You gotta look for this food truck lot or you'll pass it by, but Las Tocallitas is at least dependable about following their "open" hours; it seems the other trucks are always closed, no matter what the hour. I also appreciate that they are open past 3pm even though they open at 7am for breakfast, because for some reason, with my schedule, I'm hungry after 3pm but not ready for a full-blown dinner, either. There's nothing more frustrating than wanting some tacos at 3:30 and every truck is locked down! You know what I mean? So we turned into the food court, even though the "back" of the truck which faces Howard Ln. looks a bit the worse for wear. The other side, however, has the usual wooden picnic tables, but effort has been made to create a shady, protective covering from the scorching Texas sun. We had the tacos al pastor on their homemade tortillas. They didn't serve them wIth pineapple (I'll ask for it next time since they offer pineapple on their Hawaiian Torta, so I know it's a available on the truck). The meat wasn't chewy, but not super-tender, either. Tasty enough to order again, but not crave-able. Same with the barbacoa taco--tasty, yet average. I've seen the pics of others' breakfast tacos and I would definitely go for them...maybe an egg with picadillo, to be different. Overall, love the hours, like the food, love the location. read more

Thank you Yelp for another gem!!! Tucked in a parking lot with a few other food trucks, Las Tocallitas is the first to your right. It has an open seating area, plenty comfortable even if youre with a larger party. We ended up getting breakfast tacos and a couple of meat ones. Sausage and egg - $2 + $.50 for cheese. Delicious! A+ Pastor - $3, I believe - meat a bit dry. I'd give it a C. Barbacoa - $3 - amazingly flavored and slow cooked to perfection! A+ We also got a Watermelon Fresca which was served in a large/wide white cup. Delicious. Overall, this is a 5 start gem and we look forward to another trip mañana! read more

We wanted to give this place a try due to the positive yelp reviews - we love a good taco truck. We ordered 5 tacos - pastor, chorizo y huevos, Barbacoa, carne guisada, and carnitas. The pastor and chorizo y huevos had an oddly fishy or old taste - so odd (because I'm not sure they have fish on their menu) but very distinct flavor. The carne asada and barbacoa were decent. The carnitas was mediocre. Had high expectations but bummed to say I don't think we will be back. read more

Yes. Ordered the sopes with beef fajita meat. Best fajita meet I've had. Tender yet crispy on the outside, great quality flavor. Loved the masa shell and refried beans. Generous meat, lettuce, two square slobs of cheese, and avocado. Her homemade green salsa was great, and the hot sauce was the best hot sauce I've had. I used a lot! I had to come here 2 days in a row after a delicious first visit. They have a very good $2 al pastor taco. The meat is super tender and not overly sweet like some places. The homeade corn tortillas are big and very delicious. The sausage and egg $1.50 taco was much better than expected. I'm a big fan of that taco, it's crazy how something so simple I can whip up at home taste 50x better when they make it. What did they put in the eggs? Or is it a special sausage. I had to ask what the difference between sausage and Mexican sausage. She was kind enough to show me the Mexican sausage which was surprisly cheap terrible hot dogs. I quicky said regular please lol. My tacos came out quick both times and were served super fresh! My 4 year old loved the picadillo in a quesadilla. I did of course have to pick out the peppers, onions, carrots, etc. But I took a bite before taking all the good stuff out and it was just amazing!! This place is amazing! A hidden gem, that never disappoints. If you haven't been here definitely give them a shot. I've tried so many things and so far everything has been fantastic. The green salsa is my choice and it's still spicy, I like spicy, but the red salsa is a little too much for me. I like to add like to my tacos for that extra yumminess! We live right down the street and it's always such a smooth process every time we pick up. We call our order in and I'm about 15 minutes the tacos are done. By now the ladies know our order so we don't even have to tell them who we are or what we ordered. The prices are cheap but everything is homemade, tortillas, salsa and the beans are amazing. If you like salsa with a lot of flavor and just the right about of spice then try the green salsa. It taste soooooo good, if I don't use all of my salsa I will save it for my house and eat it will homemade quesadillas lol. I get the bean, cheese and potato tacos, if you get 3 it's around $5-$7, I always liked egg on my tacos but these guys made me love beans waaaay more. These are very good tacos. Keep in mind they keep it simple. Lots of $2 tacos, but they really only have meat on them and maybe a little cilantro and onion, but don't expect lettuce and tomato and I think you can add cheese for extra $, but they come very plain as ordered, but still quite tasty. The pork was my favorite (Barbacoa, carnitas, etc), very moist. The fajita tacos were spicy! And chicken was really tiny small dice for some reason, I might skip that in the future, but the quesadilla was really good! Kinda expensive at $8, but it was large and cheesy. Breakfast tacos were also good but don't expect fluffy scrambled eggs, they are more like fried or overhard eggs, but they nailed the bacon (crispy!). They also make the usual tortas, tacos, breakfast tacos, gorditas, and other mexican favorites. Seriously, check this place out when craving a burrito or quick mexican grub. And you are one of those people that can't understand how Chipotle became the standard for burritos taste and price.
