The staff was amazing. We entered in the restaurant at around 9:15 when they usually close at 9:30. They didn't tell us no, they asked us to place our order real fast so they can get us the food right away. Probably one of the fastest services I've had. The place looks minimalistically simple and not much going on but the food is great. We had the eggplant fries and it is easily the best dish on their menu for a vegetarian. They also confirmed with us no fish sauces, no eggs, no beef/meat sauces in our vegetarian choices. The numbing peppers in ma po tofu is great but their fried rice are instant hit. They go well with any of the other entrees but can be enjoyed on their own as well. One thing they could improve on is the pricing for the amount that is being provided but other than that, I would definitely come back again. read more

But, for this $$$, would rather go eat at lao sze chuan. We tried two small plates and an entree. Crispy pork belly: is this actually pork belly? More like crispy all purpose flour with a hint of pork. Fried eggplant: way too bland - needed more salt / spice. Scallop and shrimp entree: the biggest shocker... $35 for what looks like a small frozen shrimp & MEH scallops. Doesn't taste like anything (again, bland). If I made this at home, would be 1/4 the price AND taste better. Not to mention, this dish is what our server recommended :/ I only give two stars because they do have daily HH which is nice... but even with the HH discount, I don't know if I will go back. We went last night for dinner with reservations! We ordered a lot as we wanted to try a little of everything. We did the bubble scallion pancake and it was definitely Instagram worthy but just okay taste wise. The pork dumplings we got were pan fried and they were delicious. They came with the classic sauce and another one that was good but we weren't sure what it was. The grandmas noodles were our least favorite. The taste was sweet but spicy? We weren't impressed. But partly our problem because there was no description on the menu and we didn't ask for information. We also ordered the kung pao chicken which was sooooo good. Very flavorful, great pieces of chicken! Definitely would get again. The star of the night was the half duck. We had never ordered it before and the man who delivered the food showed us how to eat it. Oh my gosh soooo flavorful. Wish we just got the full duck! I got a mai tai ($15 yikes) and R got a Sapporo beer that the bartender poured in a glass for him but didn't give him the full pour out of the glass which was odd. Three cup fish. Mapo Tofu. Sweet and Sour Ribs Plate. Seafood fried rice. The most note-worthy and flavorful dishes were the seafood rice and mapo tofu. Visually the eggplant was the most appealing. I think the three cup fish sauce was good but would have been better with chicken as the meat. My friend really loved the ribs as well. The food here does not really compare but I will say for this area it's good. I usually sit in the bar area and will say the service is great. As for the drinks it is best to have Nikki the bartender make your drinks if she is working. You might not be disappointed. Our first time was great. We came around brunch on a Saturday, for the Dim Sum Menu. We enjoyed our food. A little on the pricey side, but this is Columbia and Peter Chang is a well-known name. Ordered the Congee w Pork & Preserved Egg, Chicken Feet, Spareribs, Grandma's Noodles and the famous Scallion Bubble Pancake. All the items came out fast and hot. The chicken feet were a bit dry and bland for our taste. Grandma's Noodles were very tasty - full of garlic and spice. Our favorite was the Bubble with the sauce. If you must try anything on the menu - order the Bubble Pancake. We liked our first experience so much we went again on a Thursday evening for the dinner menu. It was busier than we expected, but we were able to get a table in about 20 minutes. This time, we ordered the Lion's Head Pork Meatball Pan fried Noodles, Chicken Lettuce Wrap, Peking Duck and the Bubble (again). We were excited to try the Chicken Lettuce Wrap because the plating for other tables was so pretty. The taro strips were fried and standing to look like a basket around the chicken. When ours got to our table, it looked... sad and deflated. The flavor was good though. The famous Peking duck was disappointing. Skin was not crispy, meat was dry and cold. The Meatball with the noodles also came cold. We didn't make a fuss because our server was overwhelmed with other tables. Just overall disappointed with our dinner. Both times, our servers were great, friendly and as helpful as they could be. When our dinner server asked how the food was, we voiced our comments, but nothing was done except to apologize because it was busy. Not sure when I will come back to try it out again. We went here today for lunch. It was very good. First of all they accomodated our request to be moved to a different table. For very very legit reasons we wanted to be moved. They were so gracious with our request. Their customer service is top tier. Vale was so helpful, she was very attentive when it comes to our needs, always checking in on us. Making sure we are taken care of. Now the food! I am loving the green scallion pancake puff thingy. It was so great! Loved the crispiness of it. And the dipping sauce was