We were visiting from out of town and looking for a nice but casual meal after a long day of traveling and we were happy to find Pesto's. Their pizza was PHENOMENAL and even good when we reheated it the next day. So was the prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich and their side salad and dressing was crisp and refreshing. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine from their selection along with a Tiramisu that had the right balance of sweet and light cream. I would go back to try their other dishes and specials. read more

Service was top notch...filled our water regularly as they passed by and brought our dishes promptly. Ambience was nice. We sat right in front of the huge saltwater aquarium which was relaxing to watch. We ordered "The Works" garlic bread for starters, which was a meal in itself. Delish with sauce. I ordered the Pasta Greek, which was recommended, but quickly realized I was not a fan. It turns out it was too "light" for me...I prefer sauces in my pasta. My hubby ordered the pasta saltimbocca, which I very much preferred and the portions were definitely large; made more than one meal. I would order his dish next time. read more

Pesto's is one of our go to restaurants that we just can't get enough of. We hosted my parents 50th anniversary here recently and they were so accommodating. We always get great service here. Everything was so delicious. However I always get tempted by the specials that they have. Today I tried the Salmon Piccata special and it was to die for. My wife had the lobster with pasta and she said that it was amazing. My parents loved everything and Pesto's made sure that they were taken care of. I highly recommend Pesto's. We've been going to Pesto's for quite a while and went back recently. Their pizza and salads are not cheap but their pizza and salads were always pretty good. Unfortunately, their pizza crust leaves a lot to be desired now. If they invested a little bit more money and brought in a decent or good pizza dough for the pizza crust, it would make the experience a lot better. Their salads aren't bad but not as good as they used to be. They have increased the price but put fewer items in the salad and the salads are now smaller. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be penny wise and dollar foolish when you're charging top dollar. The service was still pretty good since we were the only ones in the dining room. read more

Pestos kitchen is a classy and intimate little dine in. I have been here for date night over a dozen times and it never fails to amaze me by the quality of food and service. I also take anyone here to impress. Whoever is cooking the food is doing an amazing job and the recipes are delicious. Drinks are also yummy and strong. I recommend the Antipasto Salad, Calamari, Lasagna, White Pizza, Pesto Pasta and Fettucine Marinara pasta they have. Another plus is every week there is specials for new things to try. As we pulled in Saturday around 4:30, we realized we had been here before (we try to go someplace new every week) but then we thought, what the hell, we remembered it being good the first time. Well, this second visit was just as good! We opted to sit inside and enjoyed sitting beside the large fish tank. Our server, Daniel, was pulling double duty as the bartender, and he did a wonderful job juggling both jobs. We each ordered a different drink and although I thoroughly enjoyed the French Pear, I must admit my sister's Sidecar was slightly better (more sweet vs tart). The olives were served warm, the charcuterie board was plentiful, and the meals delicious. The starters filled us up that neither of us finished our meals, but there was no way we were passing up the tiramisu this time. Oh. Em. Gee. It was huge! Light, airy, sweet, mouth-watering goodness. If you have not eaten at Pesto's, you have to give it a try. FYI that they do take reservations and on a Saturday evening, if you eat around 6 o'clock, you may want to make a reservation. I love to try new places. I must have drove by this place hundreds of times. I never knew it was here. I was across the street a few weeks ago and saw the sign. I decided to take my wife here for a weekend Valentine's day dinner. I love the look of the restaurant inside. it is very nice and cozy. We sat outside because the low tables were reserved which was fine because the weather was super nice. The server was really nice and prompt. I got the chicken saltimbocca and it was excellent. I loved the sauce and the noodles that the stuffed chicken breast is served on. The sauce was a marsala sauce but creamy which was new for me. The chicken breast was stuffed with prosciutto and sage. The flavour was really good. In my opinion this dish is one of the best that I have ever had. I loved how rich it was. The tiramisu was different from the traditional style I am used too. It was really good. I will definitely get the tiramisu again. This place is really good and I will be back. read more

