My husband were staying in San Diego and drove over to La Jolla so I could get some Philz Coffee. This was the closest one to our hotel and was only about 8-9 mins from where we were staying. We stopped at this same location last time we were in town which was back in 2021. The coffee shop was super busy when we arrived with tons of coffee on the table with names on each one, which I assume were all mobile orders. Place seemed clean for how busy it was. My husband ordered glazed monkey bread but the one he received was not glazed and he told the cashier and the cashier was so nice and gave us the correct one at no charge. We went outside to sit and enjoy our coffee because it was very loud and a little too dimly lit inside. Will come back again next time we're in town. Love their iced tesora coffee! read more

This branch has a really delicious mocha made with powdered chocolate. Service is great and the location is close to many shopping stores. The staff working here are also very kind and pleasant. This location has plenty of students studying and doing work so it's a good location if you were looking for doing work on a computer or catching up with friends. read more

Philz has my favorite coffee drink. The Mint Mojito rich and creamy is so delicious! However, if you are like my fiance who just wants a plain cup of coffee, I would not recommend this place. A plain drip dark coffee costs the same as my specialty mint mojito, so its not worth the money in that sense. Also note, if you are trying to do work at a coffee shop this one always seems busy and its hard to get a table. There isn't much table space/seating, wouldn't recommend it. read more

I like Philz strictly for their mint mojito. I always go to the one in Huntington Beach (where I live) and it's perfect every time. I was visiting and I saw there was one here so I stopped by. I decided to splurge on the large for once, and it was a mistake. There was no mint leaf in my cup so it was just a large coffee :( It was really bad and I would not come here again. I always have a pleasant experience at this Philz despite it being busy at all hours of the day (it's delicious and popular for a reason). The baristas are quick and always willing to make customizations if need be. My favorites are the Philz Iced Tea, Mint Mojito, and the Philtered Soul. If you like sweet coffees/teas, I would start with Medium Sweetness and work your way up if need be. Sometimes my sweet drinks are too sweet. My one request is bringing back the Avo Toast, the Lebneh toast, and the Matcha! read more

I'm a huge creature of habit, so branching out of my "norm" is hard to do. Philz is close to my house, so I thought I'd give it a shot for a Sunday night caffeine run. The barista was super helpful and helped me go through their menu, even offered multiple options, according to what I was telling her were my preferences. Ultimately, I went with a medium iced Tesora with creamy oat milk. I love the fact that their oat milk is gluten free. The sugar wasn't enough at first but they melted some more for me (twice) on the spot until we found the sweet spot. Pun intended. Brown sugar too, which I love. Good coffee, great service. A friend recommended Philz Coffee and I'm so glad I listened! They have seasonal drinks and also ways to customize each option- I got the Winter Bliss and chose the "medium" amount of both sweetness and creaminess which was perfect for me. The line was pretty long but they made it through pretty quickly. If you like mint, then you should come here. I've ordered quite a few items off the menu and I like that in some of my orders, they put fresh mint leaves in my cup. With that said, my favorites are the Mint Mojito, a chocolaty minty coffee that is served hot or cold. I also like Jacob's Wonderbar and the Tesoro. I think it's great that they don't use plastic cups. I'm not sure if you can bring your own cup again for the price of a small coffee post-covid, but I will update on my next visit. Food is ok if you didn't eat or forgot to bring anything for breakfast or lunch. Portions are small for what you pay, but again, it will do in a pinch. Lines at this location can be ridiculous, but if you order ahead, you can stroll right up to the counter and your stuff will be waiting for you, instead of the other way around. read more

Someone really wanted to get some Philz coffee just for old times sake. We came out here, hoping to post up and do some work, but the tables were all taken by ucsd students. Thankfully, there are tables right outside that's shared by the other businesses so we decided to settle out there. He got us some drinks - he went for his favorite, the iced gingersnap drink and I tried their iced mocha Tesora which was a little too sweet, and is essentially just chocolate milk. I love Philz in general, though it's more of a ~fun drink~ place than a coffee black place (which didn't stop my boyfriend from getting a cold brew, which honestly was still quite good). This location was poppin' on a Saturday around noonish, and it was a little bit chaotic inside without clear direction of where the line started. Came here on a spur for a last minute Thursday night work session. I've actually been here quite a few times and knew it wouldn't disappoint. I got my usual iced Philharmonic with oat milk and stevia, which I thought was amazing. The mint leaves were a phenomenal touch and the iced drink was a overall great complement to a warm evening. The service was great as usual and the mobile ordering system works so well. The drink was ready when I was. I think Philz is a great study and work spot. There's quite a few seats with outlets. As of the past 4-5 times coming to this location, the drinks have been no other way to describe it but trash. I hate to say it, no other way to say it. Very good -- not perfect but very good. I always get a hot mocha tesora with oat milk and an extra shot of chocolate. Good, but would like better with espresso (yes, I know Philz doesn't do espresso -- just sayin'). However, LOVE the vegan breakfast sandwich. I could eat one of those every morning, but sadly it works out to just one every Saturday or Sunday morning. Unless they're sold out and I have to cry instead. The online ordering system could use a little work. Maybe half the time the pickup time stated on the app is correct. And maybe half the time it's not -- sometimes a tiny bit late, and sometimes a big bit late, like 10 or 15 minutes. We always ask for oat milk in our drinks (we don't do dairy) and one time I caught the barista using cow milk in my wife's drink, which is a BIG no-no for us. I stopped in for coffee with a friend. Philz provided a quiet space, that was clean with open space. Service was fast, and they provided adequate customer service for sure. They have an interesting menu with a lot of Philz specific creations. I ordered a mocha, and it was good but it was very sweet and had settled at the bottom. One of my fav coffee shops! This location in particular is busy due to it being in the vicinity of UCSD. I like how spacious it was compared to other Philz's I've been to. I came here around noon on a Sunday and it was packed. However, they have a very efficient system and we were out of there in less than 10 minutes. The coffee is usually great no complaints but today I ordered a mint mojito and it was SO watery. On top of that the customer service could not be worst. I ordered a mobile order and went up to check if it was ready and was approached with instant rudeness from the baristas working. They should really reconsider how they treat people. I asked a simple question kindly and they answered very rudely, like I was in the wrong for just asking it it was ready..
