This is specifically for the grooming. The staff is kind, service pleasant. I have taken my mini schnauzer here a couple times. It is very easy to get an appointment, reason being that the grooming is just okay. I give specific instructions, pretty basic ones, and they are pretty much completely disregarded. It is the Walmart of grooming, but with Neiman's pricing. Way overpriced for what you get, nickel and dime you for everything, which I wouldn't mind if the grooming was even average, but it's not. I wouldn't recommend having your dog groomed here unless you are in a bind. UPDATE: Gave one more star. Went in and told manager that I was unhappy with my dogs' groom and she refunded me in full without issue. I appreciate the willingness to make things as right as they could without any grief. read more

I've been coming here for 20 years and have spent alot of money here, today I was turned away when I came in to get my dogs nails trimmed, they told me that her rabies vaccination had expired Dec. 14th, now I know for a fact ( because my husband is a Physician assistant and is trained in this field) that there have been no kown cases of rabies in dogs in Maracopa county so this is not a real threat however her nails may end up hurting her if she doesn't get them trimmed soon. The problem I have is the crappy customer service you get when you've been a good customer for 20 years you'd think they would be a little more flexible, I also tip them way over 20% when I have them trimmed, I've been past on my rabies shots before and I was never turned away, I won't be coming here anymore I'll give my business to someone else who appreciated having regular customers come in, this really makes me sick. read more

My experience is with the store and staff. I have to say the staff is always very knowledgeable and helpful, in particular when it comes to my fish. I have even called the store and have gotten a lot of help for my fish! The store is always clean and has what I need at a good price. I appreciate that even though they got rid of regular fancy feast for my cats, they replaced it with the naturals that isnt too much more expensive. read more

The store manager at the Petco on Talking Stick Way in Scottsdale is extremely rude and does not follow the company's return policy. I returned 15 boxes of Catsip milk; 13 were never used and 2 were empty. These boxes are very small. My 22 year old cat who had cancer loved this product. Unfortunately she passed away so I returned the unused boxes. My other cats would not touch the milk. The store policy states they will take a return if your pet doesn't like the product. These were small boxes so there was nothing I could return. She refused to refund me the 4 dollars for the two other boxes. She showed no empathy that my cat had just passed away from cancer. I called her store today to tell her that her behavior was inappropriate. She hung up on me. Even though messages were left with the district manager to call me she never did. Evidently Petco doesn't care if they lose a customer over 4 dollars. This store manager needs a major attitude adjustment. Hard to believe she is a manager but this is Scottsdale where anything goes. read more

Stay away from the fish Department. The lady is very rude and snobbish and thinks she knows it all. I've worked at petsmart. We know how to take care or some fish. And then to be a brat and deny us four fish and only Gave my son three. Oh sweetheart you don't even have the right to refuse us fish. You can give us the information and then it's our responsibility if they make it or not. I can understand other animals, but I know the rules on how the service goes, and what you did was not right. And then to be rude on top of it. You must be fun at parties :D read more

This is my go to Petco. It's close, convenient, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I love being a pals rewards member since I get a $5 off coupon for every $100 I spend in store or online. They carry the brands I prefer, like Blue Buffalo and Dr. Elsey's (best kitty food and litter ever btw) and have sales often. Also, the fish are well cared for and healthy. I love that they do pet adoptions and give you an option to donate to animals in need. Kudos to Petco, I hope I always live close to this location. read more

Took my two little doggies in today for a cut/groom here. Wow! We never expected such a great service from Petco. But they look fantastic! My blind Shit Tzu was a bit of a pain (he's been blind since age 2, now age 11-- and, well, he's a Shi Tzu-- so what can ya say?). They called shortly after we dropped them off to say he was just too difficult and looked very stressed (eyes were super RED and bulging). They called back a bit later, though, saying they had a more experienced groomer coming in soon, so they agreed to have him groomed/cut. by that groomer. But know that I totally understand their frustration with him-- Shi Tzus can be a real pain in the arse-- even when they are NOT blind). We went to pick them up expecting the worst hair cuts, but they were fabulous looking-- very clean, and their cuts were amazing. We'd be back, for sure-- but we are moving out of state. Wow-- this place is surprisingly good and highly recommended by us. Really good!!! Thx!! read more

Just like every other chain pet store, however this particular store's customer service was great. Not only did the lady spend time comparing kitten foods with me, but she gave me a ton of tips (since I am new to cats!) When the food I wanted was out of stock, they had 4 people working on checking the back and calling nearby stores to find the food for me! read more

I love this location! Everyone has always been so helpful and friendly when I go in. My fish had eaten a rock from the fish tank that got stuck in his throat and I had no idea how to get it out. Though the lady I spoke with could not give me advice, she did give me a suggestion of who I could call, which was AZ Exotic Animal Hospital. They had answers for me and that was what I needed. This is for the vet clinic. Don't takeout pets, they advertise no office fee with shots. But there IS NO office exam except for listening to heartbeat and weighing them. I got no advice for my new kitten. No feed back weather they look healthy, they also don't make it clear if you don't come back within the time frame you have to start all over and pay again even if your late one day for kittens 2nd round of shots. read more

I bought pet lessons for my dog in Jan 2018. the class started the next month and we attended 2 classes when we were told the instructor would no longer be there. We were told a new instructor would take over training and they would contact us to finish classes. months went by and I called a few times only to be told they do not have an instructor. I ended up taking my dog to another place for lessons. I was then told I would get a refund or store credit for the balance of the lessons from Petco. I have been to the store 4 times only to get the run around. lots of excuses. the manager is not in, I need the receipt, I need to talk to a new trainer (who never contacted me). only to get to today where I was told I would not get a store credit or refund. This has been a complete rip off. I went in with full faith only to have them break the contract. I will never do business with Petco again. read more

reptiles, specifically the leopard geckos, are in HORRIBLE conditions. absolutely no escape from the light, no calcium supplements (which they need to prevent MBD), and WAY too many geckos for a tank. all the geckos were laying on top of each other and were malnourished. one had even dropped a tail which, if you know your stuff, doesnt happen too easily with leopard geckos! this guys tail mustve dropped from either mishandling by employees or being beat up by its many, many tank mates. I spoke with the manager previously, asking if she could provide another hide and push both hides against the wall so that the geckos have some escape from the light, and she said she would. i also complimented her on the fact that there was no sand in the enclosure but what do i see when i return?? still no darkness for the geckos and SAND SUBSTRATE! for those of you who dont know, sand will build up in a leopard geckos (especially a young ones) intestines and KILL THEM as its not digestible and cannot be passed. i would NEVER get a reptile from here, they are all sickly looking and unresponsive and NOT WELL CARED FOR. furthermore, the chameleons had no hiding place, filthy water, and only one measly rope to climb on. guinea pigs, who are amazingly intelligent and social creatures are isolated from each other. these rodents are communal animals and there needs to be at least 2 to a tank. WILL NEVER COME TO THIS PETCO AGAIN. MANAGER IS UNHELPFUL AND THE QUALITY OF THE SMALL ANIMALS BEING CARED FOR HERE IS EXTREMELY POOR read more
