Then they stayed with us for all the big and little questions. Our pup came to us with everything he needed for a soft landing, especially great advice! On top of that, you can feel good about this group. The work they do for shelter and homeless animals in the community goes above and beyond. By adopting our little guy, we got a love match, but also cleared a space for Wags and Walks to rescue someone else. Win win!

We've foster failed a couple dogs, helped place another through our online community, and poured a lot of time, care, and emotional energy into helping these animals. Despite that, we were repeatedly met with rude, dismissive, and condescending communication from staff, coordinators, and even veterinary partners both via email and when we would take the foster in for appointments. What was most frustrating was seeing the urgency around training and behavioral support suddenly disappear once they learned we were moving forward with adoption. The concern for the dog's behavioral needs no longer seemed to matter in the same way. Given the adoption fee of $500, we also expected a much higher level of communication, support, and behavioral follow-through than what was ultimately provided. Rescue work should be rooted in compassion for both the animals and the people volunteering to help them. Unfortunately, the way we were treated made it clear we will not be fostering with this organization again, and I would encourage others to think carefully before fostering, supporting, or adopting through them.

We've had him since he was a puppy - his mom was rescued by Lange and was pregnant. Last week, we adopted 3 year old Tobey (black terrier). The application process was completely easy. The staff reached out right away for a meet and greet. They were super accommodating when I wanted to come in a day early. They answered all the questions we had regarding Tobey and let us know of any treatments he's currently in. After the meet and greet, we knew that we wanted to bring Tobey home. Sure enough, we came back the next day with Tobey. Bruno and Tobey are still getting used to each other, but I'd say that Tobey feels right at home. If we were to adopt another dog, this is the first place we'll go to.

Animal Care…read morewears a person out so it's understandable but the staff was more than willing to show me around and tell me about the shelter. It's an extension of the PD so their campus isn't huge, and they have one building of dogs and a room (plus a quarantine room) for cats. They're half police and half animal control essentially so they have to respond to field calls as well as keep up the facility. For all that work they still have welcoming attitudes. That's one of the biggest complaints I hear working at the shelter is no one cares and staff is unsympathetic. Not so here. Not when I came on a Saturday eve anyway. As I said it's a small spot for a small city. Santa Monica has better government than LA, not in small part due to the land area they cover, quantity wise and demographic wise. My biggest gripe about LA is it's too big which is why gov is so inefficient. It needs to be broken up into more smaller cities. Right now we just have SaMo, culver city, and WeHo with proper municipal status basically. This whole city is like 10 more cities to me. But I digress. Good shelter, as good as one can be given how low a priority it is at city hall.

But despite this and the recent negative reviews, I went anyway. There needs to be more oversight with this particular facility. The people there clearly do not know what they're doing, are very unprofessional, unorganized, and rude. I adopted a kitten who was still quite sick, despite being reassured several times that she had recovered. They adopted me out a cat was too small to get spayed, and did not have her first round of shots. I have had to make several appointments with them, missing work in the progress, all because of their lack of organization, communication, and professionalism. It's tough writing a review like this because I understand that it might affect other people visiting this humane shelter and adopting out beautiful animals that deserve a home, so I hope this reaches someone in charge and they rethink who is running this facility.

Only to realize already in the process that no these dogs are bejng bred and sold and used for "puppy parties" selling to just anyone off the street. Which is terrible the way things in Los angeles are. They did not even question me they just wanted the cash to give me the dog. There was no process and it was clear they wanted money. DO NOT USE THIS "foundation" if you care about the wellness of doggies out there especially with this cruel pandemic going on. If you have knowledge on animal rescue you know how terrible and ignored things are right now.

They informed us that the dog had multiple applicants, and that the adoption fee might decrease over time if interest remained low. We scheduled a meetup near a Petco in Hawthorne. They arrived a bit late in a large white van with multiple dogs in crates--some appeared anxious. The process felt a little hectic since other adopters were scheduled around the same time. The adoption fee was on the higher side and included vaccinations and spay/neuter services. However, our dog was too young to be fully vaccinated or neutered, so we had to schedule those appointments later. Unfortunately, we later learned--through a professional groomer--that the dog we adopted was not a poodle as advertised, but a labradoodle.

My second experience was terrible. After my puppy was killed while with me on leash by a reckless driver, I later returned to L&L to look for a new baby. Different set of employees, and both my nephew and I were shocked that one of them seemed to blame me for my puppy being killed. He was rude, insensitive to the circumstance, and he did all he could to throw up roadblocks to helping me. He was an expressionless jerk who had zero empathy or professionalism. I contacted the manager about this, and though she three times promised to call me back, she never did. This is heartless behavior for a place that is supposed to be doing good. I will never go back to that place again. The only reason this is not a 1-star review is because my first experience with them was good. That appears to have been an anomaly. They have touched my heart in so many ways, for so many years. The photos attached below are from our last recent event, partnered with Subaru and Ozzie and Friends. It was the best day I can remember In a long while, it was so enjoyable to be of service and productive. I have a long history, it's been a decade volunteering on and off with Karma Rescue. But I'm Not here toot my own horn. Previously Karma provided animal adoptions and I adopted two of my sweetest dog friends from Karma. Karma has always been kind and wonderful with their volunteers and the wonderful animal services they provide to our fur friends. Currently, they provide spay and neutering services to low income communities. At low to zero cost. Which esp, for many animals keeps them safe and extends their lifespans. We have an event to thank our donors this weekend in El Segundo, and I'm looking forward to it as always. Annie Ward is a gem of a human and manages us volunteers. If you have a moment to volunteer, bring in yr fur friend for any services, or would like a meaningful tax write-off: please keep Karma Rescue in yr thoughts.

Gina, who fostered Teddy (aka Max) for the first few months of his life, was so friendly, helpful and completely upfront from day one. Teddy was absolutely adorable, and yet she let us know all his flaws right off the bat. We highly recommend the forgotten Dog foundation- they are passionate and fantastic at what they do!
