    Selections of savory croissants
    Karlo G.

Petit Pierre Bakery has 2 locations, one in Phinney Ridge and one in Magnolia. I decided to visit their flagship shop in Magnolia. The store is located in the charming area called Magnolia Village. There's available street parking around the neighborhood. The shop does not have indoor seating however they have a few outdoor tables for customers. The sight of their pastry case compelled me to leave my carb and sugar intake restrictions at the door. Their pastries are a work of art. They were neatly arranged, labelled, and stacked. It was a visually stunning display of buttery, sugary, and savory goodness. The croissants had beautiful golden brown flaky layers. There were other baked goods such as danishes, coffee cakes, cinnamon rolls, monkey breads, sandwiches, and other artisan desserts. I ordered a ferrero roche petit supreme, dubai chocolate cruffin, and a four cheese & proscuitto croissant. The four cheese & proscuitto croissant was the right amount of savory and topped with greens and cherry tomatoes. The croissant had delicate layers of buttery pastry dough. The dubai chocolate cruffin was a decadent experience. The croissant was dough baked in a muffin tin and filled with a sweet mixture of pistachio and chocolate cream. The ferrero roche petit supreme was my favorite. The pastry was filled with hazelnut cremeux, dipped in chocolate crunch glaze, and topped with a half ferroro roche chocolate. Absolutely indulgent! Service was fast and friendly. The staff moved quickly and ensured our orders were packed and rung up. I would absolutely go through Seattle traffic again just to experience their other pastries and sandwiches.

I've visited the Petit Pierre on Phinney Ridge multiple times, but never this one in Magnolia until recently. This one's a much smaller bakery that's takeout only, with no seating inside and what seems to be a smaller selection of treats. There are some tables and benches outside for people who prefer to eat their pastries on the spot. We originally visited to pick up a TGTG bag but after stopping in and seeing all the delicious pastries in the window, we also decided to purchase one additional freshly baked pastry that looked too good to pass up. Pistachio Cassis Brioche ($6.75) - Great flakiness and lamination, filled with pistachio paste and black current curd, then dipped in chocolate and topped with crushed pistachio. It's sweet from all the sugar, tangy from the jam, and nutty from the pistachio, and yet some of the rich buttery notes from the dough still comes through. They call this a brioche, so it's probably brioche dough laminated with additional butter. Other than being a little darker in color, I can't really tell any difference between this and normal laminated croissant dough. Perhaps really the only way to tell is to have a plain pastry of each side by side - the addition of fillings and toppings really diminishes the difference in my opinion. (5/5) As with Phinney Ridge, the pastries the Magnolia location serves are excellent. This is a must visit any time I'm in the area. Bathrooms: No available bathrooms from what I can tell.

I was in the area running an errand and decided to pop into this bakery for funzies. Its been on my list for quite some time and boy am I glad I finally checked the place out. Very decadent pastries with a lot of flavor. Ranges of richness to their baked goods. I tried their Pistachio Dubai chocolate rolled croissant, their pistachio chocolate standard croissant, 2 kouign Amann, and lemon berry Danish. All very delightful except their kouign Amann. The ones I had were extremely salty. Not sure if it was intended to be that way considering I had two. Probably won't risk a third attempt. That's just me though. My favorite item was their pistachio Dubai chocolate rolled croissant. Wasn't too monotonous, but again I had coffee which was acting as a palate cleanser. I'm hoping to try their bread pudding the next time since I love bread pudding. Another thing to note. The items are pricey, so I'll use it as an excuse to treat myself to something good every once in awhile if I'm in the area. Not an everyday affair for me.

Really great pastries! A cute setup inside with all the pastries lined up just waiting for you to snag em. customer service was friendly and open to explaining what was available and any questions that I had. Dubai chocolate petit supreme: wow this was my first circular croissant and this was so tasty! The pistachio flavor was outstanding and the textures were great. The chocolate was good quality and overall a tasty treat that wasn't too too sweet Pistachio chocolate croissant: one of my favorite croissants now! Flavor, delicious. Layers, YAS. Really good, give this one a try

When I lived in Seattle this was my go to bakery, and now that I have moved across the country I miss it so much! Petit Pierre's croissants are the best I have had the US so far, and rival the croissants I have had in France. They are the perfect amount of flaky and buttery without being greasy and falling apart. Their seasonal croissants are always excellent as well (Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner croissants!!!) and the rotating flavors for croissant supremes and cruffins are usually unique and always delicious. I highly recommend the Bacon, egg, and cheese croissant for breakfast! The cinnamon rolls are great too. I have also gotten a birthday cake and epiphany cakes here and they were top notch as well. Thank you for all the amazing treats!! My pro tip is to visit the Magnolia location and get pastries to go, then drive 5min to Ella Bailey park for a beautiful view of the city and Mt. Rainier (if it's a clear day!)!!

this is my new favorite bakery in seattle. In particular the cardamon honey role was phenomenal. it was caramelized on the edges with honey and the aftertaste was the perfect amount of spice. The dough itself was soft and spongy as well. All the pastries looked phenomenal but im glad we got that one. The coffee was pretty great as well. Not only that but I brought my own mug and they were able to fill it and even give a discount for bringing it. they were super friendly and fast. Being right in front of the farmers market was the perfect spot to grab a bite while you walk around.

