Ok I feel like I need to update this review...maaaaaaybe I was little quick to judge after they gave me back a giant fluff ball of a dog. A couple days later and after giving him a bath at home, his hair looks much more normal. I understand why they brushed him out (to make sure he doesn't get matting), but I DO think that they should have spent time with me helping me understand what they were going to do, and that they should have been very specific about what they were going to cut. It was his first grooming appointment ever and I wasn't given any expectations. Maybe the guy at the front was having a rough day, I don't know - but better communication would have made this experience much better. This place SUCKS. They don't give 2 shits about you or your pets. My dog has been in agonizing pain and they haven't helped in the slightest. Different doctors giving you different information and instructions for the exact same medications. We went in because our dog has been in pain and we weren't sure why but she just had a clean bill of health a month ago and the stupid nurse is telling us we need the same blood tests again and X-rays on top of that before even examining her lmao. I have been to this locations a couple of times. I only come here for my baby's food. He is extremely picky and only eats the Whole Hearted brand (Petco's brand). This location every time I have been here is always clean, well stocked and never busy. I think this location is much more clean than the Rainbow location, so I prefer this one over that one. read more

One of the nicest Petco in town, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The store is clean, organize and easy to navigate. However, the reason for my 5star rating is based on the service we recieved from the grooming saloon. My family and I have been coming here for awhile and we always get the same friendly and knowledgeable staff that are accommodating to our needs for our Promeranian, Cosmo. They are consistent with schedule appointments and finish in a timely matter. Most request are taken into consideration but they provide great feedback in what needs to be done and give different options to what you prefer. Depending what you want and how much you want to spoil that special four legged friend. Special shoutout to Fabian in the grooming department! He has great customer service and very helpful with any concerns you may have. I personally reccomend him for any dog owner looking for a great groomer. I have used this location a few times before to get my dog's hair cut. During the past visits, the cuts received was second rate. My most recent visit was the deal breaker, I observed the rough handling of the dogs by the groomers and my dog received the worst cut ever. I WILL NOT BE BACK! I encourage all dog owners to go elsewhere. And also avoid having your fur baby handled by Narda and the buffoon walking around with the dyed blue beard. I like this Petco for a number of reasons. This is were I take my dog Vegas to get groomed. They always do a good job ! He's a little older and is also a larger dog (red nose pit bull) but they are good with him and we appreciate it. They send me an email every time his bath is due and we've pretty much stayed on that same schedule since they started doing so. I can get pretty much everything I need aside from a specific joint supplement that I give him daily. This place isn't just for dogs hence the name ! I have a 15 month old miniature poodle that I have brought to the Petco Summerlin location for grooming a number of times beginning December 2022. I was told then that he was a difficult puppy to work on but hopefully he would be better as he matured. There were a few visits after that, some good, some not so good. In September his groomer, Zoe, told me he did very well and this was evident by the exceptional grooming she did. I scheduled him to see Zoe again in October. He seemed agitated in the car and was very confrontational on arrival. I left there thinking I'd get a call to pick him up without being groomed. This would not have shocked me and I'd have much preferred it to the outcome I actually received. Upon pickup Zoe informed me that she needed the help of a second groomer in order to get the job done. The "job" is awful. His hair is botched and he actually has bald spots. His nails were cut not smoothed by grinding as I always request. She then told me he was not welcomed there again for fear he "would hurt himself" during the process which I assume is code for "he's just too much trouble". I looked everywhere to find the sign that says WE ONLY WORK ON CALM WELL BEHAVED DOGS, but I couldn't find it anywhere within the facility or their website. I had a bit of a wait at pickup and three of the much larger dogs leaving with their owners were rough, wild and one even a little scary. None got the "don't come back" speech. I waited a few days and called to speak to the manager, Ashley, who I never met but who sounded like a child on the phone. I asked her one simple question. Why did you work on him instead of calling me and asking me to pick him up? She reiterated how difficult he was and said that she was the one who stepped in to assist Zoe. However she never answered my question. My message to Petco Summerlin is simple. You may think you're done with us but in reality we are done with you. Word of mouth is a powerful tool. read more

