This store is well stocked and has an ample amount of employees to help customers on the floor. It's a great place to get healthy pet food and good toys. They have a veterinarian, Banfield, that does a great job. They often have pet adoptions on the premises. The dogs that I see come from the groomers they have are happy and beautiful. I gave them five stars earlier this year...why the change of heart? The grooming department. The last couple of times I have gone in there, the grooming department has been filthy. I know they are constantly cutting and brushing dogs, but somebody should zoom around with a Swiffer Vac every now and then. The hair is all over the floor of the client side of the room where I stand when I am dropping off my dog and frankly, it's gross. That wouldn't be a good enough reason to drop them this low though. My major complaint is that I went to pick up Hollywood a couple weeks ago from getting a bath and brush, while I was waiting for them to bring him to me, I witnessed two of the groomers yell at the dogs they were working on and jerk them around. The dogs weren't doing anything wrong!! One kept turning it's head while she was trying to trim it's face, and the other kept putting it's foot down while she was trying to cut it's nails. They are DOGS! They don't know any better! I am sure it can be a very frustrating job, which is why I pay somebody to do it, people who I thought were professionals. But I guess not. I don't want people yelling at my dogs if they don't want their nails cut or if they move around too much when they are getting brushed. To top it all off, I did email the manager about it. Guess what? I never heard back. Glad they care. They lost a client in me. I will be taking my dogs to a different groomer who I found on Yelp and has very high ratings. And Petco is actually closer to my house so I will just go there for all of my dogs other needs. By the way - three of my six fish and my snail died. Stupid Petsmart. read more

OK, I'm out The Pet Hotel has ended my love affair with Petsmart. After two bad experiences, I'm kind of just done. My wife and I had a couple of back to back weekend events and booked our dog to stay over a weekend and then the following weekend. I opted to leave our dog food there and went through the effort of breaking it down by meal per day for easy feeding. I would call and check on Maggie was told each time that she was doing great, just not eating much. Ok - sometimes she's like that when she's in a new place. When I went to pick up Maggie, I reminded them to get the food. They told me they didn't have any. I asked where it went and the employees disappeared in the back and the hotel manager (Gina?) said that if I wanted it saved, I should have told them because they throw away the food if it isn't eaten. So no apology or anything just "it's your fault and here's why". I asked for the food from that day, since I was picking up in the afternoon and there wasn't day-of food left. So I guess by coincidence this was the only day she ate all her food. I wasn't very happy after that, but since Maggie seemed fine I figured I'd stick with the following weekend's appointment. When I dropped her off the following weekend, I specified that I did not want her food thrown away if she didn't eat it - the employee showed me she put the request in the notes. And of course when I came to pick her up, there was no food left - even after calling and being told she wasn't eating much. No explanation by the staff - no one had any idea where the food went. So all the money I spent buying the expensive dog food at Petsmart just disappeared two weekends in a row. But that wasn't the worst part of this visit - when Maggie came out, she clearly had developed a cough. The employees kept saying she wasn't coughing, she was just choking because she was pulling so hard. So I guess Maggie was choking on the car ride home and throughout the rest of the week. I ended up taking her to the vet and she was diagnosed with kennel cough. First question the vet asked "Was maggie recently boarded somewhere". So the money I spent on dog food at Petsmart was wasted by them not returning my un-eaten food and more money was wasted at the vet because she got sick. And to top it off (I know I can't blame Petsmart 100% for this) she was also bitten by another dog. They did call and update me, but it was just another thing. One more thing that went wrong at the Petsmart Pet Hotel. Too many bad things in such a short amount of time. I'l never bring Maggie back to this store, which I am bummed about because she's been through numerous training classes and we had another one on the books for her. The whole experience soured Petsmart and I just don't have any interest shopping here anymore, even though my general shopping experience hasn't been terrible. But when I go to a store and spend a lot of money on a product, pet food in this instance, and then place I buy it from wastes the product and doesn't offer any service recovery for their mistake, not mine, it pisses me off. And then to have my dog get sick for the first time because I had her stay at Petsmart- too many warning signs to ignore. I was having brunch nearby and needed to burn a few calories before the trek home. As I pulled out, I just happened to spot this Pet Smart across the street. Yay! My cat has been in need of new toys, bowls etc and I just haven't had the time to properly shop for them so what better time than a lazy food coma induced Sunday?? This is a large store and I had it mostly to myself which was nice. I like shopping lonesome sometimes without others interrupting me, hogging the aisle etc. There were sales staff on hand but they weren't annoyingly obnoxious and obtrusive. Once they knew I was ok and just browsing, they left me alone. This store is very well stocked and I was able to find a lot of little goodies at reasonable prices for Roxy. $40 later I had pet food, new bowls, a new toy, a new collar and pet tag and some treats. Once I got home, she was happy to see all of her little treasures. Yay! read more

