I was born and raised in WI, but moved to AZ and lived there for several years. Even after all that time I craved my favorite eats. I moved back to Oshkosh a week ago, read Pete's Garage website and yelp reviews so my friends and I decided to try it. We all ordered something different and sampled each others' food. In one word...OUTSTANDING! Maybe it's because I"m old and they wanted to show respect, but "Chip" and Kyle (who is a cook) couldn't have been nicer. (I was expecting them to give me a hard time.) I bought one of their t-shirts...only $10. Pete's Garage will be my "go to" bar/restaurant from now on. Keep up the great work, guys! read more

Best bar and food in town! Great place to grab a drink or have a burger while watching the game and spending time with friends.

What a hidden gem! We were visiting from out-of- state and used Yelp to help us decide where to go. When walking up to the front door, don't judge a book by its cover. This place was fun - they have a "shit beer" list and a "craft beer" list and there's a snarky sign posted on each table about how they are lazy so you'll need to bus your own table and order you own drinks. I went to Pete's 3 years ago. Had the Cajun Chicken wrap. Folks I actually went back the next day and had the same meal, it was that good. The Tender was a riot. We swap some insults lots of good folks there to argue with too. Once they found out I was a Texan the fight was on. Kept me entertained for hours. Well to start off, this ain't even a dangole garage. I pulled in thinking it was a shop to work on my motorhome but It's a bar....big surprise, how many bars do you need in WI? Everything is a bar....garages are bars, churches are bars, dogs are bars. Disgusting. It's bad enough it aint even a garage but there is absolutely no way to fix your car or bike here. false advertising. So I sits down at the damn watchahoozit and tells the guy to give me a menu. I could barely understand him through his sheep mask!! Fella hands me a menu and it couldn't be more confusing. Finally decided to order what I hoped was a drink - WEEEAKKKKK!!!! This is one of the most fun and unique bars I have ever been to!!! The menu and rules are hilarious. Read it all and you will laugh. The workers are all a trip and you cannot beat the prices. The cheese curds are amazing! read more

Crazy good burgers. Crazy still is you place your order at the bar, pick it up when it's ready and then bus your own table. The only problem is you could drinking more beer if you could stay at your table. A fun place to hangout when your in town for the biggest air show on the continent. read more

So happy to find this place! We were just passing through and had to make a nearby stop. We had planned on having lunch elsewhere but I decided to look at yelp. The first place on the list was Pete's. I always enjoy local flavor anyway. It's your average Midwest tavern by look, but it has superb tasting food...at great prices. My wife and I were set on burgers but as we were ordering a friendly local(Steve) and his family recommended the prime rib sandwich. The single burger would have been plenty and only for $3 and change, but not knowing yet I went for the double for $5.25. It was so much food and so yummy. My wife LOVED the prime rib sandwich, I had a taste and I did as well. It was so flavorful(like the burger) and so tender it melted in your mouth like butter. We got garlic fries and cheese curds as sides and they were well worth it as well. It was SO MUCH FOOD! This place is worth going whether you are passing through or it's even worth making as a destination. Located just west of Lake Winnebago. Do yourself a favor and go! I am as excited about telling people to go as I am for the next chance I get to go myself. read more

the environment is super fun, kind of a "hole in the wall" bar feel, but without the dirtiness. whole place is covered in garage-like decor from top to bottom. strong drinks for a cheap price. food isn't too bad either, considering how cheap it is and the portions are also pretty large (i even get half-orders most of the time). bartenders/owners are very entertaining and hard workers. they also have really nice day-of-the-week deals. read more

Definitely one of the liveliest dive bars I have stumbled in (or out) of in a long time. We were in fairly early on a Saturday night, and it was pretty full. There was loud music (not too loud for conversations though), lots of friendly yelling, a good sized patio out back, some combination of yahtzee rolls for shots going on at the bar, and change being flung between bartenders and regulars. The crowd covered all age ranges, definitely regulars, and not a lot of lightweight drinkers. We had a couple drinks & appetizers and a ridiculously low tab. What's not to like? read more

Yelp did it again!!!! This place is fantastic. We stopped in around 12:45 for a quick lunch on our way to Door County. We are from Iowa and always use Yelp to find places to eat. We must have timed it right because the place was only half full. I got a burger with cheese and bacon and my wife had a chicken breast with grilled mushrooms. We both got fries and I got a beer. The food was outstanding and the bill was only $17. By the time we left the place was full. We can't recommend this place enough! We are going to try to time it so we can stop by on our way back to Iowa. read more

Fist time at Pete's Bar and if you love simply grilled burgers and fries with awesome meat then this place is for you. The price cant be beat you'll pay half of what you pay at a franchise restaurant. Burgers were superb service was a mixed bag, however it fit the atmosphere. When some friends from work wanted to stop at Pete's for some food I was skeptical... Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised! The wraps are really good and I was even impressed with the chicken tenders! They have the deep fried bar foods everyone loves but the quality is much higher. The portions sizes are awesome. This place is hidden gold! We went here after the Oshkosh airshow and it was the perfect end to the day. They have Spotted Cow on tap, which is a rare treat for we out of towners. They also have killer cheese curds and burgers. If I went back, I'd get two orders of the curds. They don't have table service, which kind of stinks, and the process of "we'll just scream your name when the food is ready" didn't work well when they were slammed after the airshow. That's a minor gripe though, this is a great bar. read more

The fact that it was busy on a Tuesday night was s good sign. Took a little bit to get the food but like I said, it was 6:30P and busy. My acquaintance had the double burger with fries. I put 20 years in the Navy and I was always curious about the term "mess cook" Pete's burgers solved that puzzle...a first class mess. I had a bacon cheese burger. The one piece of bacon cut in half was soggy...the hamburger resembled a hockey puck in a pillow for a bun. The only thing worse than the food was the obnoxious booming sounds of "Dancing queen" insulting my ears...(a song that I once destroyed a perfectly good stereo to shut it off instead of one more second of having to listen to that song) and all the people screeching at the top of their lungs trying to be heard over the "music". The only way they got #1 burger is they paid someone off. The final insult was to have to wait in line (with more booming music) to pay $40 dollars for 3 burgers my Coon Hound refused to eat when I got home. read more

I haven't been this happy about a burger since I left college in Stevens Point. This is my adulthood Rusty's. Excellent "dive" bar with even more excellent food, prices and portions. We started with the cheese curds which were more like a 3 serving versus the usual order we're served by for only $5. Next up I had the "double gas cap" (double 1/3 pound burgers) while my wife had the "gas cap" (single 1/3 pound burger) which we were able to put the cheese of our liking along with other toppings. But the prices! So cheap and amazing for the price! Clearly this place is a town favorite as there were minimal empty seats along with multiple to go orders in the time we spent here. Not to mention the beer prices as well. I can't wait to go back on my next trip south! PS - the bartenders/cooks were legit as well - who wouldn't love being able to toss the empty bottles halfway across the bar into the awaiting barrels?!?! read more

If you are looking for a good, nothing fancy, tasty burger in a corner bar; look no further. I must say for a burger with just cheese and fried onions, it had so much flavory, and cooked to perfection if you like between medium and medium rare (which they did not ask, but not a problem for me) Service was a bit slow, but it was at the height of the lunch rush and the cook was only limited by the size of his grill.
