I have dined in several different Peter Changs at different locations and I love this location the best so far. They offer more AYCE menu items here than the one in Gaithersburg while the price is the same. The food is good and I love the Spicy Dry Fried Bamboo Fish and their Pork soup dumplings. Worth to mention that they offer Lamb Skewers here, which is great. They basically keep the dishes and bowls from Meat Up, which I think is a great fit due to the proportion of the dishes. The restaurant interior is pretty much inherited from Meat Up, the previous restaurant, which is good. Service is good and really quick. However, it is always a challenge to find a parking space there. I am not sure if they will be able to work with the neighboring building to get some additional parking spaces. read more

Being a fan of Chang Chang's Mala Crispy Pork Belly and Golden Mountain Beef, I was really hoping that those would be carried at Peter Chang's Kitchen here in College Park since some of the dishes carry over. At the College Park location, I've only had dine-in and had the scallion bubble pancake (too greasy and ot's the curry sauce that makes the dish!); shredded potato salad (this is a HOT dish!); dry fried red pepper chicken (too spicy!); Osmanthus honey pork rib (okay); and crispy sesame beef (good). Parking is a nuisance because it's slanted style galley with not much space if others aren't courteous parkers and street parking on days ai've gone during the week are packed. Tucked away in College Park, Peter Chang's is definitely a cool spot that's worth checking out if you're in the area. The service stood out right away--our servers were friendly, attentive, and everything came out pretty quickly, which always makes a difference. That said, the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. It's pretty minimal and doesn't have much personality, and at one point they were playing Central Cee, which felt a little random for the vibe. Food-wise, though, it delivers. The Mongolian beef was honestly really good--flavorful and cooked just right. The dumplings were also solid and definitely worth ordering for the table. It's a new Chinese restaurant in the college park. It serves both small tapas and big sharing dishes. We liked the food so much that we went back within the same week to try more dishes. The prices were amazing. Affordable for students. The food was great and tasty. The atmosphere was casual. The temperature was low, I wondered if there was heat. We tried appetizers, cold dishes and hot spicy food. All were excellent. I'm eager to to go back to try more dishes. I'm very impressed with the service. Wow. Im not originally from Maryland but anyone in the DMV should try this place at least once. My friend and I did the all you can eat menu which I believe goes from 11am -3pm. Everything was so delicious, good portion size and the service was fast. We may have tried 10 or so items. Honorable mention would be Mongolian beef and shrimp dumplings. I never leave reviews under 4 stars. If I'm not a fan, I won't post. Other yelpers will let you know how bad it is! I'll explain my 3 stars shortly. I met a friend here for lunch today and waited 56 minutes for our order. We had the first reservation which is when it opened. There were barely any customers during the lunch hour. I didn't say anything until the 45 min mark because my friend and I were catching up. When I flagged down one of the managers, I told him we have been waiting awhile. He asked us what we ordered and then told us they had some issues with something in the kitchen. I said, if there are issues just tell your customers there might be a wait because of (whatever it is). Customers appreciate it when they have a why. To say nothing until asked is awful service. Servers were obviously new and only checked on us once our food arrived. We saw one guy who sat waiting as long as we did, just pay for his drink and leave. I know it's a new location but Peter Chang restaurants are all over the DMV, so I know they know how to run restaurants. Hence the 3 stars! As for food, I loved the handmade noodle beef soup. It's a large bowl with tender beef and wide noodles. Great flavor! The pork soup dumplings were okay. They fell apart before I could get it on a spoon. I would go back for the bubble pancake with curry chicken dip. The spicy Dan Dan Noodle dish was very spicy so if you think you can handle it, go for it, but otherwise ask them to temper the heat because the chili powder flavor overpowered what ever flavor it was supposed to be. Food is decent but the ambiance is dingy and creepy. This place used to be a kbbq place and seems like they reused all the dishes/glassware from the previous owners. They still play kpop music videos on the tv screens. The only windows are at the front of the restaurant so the whole space is a little dark. The exposed cement floor is also cracked and uninviting. Our two water pitchers were broken and most of the tables are wobbly. The waitstaff have little cardboard pieces on hand to stuff under the table legs to make them less wobbly. read more

As I always say, I'll try anything once. This location in particular wasn't what I expected after reading the reviews for the one in Columbia, Maryland. My friend and I decided to try this place. They're located where Meat Up used to be. We loved Meat Up so much that we thought, "Yeah, this place is going to be just as good." Boy, were we disappointed. Here are some things that happened: Half the menu was unavailable. I wanted Boba tea, but they said the only drink they had was passion fruit. Pictures of food that aren't on the menu. Had to ask for everything multiple times. No tea cups, because they didn't have Boboa, I settled for a pot of jasmine tea. Warm water with no ice. Service was just okay. They also charged me for items I didn't order. They credited that money back to my bank account fortunately, because initially they offered to give me a restaurant credit. I declined. They also still have some of the decorations up from Meat Up. I get that they're new, but don't open up unless you have it all together. read more

From what I have learned, Peter Chang took over almost immediately after MeatUp closed. I knew they were coming, but I had no idea the turnover was going to be so fast, haha. When I pulled up, I saw the MeatUp sign next to the dumpster at the end of the parking lot, poor thing LOL! My friend arrived a few minutes later, and we went inside. Didn't make a reservation, so just told the staff we wanted a table for 2 and we got seated. It was mostly empty and I immediately noticed that the tables in the front section were new. We were given menus, including a section that was brand new to the location. We got a water carafe almost right away, but it oddly took 20 minutes for us to make an order. Staff were walking around but it's like they were waiting for us to signal them and tell when we were ready. Not sure what that was about, but eventually the lady who sat is was the one who asked if we were ready. Once we got to this point, everything else was fine. If either of us were in a hurry, it might've been a bigger issue. I decided to order the three pepper chicken with rice, which they indicated would be an extra $1. I appreciated the transparency. It was a delicious dish, but no way as spicy as flavorful as what my buddy got. But it was still quite enjoyable! As we ate, I couldn't help but notice all of the MeatUp decor still throughout the restaurant. I wonder if they're going to keep those neon signs or evolve to look more like their other locations? Anyways, I'll be back to try more, and as long as they improve that initial service, they're good to go. read more

