The process to order is confusing for all first timers unless you have a friend that is a total Philz Coffee Advocate and Lover! For me, it took me two attempts to get the order correct. From my understanding, you're supposed to wait in line to order first with the barista. After that, you are to walk to the cashier to complete your transaction. Then, you can head to the bench that they have and wait for them to call out your drink. I've been here on multiple occasions and the staff here is so kind! My go-to drink is the Mint Mojito and at first taste I really questioned why this was the most popular. At first sip, it tastes sort of like watered down coffee and that's how I explain it to my friends but then I tell them that the next couple sips after that somehow turns this drink into the best thing you've ever tasted!? Ever since I discovered the Mint Mojito, I can't get anything else! It's my favorite drink and I love coming here to treat myself. It's delicous with any type of milk and the staff at any Philz location is super friendly! My husband was hesitant about trying the mint mojito and now all he wants to do is go to Philz! If you wish to transform yourself into a morning person, PHILZ COFFEE IS YOUR ANSWER! I've been coming here between 6:30-7 a few times already to get some early morning studying done and have found myself to be super productive throughout the day. Every time I come in, I'm always welcomed with a "Good Morning!" or some small talk of "how are you or how's your morning been?" (real talk, who does small talk at 6:30am?!). Plus, the place has this nice cozy, bright atmosphere to it, with bright artwork on the wall, great lighting and fun bulletin boards. And of course, what's a 5-star coffee shop without some amazing coffee and delicious treats? I started trying out this place with their famous Iced Mint Mojito with light cream and light sugar and thought the drink definitely thought it lived to its hype. I've also tried some of their other light and dark blends and have found all of them to fulfill my coffee taste buds and satisfy my caffeine needs. Personal favorites so far has been their Sooo Good and Dancing Water blend with light almond milk (I personally don't like my coffee with sugar). They also have a variety of toasts and baked goods as well (plus, their toasts are made to order and everything's a lot fresher than what you would get at Starbucks). I always get a small coffee for $3.50 and sometimes a toast for $5. Price wise, is definitely a little bit pricier than a tall drink at Starbucks but I do think the quality of the coffee here is worth it. Another thing that I love about this place is how you can customize your coffee to any way you like (including exchanging milk) for a flat price and if you can make any adjustments if you don't like how your drink turned out (but that has never been an issue for me teehee). Finally, this is the perfect coffee shop for pretty much everything you can think to do at a coffee shop. For those who love to come to coffee shops to get some work done, this place is amazing because they have a big communal table with power outlets at the table and fast free wifi. For those who enjoy reading or catching up with friends, there's also a small seating area by the entrance and outside patio as well as some board games and books to choose from. For those who are always on-the-go, there's a bench in front of the coffee counter for you to sit while you wait for your drink to be made. There's plenty of street parking early in the morning and it's free before 9am (another perk for being an early riser). After that, street parking is 1 hour for $1 or you can park in the lot next to the Counter. But if you're just coming here to grab a drink to-go, there's three 15 minute parking spots on Shoppers Ln or you can park in the ticketed lot for 20 minutes where there's reserved spaces for Sugarfish (if you're feeling risky). read more

Definitely one of my favorite coffee joints. I had tried this place from the Bay all the way to the Westside in Santa Monica so imagine my joy when it finally opened in Pasadena! No longer will I have to drive an hour out for coffee. I Iove this place for its (basic) mint mojito iced coffee and its coffee in general. I like the vibe of going up to the barista and having the drinks made fresh in front of you with customizations to your liking. It's very alternative milk friendly and your customizations are heard and rendered. Soy milk? Sure! More mint? Sure! No sugar? You got it. They're also great at making sure the drink is to your liking. The vibe of this place is nice too, there's communal tables and lots of seating outside under umbrellas to give you some of that CA sun with a hint of breeze. Coming here, I can easily envision the type of lifestyle I would like to lead. I typically come after grabbing brunch from the various restaurants dotted along Lake Blvd. I'm not a usual coffee person, I like mine sweet with milk and I don't feel judged here for liking my coffee more akin to a dessert. great coffee and great service! first couple times here i had no idea which ones to order and i remember this one cashier who always helped me out with a friendly personality, she's this red hair girl, she's awesome. i met some other not too friendly cashiers/ baristas but whatever. i like how they "usually" tell you to try the drink first before you leave. today i got my usual drink, iced coffee rose, with oat milk creamy and lightly sweetened, (highly recommend)! since it's my usual i didn't try it before leaving, but i also wasn't reminded by the barista this time, but when i tried it the drink had no milk whatsoever and it was super bitter. I went back since i was still in the plaza, and the barista made me a whole new one! i greatly appreciate this type of service. overall, i come here when it's not too busy and i get my drink pretty fast. good place for studying too, free wifi and lots of tables. food wise, i tried the green chile breakfast burrito, which was surprisingly good for a vegan burrito, and the breakfast sandwich. the food here is decent if you're on the go or hungry for something close by. read more

