Peter Pan BMW taught me some valuable lessons, not only about Peter Pan BMW, but about buying cars in general. Never buy a car from Peter Pan BMW that is listed in "AS IS" condition. I purchased a 7-series BMW with this dealership. It was a beautiful car, my dream car in fact. I fell in love with the car the moment I saw it and they allowed me to take it for a spin on my own. The car had an "AS IS" sticker on it, and I thought I negotiated a good price for it. I was in heaven when I drove it off the lot, turning left on El Camino to head home. Over the next 18 months, I paid upwards of $20,000 for repairs. I repeat. After foolishly making the mistake of purchasing a used BMW from Peter Pan BMW, with an "AS IS" sticker on it, I had to fork over more than $20,000 in repairs over the next 18 months. The car was a nightmare mechanically. It had about 80K miles on it and it was out of warranty. What an idiot I was to buy it, and my experience with it soured me on buying BMWs. Lessons learned. (1) Peter Pan BMW will sell you a mechanical nightmare, if you are stupid enough to purchase such a car with an "AS IS" sticker. Some businesses won't sell you junk, but this dealership is OK with selling junk, even disclosing it is junk with the "AS IS" sticker. They will of course try to get as much money from you as possible for that junk. (2) In general, stay away from these vehicles with "AS IS" stickers, unless you are a mechanic who is prepared to do some serious work on the car you purchase. These BMWs are indeed well-engineered, performance vehicles but they can be technically "fussy". A vehicle with an "AS IS" sticker is certain to contain some serious mechanical headaches. Stay away from the aggravation and enormous cost these problematic vehicles pose. Peter Pan BMW of course sells some beautiful vehicles and the staff are respectful and courteous, but beware of any vehicle with an 'AS IS" sticker on it. read more

This review is overdue and for starters, this is speaking to the outstanding above and beyond experience provided by Adam Locke and Khalid Manneh, during the car ordering and sales process. We had previously purchased a 2017 BMW M3 from Fremont since we had a terrible, absolutely terrible (borderline stereotypical racist) experience at Peter Pan San Mateo from a sales person called Jeremy, and we had sworn off Pater Pan San Mateo. Given the outstanding service we continue to receive from Peter Pan Burlingame (Jordan Cuellar) for servicing the M3, we decided to give San Mateo a second chance. We were met by Khalid and he immediately took the time to understand our needs, ask questions and provide input. Never for once did he try to push a car onto us, gave us accurate information, spent a lot of time answering our questions, and letting us test drive until we were satisfied. Since we have never owned a plug-in hybrid before, it was all important for us to get the test drive to our satisfaction before custom ordering the 2023 X5 45e. Next came Adam into the process - he was terrific. We were bringing in a loan through our own bank, and he took the utmost care, time and patience to answer any and all questions, gave useful tips and feedback that resulted in a seamless and near-perfect purchase experience. Adam provided us with a loyalty discount and was able to add on a Corporate Fleet discount from our company. We had no clue about the latter, and were only able to avail it, because Adam went that extra length to ask about our Corporate affiliations. He ensured we had all paperwork prefilled to the extent possible, which made our purchase experience a breeze. The signatures took us into early evening, within a few hours of closing time. Upon learning we had elected to get a protective coating on the car, he offered to get it done that day itself and suggested we don't drive a new car out the lot without the coat, in addition to us saving time. Adam had the car prepped and ready for us a few hours, tad past the closing time and patiently explained the nitty gritty of the new car to allow us to drive home safely. As a pleasant surprise, he put in a coupon for accessories in the mail, with a nice note. As is pretty obvious, Adam and Khalid made up and then some, for the terrible experience in 2017, to the point when we get the next BMW, we will check with Adam et al. first. Needless to say, if there is any friend and contact in our network looking for a BMW, we would send them Adam's way! read more

