i feel bad giving only one star but when my little dog's white fur is as dusty grey as when I dropped her off for a bath, what else can I say? That was a wasted $30. In addition, I made an appointment, arrived at the correct time, yet it took 4 hours for the bath! And she didn't even come out looking clean. Beware groomer #017. It's where the pets go! Me too. Great store - always easy to find someone to help. The two people that work with the fish and turtles - you two are great! Tall guy - named Tracy and the lady that caught the two Jack Dempsey's we wanted - she was AWESOME. I am so sorry I don't remember her name. She spent time refreshing me on how to care for my tank (it's been 16 years since I had a tank), and how to care for our fish. I won't ever go back to Petco. We can pay premium prices for our pet care but they cannot leave restrooms unlocked for humans. Not the kind of love my dog shows people. I certainly don't wabt people who turn their noses up at homeless people or too good to clean the restrooms make a corporate living off my pet. What a sham. Don't expect any love here. They no very little about their products either. It corporate was screening the products tge staff would be educated. I'm in tears to think I've spent thousands of dollars here over the years. I was in the area and needed supplies for my rescue critters, so I stopped in. It seems they have just about everything and the store is tidy, but I was in a hurry so I didn't get a really thorough look around. I found most everything I was looking for immediately, and a helpful clerk approached me and showed me to the one thing I couldn't find. read more

I've been here on a couple occasions to purchase toothpaste and other items, excluding food, for my bichon. They don't seem to have many people working there since I've found service to be very slow. Once I stood at the front counter waiting to pay for an item for more than 5 minutes, with no employee in sight. Luckily I rarely have to come here. read more

The BEST grooming experience ever! We requested Evan since he came so highly recommended. Our 7 year old Golden Retriever is terrified of groomers but she was immediately reassured by Evan. She just melted in his arms and you could see how much he really truly loves dogs. He patiently listened to my endless list of requests for my Airedale. When we picked the dogs up I was thrilled with the clip done on my 5 year old Airedale. He looked ready for the show ring. Our Golden looked equally stunning and both smelled divine. But the best part....instead of bolting out the door, our Golden wanted to stay and hang out with Evan! If you've tried this Petco location in the past and were not happy I can guarantee you it must have been before Evan was on staff. Give this place another try, you will be so glad you did. read more

Brittney has groomed my small dog Kona several times now and she never disappoints. I'm so grateful to have found her. It is abundantly clear that Brittney loves dogs and cares about the fur babies she grooms as much as I do as the owner. She's very gentle, never rushed, and extremely thoughtful in her grooming. She keeps my dog's safety and security as her number one priority. My dog used to be so nervous about getting groomed but since we found Brittney, her anxiety is visibly reduced each time. Without a doubt Pet Co, Palm Springs, CA is among the worst, most unprofessional and totally incompetent dog grooming service in the history of the profession. My advice to anybody who is contemplating taking their dog to Pet Co in Palm Springs would be to first take photos so that you will have them available when you go to court. After make a reservation in advance the manager, KARLA, said it would be approximately 4 hours to groom and bathe my rare Pedigree Springer Spaniel. The task was beyond her expertise apparently, because she asked the most rudimentary questions revealing that she possesses no knowledge whatsoever about one of the world's most respected breeds (A breed often depicted in the portraits of British Monarchs, extending back to the fifteenth century). To add insult to injury after the four hours had passed, KARLA phoned to say that she could not complete the job according to breed specifications, and that she had clipped the dog nonetheless (confusing the Spaniel with a Terrier and ruining the dog's classic pedigree appearance). I would have given this place a one star, but my encounter with Gloria, the young woman at the register was exceptional (she gladly signed me up for reward points). However, this same experience is not applicable to one of the worker's on the floor. Today, August 11th, 2019 at approximately 12:45pm I approached an older female Caucasian worker with wavy brown shoulder length hair (and a fanny pack around the waist) to ask if they had eye drops for dogs in stock. She rudely told me "no," that I need to take my dog to the vet, not buy anything there. I then proceeded to ask if there were any alternatives that they had that I could use in the meantime, and once again, the woman rudely responded "no" and proceeded to walk away without asking if I needed help with anything else. I had to take it upon myself to walk around the store until I found the product I was looking for. The store did indeed have the product, which was completely inconsistent with the information the woman had provided me with. This woman should not be working in the customer service field if she cannot genuinely help customers and their fur babies. read more

