Since they are just down the street from my job and I had a little bit of extra time this morning, I decided to stop in and try one of their breakfast options. I arrived just a few minutes after they opened and ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. I appreciated that I had various options to choose from for what kind of bread I wanted the sandwich on. I initially thought to go for a croissant but ultimately went with the kaiser roll and I'm glad I did. The bread was perfectly warm and soft. Though I realize now that I never got her name, the woman behind the counter was very friendly and we had a nice chat while I waited for my order to come out. The place itself is cute and seems to have a lot of appetizing options along with its own little store. I did need to get back to work so I ordered my sandwich to go. It came out quickly and I was on my way. The delicious smell of it in the car ramped up my expectations and a short time later, my taste buds confirmed that the high expectations had indeed been met. It was still warm when I took my first bite and I was truly impressed at the perfect balance of flavors. One of my biggest pet peeves with these kind of sandwiches from nearly everywhere I have ordered one is that the bacon is often soggy and/or undercooked. Luckily, the bacon on my sandwich from Savory Gourmet was cooked to perfection. It was crispy and as delicious as it smelled and looked. While a $10 sandwich is a bit steep for a regular breakfast indulgence, it is reasonable for a large and very tasty occasional treat. It was filling enough for me to skip lunch today since it left me satisfied enough to get through the day, which is a nice plus. Honestly, I probably could have only eaten half of it and been satisfied, which I considered, but it was so good that I ate the whole thing anyway. My first impression here was a good one, so I will likely return as soon as I get a chance to. I think I may try something for lunch next time around. We tried one of each. I tried the Knife and Fork Brisket Sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese. The sandwich comes with sliced brisket, house BBQ sauce, SOTF slaw, and a mission bakery sweet potato roll. My family tried the Pulled Pork and Broasted Chicken sandwiches, as well as the Smash on the farm Burger. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful.
