Cheesesteak wit onions
Joann V.

3.4 stars I was at the office again and decided to try the philly cheesesteak here. I think it's above average. It is definitely a family business and they seem very sweet. The establishment is definitely no-frills. I ordered the cheesesteak wit onions and American cheese and whiz fries ($7). I don't remember how much the sandwich was, but the total plus tax came out to $25-something. The price point isn't great, but the portions are huge. I think my least favorite item is the whiz fries...it was just too salty for me. Seating is all outdoors. I parked right outside their door and $1 in the meter bought me 40 minutes, which was enough time to order, pay, and eat. It's alright and worth a try.

Hard to find a decent cheesesteak in LA and South Philly Experience provides a solid option. They also had a Strawberry Cream Dr. Pepper, which I hadn't tried before. Definitely a to go spot even though there's seating outside.

I love me some Philly Cheesesteak. This is literally the closest to actual Philly. I hate that it's so far away but when in town, I try to make my way around. Service is great and friendly. Definitely need to sit down and enjoy this as it's a pretty good size.

Onions in the cheesesteak. I requested no onions.

I don't usually write reviews like this but this was really disappointing. I placed my order on Postmates. My Order: - Cheesesteak w/ Sharp Provolone and Hot Cherry Peppers (No Onions) - Whiz Fries The cheesesteak came full of onions which I cannot eat and I think they completely forgot to add salt to the meat because it was completely flavorless and dry. I ended up eating about a 1/4 of the sandwich and had to throw it out. The only positive was that they use good bread for the sandwich. The Whiz Fries were okay. Similar to other whiz fries I've ordered from other places. As someone who orders Philly Cheesesteaks from all around LA, this was disappointing. Hopefully someone at the business will read this and make sure they are more careful with the orders. Maybe without onions and with some salt, this could have been a completely different experience.

So I recently had the south Philly experience. I can't speak too much to the service cause I got a DoorDash but when I got to it was fresh it was on time so that was really great. I want to start with the sweet chili wings because I didn't know what to expect from them, but they are so delicious so saucy so juicy they were tremendous no critiques no notes highly recommend . This is one of the cheesesteaks that I've had in California. You know a lot of places claim they have great cheesesteaks, but let me tell you something about South Philly experience has a pretty good cheesesteak on their hands. Nice juicy steak tender the meat well season and the portions on it are phenomenal . The bread was nice soft chewy like from soaking in the cheesesteak delicious I would 100% order from here again. The honey mustard also surprised me because I'm a big honey mustard guy, and their honey mustard had all the right flavors in there. I couldn't tell you what it was but delicious. Also, their hot sauce is very interesting cause I don't know what it is, but it's very tasty.

Roasted Pork Italian

I first heard of the roast pork italian sandwich on a TV show called "Man vs Food." It's a popular sandwich in Philly, not as famous as the cheese steak sandwich, but according to "Man vs Food" roast pork sandwich is just as good. I was planning to go to Tony Luke's Philly sandwich in Las Vegas because I heard they had the roast pork sandwich. Recently, on instagram, I found out this location had the roast pork sandwich. Eventually, I will go to Tony Luke's in Las Vegas, but today I decided to come here with my brother. We ordered 2 roast pork sandwiches, and one order of fries. We were about to buy 2 orders of fries, but the owner said one order is enough for 2 people. One order of fries is $6, and the owner was right, the amount was more than enough for 2 people. I'd say, it was enough for 3 people, because my brother and I couldn't finish it. As for the sandwiches...The roast pork is either the 2nd best sandwich in Los Angeles or even the best sandwich in Los Angeles. The only sandwich I think maybe better is the Langer's Pastrami. However, the roast pork is cheaper and bigger than Langers. The roast pork is very juicy, not just tender. I'm guessing it's made with soaking marinade, because the bread was slightly wet. The experience left me in awe. Would definitely come back for the cheese steak.

Great place to grab a quick sandwich. I was actually quite surprised at how large the sandwich is. The overall the Philly cheesesteak with cheddar, onions and hot peppers was delicious. The reason why I'm giving four out of five stars is because I think they don't have any hot sauce available like other places I've been. Also, the bread that my sandwich was served on was very cold on the outside, which I thought was very strange. The inside was very hot and the cheese was melting, but the bread was just very cold almost like it might've been frozen before? Service was fine, there is a lot of outdoor seating with umbrellas. No indoor seating.

Cheesesteak with whiz, onions, and banana peppers is elite. I also ordered the Italian hoagie, it was huge! I placed an order online for pick up. Walked in and grabbed my order that was ready and waiting. So good.