actually good. Overall good experience. We visited during lunch time and took advantage of the lunch specials. The food was good. The service was good. They also had amazing music (think 90s R&B). Please note that they close from 3:00 - 4:30 Monday - Thursday. We came in at 2 and were served but didn't realize this and felt a little rushed at the end. This is noted on their website. The restaurant was very clean and the windows in our booth provided lots of natural light. The pan fried shrimp dumplings were good and came with two sauces one tasted like the traditional dumpling sauce and the other was a sweet tangy sauce. The bang bang shrimp came with popcorn garnish. The shrimp was good, very flavorful but the popcorn was soggy. Wasn't sure the purpose but I think it would be nice if it was on a bed of crispy popcorn. We had the combination fried rice which was good. The hunan beef was very flavorful and tender. Friends and I went to Peter Chang for the first time and it's gonna be our last time!We really wanted to like it but the service was really horrible. We ordered this youlin crispy eggplant. It came out super hard and stuck on our teeth. So we complained to the server. The manager brought the dishes back to our table, told us that was how it was supposed to be. she threw the dish back on our table and told us that we needed to "keep it". Then came the bamboo flounder fish. The batter was so thick and the flavor had curry and weird spices. we didn't enjoy any of the food. But the worst is the service: the manager didn't even take the eggplant off the bill. $18 for a small dish of uneatable eggplant. No, thank you. My second picture is what was left on my plate afterward. Another person got sweet and sour chicken. Very heavy on the sweet. And lots of batter. Veggie dish was totally bland and flavorless, and the beef clay pot stew was *literally* 60% tough beef tendons 30% tomatoes and 10% delicious edible meat (not counting the big fancy pot that left very little room for food inside). Spent about $80 in total and left frustrated and hungry. Went to Dok Khao next door right after to get a real meal and lift my spirits and it was delicious. Oh my! what delicious food. Met my friend for lunch at noon today - she had made a reservation because she'd heard it gets very busy - and we were seated immediately, given water and menus. I had glanced at their menu online but had forgotten what I thought I wanted. My eyes immediately fastened on the L2 - Spicy Garlic Pork. I love me some garlic, in fact LOTS of garlic, so that seemed like "look no further". My friend said she was torn between that and the L6 - Hunan Fish, because she also loves garlic but her hubby highly recommended the fish. Happily, since we always share everything, we both got something we wanted. We shared an order of spring rolls and one was just the right amount because there was a large mound of food in each of our serving bowls! Plus the small bowls of rice on the side. Well, both of us were blown away by the taste of both dishes. Their peppers indicating spice level were two for each, which turned out to be a perfect medium level. All of the veg in both were crispy tender and the sauces were out of this world. She asked our server, who said the fish is flounder. They were small fillets, about 3 bites each, and they were numerous. The pork was cut into thin strips and it too was more than ample. I brought home about half the rice and over half of my pork dish, while still giving her a little for her to-go container. The server was attentive but not overly so - we were given plenty of time to enjoy the food and our visit. I didn't see the bill (it was a birthday treat) but my friend said it was very reasonable. Parking is ample and free, although google maps gets a little confused in navigating it. We started with drinks, which were ok. Kind of pricey for the quality of the drink. The appetizers we had were the soup dumplings, calamari and spring rolls. All were very good! For my entree, I ordered the cumin lamb stir fry. I would suggest only ordering this if you LOVE cumin, because it is overwhelming in this dish. I could not taste the lamb flavor at all. Tip: Make reservations!! Peter Chang's lives up to the hype that led up to the opening of this location in Columbia. I went to the new location the week of the grand opening and it was poppin! I made reservations which I highly recommend and because it was packed, there was a slight delay in getting seated. The staff is great and the food was amazing. I wasn't able to take pictures because my family bumped into another snails we knew and decided to ask to be seated together. Let's just say the family wouldn't understand my obsession of Yelping. However, I will be return for more food and proper food photography to share. APPETIZERS * Crispy Duck Roll * These rolls reminded me of a spring roll with duck meat inside. It came with a tasty tangy dipping sauce. * Stir-Fry Cumin Lamb * This was amazing. It was a huge dish of crispy lamb meat sautéed in flavors that made your taste buds dance. * Steam Pork Belly * I love pork and I love pork belly so I thought I'd give this a try. It was good however steamed pork belly isn't my favorite so it didn't hit the spot. It was good and tasty. If you're not a fan of fatty meat and steamed meat, you may want to pass on this.
