On January 8, 2026, I brought my 2017 Mercedes-Benz E 300 to Pete's Service Center. The previous day, I called to discuss the issues I was having so they could repair them. I informed them that the automatic transmission would return to park when trying to shift to drive, and that it required several shifts before the transmission would skip to 3rd gear, after which the vehicle would run. I also informed them of an airbag malfunction message that appeared upon startup. I was told that they could fix those issues and bring the vehicle in. The next day, Pete's called, saying I needed a new transmission costing $14,000. I paid their service charge and retrieved my car. Pete's advisor, Brad Wilkerson, printed a four-page invoice with no repair information other than the transmission estimate of $13,395.90. An emailed invoice only showed photos of my vehicle. I brought my car to Mercedes-Benz of Indianapolis on January 14, 2026, requesting the same repairs I wanted from Pete's Service Center, and the 100,000-mile scheduled maintenance. Later, the Mercedes advisor told me their total cost would be about $6,000.00. I picked my vehicle up from them on January 21, 2026, and it runs well. I received text messages from Pete's on January 23, 2026, and February 9, 2026. The February 9th message said, "We made some recommendations for your 2017 Mercedes-Benz that you haven't taken care of yet." On February 13, 2026, I went to Pete's Service Center to tell them they did nothing to my vehicle to warrant a $212.09 charge. Also, I informed them that the Mercedes-Benz dealership repaired my transmission and much more for less than half the cost that they were asking. The advisor said, "We don't repair transmissions, only replace them with a used one." When I asked about the airbag error message, the advisor said, "We don't work on airbags." I told him that I would not have brought my vehicle if they had told me that in the beginning. I asked why they were texting me. The only "recommendation" they made was to replace the car's transmission. The person I spoke to offered a free oil change, which I declined. After I visited them on February 13, they sent what appeared to be comprehensive diagnostics to my email. I believe these were fake. Pete's Service Center is a dishonest business and should not claim it can repair Mercedes-Benz or other vehicles. read more

Our car had a flat tire, and we had it towed to Pete's. We received via email a quote that was alarming for several repairs that seemed expensive and urgent. After calling them to ask what was happening, the owner got on the phone with me to explain the suggested repairs, apologized for sending the communication without calling first, and took care of the tire. We got the quote for the repair, and it was more than a standard tire and balance, but we were okay with it. Although this was a stressful experience, I was pleasantly surprised that the owner acknowledged the poor and confusing customer service and was willing to learn from the experience and make it right. I really want to like a Pete's service center. However, I should have read prior reviews.... We brought our 2015 Porsche Macan S in for an issue we were having with an uneven idle during cold starts. At the time, it was giving a 'reduced engine power' warning. We were told it was a battery issue. However, we were never provided any of the fault codes showing what was casuing the problem. After spending $1100 on a new battery, this issue still persits. Prior to this service, we had our oil changed. Not only was the belly cover not properly reinstalled, but two fasteners that hold it on were missing. Most recently, I brought my 2004 Porsche 911 in for an alignment. After getting the car back, it was still pulling to the right. I then brought my car back in to have it realigned and for an intermediate flashing coolant light to be looked at. Again, I got the car back, and it was still pulling to the right. I asked to have the alignment spec sheet emailed to me... but never got it. I have since requested (4 times) to have the spec sheet sent to me for review. Each time, I have been given an excuse, which makes me belive it was never done. Regarding my coolant light, it was still flashing when I got the car back. When I inquried about this, I was told that my sensor connections were cleaned, but I probably needed a new collant tank, even though mine was replaced 20k miles ago and shows no signs of yellowing or cracking. After doing my own research, I was able to stop my intermediate flashing coolant light with a 130 part that took 20 minutes to install. Petes solution of replacing the coolant tank would have been a costly and un-needed remedy. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but my services were questionably done, if at all. So where do I start......I hit a pothole coming from Carmel back in early June. This caused my car to make a springy noise when I made right turns. I took my 2020 Volvo XC40 there for repair. The total repair was over $4k. This was to replace the sway bar that was damaged. A gentleman who I will be kind enough not to name was my service point of contact. I picked up my car 2 weeks later. He said, "If you hear anything, just bring it back. In my mind for $4000 grand I shouldn't be hearing anything. After a few days in of driving, I hear a rattling sound. I talked with my fiancé and he said parts should be under warranty, take it back to them. Before I did that, I took the car to Midas and had them to put my car on the rack. That's when the discovery was made that the sway bar I had Pete's repair was in fact not repaired, it was broken. I ok a picture and Midas was kind enough to provide a print out as well. With this information in hand, I return to Pete's. The gentleman who shall remain nameless had a deer in the headlights look when I returned. I presented my documentation and photo from Midas to the shop manager. That's when it was discovered something was broken on my car and they took it out of the system (I guess if it's not there, it's not a thing). The shop manager advised there was a mistake on their part and they would replace the part at no cost to me. Part was ordered and I dropped my car off again. Car drove fine and that rattle came right back. And to Pete's I returned once more. This time I had a mechanic drive with me so they could here what I was hearing. I was given an explanation as to why the rattling was still occurring and it was something to do with the amount of torque needed to make sure the sway bars were in place like they should be. This was in October. We are now in the month of November, I am still hearing a slight sound. This makes me mad and pisses me off. I've actually referred people to Pete's as I believed in their attention to detail and commitment to service. At this point, I don't feel as though I should have to spend another dime with another shop when all of my money was spent there. For me, there are 2 alternatives, return my money where I can take it where the work will be done correctly or I come there until it is done right. The fact that this will be the fourth or fifth time is beyond ridiculous. If Volvo is not a vehicle you know how to work on , just say it's okay to admit it. Make it make sense. read more

NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE THEY WILL SCAM YOU. TAKE YOUR CAR LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE. Check engine light came on in my car and my usual mechanics couldn't get to it for a couple weeks so I took it to Pete's. It was a Friday and I was told they'd do a diagnostic and get back to me. After hearing nothing back for days I called back on the following Wednesday and they finally sent me the form showing the work that was done. There were dates that showed when the inspection was done and it was done on the first day I took it in! Then they just held it for 5 more days. Moreover, they followed their usual business model of recommending $4500 of repairs I didn't need when all I needed done was a new small part that cost $300. Anyways, I once again hear nothing from them until I call the following Monday, and of course the car will be done within the next two hours! Within an hour of picking my car up, the check engine light was back on and my car was making a new noise it wasn't making before I brought it in. The positive reviews you see are likely all fake. If you read them they all look like they were written by the same person and they all mention "Brett," who I never came across in my many phone calls but I will say is a great name for a made up mechanic. I called my usual mechanic afterwards and when I said I had taken it to Pete's I could hear the disappointment in his voice and said I would've been better off taking my car literally anywhere else. If I could give 0 stars I would. Tl;dr Pete's kept my car for 10 days to do a diagnostic and a 2 hour repair and the problem was worse when I got the car back. I'm not sure where to start???? So they fixed my AC leak and I have had no problem since, but they also made and made up a new problem. ??? They told me I had a rear broken sway bar think and that it should be replaced I called a local shop that charges less as Pete's charges more because their extra. When I took my 06 Toyota rav 4 to said shop they said nothing was broken in the back??? Then 6 months down the line I go to check on my air filter that they replaced as my cars starting to spell weird and my whole air filter was crumbled??? Look I'm not sure how to review them. I took my Saab to Pete's Service Center today. I recently discovered that my A/C unit stopped working. Its been fine in the past, but since the temperature is heating up out there, I wanted to get this figured out. I knew it could be a number of things, but the first and most likely problem is simply a blown fuse in my car. I explained that to the rep at Pete's and he said they'd take a look. When they looked they told me the compressor isn't working at all, and that to hook it up to their equipment and test it and put freon in it should it be low would cost $250. I would have thought that was reasonable, except that I had already spoken with Saab of Fishers, and they said it was $125-150 for the exact same service. So I told Pete's not to perform that service. Essentially they have awful pricing and I didn't really trust them. Go elsewhere! read more

