We recently applied to adopt a cat through the adoption center at PetSmart, and the experience was very disappointing. It has been over a week since we submitted our application, and I have yet to receive any response. I've left several messages expressing our interest in adopting, but no one has returned my calls. From my understanding, the purpose of these adoption programs is to help pets find loving homes. Unfortunately, that did not seem to be the priority here. It's frustrating to hear the message on hold about doing "anything for pets," yet potential adopters cannot even get a simple call back. Because we never heard from anyone, we ended up visiting Petco, where we were able to adopt a kitten the very same day. He is now in a loving home, which is exactly what these animals deserve. PetSmart has the resources and platform to do great things for pets, but the adoption process at this location needs serious improvement. These animals are depending on you to help them find homes. Review: Poor Communication and Unprofessional Accusations I am beyond disappointed with the grooming department at the Milpitas PetSmart. I had a re-booked appointment today at 10:30 AM, and the experience was frustrating from start to finish due to a blatant lack of professionalism. Upon my arrival at pet pick-up, an associate named Isabelle accused my significant other of declining additional services when he arrived and re-booked the appointment with Evelyn. I called my boyfriend immediately in front of Isabelle to confirm; he verified that he absolutely did not decline anything and SPECIFICALLY requested the exact same services as our previous 9:30 AM booking. Despite the PetSmart app explicitly indicating that all services were confirmed, they ignored the digital record and only performed a basic wash. While Isabelle did eventually admit it was their fault at the end of the visit, the damage was already done. Being accused of a mistake that the staff actually made is unacceptable. I escalated the matter to the manager, Gloria, who was very kind and offered to redo the services not free, but at my cost. However, because of the initial accusations and the stress of the situation, I've lost all confidence in this location. The Bottom Line: I will no longer be using PetSmart for grooming or even purchasing my dog's food here. I highly suggest that the grooming staff learn to verify their own records before accusing customers of being untruthful. read more

The store doesn't carry the most unique products but they have plenty of standard goods to serve basic needs for all kinds of animals, which I appreciate. They also have reliable hours, open at night, later than most independent pet shops. The store was clean, organized, and well stocked during my recent visit. I had no problem picking up a couple of items for my bunnies, with service at the front register quick and easy. In addition, parking was plentiful right out front on a Monday evening. In terms of small animal products, I don't really trust a lot of the ingredients in the treats that they sell at big chain stores like this (ie. fruit flavored drops). But I got the vitakraft veggie pies, which I can at least sift through to remove anything I don't feel comfortable with giving my bunnies. They're due for a spoiling, and the chew toy selection in the store sucked, so this would have to do. read more

The store is dirty. Bathrooms are dirty and in many occasions out of paper products. Management is failing in several areas. Pets are not taken care of. Cat area is smelly. The cats have to live in horrible conditions. When you can find help from an employee they don't help you. They might say well check on isle ......instead of showing you. I could go on and on. Many of the employees rarely look happy. I now order all my pets needs from Chewy where they pride in customer satisfaction. read more

Some friends of ours were buying some food for their pet, so my wife and I decided to shop with them. It's a pretty big store and the customer service was friendly and helpful. The store has pet toys, crates/cages, aquariums, bedding, pet food, etc. Also, they have pet grooming and obedience training for dogs. This place used to be a nice place, with nice staffs. But a few days ago when having my dog there for a bath, I had a very bad experience with one of the staff. She was so mean when I picked up my dog, also ordered me and my dog to step outside while she was talking with another client. I usually don't have problem with the place but today was particuliarly bad. The cashier today was a sweetheart. Management however, was poor. I was sick, and wanted to get my order curbside pick up so there's less of a chance to infect others. I also wanted to do quick pickup before I work at home. However, this location has sometimes forgotten to say it's ready so I can't do curbside on the app. I went inside to check quickly with a cashier, mask on, who then asked another coworker in grey. They said it' not ready and will go get it. We waited 15 minutes, but needed to leave. The women who I assume is the supervisor complained in earshot to another coworker that we only ordered 6 items. I was sadden to hear that there's no understanding of customers time or reasoning. read more