1st time here. Took my two yorkies in for grooming. Setting up appt and entire service was easy. Only complaint is how long it took for the grooming to be completed. Booked the appointment online for one pet. Called store to add another one with same time. Dropped them off at 1:45 pm on a Sunday, they were not done until 6:30 pm. Price is not bad with $46 per dog for bath and haircut that also includes nail trim, anal gland expressed, and ear cleaning. They gave me 25% off for first time client so total is $34.50 (no tax) with discount. My boys got the summer cut and they look great! No accidental cuts or spots. They even trimmed the hairs that grows between paw pads. I feel relieved that they will be cooler this summer. read more

We brought in our dog for a haircut, a nail clip, and a shampoo with Ashley R. When picking him up, Ashley disclosed that she was unable to do his claws. Other than that, she sang him praises, gave him kisses and happily accepted her 20% cash tip. We were disappointed with the haircut: it was patchy and she completely missed his back leg. We thought - no big deal, we've had great experiences with Petco in the past, so we'll just try a new person next time! Well... it is now time for that haircut again, and when we called to make an appointment, we were informed that our dog was "referred out" (aka permanently banned from Petco Grooming). Ashley made a note on his record that he was difficult to work with and that they refuse to provide us grooming services in any of their nationwide locations. Our dog is 7yo - he's had dozens of haircuts in his lifetime, and we've never had an issue before. If there was an issue this time, I would expect Petco/Ashley to communicate that to us when we picked up the dog instead of learning about it 2 months later. All we got at pick-up was "He is such a good boy, see you next time!" Surprised, confused, and highly disappointed. Would not recommend Ashley as a groomer: the quality was lacking and to to top it off, this whole incident is just so unsettling. read more

This review is directed towards the design of the vets front area only !!! The store itself is great , grooming is great... what I have a problem with is the location of their new vet care... as I picked up my dog from groomers a medium size dog came out running from the vets and ran outside unleashed , owner ran out in a panic screaming the dogs name which IMO made things worse , The doors were open as the pup ran out and she nearly got hit by a passing car , as the owner made chase she ran back towards the store and again a car stopped for her.. The way the grooming is set up with waiting area closed off is perfect to protect pets from running out, who ever designed the vet area wasn't thinking about the safety of pets .. maybe they need to consider adding some sort of gate or door to keep the dog inside the waiting area , a rope does nothing ... I have 4 dogs , 2 are runners, I won't be using PETCO's vet services for that reason! My dog's safety comes first! read more

I signed up my dog Oliver, a Schnauzer Poodle mix for Petco's adult dog classes because he was aggressive with other dogs. When we arrived he couldn't meet or even walk by another dog without lunging, growling, snarling and barking. Keoni was amazing! Right off the bat he helped me calm down my high anxiety dog and take command of him while we were on walks. My nerves were making the issue worse because I was always worried baout his own safety and other dogs' safety, and Keoni helped give concrete steps/tasks that I could do to improve on my own. He also showed me how to properly introduce my dog to new dogs both on and off leash and how to politely correct him when he misbehaved. A few months out and Oliver is a different dog. He loves his daily visit to the dog park and always wants to meet new dogs. I would never have believed it was possible but I am so thankful for Petco and Keoni for helping me keep my dog and other dogs safe. Oliver is a happier, more well-adjusted dog and it never would have been possible without their help. read more

They no longer do price match. I've been going to this store for years. Never again There princes aren't even comparable to Petsmart or Chewy. When I used to save quite a bit when they would offer the price of a competitor Heaven, the manager said they don't do it anymore, even though I showed her the cost at chewy, almost 40 percent cheaper! This is a review for the grooming salon. I've been taking my puppy here to Ashley and Elizabeth, who have done a wonderful job in the past year. However, the past two times other groomers did his haircut. The time before last they messed up his haircut and cut the part of the hair I was growing out for a really long time, to be able to put it in a ponytail so my dog could see. I thought I always had good experiences so I would come back to the store. Most recent time I visited I was told that grooming was done by someone named Yecenia, who, according to their info on the wall, is not a groomer and is only supposed to bathe the pets. First of all, I waited to drop off my dog for 10-15 minutes inside the grooming salon while the staff up front were calling and calling the grooming staff. Then Yecenia came out and acted really rude, as if I came in late, didn't acknowledge my wait, and told me that based on their notes my dog is "difficult to deal with." I asked the groomers not to pick him up by his legs because of a bad knee - that cost me another 10 minutes of arguing back and forth. My dog had mats in his hair that I asked them to clip, and instead they did a brush out and added it to the cost of the haircut. Yecenia wouldn't let me see my dog until I paid, because "some customers run out" and it felt like my dog was being held hostage. She kept staring at me through the glass the whole time I waited in line to pay. When she called me to pick up my dog, her words were "hurry up, we close in 45 minutes." I asked to borrow the disposable leash while I took my dog to my car, and she also refused that. Overall she acted extremely rude and unprofessional. My poor dog left with bald spots and uneven hair, so I finished the grooming process at home. I'll give petco grooming another try with the groomers that I'm familiar with next time. But the extra charge, the wait, and the rude staff were not pleasant. My dog was shaking for two days after that, so I can't even imagine how he was treated by Yecenia. Very disappointed. read more

