Petite Violette is known to serve fine French specialties for over 45 years. They have got an amazing collection of red wine, but I personally always go for a Rosé if I'm given the option. For their food, I thought the crab cake had the perfect texture, not too dense and doughy. I have heard great things about their Beef Wellington, but too bad it has pork in it. So I tried the filet mignon instead and it was cooked perfectly to a warm pink center. When it was time for Dessert, I got my usuals- the creme brûlée because I think you never go wrong with a creme brûlée. Im not sure if it's the type of restaurant where you'd go with friends and chill, it's more of formal place where you'd go on a date or a special occasion. read more

Authentic French cuisine in metro ATL. 3.7/5 Stars -- Here's Why: Atmosphere/Vibe: The location of this establishment is right off of the interstate on Clairmont Dr. Walking in, the property has French themed decorations and gives a somewhat elevated dining experience. Parking: Parking was pretty slim. You also have to valet during peak lunch and dinner hours. Customer Service: The customer service was pretty good and the servers were extremely personable. Food: Here's why my experience began to deplete a little bit. Although their menu offered some pretty awesome items, it was the actual food that didn't necessarily meet my expectations. We ordered the Bolognese and Salmon. Both were extremely bountiful in portion but lacked in seasoning and flavor. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't inedible but could've used a little more TLC when it comes to seasoning. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Kedrick(sp?) was our server and he was EN POINTE! I attended a surpass birthday dinner for a good friend of mine. We were able to choose our meals in advance. The pear vinaigrette on the salad was AMAZING! The bread was warm and sooooo soft. I chose the Chicken Cordon Bleu W/mashed potatoes, gravy and PERFECTLY steamed green beans. I ate ALLLLLL of my food! It was so good that I forgot to take a picture. The roast beef was AMAZING! This is my second time dining at this little piece of France in Atlanta. To be honest, I'm not sure just how authentically "French" the menus is; what I do know is the food is delicious, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. I had the special, which was a generous, perfectly seasoned and cooked sea bass with sautéd spinach and whipped potatoes. All delicious My colleagues had the rib-eye special, fillet mignon, beef Wellington, and a Caesar salad. All were well prepared and enjoyed. I will be back again. read more

Good food, great service, and nice ambience. They practice social distance between tables, silverware was wrapped in plastic, and all staffs wear masks. It was a birthday dinner for my friend who visited from out of town so we were greeted with "Happy birthday" from all staff at the reception when walking in, and also greeted with "happy birthday" from all staffs at entrance when walking out too. It's a bit funny that all the staffs know it's a birthday dinner, except our server but she was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu which I appreciate, and friendly. Also, when she knows it's a birthday dinner by the time we finish eating, the dessert was on the house with a candle on it, which is nice. I don't go well with onion or spicy so our server keep that in mind and have the kitchen to take that out of my entrees without me telling her. I highly value her consideration about my diet. We had Escargots and Mussels for appetizer, Cesar salad, Rainbow Trout and Beef Wellington for entrees, Profiterole for dessert. It's my friend's first time having escargot and he loves it. It was not the basil sauce style that I normally see with escargot dish but the cream sauce compliment the snails very well. The best part of this dish to me is the cream sauce. The mussels are good, the sauce is a bit thick for my taste but I still enjoy the dish. Just as our server recommend, the Cesar salad is really good and because i really want to try the prosciutto, our server has the kitchen add in some prosciutto slide in our salad though it's not recommended since the meat flavor is too strong for the cesar salad. Again, I appreciate how our server cater to my request. It helps me to try out the prosciutto without ordering the whole prosciutto salad. According to my experience with several other restaurants from French to Italian ones, I imagines pink thin slides mildly salt flavors prosciutto but the prosciutto here at Petite Violette is no normal prosciutto. They are prosciutto with dream, and their dream is to become bacon. I get to give them credit because they achieve their dream so well. Without being told they are prosciutto, I would think they are bacon, thick crunchy salty bacon. Even their color and appearance look like bacon (you can see them in the photos). They still taste good and with every bite, I still wonder about the want-to-be-bacon prosciutto. Entrees are good. It was my friend's first time having Beef Wellington and he really enjoys it. My trout was good. The fish was fresh and tender. We especially love the dessert. The mini profiteroles are good bite sizes and look so cute. They go with pistachio ice cream but since we're not a fan of that flavor, our server was able to change it into vanilla flavor for us. The dinner ends on a good note. It was a nice experience. Considering the good services, food quality, and restaurant decor, the price are pretty affordable. I'm glad I discover this restaurant to add in the French restaurant list. read more

