Love this location! I live near by so I walk here sometimes. It's located along the busy strip on lake in a cute little outdoor patio enclosed by a couple businesses. There is free wifi and plenty of outdoor seating. A great place to get some work done and not miss out on some fantastic weather! The coffee is great. Never have any complaints. My favorite coffee chain. Unfortunately, I don't have a Philz close to me and I have to make a 30-minute trek to the nearest location, which is this one. It's definitely worth it in my opinion, though. I always get the iced rosé latte, which is just amazing. It absolutely nails the rose flavor and it's not too overwhelming or too subtle with it. It's perfect! Great coffee, and it's not ridiculously expensive either. The prices aren't too different from Starbucks and the quality far surpasses it. TL;DR Boiling hot and burnt tasting coffee and slow service in a weird setting The quality of Philz coffee is pretty poor, on par with a Starbucks or a Peet's drip coffee. I think this is due in large part to their staffing choices. It seems like teenagers run the place, and the atmosphere feels as if you walked into an angsty 16 year olds bedroom. The kids behind the counter seem preoccupied with talking to each other while they make your coffee, so service is slow. The coffee, when you get it, is boiling hot. You should not serve any coffee that is so hot that it burns your tongue when you take your first sip. The light roast I ordered had none of the fruity flavors I'd expected, just a burnt toast flavor. I remember visiting Philz many years ago in San Francisco and being impressed with the quality of their beans and their coffee. It's sad to see a brand like this in decline, grasping to a "counter culture vibe", while selling out for a quick buck. read more

No other coffee shop can match the flavor of their mint coffee. With the pandemic they have safety measures in place. Download the app and place your order. When you arrive they have your order placed in an organized fashion for pickup. They changed their process. They used to ask for your name and the drinks were behind the counter but they have since changed their setup. When I think of Philz Coffee, I think of a consistently satisfy cup of Iced Mint Mojito coffee no matter which location I visit. This location of Philz Coffee was no different. Tucked away in the cute "Commons" area off Lake Ave in Pasadena, there is a comfy intellectual vibe inside the coffee shop as well as outdoor seating in the Commons courtyard area, depending on what you prefer. I opted to get my drink to go. Just like all the Philz locations, you order at the counter area with your barista. I love their Iced Mint Mojito coffee, sweet and creamy. You order here first and then go to the cashier to pay while the barista makes your drink. There is a nice long bench you can sit down at while you wait. My friendly barista was quick so I did not have to wait too long. She was super friendly and informed me that she can change it if I needed adjustments. Fortunately it was already perfect. I love that cup of sweet and creamy Iced Mint Mojito and I can drink this at any time of the day. It was exactly what I needed to get through the night. I took my coffee with me on my stroll up and down Lake Ave and it was the perfect redemption cup of latte I needed, since I had a subpar cup of coffee moments earlier and I just needed a REAL cup of coffee to make up for it. read more

Philz Coffee is located in "The Commons" on Lake Avenue in Pasadena behind Lemonade/Drybar, and right next to SUGARFISH. COVID-19 Safety Procedures: Staffers wore face masks, hand sanitizers are available and social distancing practiced. Their dining room is open. There's a large communal table to immediate right upon entrance, and I saw a girl sitting there with her laptop. If you're not comfortable dining inside, there's also benches, tables and chairs outside too. However, most patrons take their food and drinks to go. Mobile App Order: Loooove it!!! I placed my food and drink order and was able to pick it up at the promised, designated time. You can also customize your drink to suit your dietary needs. As you get closer to your time frame, your app will notify you which barista is preparing your food and drink. You'll go inside and look for the sticker(s) labeled with your name, drink and/or food, and pickup time, which will be placed in front of your barista. You can also order inside the coffee shop too. My go-to item at Philz is the Iced Coffee Rose. I am, however, always bold in branching out from my comfort zone since most of the drinks at Philz fit my type, which is creamy and super sweet. Regardless, they have an excellent display and range for all coffee drinkers. The servers and cashiers are lovely at this location. They are typically speedy even when large groups of people are ordering. If you're someone like me who enjoys getting assignments or coursework done, this place is a perfect spot. The only problem is that finding a seat is challenging, but the outdoor seating is exceptionally spacious and rarely crowded in the morning or afternoon. The music set isn't distracting; however, I recommend bringing a sweater. That is still the perfect environment to get work done. Various customers also come their way to get an excellent-tasting coffee, and most are happy to chat while you wait for your order. It's affordable, especially being great quality coffee. If you are looking for free parking, I recommend parking at Macy's and getting your steps in by walking over to Philz. Lake Ave is a beautiful street, so I never see a problem with it. read more
