We have ordered from here a few times recently and the food has always been amazing! Our favorites have been the pierogis and chicken & wild rice soup- YUM!! If I could give it No stars I would. I can't believe them. My BLACK family and I waited 20 mins watching them purposely go around us helping people that came in AFTER US! We left cause clearly we weren't getting served it took so much to not tell them about their selves in front of everyone. Our server Stephanie was the BEST server I have had in awhile(coming from a server)!!!! She was so sweet and accommodating, very fast and just overall amazing! Out of all the employees only one was polite and treated our party of 4 as equal. When we first arrived we were told it'd be a 20 minute wait which we were fine with however my blood sugar was extremely low so I approached the counter to purchase anything I could to hold me over while the others went outside to wait. About 3 different people came up to the register and completely ignored me. No one asked if I was helped, if I needed something, NOTHING! An older lady approached and went and stood on my left side closest to the register and said "hey Jessica" and Jessica ran right over to service the lady who now just cut me I line. I asked the older lady if you had to know someone here to get service and she laughed. I was serious though! Finally after a long while a friendly girl came and asked if I was helped and I quickly just went through what I could order in that moment. Bought a $2 cookie, tipped the girl $5 for actually noticing me. Cookie was absolute garbage. Hard as a rock cardboard tasting. Host seated a group that came in after us first, when she took us to our table she said nothing, just put the menus down and walked away. Once seated my friend ordered a mimosa and found it was made with a can of wine instead of champagne. Overall the food was served in a timely manner, and most of what we ordered wasn't bad tasting so I give this establishment 2 stars. One of the food and one for the kind waitress. 2.5 Stars This place is really hit or miss The food is consistent, the service is not. I just had the unfortunate experience of sitting at the bar for lunch. I sit at the bar because I'm alone and that's the easiest place for one person to sit, and usually the service is OK. Unfortunately, Two women sitting at the bar were occasionally raising their shrill voices, to the point that I had to stop what I was doing to see what the commotion was. A couple brought in babies that scream at their tables. I don't know what people think by taking their babies to the bar, but don't make your problem my problem, and have some consideration for your fellow human beings, you insensitive dope! I realize none of this is anything that Pete's Place can correct, but they could place the babies in a room separate from the main room. And the shrill women well there's nothing any of us can do about that so I was glad that they could get some food in their faces so they would shut up. Okay I got that off my chest. As I sat at the bar the owner or manager brought their salad and coffee from the back room and sat next to me. What I think was one of the managers spoke with him at length across the bar about the political issues at the restaurant. Dealing with individuals and scheduling and people that don't communicate and who the hell cares.!!! ..... why am I having to listen to this garbage during my lunch hour?! okay I got that off my chest too. I like the salmon sandwich, it comes blackened with homemade chips. I don't like the chips because they're always cold, and quite frankly I don't need them. So I like to get the coleslaw as a substitute. This I think should be a side on the dish. Anyway, I asked to have the chips removed and then swapped with the coleslaw. Well apparently that is too hard in order to include so they charged me an additional 1.99 for a small Ramekin of coleslaw, which I find excessive and offensive, considering the cost of the salmon sandwiches is $14. So the bill comes and that is the only time the waitress gives me any attention, aside from taking my order. I don't tip on the additional $2 and I write on the bill circling the coleslaw price, excessive. Not that it's going to do anything or anybody will care, but I got it off my chest So thank you for letting me clear the air. I feel better about my $20 lunch with the shrill women, the dramatic waitress, the rude owner ( I think it was the owner) and the ignorant people that bring their babies into bars. read more

Been here 3 times. Ive tried the Beef stroganoff, bacon bbq cheeseburger, side/greek salads and bahama mama. All excellent. Waitresses are very nice and quick. Music is good! Cool place to hang with friends or solo. I will continue to keep coming here. read more

Pete's place is surprisingly a jack of all traits. They had a birthday party going on one side a bar on the other a buffet in the middle and booths where I was. Loaded potato chips to start off was A1 could use some extra cheese and some hot peppers but still good. The famous Italian grinder was light but filling a lot of good flavors in between that brioche bun, curly fries always a good decision over regular fries ! I was a little hesitant walking into the place the other day but the friend i was with said it was decent so i placed some faith and took a seat. The beer selection was awesome (four different short's brews on tap) and the happy hour specials were not bad either. I ordered the dinty moore sandwich with fries and a house salad. The salad was incredibly fresh and the croutons were really tasty. The sandwich was also delicious, however they put on a lot more slaw than corned beef, I get really ocd about ratios when it