Also the food just wasn't that great. Protein came out. We asked server about our rice and he said another server was getting it. Also the pan fried pork potstickers were kind of plain. I like the ones from Costco better. The pan fried chive pork shrimp patties were good but small and they charged 9 bucks for two pieces! The food is always delicious and you can get sides for a good price that are still filling. The restaurant itself is very quiet. The only thing I would fix is the service. When we sat inside the restaurant it took a lot time to get the check and there is not a lot of staff available to flag down. I loved eating at Peter Chang's for the first time. Before we talk about the food, let's start with the service. It was fast and accommodating, and the inside felt modern but homey. I would 100% recommend getting the pan fried dumplings. I love my dumplings crispy on the outside but soft and firm on the inside. These dumplings not only met, but surpassed my expectations, and was genuinely one of the best dumplings I've ever tasted. I love trying something new when eating somewhere for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect with the spicy lamb hoof, but like the dumplings, it was delicious in a way that was unexpected. The lamb was soft and tender, while the hoof broth was rich and flavorful. I saw the handmade noodles on TikTok and knew I had to try them so it was perfect that I could get them as a side for my lamp hoof. Everything paired well together, and I loved it so much that I ended up getting another round of dumplings to go. I would recommend Peter Changs for anyone trying to find somewhere new to eat or just a casual place to grab something with some friends. read more

I am a huge fan of all things Peter Chang and this restaurant doesn't disappoint. I am surprised by the low ratings because it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in and around College Park. It is true that it is in a space that was many things but never even passable cuisine. So that said, the feel of this restaurant is a bit retrofitted but the food stands on its own. I have eaten at this particular restaurant a couple of times and I have found the food and service to be excellent. They have a good menu and as a vegan I have a lot of choices. read more

Very good food, good ambience, service was quick, short and to the point, very friendly staff/service over all. Peking duck was flavorful/juicy, honey ginger tea (not pictured) was delicious very well balanced, kung pao chicken was spicy and flavorful. I will be back again. 10/10 just a little cold in there, heater might be broken but I get it those are expensive systems to repair or replace. They have space heaters. Worth the small sacrifice. We attempted to eat at this restaurant tonight but after sitting for 20 minutes with servers walking past us without taking our order, we had to leave. The place may be understaffed since it's grand opening because either no one was assigned to our section or poor Jose was overwhelmed. The hostesses were nice but also failed to recognize that no one had taken our order or checked in with us. I hope others have a better experience than us while dining in, I'd suggest takeout or delivery orders after this experience. read more

DO NOT BUY THE PEKING DUCK (IT'S A SCAM). I am writing a review based on an incident that occurred at this restaurant. I purchased the peking duck that is lauded as a speciality of the restaurant and quickly realized that the quality was not up to par. Having had peking duck in New York City and Philadelphia, I've come to expect high quality and delicious taste regarding this dish. At this particular restaurant, I was saddened to realize that I was served two thigh pieces and a leg of duck with crispy skin scattered on the meat pieces. This was presented as peking duck. I raised the observation to the waiter and he brought over the owner/manager who went on to give an excuse that did not make any sense to me. He said that peking duck is prepared differently across China and that this difference was conducive to the quality of my meal. Yeah, tell that to someone else, buddy! Peking duck is peking duck and anyone knowledgeable about this dish would recognize the scam that this restaurant is running regarding this dish. I must also say that I felt sorry for the lone waiter who was working at the time of our visit. Because he had many customers to service, he often did not pay much attention to us, including our orders. The manager was worse...aloof and seemed not to care about us and definitely not about the quality of the food at the restaurant. I will not return to this establishment. Had dinner here for the first time last night with my husband, our baby daughter and my in-laws. Overall we enjoyed the food, the service was friendly and the food came out quickly. We ordered mainly Chinese dishes (fried rice, general tso chicken, beef and broccoli) and everything was good. We wished they had larger plates because we ordered several of the tapas to share. It would also be nice if they had tea cups, they only had small metal cups which got extremely hot with the tea in them. There really aren't any decent places in the area that serve Chinese food so this is much better than the other options. I have never been to Peter Chang restaurant. I was really impressed. My wife and I ordered 3 dishes initially to share... all vegetarian. A "farmers" plate, and two others. They were all good, and the one I just mentioned was fantastic. We did ask for some chili sauce on the side, since we like it spicy. The portions were on the smaller side, which was perfect since we were sharing. And I guessed that, as each dish was around $9. We then ordered their hand-pulled noodle dish in chili sauce. Wow that was amazing. Total for 2 people and take home was around $50. In addition, the atmosphere was casual with jazzy music in the background. It was really relaxing with a good vibe. Service was fast, food was hot. Overall, one of the better restaurants in the College Park area. My wife did not order a bubble smoothie, but noted the prices -- and will likely be back weekly just to order those with a lunch. read more

The manager doesn't know anything not even how to refund you or find orders on the menu on the register. Took me 15 mins just to order take out. Take out came I was harassed to pay for my food bc the receipt said pay on it. I told the waiter I already paid he looked at me like I was lying.