I walked in during lunch alone and was planning to work on my laptop while waiting. It was a surprise reaction to the fact that I was eating alone. I waited about 10 minutes for a server to greet me once I was seated. I ordered French onion soup, scallops and risotto special with creme Brûlée for dessert. The soup was fantastic, the risotto was cooked to perfection and the creme brûlée was under cooked and lumpy. It was a slow day and long wait for the food. I didn't mind because I was working. The folks sitting near me complained about the wait for the food. I hear the servers say that everything was made fresh in house. The decor is pretty neat and I wish there was a little background music playing to create the full ambiance of the cute little spot. read more

I've been taking my wife to this restaurant since she was my girlfriend, 8 years ago. Violette is my family name, and I'm related to hundreds of people named 'Violette'. We liked the place so much we had several engagement photos taken there as the backdrop. I thought this would be the place we would go for our anniversary every year. Until tonight. I made sure the reservation specifically said special occasion/anniversary. After being seated maybe 10 minutes, the hostess seated a group of men that ordered drinks as they were coming in the door...( "the usual!" one particular verbose man yelled) right behind us. They were so loud I had to move my seat just to hear my wife speak and so she could hear me. Then, despite telling the waitress 3 different times my order - and pointing it out on the menu - she still brought me the wrong food. Only after I sent the food back did the manager decide maybe it might be a good idea to see if there were any issues. I got to pay $175 to bring food home in a doggy bag because by the time my meal actually arrived, dinner was over. My dog is now enjoying $50 worth of scallops, and I decided to go to a fast food restaurant where at least my order will be correct within 4 times of placing it. My husband surprised me for my birthday and got a big group to go to the Murder Mystery dinner. So exciting and fun! The parking lot is a bit difficult to get into because of location and size, but they do have valet. The actors for the dinner are extremely funny and quick on their feet. Everyone attending the dinner has some kind of role. If someone gets a line wrong, or something happens, the staff reacts quickly and with a comedic response that matches the scene. They had a bar set up near the dining room, but it was very slow. We went up front for drinks. The lemon drop martini wasn't the best, and they give too much ice for a crown and coke. The food was spectacular. I had the salmon and loved every bite. My husband enjoyed the beef medallions. My kids enjoyed the shrimp pasta. There isn't a kids menu, but we made it work. The show is for ages 10+ so I feel there should be a price for kids and include menu items catered to them. Otherwise, we had a great time and we would love to see another show they have. read more

The drink I ordered was made incorrect ( it tasted like my at German spritz had almost an ounce of lemon juice in it), the room was as bright as a classroom, the live musician could not pronounce French correctly, the escargot was served with a cream sauce (?!?) and was chewy and tasted off, the salad was wilted and swimming in dressing, the pasta was ok but I ordered it with shrimp and it came with salmon. The bottle of wine was good, but that was the only French thing consumed that evening so it makes sense. The service was good but our server didn't care to ameliorate the experience. She did not clarify the order after receiving it. As a server in a fine dining restaurant myself I of course did not want to cause a scene and said nothing about my disappointment- this said I do not expect any action from the restaurant because closed mouths are not fed. This said, I would recommend you go elsewhere for a special occasion. The ticket was $400 dollars (for four guests) for what was a very underwhelming meal. I've had better experiences for far less money at cafe Alsace, kimball house, deer and dove. I ordered the Salade Petite Auberge - Fresh Mushrooms & Avocado tossed in a Creamy Avocado Dressing served with Sliced Hearts of Palm, in House Vinaigrette - it was very good. Also the Chicken Cordon Bleu - Chicken Breast stuffed with Turkey Ham & Gruyere, lightly breaded & fried. It came with mashed potatoes & green beans and it was fine but nothing special (photos attached). My family has been coming to Violette's and Petite Auberge for decades. I was inducted into my HS French Honor Society here in the 90s. So yeah. A long time. My Mom was in town for the weekend so we decided to make a trip back to our old stomping grounds to see how it's held up. Well, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The lovely patio was full, so we sat at a booth inside. Covid precautions were still in effect, which was nice - wrapped silverware and napkin bundles, single-use paper menus, etc. The decor is a bit dated, and I imagine some people would ding it for that. They do have a lovely glass art piece on display that was made by an artist who worked with Chihuly. They do not currently have a cocktail menu, but our helpful waiter let us know that they could make drinks to order, and the wine menu had some great selections in both bottles and by the glass. We began with two French 75 cocktails, and requested the cognac version instead of gin. They were sizable and tasty. Next we shared two apps: crab cakes and the Mushroom and Avocado salade au Petite Auberge. This salad has been around for over 40 years, as my Mom had it before I was born. I can see why; it was very tasty and quite large - our split portions were still huge. The hearts of palm were a delicious addition. The crab cake was also very yummy, and served with a Sun-dried tomato remoulade and a bit of salad as well. I could have stopped eating at this point and been very comfortable. But on to the main course! I had the Coq au Vin, which was very good. You get a chicken leg/thigh served with mashed potatoes and the traditional red wine sauce, pearl onions and mushrooms. It was a very comforting meal. My Mom ordered the Rack of Lamb, medium rare. It was cooked perfectly with a mustard and bread crumb crust. She absolutely loved it. Now that we were stuffed, we forged on to dessert. We shared the Profiteroles. The pastries were not as light and warm as I have traditionally had, but the pistachio ice cream was not too sweet and a wonderful end to the meal. Add a 10-year tawny port, and my evening was complete. Overall, we felt it was stepping back in time to a beloved restaurant from our past. We'll definitely be back! Note: I have also been for lunch within the last couple of years and had the Trout Almondine. That was fabulous as well for a lighter meal. read more