2.5 I think quality would be different had these been consumed immediately and not within a few hours. Tried a variety of things and they weren't bad but they didn't blow me away. The best pastry was the croissant supreme- held up well, super crispy croissant and amazing fresh blueberry jam. Dubai cruffin was lackluster, almond croissant was dry and lacked filling, strawberry custard wasn't too sweet and the little cake was crumbly. I liked that all the pastries were too sweet.

    Caprese Croissant

I made a much needed stop at Petit Pierre during a 8 mile urban hike, for a croissant. I ordered a seasonal Caprese croissant and throughly enjoyed it. The croissant was flaky and buttery, you could see all the layers. I also love the idea of Caprese on a croissant. The mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil all tasted really fresh. My only feedback would be that it would have been even better warmed up. Usually, I hear them offer this, but the cashier didn't give me the option. Petit Pierre is a cute little bakery, but be aware that they only have outdoor seating. I took my pastry and sat at one of the tables on the sidewalk. A good option for a sunny day!

I was so thrilled when my friend took us to this delectable bakery in charming Magnolia! They had buy 2 get 1 pastries toward the end of the day. The nearest restrooms are in the Starbucks and the Bartells. There are little tables to eat at outside and there is a wonderful bookstore next door. - Ham and cheese croissant: excellent and classic. I especially liked the flavor of the crispy cheese. - Snickers mousse: this was deceptively huge and had so many interesting textures! The shortbread was crumbly, the middle soft and cakey with crunchy nuts, and the mousse melted in the mouth. An absolutely delicious, chocolatey, and well-balanced work of art. - Pain aux raisins (raisin bread): light and airy with plenty of plump raisins. I wasn't the biggest fan but my friend loved it! - Berry flat croissant: it tasted exactly like how it looked: densely crunchy, buttery and flakey, with a delicious sweet white chocolate berry dip. I'm dreaming of when I can next come back!

Guava Cruffin, Pistachio Cassis Brioche, and Strawberry Rhubarb Supreme
    Arlene S.

I've heard lots of good things about this bakery and am excited to try their pastries. I ordered the strawberry rhubarb supreme croissant, pistachio cassis brioche, and guava cruffin. The pastries had great texture. I really like the guava cruffin as the cream was delicious without being too sweet. The pistachio casis brioche was loaded with strawberry cream in the center that was a bit too tart and strong for my taste. However, the pistachio was aromatic and delicious brioche. I was excited to try the supreme croissant, but the strawberry rhubarb jam was too sour for me.

Petit Pierre is one of Magnolia's best bakeries that always has a line out the door. They make both sweet and savory pastries as well as cakes and refrigerated desserts. The pastries are freshly made everyday and range in price from $4.50 - $9 each. We went on an early afternoon on a Saturday and they still had a wide selection of pastries. We got the PLUM CLAFOUTIS, the MONKEY BREAD, the ALMOND BRIOCHE, and the DULCE MANGO PETIT SUPREME (Cronut). The PLUM CLAFOUTIS was my dad's pick. For reference, a clafoutis is a French fruit tart with almonds. The plums were tart and tasted like sour cherries. The tart was buttery but didn't have a lot of almond taste to it. The MONKEY BREAD had raspberry jam and cinnamon pieces. It was made of croissant dough, but was drier than I would have preferred. I was expecting more of a chewy cinnamon roll texture, but this monkey bread was more flaky than chewy. The ALMOND BRIOCHE a was decent. The brioche was fluffy and had a layer of apricot jam filling which was absolutely delicious. The crunchy toasted almonds added great texture to this pastry as well. Of the pastries we tried, the DULCE MANGO PETIT SUPREME (Cronut) was the best. It was coated in a cinnamon glaze (think like horchata) with pieces of crunchy cereal on the outside that almost tasted like muddy buddies. The cronut was flaky and had a mango cream filling that wasn't overly sweet. I've never had anything quite like this dessert before, but all of the flavors really came together. As far as atmosphere, the bakery is very tight with little to no indoor seating. There's only enough room for a line and a line out so you really have to take your pastries to go. In the back, they sell coffee, chocolate bon bons, mugs, and other gifts. Service was good and they were prompt to help customers move through the ordering line. Overall: 4/5 for pastries, 4/5 for service, 3.5/5 for atmosphere

