Most customers expect tip percentages to be based on the pre-tax cost of the food and drinks. As a result, you end up giving a lot higher tip than you intended to. Because the payment screen does not show an itemized bill, it's very difficult to verify the charges or calculate a custom tip unless you remember the exact prices of everything you ordered. I hate when a restaurant's billing practice isn't transparent to customers.