I attended a recent Christmas party here and it was my first visit. The food and drink were very good, service was pretty good, but I have to caveat that there was a large group of us - maybe about 50 - and that's a lot of people to handle at one time, especially when everything is coming out at one time. I had the beef bourguignon. It was DELICIOUS. And they have excellent bread that came out piping hot. The crème brûlée was just ok though...I've had much better. I took my wife to Petite Violette, Murder on a White Lotus Wednesday on Sept.30th. Show was fabulous unlike the food. I used to dine there a long time ago then they served really good food, but I was surprised how the quality of the food has gone down so bad. I had shrimp with pasta which I couldn't take more than one bite, the shrimp was not real shrimp, I think was fake. which I believe most average Chinese restaurants use these days. My wife had Chicken Cordon blue, which was fried covered with bread crumbs??? That is not how French prepare Cordon Blue. I wish the brothers who run the restaurant adopt the way their father used to serve the food and keep his good reputation. read more

So I wanted to try something different, but slightly upscale and I settled on this restaurant. Doesn't have a great overall rating but something told me to try it anyways and I'm so glad that I did! I had the Beef Wellington and the house Merlot. At first, when I cut into it, it was actually raw. I thought maybe this was how it was eaten but the waitress promptly took it back when I showed her. A new one came in about five minutes. It was REALLY good! Perfectly cooked this time. The potatoes and asparagus were also nicely done. It was four pieces of giant asparagus. The potatoes were the perfect consistency - not too soft but with just enough bite. Not sure how they made the asparagus and potatoes, maybe steamed? But soo delicious with the sauce. And the puff pastry around the filet, loved it! Soft and crispy at the same time. The house Merlot was actually better than the Bordeaux I sampled, which was more expensive. I have been wanting to come to this restaurant for years but never pulled the trigger. I wish I had because the food was amazing. The place: located on Clairmont Road near I85 in an older building. This place has been here for as long as I can remember which is only about 20 years (probably been here longer). The inside is older looking but has a large space and a nice patio. My only complaint about this place is one of the fans and the amount of dust on it. The fan was off and above our head. It is apparent it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Food: we shared the mussels, which were probably the best I have had. The white wine sauce was delicious. We also shared a caprese salad. The tomatoes were large and very fresh. For dinner, I went with the lamb dish. My girlfriend chose the scallops. Both were so good. I am not sure which one I would choose next time because they were outstanding. Dessert: creme brûlée and bread pudding. I am not a big creme person but the gf loved it. I really enjoyed the pudding. Overall a great experience. Time to update this review. Petite Violette remains a consistently excellent French Restaurant. Service is good, drinks are well-made, decent wine list and a number of menu choices. During pandemic I thought this restaurant had some of the better take-out. There is outside seating, but it would be better if it had an awning or a roof. I love the Petite salad with hearts of palm and avocado. You can make it a meal all by itself. I'm still not fired up about the valet parking where they sometimes only have to move your vehicle about 25 feet. read more

My friend had her wedding rehearsal dinner here. It's a really cute French restaurant and if you're not paying attention, you could totally miss it like my friends and I did. We had a prix fixe menu that we were able to kinda mix and match. My three friends and I decide to get different things so that we can try everything. We weren't disappointed with anything. Our main course consisted of New York strip with mushrooms in a port sauce, salmon in a leek sauce, chicken in a burgundy wine, and roasted duck all served with veggies and mashed potatoes. I was very pleased with everything. The deserts on the other hand were just OK. We had the chocolate mousse and pear tart. This place looks small from the outside but can hold large parties, we had about 40 people in our party. Went for the first time during Brookhaven restaurant week and boy did we make the right choice. This place is chefs kiss! From the variety in wine choices to the amazing service, this place had it all. The ambiance inside was cute, but the patio looked even better. Our waitress was great and super friendly. I had a salad with vinaigrette dressing, the beef bourguignon with carrots, mushrooms, onions and mashed potatoes and finished it off with a creme brûlée (my personal fav).