I have an unusual vehicle. It is a 1977 MGB that has been modified such that it is powered by a V6 accompanied with a 5 speed transmission. I let it sit without running it during COVID and yes it developed a ton of problems. You typical repair shop won't touch this vehicle with a 10 foot pole. However Pete's Service Center took it on and brought it back to life. I can't say enough good about the knowledge and customer service of Mike Halikowski and his crew. Had a really poor experience last time I came in. I've been taking my bmw here for 3 years and it's always been expensive and slow, but this was the straw that broke the camels back. They previously did some work for me that was covered under warranty so I thought I'd take my car back in to make sure it wasn't the same issue as before. It turned out that it was in fact the same issue and that they would cover it under warranty. Here's where things get interesting... They also wanted to replace a speed sensor and in addition to the sway bar and U links in the front. It wasn't the fact that they told me the work needed to be done, it was the fact that they didn't tell me it needed to be done for over 8 days and wanted to charge me over $3000 dollars to do the work (that's after they subtracted the parts and labor for the things covered under warranty). After a week of calling, complaining, and asking for answers they finally offered a rental and did SOME of the repairs. I had to bring my car back in a second time to finish what they started and replace the simplest and least time consuming fix (their words not mine) which was the speed sensor. I've been a loyal customer for 3 years but it is highly unlikely that I will be returning to Pete's or making any referrals in the future. They tried to make it up to me by comping the speed sensor and labor in addition to explaining why it took so long, but I still felt like they yet again took advantage of me and hung me out to dry with little to no remorse. Especially given they up charge parts OEM parts anywhere from 50% to 100% more than what they pay for them. See the photos below for proof. They charged me $156.43 for a part that cost $91.99 at advanced auto parts (which is also overpriced compared to parts geek or other similar part suppliers. They tried to make it seem like they we're saving me $500 dollars when in all reality they threw in a free $90 part and a little free labor on a $3000 repair. I might not know the most about car repairs, but it's plain as day to see that this place is out to make a profit and nothing else. Feel free to try them out for yourself as I know many residents in the Tarkington neighborhood feel they do a great job, all I would advise is that you consider the fact that there are countless garages in Indy and the surrounding suburbs that will likely give you exceptionally better customer service and also help you save hundreds if not thousands on your car repairs. read more

I went to the dealership for a long time, but never felt I was getting very personalized service or attention. I really like this smaller neighborhood shop and their people a lot. Eric and Seth, the managers, are always very friendly and knowledgable, and take the time to explain different aspects of repairs to me, which I appreciate a lot. And the technicians do excellent work, my car is always in perfect condition! They alert me of any problems they come across before they cause me trouble. These guys really know their stuff! -after service was completed they charged me $10 for fuel to drive the car around. Also, a 7% supplies charge! -First off, i remember looking at the gauge while driving there and there was a quarter tank (no need for more fuel), the guy gave me a old looking receipt with the day's before date. i showed him and he said "oh ok" and rummaged in a bag and pulled out one with today's date. I just had a WTF look on my face and paid the stupid ten bucks. when i left there was less than quarter tank... -I had my BMW aligned by them. I installed all new suspension components myself. I know there is nothing needed but the machine and the tools they already have and will continue to have to do the alignment. so i asked what supplies could have costs $7.14? He said "everywhere charges this, it is for supplies to do the job." I said " isnt that what should be included in with the 100 dollars you are charging me?" I paid the stupid $7.14.... - to my surprise the car drove GREAT, i assume those extra charges give them the motivation to do their job correctly and timely i might add. - the good with them is that they did my alignment the next day and had it done by 3pm. -If you take your car there, bring it there with a full tank of fuel and ask what supplies will need to be used to do the job that will only be used this one time!! read more