I always love Philz for the organic coffee experience (also because it was one of the major highlights of my college experience at Cal). My personal favorites are the tesora or philtered soul. The respective caramel and hazelnut undertones are very captivating flavors. I like the concept of having a "personalized" barista who makes your drink for you; it's a natural way to build an authentic merchant-customer relationship. This place is not very consistent. Three times I have been here and ordered the same thing: mint mojito latte and all three times the quality was different. The first time was because of my friend's recommendation. She mentioned that the mint mojito latte is the best latte she ever had. When I tried it, I gave it a 3 stars. It was unique, but not unique enough to get the award of best latte. I couldn't really taste the mojito at all and the mint was only a hint taste. The second time was because my coffee-addict friend wanted to try it. This time it was excellent! I gave it 4.5 stars. The mint was stronger than the first one and complimented well with the coffee. Perfect balance! The third time was because of my great experience before, but it totally disappointed me. 2 stars for this one. The coffee taste was not as strong as usual and there was no mint taste at all. I guess you have to try your luck with the mint mojito latte here. Last Saturday 10/23/21 I got my weekly dose of Mint Mojito. It was so bad that I had to call in and throw it out. Didn't taste much of the mint and even the coffee didn't have creamy taste. No it wasn't because they didn't put enough cream. It's just the way the barista (Edgar) made my Mojito. Sorry to call out his name but hope he gets additional training. When I called, they thankfully offered another Mojito on the house otherwise I would've gave 1-star. You're paying $6.35 for a cup of coffee and you better get what you paid for! What I got the first time was worse than McDonald's coffee. i went in the next day; and the second time this Asian female barista made my coffee and it tasted how it should taste! also firs time with Edgar, the mint leaves were definitely all withered. Philz is one of our favorite coffee spots to go to. My wife usually gets the Mint Mojito house way. My choice varies from Tantalizing Turkish, to ginger snap and sometimes I'd just settle for a Tesora. They usually have a "blend of the month" for customers to purchase for a discounted price of $14 (typically $18). They also have small bites from avocado toast to hummus snacks. Parking is in the structure in the back or streets, both are paid parking. There are also a few spots of 3 minute and 15 minute parking in front and next to Counter. I went through a period of time, maybe even call it a phase, where I was trying every coffee on their menu. My favorites amongst the darker blends are ether and Jacob's Wonderbar. Amongst the medium blends, my favorites are philharmonic, philtered soul, and tesora. I canopy of heaven and dancing water of the lighter blends. Overall, my favorite is the philtered soul. This is one of my favorite go-to coffee shops! It's in the same plaza as soul cycle, lemonade and sugar fish. I go to soul cycle often so I stop by here pretty often to get my coffee fix after a good workout! You wait in line to order with a barista. You wait until your drink is ready (they'll call your name). You try the coffee, tell them if you want more/less of anything and then you go to the cashier and pay for your drink. That's what I love about this place. They genuinely care about how you feel about your drink before you pay for it. I generally stick to the mint mojito (MUST TRY) or new manhattan (cinnamon, citrus, cherry). I add some unsweetened almond milk because I don't like my coffee completely black. I stopped in on the way out of town to get coffee from a spot my daughter says hosts her favorite Youtubers. Initially I was not sure how to navigate the line but figure it out quickly. This is my first time being in Philz! And this place is dope! I'm here with my brother and so he ordered a mint mojito for me. Boy, this coffee is good! I love how the taste of the coffee is subtle, not too bitter and not too sweet either. However, the mint overpowered the taste and it's delicious! The atmosphere of this place is very welcoming, bright, and it has good taste of music. There are tables and chairs inside and outside. So there are options to where you want to sit. I remember being so obsessed with this place. I always get a different barista; therefore my coffee or tea never tastes the same. Everyone does it differently. Now that they have a 20oz size available, I automatically get that one. That also means it's more expensive and I usually get two, one for me, one for my husband. Lately I've been getting drinks that taste more like water! Not sure if now with a 20oz they use more water and less coffee. I feel like I'm paying for water that's infused and not actual "wake me up coffee" like I would at Starbucks, coffee bean or even McDonald's for a third of the price. So let down lately. My drinks the last 4 times have been two thumbs down and it's not cheap. I know we are asked to try it, but I'm not one to return their drink for modification because it doesn't taste the same ! My first time at Philz was a treat. I ordered the Cup of the month, the Silken Splendor, iced, with light cream). It was delightful. I also took their suggestion and ordered the Almond butter toast. I forgot what my boyfriend had to drink, but he ordered the avocado toast with an egg. I would have rather had that toast. The almond butter toast was pretty basic, which is expected, as its a pretty simple order, however, my toast crust was a little burnt and hard to cut. His avocado toast was perfect. Props on the excellent customer service and happy employees. Ill be back. :) read more

