    Chicken fried steak meal

The staff was friendly. We were in town visiting so don't know where anything is and stumbled on Pete's. After getting a seat we promptly ordered and got our drinks. It took a good hour to get our food and when we did the mashed potatoes were a bit cold. They seemed to be instant potatoes (which I don't have an issue with) but they were incredibly dense and pasty due to not enough water. I had to take a drink after each bite. The gravy was also extremely thick. Wasn't my favorite food experience but the decor was cool and waitress was nice. Sorry I couldn't praise the food more.

Disaster! I don't think this place will ever improve, but with the same owners/management then why would it? We had a waitress that was new and didn't know hardly anything about the menu, but I understand you have to start somewhere. We watched multiple people receive actual meals that sat down after we had already ordered, but yet we still hadn't received our appetizer of mozzarella sticks or side salad. We asked the waitress multiple times when the items were coming out and always got the answer it should be coming right out. Finally got them, but then had to wait forever on our actual order! We ordered a specialty pizza with no pepperoni and a steak throughly cooked with loaded baked potato along with veggies. I sat there and watched people that had arrived much later than we did eat their meals and leave while we were STILL waiting on our food! Our food FINALLY arrived only with multiple issues! The pizza was a hamburger/sausage, NOT a specialty without pepperoni. The baked potato along with the corn was cold. The steak was luke warm and TOUGH! It was so tough my father actually got choked on it! My dog at home had a hard time chewing it and she weighs over 150 pounds! I spoke to the owner/manager only for her to make all kinds of excuses for the problems. A new baked potato and corn was brought out that was hot. We received our specialty pizza WITH pepperoni on it! The pizza wasn't even warm!!! At this point I just gave up, no since of even saying anything else because it was the owner's way or the highway. I'll take the highway and just won't come back! The only thing taken off the bill was the 3 ice teas and I think that's just because the waitress forgot to put them on!! Complete nightmare! Save your time and money! We were in there over 2 hours!! If I could give a zero I would!

we sat there for over an hour and when we got our food it was cold. The pasta and the Greek burger was cold, along with the fries. The gyro was tasty but the pita was burnt. Very sad to see something with so much potential go down hill since august. We waited at least 7 minutes for a hostess to acknowledge our presence. It was only AFTER we asked about seating were we acknowledged. We sat for at least 10 minutes before our waitress acknowledged us. Where is the training for us inter service? I don't care how great your food is! If you don't have customer service people will not return! Train your servers to carry out food when it is in the window OR hire a runner! Train your servers to acknowledge their tables whether they are able to wait on them or in a few minutes! Where were the refills? Need another drink? Very sad to see!

I was in the mood for enchiladas so it hit the spot. It had a ton of cheese. I would have enjoyed more red sauce to cheese ratio. The chicken enchilada was my favorite, followed by the cheese&onion. But that's just what I usually favor. The ground beef was good. The salsa was... a bit odd. My husband said it tastes like it hung out in the fridge awhile. I think he was right. It was real cold and kind of bland. It just wasn't my thing. The chips were very bland and needed salt. But, I appreciate that I can easily add salt, which I did. Those who are trying to limit their salt intake would be able to eat the chips too. My husband got a burrito thing with refried beans on the inside and pork chili and cheese on top. It was a tiny bit spicy in a good way. It was decent. I'd come back, and try something else. For the money, this place is a good value if you think about it. You'd spend more at Taco Bell for the same amount of food and this is better.

For me I appreciated the fact the enchiladas were not drowned in either a red or green sauce and the nice part was they were able to stand on their own. I was able to enjoy the enchilada wrap and able to taste the actual ingredients. The staff were extremely efficient and respectful of everyone in there. I'm an old building buff and I like the way they were able to bring the Mexican atmosphere while leaving things like the original ceiling and other parts of the historic building alone. I will eat here when I'm in the Atchison area.

They have plenty of inside seating and a lovely deck for nicer weather. I did notice that the more the dinning area filled the louder it got. My hubs ordered the special and the $2 margarita. I got the herb chicken bacon pasta. The margarita was terrible! It tasted very watered down and lacking alcohol. He did not even finish it! The daily special sandwich was a beef brisket with slaw, jalapeños and Gouda cheese. He said it was very good however he could not taste the Gouda at all. The sandwich came with salt and pepper fries that are definitely a show stealer! They were a wide thin cut and seasoned perfectly. My pasta had a generous serving of herb chicken on top of Bucatini pasta in a creamy garlic sauce with spinach, bacon and cherry tomatoes. It was flavorful without being over garlicky. I would have liked if it was served with some bread to soak up the delicious sauce. Our server was attentive. Our food came out quickly. Overall it was a good experience though I would avoid the margarita special.

They don't even have a real sign, just a humble chalk board leaning up against the building. Reservations open a couple of months in advance, and they will fill up. I managed to secure a reservation ($25 deposit/person) on my girlfriend's birthday luckily! The menu changes seasonally. Many of the ingredients are sourced locally at peak freshness. Cheese from the creameries down the street. Beef from local farmers. Apples from the server's grandpa's farm. You watch the chef preparing everything in the open kitchen. We opted for the $90/person prix fixe menu, and it's the right choice. You can try so much of the menu. Everything was delicious. I think I finally understand what the judges on Top Chef mean when they say a dish is perfectly balanced. Even the whipped cream on the sticky toffee pudding changed my life. You will leave stuffed and happy - with your life changed. KC folks - I promise it's worth the drive out to Weston. Make it a day trip. Shop around, visiting a winery, tour Green Dirt Farms, end your day with the best meal of your life. Please leave mega early for your reservation time to find parking though. Downtown Weston will get parked up at night. Don't be late for your reservation time (but don't show up too early either). Remember, there are literally 4 tables. They can't seat you until the party before you leaves.

I went in for their pierogi's, and they didn't disappoint. Flavorful, filling, the dumpling was grest. I got a half dozen and cooked them up myself, a little boiling, then fried in butter, but they will cook them for you. They sell specialty sauces, flours, spices too. Such a cute shop make sure to stop in next time you are in Weston.

Luckily, that is where the JC Wyatt House comes in. Not only is the food top rate, but the entire experience is amazing. At the JC Wyatt House, you have dinner in an intimate, small dining room inside a Victorian Mansion. Here is how it works. They are only open on Thursday and Friday, 1130am to 1230pm, for lunch and Wednesday thru Saturday, 530pm to 7pm for dinner. Reservations are required and you will choose your main entree for all of your party when you make your reservation. We went for our wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. We arrived a few minutes before our 6pm reservation and were seated. At exactly 6pm, our server, Chris, started with our choice of hors d'oeuvres. Either a potato and fresh vegetable soup, or shrimp cocktail. My wife had the shrimp, and I had the soup. Both were outstanding. For dinner, I had the lamb, and my wife had the filet mignon. Both came with potatoes, carrots and a roll. Again, both meals were outstanding. We finished with a dessert trio that was amazing. Besides the fantastic meal, the service was first class, and the ambiance was really special. This is a must visit for an amazing meal. Call today and get your reservations.