I needed dog training after having my dog for just a few months and not knowing how to teach him tricks I decided to sign up for the petco positive dog training. They have different packages and didn't know which one to get. The one I picked ended up being $350. Pretty high price tag but I figured if I could get some good training out of it it would be worth it. The trainer I used was keoni who seemed a bit young and only had a year's experience doing this so I was a little skeptical how good he would be at it. But he did impress me in the long run. My dog learned sit, stay, down, come here (but they use the command line of "touch" for this one), and go to your bed (the command is "place"). My dog seemed to automatically recognize that keoni was the alpha and did what he said. The real challenge was getting my dog to do what I said. That's where keoni really helped me out. Honestly he was more of training me how to interact with my dog so that my dog would do what I said. Keoni taught me some other important things like don't chase after your dog when he runs off. That was actually a life saving tip he told me. He said it was important that your dog comes when called and that's what he taught my dog to do. A month or two after completing the dog training I was at my sister's house and we had left toto at the house while I went to go get something out of the car. When I went to go open the front door toto dashed out the door. He was in an unfamiliar place and I thought for sure I was screwd. My pregnant sister screams when she realizes that toto took off and drops her stuff she is holding and falls to the ground. We both were in panic mode. Then I remembered what keoni taught me...never chase after your dog. So I then I put into play what I had learned. Used the command "touch" and he came back!! He was just a foot away from a busy street. It really could have been a complete nightmare situation but because of this training it has a happy ending. my sister ended up getting a bruise on her hand but everything was ok with the baby....thank god! After the training course was completed they give you a form to send off to the akc and you have to send them $10 to recieve your star puppy metal. So I did that too. Toto and I plan on going back to get his akc good canine citizenship test done. Dogs have to be over a year old for this certification. Since toto just had his birthday recently we will be doing that soon. Also petco on Saturdays offers a free puppy playtime hour where you can bring puppies under a year old to go and socialize with other puppies. It's held in the same area they do the dog training (located in the middle of the store in a sectioned off area). Dogs of all sizes can go and some of the puppies are actually quite large and it's not a very big area for all those puppies. My dog didn't seem to like puppy playtime too well but all the other dogs seemed to be having a blast. I guess toto is just spoiled by the dog park we go to everyday. It would have been a lot better if the puppy playtime had a larger space area though. One time I thought I would be thrifty and thought my dogs nails were getting too long so I got some dog nail cutters and trimmed my dogs nails myself. Well turns out I didn't know what I was doing cause I cut his nail too short. Toto starts bleeding and I freak out. Called my sister and she said to go to the nearest pet store and that they would know what to do. There is this stuff you can buy that you put on the nail to stop the bleeding(looks like cornmeal). So that's what I did. I rushed to petco and the employees there were awesome! I ended up talking to one of the groomers who actually gave me some of the stuff to make his toenail stop bleeding and she gave me a little bit to take with me in case it started bleeding again. I wanted to get his nails trimmed since I thought they still needed trimming and she looked at them and said they didn't need to be trimmed at all. that they were actually at a good length. I offered to pay for the stuff she gave me to stop the bleeding but she said there was no need for that. Super cool and amazingly awesome!!! Needless to say I've never tried to trim his nails myself ever again. But 5 stars for petco and the awesome staff! read more