I'm starting to drink different kind of coffee and Mann.... when my co worker surprise me with the MINT MOJITO to try. I immediately fell in love with the coffee taste. I just had to come and have another. One cup at a time... is there such a thing when the coffee is that delicious? DISCLAIMER: this review is based off my visit back in June 2016. I am so stoked to see that Philz coffee was opening in my neighborhood! After having a nice brunch with my girlfriends at lemonade, we noticed the Philz logo right next to us, so... we decided to grab a drink despite being extremely full from our lunch! As we approached the door, we noticed it said opening soon.. Very disappointed, we started to walk away until a staff member came outside to tell us that they're doing a test run that day and all drinks are free! HURRAY. I decided to opt out of my normal mocha tesora to try something new - I got the ecstatic iced coffee while my first timer friends got their famous mint mojito. The ecstatic iced coffee was medium roasted, and very sweet (just how i like my coffee) - this may be my new go to drink! One thing i love about philz is that after your barista makes your drink, you can taste it. If you're not satisfied with your drink, they'll customize it to your liking. The workers are always very friendly and patient with you. Now that philz is only a 20 minute drive from my house, I come here more often. read more

Always a pleasant experience at Philz Coffee. I try to stop by when I'm in the area because I love the variety they offer and how they list out all their blends by the roast type on their menu. I typically buy medium or medium-dark roast beans for home so when I come to Philz, I always try to get a lighter blend. Life is all about being adventurous! The last two times I visited, a gentleman named Daniel prepared my coffee. He's very friendly, as are the other baristas behind the counter. I got the Dancing Water on ice and it's very easy to drink if you're new to lighter roast coffee. Not much else to say except that this place serves up great coffee! read more

Coffee for all coffee lovers! Philz has a wide selection of delicious coffees but my favorite by far is the mint mojito. This coffee infused the delicious taste of coffee with milk and mint. Initially I didn't think that this combination would be that great but after having tasted it myself I've become a believer! It is definitely the best coffee I have ever had. The overall decor of the coffee house is really warm and cozy as well. They have benched for people to work on their laptops and tables for people to talk around. There is even another set of benches where people can sit and wait for their drinks. Over the spring it would be nicer to sit outside to enjoy your coffee. Overall I would for sure recommend Philz to people but would warn that the price is a little higher than people may initially expect. But it's very worthwhile! read more

