Came to this spot since I had always seen it while driving either up or down western. I had family visiting and figured I'd stop by and check it out. To start off, the place has more than enough parking wrapping around the building. Once we stepped inside, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. We decided to just do bar seating since there were some basketball and baseball games on. We had some drinks and then got a three topping pizza which is a true Chicago pizza with a flat crust and the cross cut slices. The food was really good as well as the appetizer wings we got. I also ordered a drink called peanut butter and a baseball bat that comes to you in a fancy little display when served. We showed a bit into the evening and it was just a great experience eating here. If you're in the mood for some true Chicago pizza, stop by and try this place out. Horrible Customer Service I give them 1 star, because the food I've had is good. However, I live across the street and will never go there again. I pressed "Order Online" to order pickup on their page on Google. Placed my order and found that they use Postmates for the order and I pre-paid. I get to Pete's and I'm told they don't have the order in their system. They start talking to each other about how postmates has done this before and blah blah blah. I get it. Mistakes happens. The young lady at the pickup window explains the issue to the manager and this dude told me that I had to take that up with postmates. Then told me that they would make my order (another half hour), but I would have to pay for it because they didn't get the money for it yet from postmates. WHAT!!! I couldn't believe it. They were trying to get me to pay twice for something I had ordered from them by simply Clicking "order online" on their page on Google. I explained to him that whatever issue they had with postmates is between them and they should get the money from postmates and I would wait for them to make my food. I paid online and the money was already being taken out of my account. I explained to this man that they are losing a customer over something they could fix and that I live across the street. He basically acted like it didn't matter that they were losing my business. Come on man! If they are having issues with postmates, why is the button there to click to order? Why wouldn't you make the food for me to keep the customer happy? I had proof that they charged me right there with me, but that wasn't enough. I'm still baffled that this even happened. Not even pissed at postmates, because they refunded my money when I finally got in touch with them and pointed out the error. Greatly disappointed in the management at Pete's Pizza for clearly not caring about their customers and repeat business. Hands down this place has figured it out ! From great customer service , I was greeted immediately by one of the cooks , then he walked outside to escort me to the carry out door, where I was then greeted by a group of worker who each individually greeted me and not in an annoying or fake way. It's odd, but I feel like the pizza (thin) is somewhat different here than the other location in the Edgewater neighborhood. Could it have been an "off day?" or maybe the pizza guy cut some corners in preparing it? I dunno. I'll have to retry it again and see. For now, I find the location a solid three stars. This is a standard pizza kind of restaurant. Slices are available but only during certain times and days, otherwise an entire pie must be ordered. Their pizza is pretty run-of-the-mill unless placing an order for a pie with specialty items but their toppings are pretty tame which is unlike their sister location the bakehouse. I bowl across the street during different seasons. When bowling season is underway, the team would grab food locally after games. On a few occasions we tried them out and weren't much of a fan of the service. Response times were slow, cocktails were poured weak and the pizza was average. Due to those reasons, we switched to drinking at other bars nearby and having a pizza delivered to the bar. I.e. Grace street tap or in some cases, Crabby Kim's. Crabby Kim's also offers food but no pizza. However, both bars allow patrons to bring in outside food. read more

I wish I had taken pictures. But, I was too busy hosting my husband's Birthday party at a local bar. I ordered the largest pizza, jumbo buffalo wings and jalapeno poppers. I was a little hesitant about ordering after reading some reviews. I am so happy I ordered anyway! I ordered through grubhub and the food was delivered fresh. Everything was fantastic! The sweet bbq wings were humongous and delicious! So much that some girls I invited were too shy to get their faces and hands dirty from the sauce- but when one finally tried them.. she was very impressed... kept eating it even with messy fingers. Love the thin crust pizza! This is my place of choice for ordering delivery. It happens to also be where some of my family gathers on about 4 or 5 Sundays per year to celebrate various occasions. The food and service are very good but I am still taking one star off of an otherwise 4-star review. One member of my family uses a walker and it is very helpful for us to use the handicapped parking space by the door. But over the last year or so that HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE IS ALWAYS OCCUPIED BY THE SAME CAR! Every time -- always the same car. Well, it turns out to be the Manager's car! Great take-out spot. Easy to order online or over the phone. They have a dedicated pick-up spot. The pizza is really good. I got the thin crust. The crust was still crispy and delicious when I got it home. Pete's also has a very big menu will all the Italian favorites. You can sit down and eat there if you like. What the serious fuck is wrong with you people? Unless it's a catering order, no one wants their pizza cut into squares. NO ONE. My dog managed to get into the pizza - my negligence, not yours - but because you cut your pizzas in a a fashion that NO ONE wants, he was able to get several squares, rather than a single sane-person slice. My pizza contained onions, which are poison for dogs. I'm now on pins and needles wondering if he's going to start having seizures. He could even die. Please re-think your batshit insane policy of cutting pizzas into squares, and enter the world of the sane. We've ordered this thin crust pizza twice now. Once with some friends and once alone. Everybody has loved it and can't stop talking about it. I've only ordered it "well done" and I would recommend that if you like crispy crust. The toppings are great, they have good giardinera and sausage. Pan pizza no longer has a soft thick layer it's actually almost as thin as the regular pizza, The only real difference between the 2 is the pan has a higher "back crust." Still good, just disappointed. Also the boneless chicken tenders are shaped like a ball, again tasty but odd. Would order from another place if you want a real pan pizza. read more

