Pete's delivered to my neighbor's apartment when I first moved in so I made note of them to try their pizza sometime. Some 6 or 7 pizzas later, I'm finally getting round to posting a review. It's safe to say I'm a fan as they are my go to pizza place. Personally, I'm not crazy about deep dish pizza but when out of town guests show up, it's what they want and I aim to please. Plus, Pete's pan pizza is good. When I order for myself, I choose their thin crust pizza, four cheese pizza. They have great sauce that has a bit of a kick to it. I've been a long time customer. Pizza is good and delivered fast. The last 5+ times I've received a delivery, I've noted "Please leave food in lobby. No Contact" due to the pandemic. It's on my receipt. They constantly come to my door asking for a tip (which I call in with on every delivery). The restaurant can't figure out how to receive a tip over the phone and give it to their driver. When I call I get "I guess I'll just have to start firing drivers" from the manager. We got two pizzas for takeout, a medium cheese an extra large barbecue chicken. The lady who took my order were very efficient, and I even knew my name as I called in! Still not sure how that happened, like if it was caller ID or not. The pick up process was pretty seamless, you have to go through a different door than the main entrance. It was definitely really busy on a Wednesday night inside. However, I was not impressed by the pizza at all. The ratio seemed off, and the chicken was not tender. Also, the extra large was not as large as I thought it would be, and the medium was also smaller than expected. I just like how they cut it into square pieces though! read more

Nice restaurant but the pizza is mid. They have a clean facility and the workers are fantastic but the pizza is doughy and flavorless. The sauce is acidic and leaves your gums feeling confused. I would recommend for the ice cream but not the pizza slices, considering they are 5$ each. Also pretty sure it isn't cooked in store. I would definitely not recommend. I had pretty high expectations as they've been doing this tavern style pizza thing since 1955. They were also recently featured on Chicago's Best which sorta upped the urgency to see what all the lark was about. Breaking it down: Crust - it's thin but a "thick" thin and this was what unf brought it down a star. To counter it do yourself a favour and 1. Order it well done 2. Order extra sauce. Cheese and ingredients - we chose pepperoni which was good but they are known for their sausage which is freshly ground daily in the store....if I go again I'd try that. Pete's was wonderful in helping us prepare for our Basketball Team Dinner. Pete's staff advised us on how much food to order for 50 people, which included a group of hungry teen boys. I had to call this restaurant, and Michael helped me because the Manager, that was Kara, wouldn't honor her price that was posted for the salad. She kept saying that that was an old chalkboard with old prices. When I feel like a bit of variety, I've enjoyed the toasted cheese ravioli, spaghetti, and lasagna (all at different meals). If you can't decide what kind of pizza to get, find out what the Slice of the Week is. I've been known to like those often enough to come back in the same week for another slice. Been ordering Pete's for several months now and most of the food is really good. Good pizza, wings, salads... The service today was painfully slow. It took forever for everything. To get waters, to get the soft drinks we ordered to the table; every part of lunch took so long. We waited about 45 minutes for the food after ordering. Then, as dishes came out one at a time people had to wait and watch others eat. No mention of service delays from the staff at all. No heads-up that they're short staffed or anything. This review is solely on management. I had dined in on 3/1/19 and on 3/2/19 I called Petes around 1030am just to check if my ID had been turned in there as I had lost it. My last recollection was of having it at Pete's. On 3/2 when I was transferred over to the manager he said "I don't even understand how an ID could be left here." I was so dumbfounded by his comment that I said okay and hung up. He didn't even say "no we don't have it" Really you don't know how it would be there?! They have a beer and cocktail menu and a bar and you're wondering how an ID could have been left behind? Even IF I hadn't ordered a drink the simplicity of having taken out of my wallet or it falling out of my pocket and then it being turned in for lost and found would be enough of a reason for it to be there. Can't say that I'm a fan. Ordered delivery. Took almost two hours. At that length, I'd appreciate a phone call with a reason why they're delayed. The pizza was good but not great. We ordered and XL cheese and a pan with mushrooms. The crust on the pan was so dense and dry. Not enough sauce could make it edible. The thin crust was better, but it's a cheese pizza. It better be good! $50 worth of pizza and 4 kids barely touched it. I consider myself a food snob, but I'd rather eat Papa Johns and save a little cash. read more