I usually don't leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share this experience. I recently took my Golden Retriever in for grooming, and unfortunately, I was really disappointed with the results. The cut on both of his front legs was uneven and poorly done--it looked rushed and unprofessional. On top of that, the hair around his ears wasn't trimmed at all, which was something I expected as part of a full grooming service. Golden Retrievers need careful attention to maintain their coat, and sadly, this grooming did not reflect that level of care. read more

I have always preferred pet smart over petco. The store is very clean and the workers are kind and helpful. My hands were full with items and holding my dog's leash and the worker helped me package the treats I picked out and bring them to the register. the prices are decent & a bit cheaper in comparison to Petco for dog food / dog treats especially with the discounts. Terrible experience with the groomers. I called today to ask if they clip cat nails, they said yes. I asked if they take walk-ins, and they said until 3pm. After a 30 minute drive I arrived at 1:30. When I entered the grooming area I was told that they do not take walk-ins, and that I needed physical proof of rabies vaccination. I was not told any of this over the phone. In fact, when I asked about claw clippings and walk-ins they woman I was speaking with put me on hold to get those answers. The lack of communication caused a 1 hour drive for me for no reason. I am shocked at how unprofessional the grooming area is. read more

I placed a same-day delivery order through the PetSmart App, which I believe is fulfilled by DoorDash. When my order arrived around 7:45PM, I noticed that two items were missing. I called the store and spoke with a manager named Tai. He informed me that they had accidentally left out one bag of items and asked if I could come pick it up, which I couldn't. To my surprise, Tai offered to deliver the missing items to my home once his shift ended. This level of customer service was outstanding! I came in with my family to buy a fish. It was only three of us. I split up to walk a different aisle to browse the accessories. One of the workers followed me around making it very obvious that he was watching me. It made me very uncomfortable. First of all, I am not going to steal from a pet store. Second of all I'm with my family. The worker didn't have anything better to do but to harass the customers. Then when purchasing the fish and fish food, the cashier made a statement to feed the fish "twice a week." I asked, do you mean per day? she said no. I've taken my pup here 3 times to get groomed. I've had pretty good experiences 2/3 times. The first time I took my puppy when she was about 4 months old for her first puppy groom. Andrew was super friendly and patient when I first dropped her off. Aylin was the groomer assigned and she did a great job at trimming near her eyes and giving her a great puppy groom. She looked great! The second time I went was not bad but I did not like her "haircut". It was not with Andrew or Aylin and I don't want to name names. The haircut didn't seem like much was done. She was clean for sure but haircut was barely a haircut. It was a puppy bath and trim (I think?) so I understand they were trying to get her more used to getting groomed but I would've preferred when Aylin groomed her the first time. Came in for a third time groom with Andrew and he was very sweet. I had a 9am appointment but was late. Andrew called me while I was driving and he was super understanding on the phone and just briefly explained that I would potentially have to keep her there longer since I brought her in late. He offered to reschedule if needed too. I was already on the way and my dog needed to be groomed so I was ok with all that. Once I arrived, he checked me in and explained to me about the process of everything. He spoke to me about what kind of length I was thinking of and felt her to see if there was any matting. He was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of advice on what I can be doing at home to prevent matting and such. He let me know that he's going to go at my dog's pace because he wants to make sure she's comfortable. When I came to pick her up, she looked so clean and cute. Andrew said she did a great job, that she was very nervous but never reacted negatively to getting her haircut and such. My family all complimented Andrew's grooming when I brought my pup home. We will for sure be booking with Andrew or Aylin again! read more

Pet Smart has been good to us over the years with several locations. We've had great experiences from grooming, training treats, leashes, supplies, hotel, and daycare. The staff has been friendly and much appreciated by our pets. You can always count on them having crates, beds etc things you need last minute to replace sometimes. And boarding last minute has been a life saver. They were friendly to him and he was super happy for the few days he stayed. When you have happy pets it means everything to you. read more