I wanted a pain au chocolat, not an almond pain au chocolat. Sorry! AMBIANCE - 4/5 A very busy bakery/café located at Pike Place Market, near Starbucks. I liked the wall décor and the overall cozy vibe. Finding an empty seat may be a challenge? KOUIGN-AMANN/PAIN AU CHOCOLAT/MERINGUE - 2/5 Kouign-amann - 0/5 It pained me to give a kouign-amann such a low score, especially because it is my all-time favorite pastry. But this one was so subpar that I could not even finish it. It was, frankly, a complete waste of butter, flour, sugar and labor. I once lodged a complaint with a GM and Director of F&B at a certain Ritz-Carlton because their kouign-amanns were so bad that I asked them to stop whoever was making them. Since then, there has been a huge improvement, and that is what genuine feedback should accomplish. Pastry integrity is of utmost importance, and pastry crime is hardly forgivable. Pain au Chocolat - 2/5 Doughy and deeply disappointing. I simply cannot reconcile this with the fact that Le Panier has supposedly been a beloved fixture of Seattle's food scene since 1983. MERINGUE -- 5/5 Can anyone possibly mess up a meringue?? It is extremely disappointing to visit what is supposed to be a legendary, quintessential French bakery in Seattle, only to find that the two pastries I was most looking forward to, the kouign-amann and pain au chocolat, were both such letdowns. A café/bakery cannot survive on service and ambiance alone. The pastries have to deliver too. Time to rehone the baking skills, Le Panier.

This was such a cute place! It had been on my list for a while so when a friend suggested to meet…read morethere, I was happy to oblige. There was plenty of seating around 1 PM on a Thursday. It was busy but not crazy packed. They had a lot of options for pastries and drinks. I'd never had a London Fog before so I decided to get that. It was so good! I'm a big earl grey fan, so I figured I'd like it. Very sweet but not too much. The pastries all looked absolutely fabulous. It was hard to choose, but I went with the black sesame macaron. I'm a big black sesame fan. It was really good. The staff were also amazing! So kind and friendly.

Revisited Temple Pastries and ordered everything my heart desired. Scheduled an online order, which…read moreis super easy to do on their website at least 3 days ahead of time and lets you skip the line! Overall, I'd say their pastries were generally good not great and were significantly sogged up by 12:30 PM when I grabbed em. Their patisserie is stronger than the pastries IMO and while I wouldn't wait in a crazy line, it's still lovely neighborhood spot and perhaps the pastries are a better texture earlier in the day. Highlights: - Miso Roasted White Chocolate Cronut: My favorite item in their current rotation. The cronut was a tad soggy, but the buttery texture inside is still satisfying and the miso white chocolate filling is lusciously smooth and perfectly balanced between savory and sweet. - Blackberry Corn Mousse Cake: Blueberry mousse is the perfect fluffy texture and the corn is very subtle. The sponge cake is light and perfectly contrasts against the bottom layer of crunchies to add a bit of variety. - Blueberry Corn Croissant: Pastry also held up quite well on this one with the outside still being quite crisp. The inner cream unlike the mousse cake is very corn forward with a bit of blueberry jam to balance it out. Skip: - Black Forest Cake: Found the cake to be a bit too firm with the cream filling to be a little bland and too firm as well. Just wanted this to be better than it was. Also, it looks totally different from the photo on their website heads up. - Tomato Basil Croissant: Just found this to be off ratio wise. The only tomato is the 3 small quarters of cherry tomato at the top and a light smear of basil cream. I can see this being very good, but current form factor isn't doing it any favors.

I ordered a 16oz iced oat milk mocha and loved how perfectly the chocolate was incorporated into my drink! It tasted sweet and the coffee added the robust flavour I love in my mochas My boyfriend had never tried a Moroccan Fog before and he loved how sweet it was without him having to add sugar. He especially loved that it had just the right amount of mint flavoring without being toothpaste For breakfast, I ordered their fruit danish! I love that they had different options of fruit to pick from and I chose blueberry! The pastry was perfectly flaky and I loved how fresh the blueberry tasted. My boyfriend ordered the chocolate croissant because he was excited at the idea of the chocolate being piped through the croissant and also drizzled over the top, but it turns out the dark brown parts on top are just design and not more chocolate. Still, he was pleased with the amount of chocolate in the croissant and the bite I had was heavenly. The champagne cake caught my eye as I was ordering and I just had to try a bite, it was absolutely delicious and fresh. I loved how light the cake was and the layers of flavour through the whole dessert! I love how bright and airy the cafe is! My boyfriend and I were easily able to find seating by the windows and enjoyed the gorgeous view of the space needle and people watching as we shared breakfast. The staff here was also patient and welcoming. We'll definitely have to come back and try more of their pastries!!

I'm here for coffee. I did not try any pastry as I was having lunch much later…read more Coffee was good. For a single barista who also did all food orders, she was quick. Coffee is good but not a wow. Food like the croissants seems to be not fresh. They did not have the look of freshly baked considering it was around 9am. Not sure but did not have the glow or lopk when I see a pastry. Nice place though. Lots of tables and space. They were busy.