I H-A-T-E car salesmen. Many are cocky, arrogant, sleazy, liars, and straight shady...not enough words can describe how much I hate these customer profiling pricks. We were in the market for a new car and initially were interested in getting a Lexus IS, something luxurious yet some "somewhat" affordable (so we thought). After a terrible experience at Lexus of Serramonte, we tried once more at Putnam Lexus. We test drove the Lexus IS 350 but we were getting jacked around with the pricing so didn't bother with them. We joked about getting a BMW but didn't think we could afford one. Our friend's sister works at the BMW of San Francisco and told us to just test drive one for fun. He set-up an appointment for us, and well, we fell in love with the bmw's "driving experience". Even though we were serious about getting one, the salesman apparently didn't think we were and was non-responsive to my emails. Whatever. *rolls eyes* On to the next.... I happen to Yelp Peter Pan BMW on my phone and saw that my high school friend wrote a tip for Victor Hung. We went to Peter Pan BMW during the last weekend of May 2014 (yes, I'm super late on this review) without an appointment. Rookie mistake. You better make an appointment to talk to Victor, otherwise you will have to wait 3.5 hours just to talk to him like we did. When we arrived to his wing of the office (he has an entire section to himself while the other salesmen had one desk out front), we saw numerous accolades adorned on his wall. Come to find out that Victor has the top 1% sales in the US...for over 20 years straight! We told him we were interested in the 3 Series and wanted to know about pricing. He was in the middle of closing a deal and had one of his assistants bring us out for a test drive to kill time. For some reason, she couldn't find the key for the 3 Series and asked if we wanted to test drive a brand spanking new 4 Series M-Sport that just came in (seats were still wrapped in plastic!)...for fun. Phuck yea! BEST RIDE OF MY LIFE (sorry, Mr. NSS). Mr. NSS, being the practical one wanted the 3 Series for the four doors. I wanted a coupe. While waiting to speak with Victor, we talked like how most couples talk...texted each other while sitting across from each other. Me: "So...how can I convince you to get a coupe?" Mr. NSS: "I don't know." Me: "BJ's?" Mr. NSS: "Ok." Talk about being easy! No joke, this was our actual text convo and I was being sarcastic too. So it was decided, the 4 Series it was. When it came down to pricing, we went back and forth a couple of time but there was zero BS. No need to go the back and ask the "big boss". In the end, we ordered the 4 Series M-Sport with red seats, navigation, etc (none in stock in the US) and got a better deal than what was quoted at Putnam Lexus for the IS 350 AND at BMW of San Francisco for the BMW 2 Series AND BMW 3 Series!!!! By the way, leasing is the way to go for BMW since all maintenance is covered during the 3 year lease except tires. In fact, 7 out of 10 BMW customers lease which makes sense since things typically don't break down until after 3+ years and by then, you can just lease another. Shak Ahadi is the finance manager who helped us finish the deal. He was genuinely friendly, courteous, and super cool. If you live in the city, the lease protection is a must! It's about $20/month (depending on the car) and it covers excess wear and tear: paint damage, dents, glass chips, stains, bumper, etc for up to $5k. Since tires are not covered under maintenance, you can also opt for tire protection which was an additional ~$20 (tires are ~$700 each). We've had the car for 7 months now and love it! We're constantly fighting to drive it (I usually win). With the eco pro mode, we fill the gas tank about every 11-12 days (I drive everyday). Depending on gas prices, it's usually $35-$45 for super. Two minor gripes: the turn signal and the navigation. The turn signals are super sensitive and tend to stop signaling after 5-7 seconds. The navigation is the pain in the phuckin' ass to enter in an address so I end up just using my Waze on my phone. 5 stars for Victor and Shak. BMWs sell on their own so don't expect stellar, kiss-my-ass service. If you're serious, know what you want and want the best deal, Victor is the guy to go to. He'll most likely be juggling several customers at the same time but you probably won't get a better deal anywhere else. Customer service can take a back seat, as long as, we can save $$$$. 0 stars for the rest of the other customer profiling salesmen there. On the two occasions we went to Peter Pan (for several hours), not one bothered to greet or help us. Oh but they didn't hesitate to flock when seemingly affluent grandpa brought his bratty, entitled grandson to buy a new car for his high school graduation. Grandpa *points at 435i*: "What about this one?" Bratty, entitled grandson: "No, I want the M4!" Pssshhh, can you adopt me? Thanks! read more

My husband and I were both Honda people and this was our first experience buying a BMW. After reading horrible reviews about various BMW dealers, we were little apprehensive. We decided to give Peter Pan a shot only because Norm - the Sales Manager who helped us get the car was so helpful and nice. We went there to test drive the X3 and then liked the X1 which we ended up buying. Unlike other places, they did not talk us into buying something that they already had at the warehouse instead they encouraged us to buy what we like. Even the finance manager did not force us into buying additional "nice to have" packages. The entire transaction was quick and hassle free. Overall, it was a wonderful experience buying our car here and Norm even called us back a week after we bought the car to check if everything was going alright with the car. *********DO NOT TRUST Robert McCuskey in Sales********* Robert McCuskey quoted me a zero down lease on 2013 328i coupe (MSRP: $43,895 Stock #: B22676) for $310 + tax ($336). I went ahead applied for credit app on their website. BMW FS called to verify that I was authorizing the application due to a fraud alert on my credit report. BMW FS confirmed approval after verification. Robert calls this morning and said the deal was all good. I decided to come in later in the day and he pulls up it up on his computer and states this is the deal "that BMW FS approved" me for. At zero down for $453. How the heck does BMW FS dictate what the terms are when the dealership is the one that creates the deal structure and submits it to BMW FS?! Total BS coming out of his mouth. I asked him to produce the deal structure discussed yesterday and he did not even have it ready or even know where to begin. His sales manager, Rob Rensen tried to put the deal structure he quoted me. Even he couldn't comprehend on how McCuskey's quote was even possible. That would be selling their car $4000 below invoice price. I jokingly told Rob to take the $4000 from McCuskey's commission for lying. Rob Rensen tried his best to salvage the deal by offering to discount the car $1500 below invoice. Unfortunately this conniving sales person, Robert McCuskey left a bad taste that I refuse to give this dealership any business after this experience. Should you decide to do business with Peter Pan BMW, please ask for Robert Rensen (sales manager) or someone other than Robert McCuskey. Makes me wonder how many customers he has played the "Oh, this is what BMW FS was able to approve you for your monthly payment". We dropped by Peter Pan BMW on a not so busy Saturday afternoon and we left laughing at the terrible, virtually non-existent service we received during the ten minutes we were on the lot. First, we pulled up in a non-BMW and to be honest, not the most glamorous of cars. We had to circle around the entire lot to find parking and one of the sales people stopped us and asked something like, "Were you looking for something?" in a condescending manner, kind of implying that we couldn't possibly be shopping for a BMW. We told him we couldn't find parking and he replied, "Well, there's some in the front somewhere." Oh, well, thank you for that useful bit of information. Anyway, we find a parking spot and wander around, peeking through the windows of many cars, all without so much as a hello from a salesperson. Well, Peter Pan BMW? We are actually in the market for a new car and were seriously considering one of the models and wanted to take one for a spin, but we will definitely not be purchasing from your dealership nor any of the Peter Pan dealerships.