This review is strictly for the pet hotel. This is a heads up to all pet owners that treat their pets as if they are your own child. We dropped off our precious dog for a 3 night stay and the staff in the front were super friendly. We asked to see the see the suite to see her sleeping quarters they said no. Fair enough. We requested pictures throughout our time gone got zero! That's only the beginning. When we got home from vacation we went to pic our dog up we noticed on the way home her nose was cut and scrapped. We called the hospital immediately and they have no recollection of her getting hurt. They offered the hospital. Not good enough we want answers. It's like dropping your actually child off to day care and them getting their face cut and the day care center offering to send them to hospital. This horrible establishment takes no accountability. Now, the worst part another scar near her butt hole! When we walked her green diarrhea. What the hell is going on. My partner and I are so angry that we are going to contact corporate. This was a horrible experience for us. So please please please this place does not take care of your pets. I highly do not recommend this "hotel" read more

My dog has come back with fleas, snoring and a cough after her playtime here. So now I only allow one on one time and that seems to work out well. I was told they are so busy the last time I brought her for a stay that there's no time to clean up after the dogs or take them out. I am looking for another option for her to stay. DO NOT leave your pet at this location's Pet Hotel. We left our black Lab on Saturday and when we picked him up two days later he had a horrendous and painful irritation of his testicles. They were bright red. We noticed right when we got him in the car and took picture right there. The next day his testicles were still red and swollen. Our vet said it was caused by something in the room that irritated him or he licked due to stress. In either case no one checked on my boy or noticed or stopped it. How could they miss this if he was checked regularly as they claimed when I called to complain. I'm so angry. My poor boy has been in so much pain, had shots and now has to wear dreaded cone. read more

Terrible groomer attitudes I brought my dog in this evening for a 5pm Appt for a cut and bath. When I arrived I was told we weren't on the schedule and i would need to reschedule.. I had called earlier today asking if I could come earlier. I was told I'd need to keep my 5pm appt or reschedule. I kept the appt. After going round and round with the girl at the counter she found someone on the 5pm shift to bathe my dog. When I discussed how I'd like him cut, she smirked and said you only asked for a bath. Twilight zone... (can't recall this girls name but a star neck tattoo is the best description I have) I asked for a manager and he kindly addressed the issue and found someone who could shave my dog too. Clarissa was the girl who shaved my dog. She did a great job but had A TERRIBLE attitude since she had to squeeze him into her schedule...I'd say quite bitter. I rarely have my dogs groomed, but I've always used this location and NEVER had an issue. I'm very confident that my scheduled appt was correct. Never will I return to this Petsmart for grooming again. Every girl working tonight has a terrible attitude considering this was a part time shift. If this was too much, not sure how they'll survive a full time job. Each of these girls really need to learn better customer service skills. read more