Worse customer service at checkout. I waited in line to have a sweater checked at a different store because they didn't have the size I needed. After I got to the front and asked them to check a different store they said they couldn't do that. I have gone to pet smarts before and they have checked with other stores. Also I checked online for the sweater and size I wanted, the app said it was in stock at that store. I wouldn't have mind if they put the slightest bit of effort to try to help me but how quickly they brushed me off was ridiculous. The staff is a bunch of young adults, but they are some of the most friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff I have seen. They are very attentive to all the customers who are there and stay busy. When it comes to buying cat food and litter PetSmart is where I do my shopping usually they prefer the high end brands and not the cheap ones and cats have meticulous taste. They have a whole line of products for cats and dogs along with a display case of parrots, lizards, guinea pigs and a mouse. They even have aquarium display so many of them with various fish and you can buy one that comes in a tall glass cup. Staff are there to assist so I never had any problems seems like most of the complaints pertain to pet grooming and training. Still PetSmart is number one in my book and have been coming down here for the past eight years. It's located right next door to Marshall's in a huge parking lot. read more

I bring my dog Cookie here about every 3 months for a full bath and haircut. I've booked with different people each time I've went because it's what fit best in my schedule but every-time Cookie looks amazing after. All the staff are very kind and attentive. They put a bandanna on her this time (at not cost) and she looked so cute. They always grind her nails down for me as part of the package and I think grooming here is very reasonably priced. Outrageous. Be wary of the fish here. I usually come to PetSmart for fish and fish-related goods. PetSmart is already notorious through social media about their mistreatment of fish. Post Covid, they have been doing great with taking care of the fish, and making sure all fish are alive. However, their quality of fish and fish caring has been going down tremendously. One instance, I came to PetSmart roughly two weeks ago, and found a few Bettas with Ick. When I pointed it out to a worker, they said that the betta "usually looks that way and will stay that way". He did take away the dead fish that I also pointed out though. They don't have a policy against selling fish with Ick, but the workers seemed knowledgeable about what it is and still sells ick ridden fish to unknowing customers. About 2 Days ago, I came to grab a few feeders for my pond. I was appalled to find 3 dead bettas in the center of the display. One of the dead bettas we had previously seen about a week prior to our most recent trip. This is disgusting, as I saw many customers point out the dead fish, but none of the workers seemed to notice/care. SHITTY STORE FOR DOG TRAINING! MARK RIMAS- the Trainer is an absolute A**H**e! Story- I went in there for enrolling my 11 month old puppy into the class and immediately got registered by the store manager Victor. I went in there on the first day of the 6 week class. MARK RIMAS, the trainer literally seen zoned me and my dog and started the training for other dogs. Upon me notifying him that my puppy is also enrolled in this class, he asked me to take my puppy AWAY. Reason given by HIM- my puppy was not enrolled in his Beginner class! He didn't even maintain eye contact and asked us to LEAVE coz he said we were disturbing his ongoing class and enroll for beginner class! My question to the store is- WHY wasn't this mandatory beginner class requirement conveyed to us when we were registering our puppy in the class?! As I was inside the store waiting for someone to help me with my order, I was next to the first register closest to the entrance. I overheard an interaction between a customer who was buying dog food and the cashier. The customer seemed confused on how to pay, and it was clear that he didn't know how to speak English very well. The impatient cashier had scolded him and said with a firmly rude attitude, "Just read the screen. I visited this store on a lovely Wednesday evening. There is plentiful of parking. . Upon entering, there are signs for your pet's needs. Cats aisle to the left and dogs aisle to the right. This Petsmart is really stocked considering how short staff it seems. I was able to find my cat's food within a few minutes of searching. They had some pretty good deals, and I was very surprised how much more products they have. Thomas helped checked us out, and provided information to the Tag kiosk. My pup is older, so I don't take her to the store more often, but when I do take her on the rare occasion, she is so eager to pick out a new toy! I love the variety! read more

I recently took my cat here for grooming. Once he got home I realized that he was a lot more reserved and was hiding a lot instead of energetic like he usually is. I thought something was wrong with his health and inspected him to find his nails cut way too short. Some of his nails were open wounds as they cut into the flesh. I would not recommend bringing your pets here as it is always crowded and seems like they are not careful enough. My poor guy is still recovering and is in a lot of pain. read more

I'm somewhat a new but now have become a regular customer since November and have had nothing but excellent service given to my fur baby 'BOBA' .