comes to sandwiches. Another minus was the pop music they were blasting. Granted we were seated right under a speaker but I had to raise my voice a little just to talk to my friend sitting right across from me so he could hear me over the song "toxic" by brittany spears. This place use to be my go-to, but the service is such garbage. Didn't even end up staying long enough to order this time. I went to the restroom upon being seated at my table. While in the restroom, the bartender was also in there and didn't wash her hands and even said something to me about how she "would wash them at the bar" and immediately went out and started making drinks. My family and I used to frequent Petes place before their expansion... Loved it! We visited once after the remodel and it was good then, however my daughter, her boyfriend and I decide to stop after pumpkin hunting. BIG Disappointment ~ Food was bland, service was mediocre, it took 20 minutes from the time we ASKED for our bill and she took the payment. My paddy melt had no flavor, my daughters tuna melt, made her sick to her stomach just after eating, her boyfriend order the buffalo tenders and he was under impressed- however he said the salad and baked potato were very good. My sister and l stopped for late lunch the waitress was busy cause they sat down 5 tables one right after the other and she was by herself. A older gentleman came in after we were already seated. He started complaining to a young man and that young man went up to the waitress and ordered her to wait on him next and it should have been us next. My sister started to complain to the waitress she offered to bye our lunch because she knew l had heard that young man order her to take care of that man. We found out that that young man was Pete's son. Wow. What a way to run ur fathers business. Should be first come first served. We just found this little hidden gem on Doordash, and what a find!!! So close to us, and the menu is huge! We ordered the Baked Mac n Cheese with delicious breadsticks, potato soup, and fish & chips with fries. Everything was cooked perfectly, and tasted absolutely amazing. The prices are extremely fair, alcoholic drinks are even available on Doordash so I really can't wait to go hang out at their large bar seen in photos!! We can't wait to try out their happy hour soon, the location is easy to spot and right off the highway. Thank you for your business during these times, we will DEFINITELY be there soon as this is our new spot! Already recommending you to friends and family! Slow service, food was not good. Party of 7. Gave it 2 stars because 3 out of the 7 meals seemed to be ok. Has all the makings for a great restaurant but just isn't. Egg Benedict which the server said was popular was extremely salty, ham was overcooked and the poached eggs were hard. The meal was lukewarm at best. One of the people in our parties has a gluten allergy and server recommended pancakes to her. . Which are heavy gluten. Would expect a server to at least have an idea what gluten is. Ordered a veggie omelette and it was barely warm and had items in it that were asked to not be in it. Never got toast with omelette because she forgot and then forgot again. Stopped asking. . . Sausage was so over cooked it was hard as a rock. Service is incredible slow, to be greeted at our table was 10 mins. Stopped in for lunch yesterday. My daughter and I ordered the same thing. Potato soup and half a grilled cheese sandwich. Soup came out right away, cold. Waitress disappeared and did not return to send back. After half an hour she came to apologize about the "new" cook. She promised it would be right out. I have frequented this restaurant with my boyfriend for at least 3 years. The food is pretty great however the service has declined dramatically recently. On our most recent visit ( we go here at least 3 times a month) we were greeted by a nice hostess who seated us . We waited 15 minutes while the restaurant only had 3 other tables and no one ever came to our table. We watched 4 hostess working ignore us and we saw at least 3 servers working (with 3 tables ?) not even try to ask if we wanted a beverage! We sat for 15 minutes without acknowledgement and finally left. Whoever owns this place needs to rethink your staffing and management. Took 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order after being seated. The egg on my burger was supposed to be runny but wasn't. My boyfriend was to get red skin potatoes instead of fries but they brought him fries instead. Food was good and they are good about keeping the table busssed but they lack in gettin your order right. We are on a special diet so having us pay for things we can't eat is just wrong. Ordered food from them on door dash a couple of times. Always order a sandwich but never get any chips or any replacements for said chips even though their menus says you get chips with the sandwich. Called to talk to someone and they basically just said they were out and to call door dash. I understand you may have been out of a product but typically if you don't have something you substitute it with something else. This isn't the first time this bus happened. Now I have a 2 meals that are incomplete and one that won't be eaten because of how incomplete the meal is. I enjoy this place, it's hard to get a seat here they are often very busy cause they are easily one of the best restaurants in Taylor , Michigan. Great for any meal, great place to hang out and drink. They have recently expanded their kitchen due to increased carry out business. So they've lost seating . If there isn't to long of a wait to get seated I highly recommend this restaurant.. especially the eggs Benedict for Sunday brunch. Huge omelettes, great