Amazing dog training!!! I was referred to Diego from a friend who used him to train therapy dogs. My rescue was starting to get aggressive to people, especially men so I needed to nip that in the bud. I almost lost hope until I started working with Diego. My review is solely for the pets hotel, but my little frenchie loves going to the doggie daycamp. The staff is all really nice and very welcoming and accommodating. My only "complaint" would be that when you purchase the daycamp packages, they give you a card but you were supposed to hold onto that day mark off each time you come in. To be honest, I'm just horrible at remembering to bring the card in, which means that each time I forget I have to pay for the day even though I have the package. In the past we have been to doggy day care's that had everything computerized, and it's just much more convenient. But again, the staff is all great and my pup loves going and we have never had an issue! read more

This review is for obedience classes. I signed up my dog for obedience classes. It did not give me a option to pay, just a confirmation. I tried calling the trainer "Diego" multiple times, leaving messages for him to call me so I could ask about the obedience class. I then went into PetSmart to speak to the trainer and he wasn't in. They told me to just come to the class. We arrived at our scheduled class time and our spot had been given away due to lack of payment. The manager said it was in the fine print of the confirmation email. Not sure who I was supposed to make the payment to when no one would call me back and I went in the store even. Pet grooming or pet ruining? I brought my miniature Labradoodle into be groomed today. The groomers name was Cassidy, she is a nice girl, but I'm not sure she's cut-out (no pun intended) for dog grooming? As the saying goes a pictures is worth a 1000 words. Picture 1 is the picture we showed her as to how we wanted our dog cut. Picture 2 is the length she said she would cut him. Picture 4 is what he looked like before we took him in to get his boot camp cut. Picture 3 is ... well I'm not entirely sure but I believe it is our butchered dog. We weren't even sure it was him until he answered to his name. In her defense he had some mats and tangles and she said she would do her best to keep his body longer. However, he had no matting or tangles in his face and barely in his legs! You would think we had brought in an abandoned rescued dog that had overgrown for months! A short cut on a Labradoodle is a teddy bear (face) cut. She even cut his eye lashes, something you don't do on these dogs. The manager Amy said she would refund our money, but that won't save Jax the embarrassment of the other dogs laughing at him at the dog park or as he made the walk of shame as he left the store. All joking aside his hair looks awful and we won't be bringing him back for his next crew cut. read more

Very rude staff. Called at 5:00 to make sure they had guniea pigs available - they did. Walked into the store about 5:40/5:45 and went straight to the guinea pig cage. They were busy at the front so just waited for someone to help and observed the guinea pigs. Finally at 6:00 on the dot someone came over and said they were closing - I replied that we just want to get a guinea pig to which he said "we can't sell live animals after 6pm." I informed him that we had been there for 15 minutes and just need the pet as we already have all of the supplies. He said he'd find out, two minutes later someone else came over and said that sorry but they are closed and couldn't help me. Very upsetting for me and my four year old son who were there to get him a guinea pig. We will go to the Petco up the street from now on for our pet supplies! read more

This review is for the Pet hotel. We boarded our dog for two days. Upon picking her up, she was wet and the "Manager" Cree stated she could not provide our dogs blanket or her toy because they were in the laundry and she did not have the key. She stated she would call me that evening when the items were ready. She never called. I had to call the following morning to inquire about the items, she stated they were ready and that the items were placed in another dogs kennel over the two days. My dog never had her items to help make her visit more comfortable. Cree never apologized. The lack of ownership, accountability and organization has helped us make the decision to never return. The Managers response to our concern was that they had 93 pets and it is difficult to have that many pets. My advice to her was; her overbooking is not our concern and perhaps PetSmart should set boundaries when overbooking animals. I sincerely hope this changes as we do enjoy shopping at PetSmart. read more