Car wouldn't start, took it to Pete's. They hold it all weekend (as they're only open Monday-Saturday). They call us Monday, tell us it's the starter. They replace it that day. The tow, diagnostic and starter came to $675. Way overquoted. It's a late model Rav 4, not a vintage BMW. We don't want to tow the car to another shop, so we bite the bullet and let them get one over on us. Tuesday, the very next day, not 20 hours after giving them nearly $700 and a getting a "full diagnostic" and clean bill of health the car refuses to start. They come out, take it back to their shop and are now claiming they need to "make adjustments". When pressed as to what manner of adjustments are needed, and why they weren't made the first time, I was told that now it's the battery that is dead. Even if it doesn't cost me another red cent, it already cost $150 too much. Now I'm considering taking the car to yet another auto repair place, just for peace of mind. You add to this the sexist comments my wife got when she brought the car in the first place (only a woman could break a Toyota, hur dur caveman BS) and this place won't be seeing another vehicle of mine. You're supposed to leave these places feeling as though you've a reliable ride once again. Not my experience. I will say this though, at least they'll smile while f@#$ing you, and that's not nothing! EDIT: Was contacted by Eric, who called my wife a liar (by claiming he leapt to her defense, he didn't) and told me he was happy with the job they did. I'm glad that he thinks charging $120 for a "full diagnostic" in which you don't check the battery is good work. What a joke. If he spent half the energy doing his job that he did responding to negative reviews, his chop shop wouldn't be at 2.5 stars. To add insult to injury, I finally get a working car from them, and have a flat tire this morning. The cause? An automotive bolt lodged in the back passenger tire. I was also recommended a battery as my tested bad and I was not paying attention to rough starts. Battery was replaced and car starts like a clock. Definitely coming back in case something happens. These guys must be paying yelp to delete bad reviews. Just a few months ago they had a 2 star review average. I've reviewed this company twice already and every time I come back, it's magically gone, replaced by positive reviews from people who probably work there. These people are crooks. They take your business, hold you hostage with fear tactics and try and force you to get something "fixed" that wasn't even an issue before you went to the shop. And they charge you an arm and a leg for it. Staff is rude (and a bunch of liars), mechanics often don't repair vehicles correctly on first try. They claim that they record all of their repairs, but when you actually ask to see the video, they come up with awful excuses and refuse to show said "recording" Don't waste your money here. They charged $59.19 labor, and then added $54.23 for Synthetic Oil (Did not list the number of quarts used and NEVER discusses this with him) & Filter plus $9.07 Shop Supplies. (Almost 10% of the bill - ridiculous!) They suggested over $3,000 worth of useless repairs on a 2009 Toyota Highlander. I told him he should have gone to Jiffy Lube and paid half the amount. I have been using the service in last three years. The owner, Eric, is a great guy. The front desk manager was also decent. But in the last several months, a new front desk manger, I think name Brat but not sure, has been in charge. Now you feel robbery is going on. Always a lot of problems, more than $10,000 estimate, not trying fix what the problem you ask to be fixed. Last time, I brought my car in due to the noise of wheels. The estimate was $15,000 but when I asked just to fix the noise, I was told to replace the four tires and alignment should solve the problem. After $1500, the noise is still there. I was asked (emailed) to go back to fix all the problem for more than $10,000. I will not go back unless the front desk guy is replaced. Pete's Service Center continues to ask for my response to their recent work on my Jaguar XK. My opinion of their work is a strong NEGATIVE. After 6 weeks in mid-June through July 2021, Pete's repeatedly performed work poorly and required correct repair by Tom Wood Jaguar. YES, THAT IS CORRECT. PETE'S SERVICE CENTER PUT MY JAGUAR ON A TOW TRUCK AND DELIVERED IT TO TOM WOOD JAGUAR, WHO PROMPTLY FIGURED IT OUT AND REPAIRED MY CAR! Initially, Pete's attempted to repair a leaking water pump. Since that repair, their certified technicians created for me 6 weeks of engine warnings, restricted performance episodes, and poor drivability issues. Pete's could not diagnose or fix the problems they created. So, after fruitless time going back to the shop, discussing more repair work, and more delays by "Josh", "Brett" and including Eric Grabovsky, the owner, real experts at Tom Wood Jaguar fixed my Jag. You see, it seems that professional diagnosis, correct reconnections, care when reassembling engine components and ensuring no contaminants (like coolant fluid) are present is REALLY IMPORTANT! My advice is to NOT RECOMMEND Pete's Service Center to Jaguar owners. My further advice regarding returning for warranty work under the 3 year/36000 mile Technet Professional Warranty -- NO WAY, ARE YOU JOKING! Based on my recent experience, poor service work, even worse customer service, and deflections and delays, only absurd "flapdoodle" awaits anyone who takes their Jaguar to Pete's. While Pete's did pay for the tow and the work by Tom Wood Jaguar, I received only a partial refund on the EXPENSIVE and TIME CONSUMING work caused by Pete's. Again, and to be crystal clear as a Jag owner, about Pete's -- DO NOT DO IT. read more

I took my Audi to Pete's because it was misfiring. They quickly diagnosed the problem as a dead cylinder that had a compression leak and possible damage to the cylinder head. Initially, I was told they would put together estimates for rebuilding or replacing the engine. They never called to tell me how to proceed with repairs. I had to continuously follow up with them and either my calls were not returned or I was told they were working on the estimates. Finally, after three weeks, and prompted by my calls, I received a text update saying they don't have the ability to repair my vehicle due to time and limited staff. I wasn't very pleased that they left me hanging for three weeks and was charged $470.00 in diagnostic fees with not option for repairing. The manager was very helpful in recommending a shop that could possibly repair. Of course, no shop is going to use diagnosis from another shop and would not provide any sort of estimate without diagnosing themselves. Realizing, they left me in a bad situation they said it would be fine if I left the car there while I found a shop that would do the repair. I did end up leaving the car there for 3 weeks. No one called saying I needed to pick it up. No one ever mentioned any storage fees. Then I received a notice they were putting a lien on my car for $2,500 due to storage fees. I was able to argue with owner till they agreed to not charge me the storage fee but I still had to pay the the diagnostic fees and still have a broken car. The right way this should have been handled was for them to discount or waive the diagnostic fees after declining to work on my car. I thought I was taking my car to a specialist who has a reputation for being able to do comprehensive repair. I previously had positive experiences with Pete's but I will never use them again. read more

