    iced coffee rose

The Iced Coffee Rose & Mint Mojito will always have my heart. They are both so sweet and creamy, and you know I will only drink coffee that is sweet and creamy :) I like the rose a little bit more, but it's nice to switch it up once in a while. I wish they had more tables/a bigger area because I would love to study here, but there's always no open tables when I come :/

Love, love, love a Philz coffee. Their drinks are delicious; we tried a special tiramisu beverage I believe and our usual go-to is their mint coffee. Line can get decently long at this location & the parking lot is a nightmare so plan accordingly.

Revisited recently. Register is located at the far back. Almost every table was taken by people with laptops. Huge parking lot but most spaces taken. Better to park near Nordstrom rack. Pick a specialty drink or a type of roast, size, sweetness and milk preference. Very customizable. Tried: Tiramisu $6.80 - also too sweet even though we ordered it medium sweetness. Flavor was okay. s'mores $5.95 - this was horribly sweet. I asked for it medium sweet and it tasted like it was extra extra extra sweet. I even added a double shot espresso at home to it and it was still too sweet. I will just stick to their regular coffee instead of specialty if I come back.

Philz is my fav coffee shop in the Bay Area, so happy that they also have a location here in SD. My undefeated go to drink has always been the mint mojito, but their new(ish) tiramisu latte is a close 2nd! Service is always superb!

I knew I had a long drive on the way back to LA, so I decided to come here. My friends love Philz Coffee but I'm not a regular, especially with coffee, but I do love chocolate!!! My order was their popular Iced Mocha Tesora (Tesora blend + cocoa). It tasted perfect to me and got me awake within 15 minutes. I thought this spot was really nice when I walked in!!! There was plenty of seats (most taken by people studying or hanging out) but there's a large bench to sit at while waiting for orders. Bathrooms in the back also have a small bench where you can sit infront of. The parking lot is pretty full with lots of businesses in the area, but you can't beat free parking. Lots of patio seating too in the plaza area with a door to the back.

I did a mobile order on my way to work, and it was ready before the estimated time! The employees were welcoming and offered to make any adjustments if I needed (: I am SO HAPPY the tiramisu is staying for a lil while longer - one of the best seasonal drinks I've tried! I find it quite sweet so I would do minimal sweetness since they had the tiramisu syrup and sugar. Definitely coming back!

Service is great WiFi available Bathroom present Ordered a new drink called Pistachio spice. I got it ice. I don't think I would order it again. I do however love the iced ginger snap here! I should've went with what I'm familiar with. I am a fan of pistachio so I was intrigued and convinced to buy it when it said new!

Philz coffee!!! One thing I really miss no longer living in California is Philz Coffee. To me, all Philz Coffee is 5 stars! People are friendly, the vibes are good, and their mojito coffee and rose coffee- especially when you order them creamy. I wish I could drink them every day

Stopped by Philz Coffee this morning to do some reading and studying, before my dr appointment, and it reminded me why I've always loved this place. I remember when this location first opened and how pumped I was about it. I don't live in the area anymore, so it's a bit of a bummer that it's so far from me now especially since this was one of the first Philz locations to open in San Diego. I really wish they had one down south. Anytime I'm up north though, I make it a point to stop by. The customer service is always top-tier and the baristas genuinely know their coffee. Today I kept it simple with an all-black light roast (even though the Mint Mojito is usually my go-to), and it was perfect. The vibe here is great too clean, calm, and welcoming for getting work done. I especially love the aesthetic, with local La Jolla artwork painted on the walls by local artists. Such a cool touch. Service is consistently solid, coffee is always on point, and it's a place I'll keep coming back to whenever I'm in the area. Highly recommend if you're looking for good coffee and a chill spot to read or study

Stopped by this location on a rainy Thursday afternoon and got their Mocha Tesora. Was only planning to drink half but it was so good that I ended up drinking the whole thing! The right blend of sweetness and coffee. It was pretty packed, which makes sense being close to campus but I was able to find a seat eventually after getting my coffee. The comfort was a bit lacking as I wasn't able to get a proper table, so that's something you want to consider if you want to study/WFH here. Otherwise, a good spot for coffee.