Pete's Pizza a Chicago tradition since 1955! While visiting from out of town we were told this is a GREAT place for pizza & traditional Italian meals. Unfortunately we did not find that to be true. G. Gerardo was our server on 1/5/2019 @ 7:22pm & our order #219 came to a total of 48.95. Mr. Gerardo seemed to be more concerned with impressing the women or the men than taking our order. We had to repeat over & over because he wasn't FOCUSED! 5 people sit down & 4 plates were issued, after asking him several times for another plate we gave up since the main course was pizza. We ordered a combination 1/2 pepperoni & 1/2 pepperoni & sausage. After repeating ourselves several times we got 1/2 pepperoni & 1/2 sausage, no surprise here! I ordered the lasagna that was served warm at best, left to rest about 30 minutes before serving I would guess with NO breadsticks or garlic bread. We also ordered 3 milk, 1 diet pepsi & 1 water. Got 2 milk, 2 diet pepsi's & a water, no surprise here either. Never did ask how we liked the meal or ever showed up again except to deliver the bill. The ONLY time he paid attention to detail was when he got tipped! Fortunately we live in a town in Iowa that the pizza etc. has been voted #1 in Iowa (Pagliai's Pizza) and it probably is and has been there since 1957. Will I return to Pete's Pizza ever again? Pete's has really good square cut (party style) pizza. We had thin crust sausage and mushroom. Sausage chunks were plentiful and had great fennel flavor. Nice bar with TVs for the Cubs or whatever game is on. Good selection of beer and wine and also some nice liquor choices for cocktails. Definitely kid friendly with a kids menu you can color on and crayons provided. The restaurant space was remodeled in late '18 or early '19. It looks nice and has garage style windows that let in plenty of light. read more

About a 2-2.5: My friend and I came to check out Pete's Pizza, as we were in the area doing some roamage. She suggested Pete's, as they are known for their thin/deep dish pizza and Italian entrees. We tried a basket of the garlic bread that came with a side of marinara sauce - the bread sticks were a little chewy, kind of stale, and not much of a garlic taste to them. For our entrees, we decided to share a Caesar Salad (Romaine lettuce with homemade croutons, Romano cheese, and Caesar dressing; this was okay, but needed more dressing!) and a pan pizza of the Works (with sausage, green peppers, onions, and mushroom). The pizza itself was not as thick and deep as what you expect a deep dish to be; the crust was a little dry, and the pizza itself was smothered with the unseasoned tomato sauce. The ingredients seemed to be kind of bland, as the sauce didn't seem to meld with them. Service was MIA, even though we were the only ones dining in the restaurant. Today for lunch 2 of us had a wood fired pizza and the lobster truffle Mac and cheese. The crust on the pizza was delicious, a little crisp, a little chew - just how I like it. The sausage had a kick of flavor. We enjoyed it. The lobster truffle Mac and cheese was pretty good too, a lot of lobster, big chunks and you could really taste the truffle. I do think it might be better with a lighter white cheese. But, it was still tasty. Plenty of leftovers for tomorrow! Also the seasonal draft beer (Revolution Oktoberfest) was only $3.50 - that's a steal! read more

Never been to the actual location, so this will be a delivery review. We had the Mediterrian Pizza and I was not impressed at all. It came with spinach, mushroom, asparagus and mozzarella cheese. The pizza was quite expensive for a large thin crust ($20.00). The delivery guy took almost an hour and we were just a few blocks away. He didn't bring any parmesan cheese, which I was told they usually do. I will try this place again, but I don't have a yearning for it. read more