Cheesecake with cheese wiz. Great great choice.

Saw the art on the wall and i had to stop. They have Really good helpful service. The cashier was super helpful. I decided to got with a cheesecake with cheese wiz. A great choice the bread was so soft but able to maintain all the cheese and meat. Meat wasnt chewy like this cut of meat can be. This was a great spot and one you need to swing by if your around.

Food: 4.6/5 Service 4.7/5 Value 4.6/5 A truly great experience right on Pico. Both of the ladies working there were extremely nice and very appreciative of our business which felt really nice. They also had great recommendations which turned out to be great. Fried Ravioli - this was the most mediocre thing that we tried. I probably wouldn't get it again but it was still tasty. I think the main issue I had with it was that there wasn't enough cheese in the ravioli so it was quite flat. The spicy vodka sauce was great but that was the only part I would recommend. Cheesesteak - a great take on the classic. The meat was plentiful, the cheese was cheesy, and the peppers completed everything you would want in a cheesesteak. Meat Lover - A great alternate on a cheesesteak but is extremely heavy. This aligned well with everything I would want in a sandwich but I can understand if it's not for everyone. Very meaty, very dense, extremely flavorful. Strongly recommend if that's your vibe. Orange Cream Sickle- quite sweet so not for everyone but tastes perfectly like orange cream sickle ice cream from back in the day. It is a great counter balance to the sandwiches but again, very sweet so if you're sensitive to that, be wary!

Fries with cheese wiz and marinara sauce

My boy wanted a Philly cheese steak so we came here because the reviews led us here. The lady helped us order our delicious lunch and looked after us. My boy even asked if he could cook in the kitchen. We were recommended the classic Philly cheese steak with provolone cheese and a marinara meatball sub. The fries come with many topping choices, but we got cheese wiz and got a little serving of marinara sauce too. All good. My boy liked the meatball sub a lot. It was nice weather so we say outside on the tables and watched Pico Blvd passby. Lots of delivery drivers too as this place is popular.

The Cheesesteak wit whiz (white American). This was good and probably the best I'll get in LA
Jenn W.

They say you can't get a good philly cheesesteak in LA. I disagree because this place is probably the closest you'll get to a real one without having to hop a plane back east... Location: Right next to an auto collision shop and a clothing store. Parking is all street so pay attention the signs for street sweeping because they will tow your car. Food: I got the Cheesesteak wit whiz (American white). Soft, bread crusty bread with a melt in your mouth steak and melty cheese. NOT a small sandwich either so if you get the shoestring fries ( and they are generous with a small order) bring an appetite with you. I've never been to Philly, but if this is an accurate representation, I'd get one weekly. Summary: Definitely pay attention to the signage on how to order and if you mess up, don't worry. The staff there can help you out especially if you're a rookie. They also got hoagies and serve breakfast too. Drinks are all bottled and cash and debit/credit are accepted. Seating is outside on a patio or your car. Service was good, but just know what you want when you get to the counter. Ambiance is mostly to-go and the typical South Philly know what you want feel. You can also call ahead or do Doordash too. Wouldd I come back? If I'm in the area and in the mood for a beef sandwich. Happy eating!!

Finally got a real South Philly experience and it did not disappoint. The bread was on point, and honestly I should've ordered extra cheese because that bite-pull combo was almost perfect. The fries kinda overwhelmed me, but nothing too crazy. Definitely going back to try something else on the menu. And yes... I'd recommend this spot over Boo's.

When I went to order at the counter, the staff said we could sit and they were serve us, which I wasn't expecting at all! I really appreciate they that have both the fast-casual order style and the sit down and enjoy style duality to this restaurant. I got the chai latte and a hummus bowl with falafel (though as I write this I can't remember if that was the actual menu name of the dish). It was delicious--the falafel was one of the best I've ever had taste wise, and a bit on the airy side instead of being super dense, which I appreciated. Sometimes falafel is too dang dry, and they really got it right. The hummus was phenomenal. I'm really such a sucker for a good, quality hummus and it was so creamy and the oil they topped it with was wonderful too. The veggies were fresh and the pita was such a star: it was thick and chewy and clearly freshly made. Immediate 5 star for the food. So glad I stopped by here and will definitely be back!