This review is more of a food based review, although our service was great as well. We came here based upon a friend's recommendation and since we don't drink, ordered only food. However, if you imbibe, you have come to the right place.. There is a huge selection of wines and drinks that far outnumber food and classify it as more of its specialty as a wine bar rather than italian food. I was looking forward to a marsala chicken, but no such luck. Instead I was treated to an enjoyable linguine and white clam sauce. It had a large amont of clams. It was a bit more wet from the "sauce" and a tad over salty, but quite enjoyable. I am sure it would pair well. The beet salad is a salad with beets, not a true beet salad. It also comes with avocado- so warning if you have an allergy. The description read "avo" and I am allergic. The waitress was especially kind and helpful. Overall, once we ate it is was good as we love beets, and the ingredients with Kale was great. The pesto and pasta was a bit heavy and overwhelmingly too much of the same, even though it has a combination. We got it with chicken and the sauce was thick and almost dry. The garlic bread was not that great. I am sure the limited menu appeals to regulars and I bet the pizza would be great. While the menu is limited as an Italian restaurant, The high tables, aquarium and atmosphere are a bit puzzling. My Italian palate yearned fo more, but I am sure many will enjoy it for its other choices read more

Had a phenomenal first time experience here at Pestos yesterday. Great variety of lunch specials. I choose the calzone and house salad. All ingredients were FRESHHH! Food tasted so authentic and delicious! Great portion sizes. My server was Kareem whom provided great hospitality, did great table checks as I was eating, asking if I need anything. And she was so kind to box up my left overs. Truthfully a 10/10 experience! Cherry on top they gave me a rose at the end of my meal. I hope everyone in the valley comes checks out Pestos. A really cozy, delicious italian place! First of all, I gotta give props to how many options there are on the menu from pizza to calzones to pasta to every single dessert you can think of, I swear I spend like half an hour trying to figure out what I want here. I got the chicken saltimbocca, and I absolutely loved the sauce, it was so rich and flavorful. I don't know if pasta is considered comfort food, but this pasta definitely comforted my soul and stomach. I also got the tiramisu, and it's probably the best I've ever had. Super moist and creamy, but with the right amount of sweetness. The presentation for everything here is also beautiful! I went here for the first time with a friend and we were seated right away without a reservation which was very nice since it was quite busy. The inside is pretty and I especially liked the fish tank with beautiful big fish swimming around! My friend ordered an iced tea and I asked for a hot tea. They brought out this cute box with assorted teas and let me choose which and many bags I wanted. I thought that was a nice touch. We shared the shrimp cocktail and my friend got the linguine with clams and I got the wild mushroom sacchetti. Both were really good! The presentation of the linguine was a little plain but the taste and portion was enough to make us both comfortably full. The portions could have been a bit bigger. The pasta dishes both came with a pice of seasoned bread. Overall good experience, would go again to try their happy hour. read more

Was really hoping this would be our new neighborhood Italian place. The reviews are so stellar. When we lived in San Tan Valley, Baci Italian Bistro on Germann was our weekly date night. When we moved to Phoenix Guiseppe's on 28th was the next. We are so used to family run Italian, handmade pasta, thought this would be the next since we moved to Tempe. The service was great. All tables were reserved when we went in at 5pm on a Saturday, but they said they could accommodate as long as we didn't stay past their 6:30 next reservation. No problem since we don't linger for dinner. There are no booths, mostly high top tables, a few table 2 low seats opposite one another, that's hard for a date night. What we didn't expect from the reviews or the menus posted is that EVERYTHING is a' la carte, no salad no bread, unless you pay to have it added. And there were multiple dishes that had been posted previously by patrons that were no where to be found in the menu. This is EXPENSIVE. For my husband and I, one entree each, lasagna for me, 4 shrimp and angel hair pasta for him, one water and one soda was $55.00 after tip. For him 3 of the 4 shrimp were cooked well and tender, the 4th was rubbery. My lasagna was ok, just ok. Both were served on cold plates (a huge peeve of mine) with a slice of garlic bread (also cold). I would have no problem paying $20-22 for a dish if it was a "knock my socks off" pasta. It would've even been ok if it included a small salad or a basket of bread. The basic pesto pasta I wanted to try was $17 with an additional $5 to add chicken, and an additional $5 for a side salad. $27 per person with no drinks is pushing it, unless it was absolutely amazing. Pesto's is a little hidden gem in Chandler. We've been here a few times now and have enjoyed our meals and time at the restaurant. They have some happy hour specials from 2pm-6pm daily (which is nice they include the weekends) if you're looking for drinks & small bites or of course, you can order from a full dinner menu. The atmosphere is great, casual for an evening out with friends or family, but also cozy for date night. We've tried a few items from their menu along with the lighter bites from their happy hour menu. So far, I've been most impressed by the eggplant parmesan! Their marinara sauce is actually really good, which absolutely makes this dish. My husband got their calzone & really liked it .. very cheesy & a big size. Haven't had one yet but I noticed that their pizzas seem like a popular option too. The restaurant is pretty small. There are tables inside & for the cooler AZ months, they have heaters out on the patio. The couple of times we went, there was a little bit of a wait but they do take reservations. If you're planning ahead, I'd definitely recommend trying to snag a reservation to guarantee seating at the time you want. read more