I have had terrific experiences both times when I took my BMW 528i to Pete's. The first time was in late July when I needed my front control arms replaced along with some break work. The cost was reasonable and I felt the quality of work was outstanding. The second most recent visit was necessitated by a blown tire. I was driving down meridian and a tour bus cut over into my lane and I blew out my right rear tire jumping a curve to miss the bus. It just so happened I was near Petes when this happened. I attempted to change my own tire but the stock BMW jack was trashed. So on a whim I called Petes for help. They sent Travis over in 10 minutes with a jack and he had my tire replaced in no time and then he had me bring my car back to the shop to make sure the spare was in good shape to drive. And they didn't even charge me even though I asked them. You don't get that level of customer service from big repair places like Dryer, which is why I will always be a loyal customer of Petes for years to come. Thanks again Eric and Travis for the outstanding customer service. I wish I would've read the reviews prior to taking my car here the second time. I had similar problems as what has been described in other reviews. The first time I brought my VW in for a 60k mile tune up. Was quoted less than $200 over the phone. Next day they called me and said my car was ready so I went to pick it up. My bill was for over $400. When I asked what changed they said some stuff that I didn't understand about "XX" needed replaced. I'm a pretty trusting person so I didn't raise a huge fuss other than ask why they didn't call me to authorize the service. They apologized profusely for that, so I figured I'd give them a second chance. HUGE MISTAKE. I needed an oil change about 4 months after the above and I also got a half off coupon for AC service. It was the middle of summer and my AC seemed to be struggling a bit, so why not? Again quoted at less than $200 over the phone for both the AC and oil change. Next day they call me and said that the oil pan needed replaced. He said really it was just the plug, but they couldn't just get the plug for this VW model, so they had to replace the whole pan. I should've asked to see it in person. Because I think the mechanic stripped the plug himself and then just said it "went bad". Just my opinion. I told him not to repair it because at this point I had read the Yelp reviews and talked to TWO friends that have been abused by Pete's in the past. They said they would make me sign a waiver to take it somewhere else so they wouldn't be held liable for damages from their shop to another. I decided to just have them fix it, because at this point I thought they would purposely sabotage me and supposedly their work carries a 24 month warranty. So since they broke it, might as well have them fix it, you know? So, again they apologized and assured me this needed to be replaced. "Let us do it the right way" they said. I basically gave up at this point and let them do it. I went in to pick up the car. No small talk. Paid $535. Drove it home and Eric from Pete's called to tell me there was a puddle of oil underneath the car after I left and to bring it back. By the time I got the message they were closed so I had to bring it back the next day. I thought if I checked the oil spot in the morning, and it wasn't too bad, I would take it somewhere else, but of course, there was a massive oil puddle below my car in the morning. Since there was a warranty and I was afraid to drive too far to a different mechanic (Pete's is less than a mile from my home), I took it back. They "fixed it". It doesn't leak anymore. But I gave them two chances, and they blew both of them. What should've cost $400, cost me $1000. That's bogus and a complete joke. I urge everyone not to go there. They take advantage of the wealthy old people in the Meridian Kessler area and hope people don't catch on. Stay away!! They can't handle the most basic maintenance! Oh but they did give me a $5 gift card to the coffee shop next door for the inconvenience, so there's that. GTFOH. read more

They inspected a noise coming from the back of the car whenever I hit a bump or pothole and quickly identified it to a fix that only cost $162 for both sides. When an alternative store wanted to replace all rear shocks, mounts, etc for over $1000. Work took less than an hour. Friendly staff and nice location. A1 read more

I can't say thank you enough for the great service that I had here! I knew that I needed an oil change and new brakes on my Range Rover. The free inspection because I am a new customer was great! I look forward to the next time I take my vehicle in because I know the job will be done right, and done in a very reasonable timeframe. I spent over $900 to have my brakes and alignment fixed here. It took a couple tries (and days) to get my brakes to stop squeaking, but the job seems to have been done satisfactorily. They were very nice and professional, and offered me a ride to/from the shop each time I had to come. When I went to pick up my car, however, I was told that I needed $1000 worth of further repairs. These repairs were "urgent" and could not wait 3 months. After doing some research online, I was a little skeptical. I called a couple of other shops describing the work I needed done, and each time I was quoted no more than $350. When I actually took it into one of these shops, my car was found to have NOTHING wrong with it.
