I love a good cheese steak, so when I heard about this place I was excited. It is a small, casual, order at the counter place. The girl that took our order was friendly and helpful. After my friend and I both ordered half sandwiches, she recommended we order a whole and split it because it would be cheaper. It worked great since they cut the sandwiches in half anyway. The sandwich was great. The taste was on point. It was juicy through out. We also split a medium order of cheese fries. It was plenty of food. They put plenty of cheese on them. They are plenty generous w/the cheese and meat and whatever other options you may request. If you're really bold--and hungry---and crazy-- order their "loaded" version, power even half of one of those down, then see if you can waddle out the door on your own volition. Philly Bilmo is tucked away in an enormous, otherwise non-descript strip mall in the seemingly never-ending series of strip malls adorning East Vancouver. You pay through the nose for their wares (large subs average in the $16 range). Bilmo also does not deliver (advantage: Jimmy John's), but these are the only counts I can think of that keep them from absolute perfection. They could also stay open much later, but I realize that isn't always a feasible business practice, to cater to such a small but vocal minority of ones repeat customers. Another word about the aforementioned premium prices this is one time you get what you pay for, and then some, and most people, I presume, would be hard pressed to find much fault here. Most people, afterall, would have a substantial amount of fabulous left-overs to look forward to, in days and weeks subsequent to their mystical sojourn to SE 164th. Unlike JJ's or Subways or Quiznos or newcomers to the NW Jersey Mike's, or pretty near any other sandwich chain I can reckon, at Philly Bilmos you can have a seat and tip back some cold ones. Hot philly cheesesteak (loaded) and cold beers make a mighty fine way to kick back and watch a ball game. Or order some to go and bring 'em by your place of employ. You'll be the most popular person in the office (at least for the day), and you'll have people bugging you for weeks afterward, "Say, where DID you get them sandwiches, they were AWESOME!" Go ahead, Pop a top and grab some Bilmos, there'll be a little more room at the bar in just a minute here, as soon as I can gather the compunction to clear the scene. I've had the Italian sub and the traditional cheese steak from Philly Bilmos. Both were good. I am in no way an expert on the philly style cheese steak so I can't make any comparisons, but I can say this seems like a quality place to get a sandwich. The staff was friendly and there were already 5 or 6 guys waiting for their cheese steak when I got there at 11:20. That has to be a good sign. Also, they serve Boars Head so I'm a happy girl. As a side note, I was a little worried about getting a cheese steak at first because I worried the onions would be too much. I have to say that I barely even noticed them. I typically only come here every few months for a really good Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. But every time I have one, I swear it just gets better and better. The servings are a little large, even a half sandwich could fill you for the rest of the day. The venue isn't great, but it's not bland. Alas I come here for the sandwich and I could car less about decor. Everything is well prepared and carefully cooked, everyone I have referred here has been impressed. Up until I found this location I have been disappointed in any cheesesteak sandwich I've had. Either they are to dry, meat is dry, bland or over loaded with grease. Had two sandwiches to go. I believe they work with Doordash and Grubhub if I'm not mistaken. My fiance and I got two of the cheesesteak sandwiches; the loaded and the bilmos. Both sandwiches we ate in the car. We walked in and made an order and it took 10 to 15 minutes to be ready. We got their habanero honey sauce to drizzle onto our bites. I wish they used two wrappers only because it was difficult to eat it in the car in fear of making a mess. Now, this isn't how they intend for the sandwiches to be eaten in a car, I wish the marinated (?) red peppers had a stronger flavor. It was a delicious sandwich and my fiance and I didn't waste a single bite, usually we throw a few bites of food left but not in this case. Wouldn't mind trying their parmesan sandwiches; chicken or eggplant. And cheesesteaks you have a choice between sliced steak or chicken. And I loved their selection of cheese for their sandwiches. We go to Philly Bilmo's on occasion. It is a small little restaurant nestled in a strip mall along with Big Lots! and New Seasons. The interior is acceptably clean but not much to look at. The dining area has a bit of an odd layout, but it is after all, in a strip mall. You can see the kitchen right there behind the counter where you order. We have had various Cheese steaks, and they are all delicious. Their rolls are imported from Philadelphia, so they claim and are quit spectacular. We have also sampled their fries and cheese fries, they are quite generous with their servings of fries. One order feeds both my wife and I. I'm not having a good week so this is probably not going to be the best of my reviews but here we go. My wife and I were standing outside the door at 11am when they opened, we were the first ones there. Clean good sized eating area. Beautiful young lady greeted us with a huge smile and hellos. Very knowledgeable and explained to us Newbies what each sandwich was and it's argument to be the best in the line up. Over 10 sandwiches to choose from, hot or cold. Sodas and beers with your lunch? Why yes I will have a Shadow Ninja with the LOADED BILMO COMBO, please. We sat down and with in 5 minutes, my fries were in front of my face. I was a bit caught off guard but I was instantly loving the quick bite and dug right in. I was about half way into my Fantastic fries, when BAM My sandwich landed with a thud on the table in front of me. My mouth is drooling a bit now just thinking of it.....the meat was TASTY! Best in the NW! Sauces and dressings made from scratch. Boar's head brand meats. Delicious bread. Just can't be beat. I have never found a better cheesesteak. Highlights: I got the loaded 'Philly' and the hot dog. The Philly is pretty killer. Beefy, juicy, nice flavor. Honestly, I almost wanted more mushrooms, cheese - less beef. It was pretty rockin' though. I think they definitely have everyone in the 'Couv covered on this one. Lowlights: Hot dog? Seemed like a throw in. They have these killer rolls for the Phillys, then the cheap teeny Franz buns on the dog. What gives? Decor: really not that inviting. It's all a deep blue everywhere. Yes! Finally! There is a great cheesesteak in the Greater Portland Metro Area. I've been milling around sampling Cheesesteaks in this area for the past few years. I have had several good sandwiches but nothing close to the borderline perfect example here. Sure it's a drive for me, and anyone from Portland "Proper", but I had this excited feeling i the pit of my stomach the whole ride there. You know that feeling.... Like a kid knowing that they were on the way to the Amusement park. Yep... that one. It figures its at a place that serves Boars Head Products. I had just a regular Cheesesteak. The cheese and grease took on the form of a delicious gravy like consistency. It was fantastic. Tender steak, amoroso rolls, onions were cooked down perfectly. A solid, well executed cheesesteak, which is hard to find around this region. Also sampled the Hot Pastrami which was exceptional but just slightly on the salty side. Even for a Pastrami Sandwich, I make the same one at home with Boars Head Meats. Friendly and prompt service!! Came here for lunch before the mad, mad, rush. The woman at the register was very friendly and bubbly. I tend to ask the most lame, annoying questions in my goal of not eating anything I don't like...such as, "Are there mushrooms on that?" Most people get annoyed by this because they assume you should just be looking at the menu. However, the gal was happy to help me. As far as the sandwich, it was great! I got a regular size loaded cheese steak and it was pretty damn flavorful. I like to think I'd come here more often if I didn't think it would give me a heart attack after a few times.