breakfast and a very large menu with decently sized portions. Everything is good here! I don't know how this place only has 3 stars it's easily a four star to five star restaurant but people post how they feel at the moment or maybe they don't want more people to come here cause the wait times here can be long and irritate people. Cause the place is so darn popular!! Seriously people love the place and yet because so many people know about the place they get slammed and people give them bad reviews. Walked in yesterday late afternoon with family. We had four in our party. We asked to be seated in a booth because my husband and I both have back problems. There were three empty booths in the back but we were told we could not sit there because they didn't have a server for that area. (Mind you, this was a Saturday going on 5 PM) They wanted to sit us at a table that was in the middle of what would be considered a walkway but we declined. The server asked an older woman who was behind the counter if we could sit in the booth or another booth somewhere else because we wanted a booth and she answered very loudly "Well that's just too bad...that's how the world works". The server looked at us apologetically and shrugged. Had the older woman answered the server in a lower tone where the whole place could not hear her comment it might have been different but we just looked at each other and could not believe how rude this woman was. We left as did two other couples waiting behind us. There is no reason for that kind of rudeness in the service industry. If you have something to say about a customer, say in private, not where the whole restaurant can hear. Rude, snotty, arrogant staff is not the way to generate customers or repeat customers. Friday is fish night during Lent. Pete's Place has very casual, friendly atmosphere. Audrey was polite and handled her job well. I have been here before and have had mixed reviews of the Lemon Pepper Cod dinner. Tonight I thought I would give it a try again. Well I was happy with the clam chowder soup, which had good flavor. Main course the cod was not cook enough and was cold. The cod was also over seasoned with garlic butter. The red skins had way to much garlic. You want to taste it not go home smelling like it. Cod was recooked, came out the second time cooked properly, but who likes to wait while others eat. I'm not saying don't try this place but some food is a hit or miss on quality. I will not be returning!! -Service VERY SLOW. It took 45 mins to get fish and chips on a Wednesday and the place wasn't crowded. The fish was typical however, the fries were terrible. How can you mess French fries up. -waitress brought out water, holding the cups against her nasty shirt -the table next to me asked the waitress for napkins . Well since I am trying to give local businesses MY business I gave it another try...big mistake. First off our order was wrong. She wrote the order for fish instead of shrimp. ( I could have made fish at home) So I called...I was charged for fish so ok no big deal but why was my bill so high?? They charge 3.50 for service charge! What?! I ordered over the phone and picked it up. Why would there be a service charge. Answer: we are charging all orders. I asked is this due to the pandemic? She said yes. W. T. F. ?! I knew from the second that I walked in that I wasn't going to like Pete's Place. A rumpled and harried waitress ran past us and yelled "sit wherever you can!". Ummm, ok. Then came the uncomfortable task of trying to tell which diners were leaving, which tables were dirty or clean, etc. For Heaven's sake...even Denny's has a hostess! The service was bad, the food was meh-ish. It wasn't anything I couldn't get in one of a thousand places down telegraph road. The worst part of our lunch was hearing the servers bicker back and forth, and someone in the kitchen constantly screaming the girls names to pick up their orders. The decor suggests they are trying to make it a coffee and dessert type of meeting place. I noticed that the desserts have those generic advertising cards on the tables, so I'm assuming they aren't made in-house. Why bother with Snickers Cheesecake if you can't make it yourself? We stopped at this place because the building looked nice and inviting. Unfortunately we ignored the warning sign in front: "Experienced Cook Wanted." The service was O. K., a little slow, but O. K. The food on the other hand was horrendous. I had a "Mexican Burger." From the menu description it sounded pretty good, a burger topped with chili, cheese, onions and diced tomatoes. What I got was a frozen burger, that had been re-heated, topped with a sugary, tomato-based, bean chili (I was expecting a coney style chili, though this is my fault because I did not ask). Even though I was asked how I wanted it cooked, the burger was so well-done it tasted, and chewed like cardboard and actually had painted-on grill lines. I ate maybe 10% of it before giving up. My companion had the spaghetti. The bowl the pasta came in was 2/3 filled with what can only be described as pink water and the sauce, I am told, was way too sweet. My companion probably ate less of his dish than I did. We thought, well, maybe this Oreo pie they have will make up for the terrible entrees. This place has decent food but if you have a food allergy stay far away. They have horrible if any food allergy training. Most of the items they "don't know" because the remove the bag of food from the box it comes in and they store it that way.... so there is no ingredients on hand and who knows about expiration dates. It wasn't just one waitress it was multiple that have been bitchy about "dealing" with a food allergy. They act like your a huge inconvenience.