    Marlene G.

I love this Philz location! As always, their drinks are super flavorful. I love the variety of coffee types they have to offer, and their seasonal drinks are always a hit. Right now, they have a spiced vanilla and banana cold brew for the fall. Service is generally speedy too, except when the line gets long:) It's also a great spot to study, as there are plenty of tables. The decorations on the walls are also super cute!

Coffee Lids Suck!! Cheap plastic lids that do not stop coffee from spilling around the "sealed" lip. Service was great, coffee tasted like coffee, plenty of seating. A little loud and little messy. Parking lot is always busy and hectic.

My first visit to a Philz Coffee. Love that the coffee beans here have sweet notes so you don't need to add syrup (which they don't have syrups here, only notes and sugar). They don't do lattes but they have their own specialty drinks Lots of seating here. Service is very friendly and upbeat! I would come back! Thanks for explaining how to Philz to me with such patience and up eat energy at the same time! I see they're offer breakfast and pastries too, maybe I'll try them next time!

Do they have a secure internet connection with a WiFi password?? I can't work from Starbucks because their network is not secured with a pw. It's a VPN issue with my work laptop.

First, while we were waiting for our table, we were told that the coffee near the check-in area was complimentary while we waited. When we were seated, we brought our coffee cups with us, only to find out later that we had been charged $5 each for our coffees. We didn't say anything, but it definitely didn't leave the best taste in our mouths. So double check your bill if you pick up a free coffee while waiting for your table. One of my favorite meals here is the risotto Benedict. It was still good, but unfortunately, it didn't taste quite as good as it normally does. After we left, my stomach was very upset, and I ended up having to make an emergency stop at the La Jolla Shores bathrooms before heading home. Our waiter was also a little slow. It took quite a while for our water to give us water after a long walk on the beach and then our bill took forever as well. On top of that, the waiter commented "Impressive" because I had finished my entire plate. I had been fasting for 24 hours, but regardless, I don't think commenting on how much a customer eats is really appropriate. It was just a little strange. Anyway, just a heads-up. I'm sure I'll come back, and hopefully everything will be back to normal and great as usual!

First visit, craving an omelette after most breakfast places had closed, found Nature Forward on…read moreYelp and decided to give it a try. Reviews here assert they have been open for a while, banner out front said "grand opening" so I'm unsure if there was a management/ownership change or that has been up for a while. Place was incredibly clean and staff were very friendly, I would definitely come back again. Some observations and constructive feedback: the menu (both physical on table and QR code for digital) has a lot of ambiguity that staff couldn't easily answer. For instance: "daily mimosa specials" (you had me at mimosa) but I asked my waitress who asked someone else what kind of mimosas (a lot of back-and-forth to see if we had regular OJ for that). I can't tell you how much I paid but it was delicious. I asked what fruit came in the "fruit bowl", the answer I got was helpful (banana, blueberry, strawberry, there was surprise melon) but here on yelp it claims to be a parfait, after I ordered the waitress told me it had yogurt and granola (sure why not), what arrived was fruit with granola on top (I would have skipped the granola). A fruit cup or a side of fruit would be a welcome addition to whatever is supposed to be in that, but it was tasty and I ate it. The grilled banana bread (sigh): something I've baked a million times and enjoy many different ways, had a lot of streusel mixed-in and on top - it was good but the streusel diminished it, too much of of a good think maybe. The honey butter on side was a little thick to spread but good, the strawberry jam was great but never something I'd spread on banana bread. I would have put it on my sourdough toast that came with the omelette, but that came without the toast. Let's discuss the omelette which tasted great, back to my menu confusion, it says "BYO omelette with 3 fillings" and lists no fillings, so I had to ask, and was told "just about anything you could imagine". A list would have been helpful. I went with cheedar, bacon, and peppers - my go-to is a greek (spinach, tomato, feta) I don't know if they had spinach or tomato but no feta so I didn't ask. The omelette comes with potatoes or slaw, I didn't want potatoes so I chose slaw, after ordering they were out of that so I chose spring mix, then was told that was not an option. A side of fruit (for less than the $12 I think I paid for that) would have hit the spot but I told them I had already ordered plenty and the omelette was fine solo, expecting it to come with the sourdough toast. Again: the food and service were good, I will definitely be back, but I think the menu could be clearer or the kitchen could either limit people's choices (eg we have these 4 kinds of omelets) or post ingredients/options on the wall (chalkboard like the one out front?) if they change frequently.