I have been craving a meatball sub. I ordered from Pete's. Easy side door to go in and grab your order. ( customer service doesn't go above and beyond. I don't think they even looked at me). Sandwich itself and meatballs were fine. It's a sandwich. Not a sub. So it was skimpy to me. I wanted a sub cut in half where you can save half for later. I was still hungry after the sandwich. It was like $11 so for a sandwich, that's expensive. But the worst worst thing was.... NO CHEESE! No melted cheese oozing and mixing with the sauce to make this sub yummy. I have never had a sub with no cheese. I don't even know how to comprehend no melted cheese. You can make the sandwich a meal and get the cole slaw and fries. I should have known from that question. There was also a fruit fly on an orange that went with one guest Blue Moon beer, which is kinda gross. A party of 8 waited an hour for 3 pizzas and 3 pasta dishes. So this is a really great place if you want a new place to try their pie! Been here a couple times with friends, and have never been disappointed. My bf and I usually get the thin crust (though we dig deep dish, etc) ordered well done. I don't eat a lot of thin crust pizza but man oh man-delish. The crust-BAM. The sauce-BOSS. Whatever your topping is-AMAZING. It's pretty good pie. Our friends that we've gone with usually get the stuffed deep dish, and they too really dig it. On date night a couple nights ago we ordered the ribs as an app and they were good (but not Green Street Smoked Meats great)-but hey, you're there for the pizza man. They know what they're doin! I will say this, we didn't know this our first visit but now it makes sense-the stuffed deep dish takes about an hour maybe a little over. The thin crust about 25 minutes. Just thought that was important to mention. They have craft cocktails which I like. The first visit was in the fall/winter and they had this dope little whiskey drink with a fruit ice cube that melted into the drink and did the most amazing things to my taste buds. The last few visits, I notice their cocktail menus always different. So hubby and I were debating whether to get a pizza from Whole Foods or Pete's...Pete's won hands down...(we only like Whole Foods because we like to fool ourselves that if we get whole grain, we are doing ourselves a favor) needless to say, its more expensive and lets admit not as good as the cheesey goodness from Pete's. We were starving that we actually started eating driving home and it did not disappoint. Even my picky 5 yr old daughter said it was very good..If a picky kid likes it, then you have my stamp of approval... I only wish they would have added more jalapenos but otherwise, it was ready as they estimated and the quality was pretty darn good. Our athletic team held a pizza party after school over the winter. We called a few days ahead to see if we could get some sort of deal and to let them know a large group would be in. They told us they couldn't offer a discount but that we should just come in. When we showed up the manager was quite rude and said they couldn't accommodate us. Other than our group of 50 there was only 4 other patrons in the restaurant so it was really unclear why they were so unhappy. The serving staff was fine but overall I definitely would not recommend it. It seems they should have been happy for the uptick in business during such a slow period. If it is a training issue with staff best not to take it out on customers. We won't be back. read more

Pete's Pizza is one of those places I thought of when I wanted a treat or treat someone to a fun place and good food and/or pizza. The last time I was at Pete's was before CoVid. Their Chicken Vesuvio was one of the best in Chicago. However, when I saw the menu, the menu was quite abbreviated (like the one at Giordano's with pizza and a few basic Italian items, grilled sandwiches). Very few pasta options. I settled for the salmon dinner over spinach which had a lemon based sauce. They no longer offer soup or salad with the dinners (and there are only 4 dinners to choose from). Pete's has very good minestrone, so again, another disappointment. On their website, they pride themselves on maintaining family tradition; however, based on previous years of going to Pete's, and I remember the original owners, it's very sad it's become so limited. The host told me they changed the menu during CoVid, so it's understandable as they probably didn't have patrons during that time. However, now that CoVid's subsided, it's time to get back to being Pete's, and not just for pizza. read more