I really like this branch of Petsmart. The employees are all friendly and attentive. I have a few things to discuss about this place. My previous dog (I miss her immensely) gave me the reasons to frequent this place for the past what at least 10-15 years. We've used this branch for 2 things. GROOMING & TRAINING & FOOD/TREATS Their grooming center has always done a great dog with my dogs. I've come here for a few things...nail grinding & trimming as well as the wash. My dog(s) have always come back happy with nicely trimmed nails. We always request Cassidy for my dogs grooming. She does a great job. Training is also something I've taken my dog to. I don't really remember the trainer's name but she was pretty helpful with giving tips on how to make my dog listen. I have to say, if you do indeed keep up with the instruction, your dogs will behave well. If you get lazy like me...then no matter what you do your dog will do whatever it wants! The courses are very affordable. The one course I signed up for no one else came to that time, so I had the teacher all to myself which I believe is very useful. (Even if my dog didn't get to socialize with other dogs in the class.) Food/Treats I don't know what else to say...they have a wide assortment of dog foods and treats. I'm from New Jersey and I moved to be closer to my sister and nephews and I brought my 3 year old Yorkie rescue with me. I came specifically to work with DeMario(their old trainer) who helped my sisters dog with his obnoxious and bullish behavior and completely turned him around, now he's the most well behaved boxer I've seen. However I was deeply saddened to hear he had moved on so I decided to give the trainer there a shot but I regretted it instantly as he just isn't DeMario and I questioned a lot of what he was saying. This review is for the hotel. We have boarded here before and never had an issue until just recently. Upon picking up my dog from the hotel I noticed that he had dog Pee all over his face. The minute that they brought my dog out the staff went right back into the back rooms without giving me the opportunity to ask why there was dog Pee all over his face. I am upset as a dog parent but more than anything else this is unacceptable treatment of an animal. We have never had this issue with this location before until now. I would just like to say to the staff who allowed this, this is unacceptable customer service and treatment of an animal. I am appalled. WTF?! I have taken my dog to be groomed on 3 or 4 occasions, the first couple of times were good, the last time was questionable as to the quality of cut. This time however, was a disaster! Somehow after his bath he was placed in a cage where he proceed to "cut a chunk of his pad out"!? Of course they blamed our dog; shockingly little to no accountability. They said he was going "crazy" in his cage" as he "normally" does. However, his report cards that accompany his grooming never mentioned this "crazy" behavior. He certainly will bark if caged at a strange place, but I find it hard to believe our Service Dog, would go crazy. If such is the case how dangerous are the cages where a dog can injure itself. I find the whole story to be questionable. To some it up, bath only and significant injury. Save your dog and go elsewhere! read more

This is a review for dog training classes. I brought my rescue to train with Diego and he was more than willing and patient. Mind you, this isnt a "here's my dog--petsmart trains it" kind of class, rather it's a class to teach you how to interact with your dog. I mean it sounds simple but Diego definetly helped break down my dog's behavior and cues in a way that I could understand and work with her. I'm so glad I picked petsmart. My dog is bonded and trusts me more, definitely important in a dog- human relationship! My dog used to shake and run away when I walked too fast or talked too loud. Now she can finally handle distractions, come when called, she can even tolerate other dogs without too much commotion. Cant wait for next session. Thanks Diego! read more

Been taking my Australian cattle dog, Hemi, here for doggy day camp a couple days a week so he doesn't have to be at home alone for 8 hours everyday. I love the staff. They are all very nice and my dog seems to love going there. The only thing I wish could change is if they had a bigger area for the dogs to run around. ***Grooming Review*** I have a chihuahua mix that sheds like no other so I like to keep his hair short. I used to take him to the petsmart in Tustin and always had good experiences... so I expected the same at this location. I called to make an appointment (haircut/bath) and was happy to hear that they had availability that same day. When I got there, everyone was friendly. We went over his health, discussed what he was getting done, and then signed papers before handing him over. When I picked him up, he smelled great and looked adorable with his petsmart bandana. When we got home, I removed his bandana to take a closer look at his new do. The haircut was not blended very well and uneven in some areas, but he was clean and smelled yummy so I was happy. Later in the day, I noticed him straining his neck to lick his belly area. When I checked to see where he was licking, I saw burns from the clippers around his armpit area, ribs, and stomach. The clippers obviously got too close to his skin, which resulted in multiple razor burns. One burned area... OK... but multiple?! Not good! The next day, I stopped by petsmart to show them pictures of the burns. Management was very apologetic and gave me a full refund without hesitation. They also offered to have the vet take a look at his burns. They made every effort to make it right, which is appreciated. But it does not change the fact that my dog was sent home with multiple burns. I'm hoping this was a one time, accidental occurrence and my furry child just happen to be the unlucky one. But just in case... You may want to think twice before coming to this location for a haircut. read more