This place is close to my house and they offer the brand of dog food that I need for my dog. I came in last week to get Blue grain free dog food and some other soft food and their prices seem to be the same as Pet Smart. I found what I was looking for really fast and I was checked out by a friendly clerk. I think the whole trip in and out took less than 10 minutes. I also enjoyed the fact that I got to see some baby ferrets. They were the cutest thing ever! I'll definitely be coming back to this location. Thanks PETCO!!! read more

I can give a zero star if I can. My dog was diagnosed with parasite and they gave my dog a very small dosage of medicine. I didn't expect that to cure my dog at all. In order to confirm the parasite was gone, I had to pay for another round of fecal exam ($50). As expected, the small dosage did not cure him. Now they are giving me another round of medicine and asking me to pay for another round of fecal exam to check if he still has parasites. In addition to that, I called 3 times to ask if the prescription is ready. Every time they would say it would be ready in one hour. When I eventually come in, they told me they haven't filled the medication and it took them half an hour to do so upon my arrival. All they want is your money. They don't care about your pet's health or your time whatsoever. STAY AWAY! read more

My fiancé and I moved to Summerlin in December and decided to adopt a pup one weekend! Our Bailey is 7 years old and has major anxiety and severe issues with his teeth from his previous home. He only eats his food with his tongue because of his poor teeth and wasn't eating anything I would buy him. I have had pets in the past, but never with an issue like this. I was totally lost. I went to this store and was helped by the sweetest women to find the best food for him. He absolutely LOVES the Whole Hearted brand and gets so excited for meal time now. Everyone here is so kind, even the other customers give him tons of love. We have been here 5 times since adopting him two weeks ago because it is his favorite place to visit (seriously, even just to say hi). They even gave us a 25% off coupon to take him to get groomed there. Kudos to this Petco. You guys rock. read more

Do not groom your dog here. I regularly groomed my dog for years with Justin - I thought he was kind and caring and did great work. However, yesterday I had an appointment and a terrible thing happened. I dropped off my dog and then came back about an hour and a half later. This is th usual time for pick up - they told me my dog would be at least another 45 minutes. Ok, I understand being busy. But something seemed odd. Well, sure enough I picked up my dog over an hour later and he has a three inch gash..and you couldn't touch him it is so sensitive and red. It was a significant gash not a nick. It is a serious wound. My dog can be active and playful so I would understand if an accident occurred. But to hide the same? To really hurt my dog and never say a word - Unacceptable. Yesterday we took our Scottie to the Petco in centennial for upgraded grooming services. And Im sorry but your groomers on saturday 05/15 did a horrible job and wanted to charge my daughter $85 plus tip after cutting to bald spots on each side of my scotties head in front of the ears !!!!!!! And of course the groomer who did this HORRIBLE cut was gone when she returned to pickup our dog !!!!! SO my Daughter was told there was no charge for this terrible cut which I think they were already aware of ??? and she still gave them a $25 tip ! If it was me there the tip would of been non-existent ..But she took the HIGH ROAD which was OK. Sadly Petco will NEVER groom our dog again !!!! This is specifically for the Vetco at this location. It's sad to see people who aren't dedicated to their purpose. I scheduled an appt to get my puppy seen at this location at 5:15. We arrived 8 mins late. The receptionist then says that she's going to have to ask the doctor if he will still see us. As she goes back I look at my phone and it is 5:24 so here I am confused as to why she would need to ask. She comes back and says that he's going to have to reschedule us I then ask what their policy is and she says it's a ten min grace period and proceeds to argue with me that I arrived RIGHT at the 10 min mark when I made it a point to check the time when I arrived. If you want to go home just say that but don't argue with the client about arriving WITHIN the policy grace period. Even if I arrived RIGHT at the 10 min mark like she stated that is still within the time. Needless to say I definitely don't want to give a facility like this my business who clearly don't care. My husband bought Playology Squeaky Chew Balls at Petco in November for my daughter's French Bulldogs who love balls (one pictured below). They are supposed to be for heavy chewers. Unbeknownst to us, my daughter's dog managed to chew out the plug in the ball on two different balls and swallowed them. He got very sick and wouldn't eat. He passed one of the plugs in a bowel movement but the second one had to be surgically removed. These balls are not safe and because they are scented the dog things they are food. read more