We came here only because of the reviews, which in hindsight, I should have read more carefully. The front has a large Grand Opening sign, which I thought was odd with all the reviews. We were seated inside which was surprisingly hotter than outside. She said she would be back with water. The water took 10 mins, and when she dropped it we asked if we could order with her. She said, "Sure, I'll be right back" before disappearing for another 10 minutes. I had planned to order the chicken & waffles that were on the website, but the menu when we arrived was completely different. Since I don't eat eggs, I went with a side of potatoes, the sourdough bread plate with strawberry jam and bacon. My girl got a breakfast burrito no meat. 30 minutes later, they brought out my bacon and then 5 minutes after her burrito with my potatoes. No biggie, the waitress realized the misunderstanding and asked if I wanted my side of potatoes and I am so glad I said no just based on time. We both agreed those were the saddest potatoes we have ever had, just oily, stale, and unseasoned. Then she took a bite of the burrito; the tortilla was undercooked, and there was tons of bacon. Next, my "sourdough" was delivered, which was just two pieces of white bread. My girl laughed and said, "You are paying $12 for bread." We asked for the bill because we were late for volunteering, and it wasn't edible. The server could tell we were frustrated, and I explained I ordered sourdough and the burrito was supposed to be no bacon. The waitress repeated that's what she put in the computer and we could talk to the owner who was also the chef's wife. The lady comes out, I explain the situation, she looks at the menu, and it's clear she doesn't know what sourdough is and English is not her first language. It then becomes clear that they don't know what's listed on the menu. The most shocking was that she then took the fork and began picking the burrito to find the bacon, like we were not being honest. They took both items off the bill. We still paid for the coffee, bacon, and the bread that was on the menu for $12 only rang up as $5, and the jam was "on the house" since apparently it's extra. I have never spent +$20 and still been hungry like that; what a disappointment. Our water was never refilled. The entire hour we were at the restaurant, despite me asking multiple times. Do yourself a favor and don't go.

Ambience 9/10 Lunar New Year Croissant Described as a croissant filled with sesame and almond paste, this is a good but not great croissant. It has the layers, it has the chew, but it's no better than a croissant you would get at a number of other bakeries in the area. But those other bakeries are charging $4-7 instead of $10! The almond and sesame flavors were both very subtle and make me believe there is just a very minimal amount used in the recipe. Would not recommend even as a chewy over crispy croissant guy. 5/10 Creme brûlée latte Pretty much what I wanted without description. Creamy, noticeable but not overpowering vanilla flavor, and a lovely burnt topping for bitter balance. The coffee still comes through meaning this is a well crafted latte, not a dessert. This one actually comes at a pretty decent price too. 8/10 Yuzu & lime tart Their take on meringue pie is composed of a graham crust, yuzu mousse, and a meringue topper with a circle of lemon curd gel. To my taste, there is too much sweet on this plate, needing some balance of tart. But the textures of each component were on point: fluffy meringue, thick lemon gel, dense crust, and substantial yet airy mousse. Torching the meringue at home added a bitter element which I think made the sweetness more palatable. Would have liked the citrus to be more present. 5/10. All in all I would choose other sweets shops at most shopping centers than return here but for drinks this is a pretty good option.