What a FANTASTIC restaurant. For any occasion whatsoever, this spot is for you. Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The staff is happy to be working and is so friendly. The atmosphere is great whether you sit at the bar, in the dining area, or outside. It is a very small place and you might experience a wait, but please do yourself a favor and wait no matter how long! They also encourage you to call ahead! The food is another plus too! Amazing Italian food. If you are craving pasta, the item to order is the Ziti & Grilled Chicken Pasta. The pesto Alfredo sauce and the marinara garnish go hand in hand and really complete the dish. If you are looking for a pizza to order, you really can't go wrong, but the Pesto pizza is a great choice. The sauce is unbelievable and like no other pizza. Our party of 5 had reservations on a Saturday night. We were seated right away. Not too sure about the bar-height table and chairs. A little odd. The food was your typical Italian-American. It was good and filling. The calamari appetizer could have been better; it smelled a little fishy. FYI - fresh seafood should not smell fishy. The desserts were tasty. Everyone raved about the gelatos. The tiramisu was a bit non traditional but okay. Nice wine list and cocktail menu. The one thing that annoyed EVERYONE was the loud music. It was a packed house on a Saturday night. Didn't need the loud music also. We could barely converse with each other. Hey, it's called "background music" for a reason. Will we return? Back in Chandler, AZ. 2 good friends of mine recommended we meet up at Pesto's. They raved about the place. We sat outside on the patio immediately upon arrival. Servers are very friendly and remember returning customers! First, I tried a piece of the pizza they ordered. Being a pizza snob from Chicago originally, it didn't impress me anymore than a frozen pizza from the supermarket. Maybe if I loaded it up with the same ingredients I normally like on pizza, I would have been more happy. The shrimp marinara I ordered though, was extremely tasty! Plenty of huge shrimp, a small piece of tasty garlic bread, and pasta. The marinara was sweet but delicious. I felt they were slightly priced too high, robbing them a higher rating. The pizza was weak. But their service and entrees were fantastic! Update: Came back a second time. I had to knock a star off the for terrible service. The first time we came here, the service was slow due to backed up to go orders in the kitchen but the servers were very nice. Tonight, we sat for a hour before we end we up eating. We were sitting inside for 10-15 min before being greeted by our server. We ordered our appetizer and main meal at one time since we had plenty of time to figure out what we wanted. The appetizer and salads came out quickly. The food took 45min.... for shrimp marinara and a chicken dish! No update from the waiter about the delay was. When I asked the waiter what took so long he just said they were busy and quickly dismissed so he could get back to the bar and talk with customers (we watched him just talking by and not pouring drinks... so he could have updated us). Very disappointed after my initial impression of the restaurant. Food was still good. In the end the waiter removed our appetizer from the bill which was nice. We just want communication. read more

Our family of five dined here this weekend and everyone was very impressed with the food and service. We started off with the crispy calamari which was delicious and not chewy or greasy. Two of us had the chicken parmigiana and it was my favorite. My wife had the lasagna and it had great flavor. The linguine and clams were also a favorite and the bolognese special was delicious and different than what I've had before. To finish the dinner we split a piece of tiramisu and it was large enough in size for each of us to have several bites. Very moist and flavorful. This was a great spot in a strip mall in Chandler. We went to celebrate one of daughter's birthday (17) and had a table of 13! The staff was amazing, kept drinks full, table organized and people happy. I will say this is a small spot and a party of 13 is a big task. The food was great! We had appetizers, dinner and desserts! Italian can be tricky and easily fall into the level of mediocrity. Pesto's did not miss.