I brought my dog here while in Palm Springs on vacation for a groom and bath. I noticed later in the evening after picking him up that he had suffered a deep and serious cut to the inside of his leg. The groomers did not mention this to me at the time of pick up but had instead used liquid bandage to close the wound. It turns out it needed stitches, but by the time I was able to get him to the vet it was too late to close it properly and had to heal on its own. I was upset that they injured my dog, yes, but I was furious that they did not tell me about the wound. It was clearly in need of stitches and was not the type of wound you can glue shut. Attempts to address my concerns with the store manager were met with polite but empty apologies. I absolutely will not be returning to this or any other Petco location. read more

PETCO is convenient and fairly well stocked. Two things have prompted me to write this review and to give the store a low star rating. The first has happened consistently. When it's time to checkout there is no one at the cash register and I've had to wait many times. The first lengthy time found the cashier at the tag machine assisting a customer while the line grew and several people waited and waited and waited. There was another employee on the floor that was walking around and could easily have been called to the front to assist the customer with the tags. I waited over 6 minutes and I was at the front of the line while others waited longer. The employe was neither apologetic nor in any hurry to assist the four or five people waiting to pay. I've waited many other times and today I was walking toward the cashier and she walked away! She went over near the aquariums and was talking with someone and completely ignored me. I waited and after a minute or two she told me she would be over in a minute. The person she was talking to seemed to tell her to come and assist me and she did. It turned out the person she was talking to was another employee. The second issue I have is out of date dog food. A couple of times I've gotten home only to discover I had purchased an out of date item. Today I bought a pricey bag of dog food for small breeds and forgot to check the date, got home and after I opened it found that it was not out of date but only has about 3 weeks to expiration. No small dog could possibly consume this in 3 weeks. I have a Yorkie and a Maltese and between the two of them they won't come close to finishing 1/2 of the bag before it expires. Customer service can certainly be improved upon. read more

This is a review of the Vetco clinic at the Palm Springs Petco. On Nov. 13, 2015, I took my two dogs for a simple annual heartworm test. There were about 10 people ahead of us. I soon noticed that the vet that day was extraordinarily slow. Instead of the usual 5 or ten minutes I have seen in the past to give a shot or oral medicine, she would take 20 minutes or more, during which almost nothing seemed to happen except chat. Even when she began to administer a simple shot, it would take several minutes of checking and positioning and discussing, etc. The Vetco employee in charge of the forms, who said he was the manager, was totally passive, failing to warn customers of the wait, or talking with the doctor. He told me she was a substitute, that he had never seen someone so slow, but that there was nothing he could do. Everyone in line was commiserating about the ridiculous experience. More than two hours passed before we saw the vet. She was very awkward in doing the shots. She put the needle in the paw of my first dog, and kept poking around for over a minute before she drew blood. She was worse with my second dog. She poked around for a couple of minutes with one needle, gave up, and started with a second. My dog, who is never scared of vets, screamed when she inserted the second needle. She kept poking to get some blood, until she gave up with very little blood in the tube, prompting my concerns that there was not enough. At this point, I was so late and fed up, I asked if I could avoid another 1/2 hour wait to get the actual medicine (no doubt another twenty minutes), and she told me I need not do that now. This morning, having got the test results back finally, I realized I had not been given a prescription, and would have a hard time buying the medicine. I called the 800 number for Vetco. The first four people said my only choice was to go back to a clinic and get a vet to write a prescription. They refused to contact the vet I saw who forgot to write it for me, and they refused to send me medicine directly from their online store, despite all the paperwork that I was there, I paid and my dogs passed their tests! After asking for supervisors I got the head of the Call Center. He said he had no authority to override the policy, but he could try to talk to Corporate, and he offered to refund my money as an alternative, which I took. So now, after 2.5 hours at the clinic, and one hour at the phone, I will be back to starting anew with my regular vet. HAVING GONE FOR ONE SIMPLE TEST TO SAVE MONEY, IT ENDED UP COSTING ME HOURS OF MY TIME FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Of course, I will never risk going back to a Vetco clinic. As a former executive and founder of a company, I am astounded at the way customer service in this country has been ruined with the advent of call centers. The Centers are designed to have ZERO authority to do anything but cite company "policy" regardless of the errors that call for a company fix to remedy a situation. Zero communication is open directly to Corporate execs, who sit far away, either by customers or even Call Center employees. Instead, the Centers are based on statistics that show that very few people will, like me, wait to talk to four or five different people, and then bother to write down their experience. But it is sweet deal for uncaring Service Vice Presidents and CEOs. After a customer gives up, the Call Center marks the call as "resolved". Each week the Customer Service VP will prepare a fancy Power Point Chart for the Management Committee that shows all calls were answered quickly and resolved, and Management will congratulate themselves, and work on their bonuses, until the day frustrated people finally stop using their sub-par services. read more

