was a light to medium roast and it was the lightest roast that they offer, it was not a bright light fragrant interesting exciting inviting cup of coffee. I have higher standards probably than their regular customers so I won't be back. Likely they won't miss my business because I think this place will attract young people, edgy types -- people who want a cool and funky place to hang out. I really enjoyed the baked treat. It was moist and worked well with the coffee. In fact it made it far more enjoyable.A great place to try especially if you like the darker more intense flavors of coffee. One thing I have loved about Perkatory from the start is they are very approachable and down to earth. Some coffee shops you walk into can feel intimidating and exclusive but not this place. Every month they have a featured latte and a couple of other offerings specific to that month which is nice. The bagels are outstanding, I usually get the cheddar and it is my favorite by far. You also can't go wrong with their pastry items. My only complaint is I ordered a drink and someone else grabbed it and left before I could say anything. A number system or name call out would take care of that. Don't let that deter you though, this place is awesome. read more

My friends and I love to try coffee shops around CT and this was my first time stopping in at any of the Perkatory locations. I was super impressed! The vibe of the shop is very cool and welcoming, the barista I encountered was very nice and helpful. My friends and I were able to sit for a while and talk without feeling the awkwardness you sometimes feel sitting in small coffee places. One thing I really value about a business is consistency. The first time I tried this place it was absolutely delicious. I got an iced mocha latte and it was perfectly made. I liked it so much I decided to come back (within a week) for another. The iced mocha latte I got today was tasteless. Needless to say I was disappointed. I understand business have off days, but this time it wasn't just off, it just wasn't good. I couldn't even finish the drink. Overall, I may try again. This industrial vibe coffee shop is located right next to Eli Cannons (down the public parking driveway next to Eli's). It's a huge space so it would be great for a group meet up too.