This review is for the PetHotel. We left our doggy for 2 nights on 4th of July weekend. She's a year old and this was her first time boarding. Though she was nervous (and so was I) the staff at the PetsHotel was reassuring, friendly, and obviously loved animals. I wasn't worried about how they would treat her at all when we left for the weekend. We called after night 1 to see how she was doing and they told us honestly that she was a little nervous and shy, and she didn't leave her room for the $16 doggy day camp we paid extra for. I thought it was really admirable that they actually told us that, which meant we didn't have to pay for it. They gave her a bowl of lactose free soft serve ice cream and some treats for $2 extra, and they told us she loved that. When we picked her up she was super excited to see us and the staff gave us a "Pawgress Report" that told us whether she ate, was social, went to the bathroom, and how she slept. They also write comments about her stay and added that she was adorable, which was a nice touch. The pawgress report also has some tips for letting your dog adjust to being back home again, which really came in handy in our situation. They charge $31/night, doggy day camp is $16 extra per day (they have separate day camps for big dogs and small dogs and it runs from 9 am - 5 pm), and for an extra fee they'll groom your dog while you're away. You can even bring 2 items from home so your pet will feel more comfortable. I definitely recommend this Pet Hotel and would take her there again in an instant if we needed a doggy sitter. read more

This review is for their pet hotel. We boarded our Greyhound here in August while we were on a trip to Portland. This was our first time leaving her and we were nervous about finding a place we trusted and one that was close to home. We went across the street from Petsmart to Yorba Regional first to check them out and we couldn't leave her there. Her tail was tucked the whole time and we didn't like the feel of the place at all. At Petsmart she seemed very comfortable. We tried them out by leaving her there for 1 night prior to our trip and she did great. Everyone was so nice and made us feel really comfortable about leaving her in their hands. We got her a suite, which had a TV and is a little larger than the other private rooms, for $37 per night. We brought her bed, food, and stuffed toy from home and they followed all of our feeding instructions as directed. They will also give medications if needed, but there is a small extra charge. We informed them that she isn't really socialized yet and that wasn't a problem at all. They made sure she was turned out alone to avoid any potential problems. While we were on our trip, I called daily to check on her and I liked that they immediately knew which dog I was calling about and told me her stats (eating, eliminating, etc.). The only thing I don't like is that they don't take the dogs outside at all. The turnout area is inside only. This is my only complaint. For a short trip though, it's not that big of a deal. In short, I would recommend the pet hotel at Petsmart for affordability, friendly staff, and clean accommodations. I would definitely use them again. read more

I come here for the Dog Daycamp with my little guy, Murray. I was a little skeptical at first coming here since there's no temperament test and it feels somewhat corporate, but my concerns have been assuaged over the past few months taking Murray here. The staff is all very friendly and Murray is always excited to see them. You get a doggie report card at the end, which is a cute touch. It's $20/day or $17 with coupon (you get one for taking a survey which only takes a couple of minutes) which is pretty good for dog daycare, and their hours are 7am-9pm which is really nice! The daycare rooms are very clean and the dogs all seem pretty happy there. The only downsides are 1) you're supposed to make a reservation which can be a pain in the morning when I realized I forgot (I haven't been turned away yet, though) 2) because they have a lot of protocol and forms that have to be filled out for every day about the dog's physical state, dropoff & pickup take longer than our other day cares 3) they'll feed your dog but not if it's raw, so Murray can't eat when he's there 4) whenever you try to make a reservation by phone, they have to ask you if you want all these add ons like treats & ice cream which can be annoying when you just want to make a reservation. These are all pretty minor though, hence my high star rating. read more