I purchased some dog toys a few days ago. The sign said 50% percent off. I checked out and looked at the receipt the next morning thought there was a mistake. I went back to the store and showed the cashier the problem. He told me there was fine print and that he had other upset customers as well. The 50 percent off is on products that are not even in the same area. This is very misleading. read more

I recently had my Mini Poodle groomed there and not only did they do a terrible job (I had to take my own hair clippers and trim around his eyes, nose etc) but then they had the nerve to charge me an extra "special handling fee" of 15%. When I called and asked why the girl told me - "we charge that if a dog is hard to handle". I have been there before and never had that charge or never had anyone tell me that my dog was "hard to handle". He is a 12 pound mini poodle, how in the world could he be "hard to handle???". Very unprofessional and not a good grooming session. I will be sure to go back to my usual groomer (PetSmart) next time. read more

I take my pup for a bath and nail trim fairly often and have only good things to say about Evan who works in grooming. He's great with the dogs. The store is clean and well stocked, only complaint is that it sometimes takes a long time to checkout. Seems like there aren't many employees and the ones who are there aren't usually at the registers. Overall though, good experiences at this store. read more

this petco... sucks.... i seriously spent a little near 400$ on saltwater fish and equipment. to bad every fish they have is in a reclusive state of internal parasites, they offer help curing the parasites but at nearly 20$ a bottle and they dont back ANYTHING. they fired the only helpful person there so now there is basicly a bunch of people who dont know anything about animals running a store. its awsome i really suggest you come here and burn the store down. only go there for anything NOT LIVING. except mice. they even sold me a snake under a wrong name, it wasnt albino they just lied and charge 20$ more. guess thats my fault for being guliable and trusting people who work at a PET SHOP. for fish go to a store called ZEN in Palm Desert. read more

I took my elderly terminally ill dog to be groomed this morning. Evan, her groomer listened patiently to all my concerns. When I returned to pick her up 4 hours later I was greeted by a happy, perky and beautiful looking dog. Thank you Evan - Great job! read more

I'm writing to disagree with previous posters about customer service and grooming service at this Petco location. On two recent trips to the store, the same friendly cashier was near the checkout and speedily came over to process my purchase as I approached the front of the store. I was able to get a grooming appointment on day and time I requested by calling two days in advance. The grooming service was very satisfactory, finished earlier than expected, and less expensive than some other groomers. I will shop and use the grooming services at this store again when visiting the area. read more

not real please with petco in palm springs. walk in to the store and just happen to pass the water turtles. when i notice about 20 turtles in a not so over large tank with one rock sumerge in water leaving no room for but one turtle to rest. all the turtles were at the glass clawing at it. they were basically drowning. i immediately flag down the customer service and manager. walk them over to the turtle tank and they respond to me " whats wrong" they were unable to recognize the turtles were drowning and desperately need a large rest spot for at lest ten animals. instead they only had a rock with a space for one turtle and they were trying to pile on top of each other. the manager thought this was just fine. i was so sadden that the care these turtles were getting were in the hands of poor judgement. i lve here in palm springs for 10 yrs. this was my first time in this store. this was boreder line animal cruelty. i will definitly share this story with other people. read more