This is one of my favorite coffee spots, and that says a lot coming from someone who's always looking for and trying new coffee shops (both mom and pop shops and franchises). I always have a great experience at this Philz Coffee in Pasadena because of the awesome customer service from every staff member that works there and of course, the awesome coffee selection (stating the obvious). Strong coffee? Rich coffee? Unique flavors? Yes, yes, and yes. Philz has made its way to Pasadena (I'm apparently late in the game review wise), and I'm so glad it's here to stay! Their most popular flavors are Mint Mojito and Ecstatic Iced Coffee. Of the two, I prefer the Ecstatic because it's basically just the cold version of Tesora. The Tesora is my favorite. All of the folks who work here are are well educated in their blends and their drinks. They offer good suggestions if you're stuck in a rut. Also, you order first, try your drink and pay after you confirm a winner. If you don't like it, they're happy to change. Some indoor seating if you're lucky, and some outdoors seating...if you're luckier. I suggest parking at the Shopper's Lane lot and walking over...it's a really short walk. Mint mojoto always! The drink itself is very good and creamy, unlike any coffee I've ever tried before. It is a bit pricier than typical coffees, but it is unlike any other coffee you'd find here in Los Angeles. Service was a bit slow and it took about 7 minutes before my order was actually taken, even though I was at the front of the line and no one was before me. There were only two girls working at the moment, and both were preoccupied making drinks. In summation, a nice stop with cute decorations and a killer mint mojito. So I came in today at around 11:30am looking for my online order. There was one person already talking to the cashier, but a Caucasian lady from behind the counter approaches me asking if I needed help. I told her I was looking for my order and she went to the back to check on it. I checked on my online order. My mistake, I didn't finalize the order. I noticed a Caucasian man joined the line behind me. The lady comes back and I tell her it was my fault, but the order is frozen on my screen so I couldn't complete the transaction. She recommended that I order from the cashier. She then tells me to get behind the Caucasian male because "he was in line first." Clearly he was not, so I asked dubiously "He was here before me?" Coffee was pretty good here. Ordered the ecstatic iced coffee with milk and sugar which was very good and not too sweet. You can also order it with almond milk, for the lactose intolerant crowd. There's a really good atmosphere around here with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Philz continues to draw a relatively young crowd of people. Parking is really hit or miss around here. Cars come in and out frequently, and there's parking available across the street as well. But it's just one of those situations where you can get lucky and find parking immediately, but it's possible to be driving around the parking lot for several minutes until you can find something. It's a great place to read a book or chill with friends. I wouldn't recommend studying inside the shop because of the foot traffic and music. Would come back if I'm ever around the area. read more

Although this Philz coffee is local and the only Philz coffee within vicinity, I'm not being biased when I say this is the best one in Southern Cali. I love this Philz. Compared to other locations, this one feels like home. The baristas are all so welcoming and so nice! Every time I come here, my coffee is almost always made to perfection and if it's not, they're more than happy to make it better. My favorite is the gingersnap and the mocha tesora on ice. So delicious! The gingersnap is like christmas in a cup. If you love cinnamon, this is the drink for you. Tips: If I'm just grabbing a quick coffee, they have limited parking on the side for 5 min. I always park there and have never gotten ticketed even if I stay a little longer than 5 minutes. They also have a designated parking structure thats about 1-2 dollars per 20 minutes. If you don't mind the walk, there is a parking lot across the street where you can park for 90 minutes free. Soulcycle, Williams Sonoma, Sunlife Organics, Lemonade, and Dans Modern Chinese restaurant is located within the same plaza. read more

My first time here today and I'm impressed. One cup at a time is their motto. The coffee is brewed just for you. Set up was a little weird. Just go to a barista to order you drink. Then go tell cashier what you got to pay then wait for you drink. I don't know how they keep track of things or how to keep track of who is there first but I guess it works for them. I got the dancing waters. Light blend coffee. Milk chocolate. Cashew and grains. It was very smooth! I can't wait to go back and try other drinks!! read more

2 words: Mint Mojito. Recently moved offices and wanted to find a new go-to coffee place aside from Starbucks. Came across Philz and started reading the reviews on Yelp. Kept seeing "Mint Mojito" (MM)everywhere and being the skeptic that I am, I marched over across the street and ordered one. How could a coffee beverage called "Mint Mojito" be remotely good? I envisioned the tanginess of a real mint mojito mixed with coffee. Gross. I told the nice man behind the bar that it was my first time there and that I read all these reviews of the MM and had to try it...although I wasn't very excited to. He was kind and gave me a large for the price of a small...just so I could try it out and have a few extra sips if I ended up liking it. Well let me tell you what...it's freakin' delicious. I've been back like everyday to get my fill of this tasty goodness. People there are great, it's clean, the MM is delish, there is wifi...can't ask for a better new go-to spot!! read more