I had a glass of the Marcio Lopes - Laranja and a glass of the Mammoth Pilsner. Our server, George, was fantastic and he ensured that our glasses were full and explained the preparation of every item. Plus he grabbed a snap of us prior to the meal. Thanks George! Came…read morehere with one of my dearest friend who came down from NorCal to visit during one of the most challenging times of my life. The combination of friendship and delicious dishes delivered by Almost famous was soul-warming. Metered street parking only unfortunately, but service at the restaurant was excellent. Staff were friendly, courteous, patient, and were happy to go through the menu and make recommendations. You can tell they take pride in their dishes offered. They will check-in enough to ensure everything with the dining experience is going well, but not too frequently to impede on privacy. They have a breakfast/lunch (brunch) menu that they serve from 8am up until 2pm and a dinner menu that is available from 11am to 2pm & 5pm to 9:30pm. 1. Ginger & Cardamom Chai Latte (5/5) House-made chai with ginger and cardamom. If you like herbal spices, this drink was comforting and warming. It's not sweet, which I like and it paired well with the food dishes. 2. Crab Bhuna (4.75/5) Crab meat simmered in fragrant spices then topped with ginger, fennel seed, and curry leaves. It is served with soft, subtly sweet banana buns The crab meat was fresh and honestly, you couldn't even tell it's crab. It's seasoned perfectly with the aromatic Indian spices. The banana buns were interesting ... it was a bit on the dry side, but if you stuffed the airy pockets of the bun with the crab meat, it's not too bad. The banana bun had an interesting flavor profile; a mix of sweet-bitterness to it. 3. Sweet Potato Chaat (5/5) One of my favorite dishes here. It is sweet potato chunks mixed with a sauce blend of sweet corn, yogurt, tamarind, mint chutney and pomegranate. The sauce was light, refreshing, and tangy, balancing the natural sweetness of the sweet potato perfectly. 4. Brunch Dosa Rice & Lentil Crepe (4.75/5) Basically think of a crepe, but a super large size one. I just love their crepe - it was crispy yet doughy with a cheesy flavor. The crepe was stuffed with turmeric mashed potatoes. I typically do not like mash potatoes, but when it's served this way, I approve. The dish comes with a side of 3 sauces - sambar (lentil-based vegetable curry that's often seasoned with coriander seeds, cumin, fenugreek, dry red chilies), curry, coconut and tomato chutney. A perfect dish for sharing and for trying out the various flavors of Indian cuisine. 5. Wagyu Beef Keema Kulcha (4.5/5) Minced Wagyu beef that's seasoned well with aromatic spices and onion inside an Indian leavened flat bread. Highly recommend and will be back to try out other dishes!

During a…read morelazy afternoon after visiting the Pantheon in Rome, we had our first experience with All'Antico after taking a 5 minute walk down the road. They actually had 2 separate locations flanking the pedestrian road, so there were two long lines snaking out in opposite directions. While we were waiting in line, we bumped into a couple from Spain who were also visiting. They gave my wife some personal recommendations, advising we get the blood orange soda with our sandwiches. After getting said sandwiches (the La Paradiso), we nibbled on them while walking to Sant'Ignazio of Loyola Church, which is that cathedral where there's a mirror directed up towards the murals on the ceiling and a huge selfie line. Hot damn were those sandwiches good. The thinly sliced mortadella paired perfectly with that buttery, green pistachio spread. The only challenge for my taste buds was the mild oral trauma I sustained from punching through the crispy bread; your gums started to feel it by the time you devoured your sandwich. But we liked it so much that when we later took the train to Florence, we sought All'Antico again at their original location. I thought that would be my last experience with All'Antico (unless, of course, I came back to Italy). So imagine my surprise when later that year I heard All'Antico had coincidentally opened a branch in Los Angeles, although rather awkwardly situated in Koreantown. Even though we live 30 minutes away, we made the drive immediately. There was no way this remote All'Antico location, thousands of miles from Italy, would live up to the experience I had in Rome earlier that year. But I was mistaken. Not only is the taste spot on, but the bread they serve is actually chewier and removed the gum calisthenics I suffered in Italy. And yes, they also have the blood orange soda as well. It's a little weird their location is in Koreatown, but not a big deal; we'll usually do a bingsu run afterward. Just like their locations in Italy, All'Antico is small but they do have a small collection of bar seats, some of which overlook the staff as they're making your sandwich. Be mentally prepared though to take it to go depending on how busy it is. Parking sucks too; there's street parking only, but if you come on Sunday you don't have to pay. Every so often now, we'll make the 30 minute drive just to relive that slice of Italy we experienced nearly 2 years ago. Thankfully, not a lot of people recognize how good this place is yet, as the lines aren't crazy long like they are in Italy. For all the other Yelpers in on it too, let's keep it our little secret for now.