Review of the Grooming Department! I originally started going to the Brea store, but after they lost our reservation, I called the Yorba Linda location to see if they had anything available. Unfortunately they didnt have anything for same day, but they did have one for the next day! And on a weekend....Awesome! So happy I was able to get that. When we dropped off our dog, Ysenia was very helpful in asking details about the cut we wanted. Afterwards, she also let us know how well the dog had done considering it was his first real grooming (hes a puppy). She did a great job with the cut as well. I have to give them props for their patience because I dont think I could do it! But Ysenia was very patient and gentle and really took her time and care. I couldnt say that for everyone I saw in there, but the majority did seem to be gentle. I will be taking my dog here for grooming from now on! Way better service than the Brea location! read more

Updating my previous review. We are here at least once/week (if not more) for the doggie daycamp. Our dog loves it! There is nothing better than having complete peace of mind when entrusting our pup with someone. I don't worry about her at all when she's at this petsmart's daycamp. They've proven time and time again how trustworthy they are. The store and daycamp staff are always friendly and greet us warmly. I usually wait a long time before I write a one star review but I've slept on this for several weeks so here is my experience with the grooming folks here at this Petsmart. I made an appointment for a second grooming of our "energetic" poodle mix, Latte. The first grooming was okay and the groomer did an okay partial job considering our dog's "energy". For the second grooming we arrived 15 minutes early and the groomer said hi and told me she was busy she was busy, but I had an appointment so assume that didn't mean much. I'd tried to get our dog in for several weeks but couldn't seem to find a time but was always told "make and appointment", I did. THREE + HOURS later after checking in a several other times I finally find a stressed out groomer and an even more stressed out dog, our pet and friend standing on the table, quivering and shaking with double leads around her neck. You could see panic in the eyes of our pet as she looked tortured, not groomed let alone cared for. The job was even less complete than the first time. Then to add insult to injury I'm told they are charging ME and extra $10, since my dog took more time than allotted. "YOU kept my dog in a wire cage for hours, after her appointment time and then YOU expect her to be calm and compliant." You scold me that it's my fault for the dog not being socialized and I should bring her back and stay in their dog care facility. I met them too and wouldn't want them to care for a pet rock, let alone an animal. Oh and by the way I'd have liked to see the grooming manager stuck in wire kennel for several hours and then be expected to be "calm" It bordered on cruelty, NO it was cruel to pet and pet owner. This store needs to simply stick to retail sales until such time they can get staff that understands and cares for their customers, both human and animal. Recently purchaed a bottom cleaner fish from here. We noticed about 7 dead fish in various tanks, this should have tipped me off. 5 days after purchase the fish died. I take my goldish (Goldie) pretty seriously. So, when I noticed she had a blood spot on her head, I panicked. As I was pretty much crying, my husband took initiative and called Petsmart where they suggested he come in and get some treatment. So, off we went, picture in hand. The fact that they were so serious and responsive about my fish was awesome. The guy (I think he name was Nick) showed us all of the different treatment options and looked up possible causes in a book. Turned out that Goldie had ammonia poisoning because I was such a bad fish mom and didn't change the water frequently enough. I'm happy to report that with daily Melafix drops and frequent water changes, she completely healed within the week and now has a bigger fish tank for her merry fish needs. In all seriousness, Goldie is a feeder fish that my little cousin won at the carnival. So the fact that Petsmart went out of their way to help me was pretty awesome. read more
